OMG, Debbie...hot fudge over popcorn???  Well, I do think I've seen chocolate popcorn balls, so why not!  You know, if you put some cayenne in that hot fudge, then drizzled it over the popcorn, you could have the best of both worlds!!!  Personally I am mostly a purist - salt and real butter on my popcorn unless...it's caramel and nuts!  Oh yes, Orville Redenbacher used to have microwave caramel popcorn.  That stuff was dangerous!!!

Carole - have fun at your party tonight!

Laurie - hope you have a PVC-free day!

everyone loved the reubens except for me.. bummer.  last nite, my son #2, who loves to help me cook, marinated pork loin, and grilled them with peppers, zuccini and onions.   i made an excellent salad of tofu, grated carrots, cilantro, soy sauce and sesame oil.. ( i really do eat healthily in spite of the meat heavy dishes i make for the 200 pound men), curried lentils and rice.

i don't have to cook tonite.. mr. apple will be presented with some sort of national first place NARI award.. a remodeling thing, so i am attending the dinner.  i find those events quite boring but am obligated to go.. the dinner will be good tho and mr. apple will finally get to introduce me to some of his 'colleagues' in my wig and makeup.

apple sauce and plain yogurt for breakfast.. yum

*recipe" 3 grated carrots, a cup or more of chopped cilantro, a package of diced firm tofu and sesame oil and soy sauce. it's a great, filling summer salad.

Debbie, what a menu!  And chocolate syrup on popcorn???  I love popcorn and buy Orville R's SmartPop, which is recommended by WW and very good.  I spray butter spray on it liberally.

Thanks for asking about my bp.  The cycle continues.  High in the morning and gradually lowers during the day.  It was 151/98 yesterday morning and by bedtime 119/71.  I'm keeping a chart and will take it when I go next Thurs. for my dr. apptment.

    Happy Thursday!

Apple:  The salad sounds delicious and healthy!  Hopefully you were able to enjoy it.

Carole:  Good idea to chart the bp..puts you ahead of the game as that is probably what they would want you to do.

Carol- Somthing I heard a long time ago was that people with fish tanks or aquariums  had a lower BP somthing about the calming and relaxing effect it has. Quite a difference in your BP from morning til night!

Apple- I will copy/paste that recipe for when my dad comes to visit i know he will love that. Me too!

Happy birthday, Ducky!  Isn't it nice that we often get 2 meals for the price of one?  Makes it seem less expensive to eat out.

My birthday is tomorrow and we are eating out tonight, tomorrow and Saturday...LOL!  Tonight we are going to Not Your Average Joe's - I have a coupon for a free entree and dessert.  DH is planning tomorrow night's birthday dinner.  And Saturday is the family dinner at the Japanese steakhouse.  Debbie - I'm with you on this one.  DH wouldn't dream of not taking me out on my birthday.

Apple - oh, those corporate dinners... hoping it's not rubber chicken!  Enjoy getting gussied up and going out!

Happy Birthday Michelle!  Happy Birthday Ducky!

Apple enjoy your dinner!  DH #1 was a Banker, they serve good food at those events  You'll look better than anyone there!  Is your salad really filling?  It looks good, I'll have to try it.

Debbie, here's a healthy smoothie with Cayenne pepper, since you like it. Tell me what you think!

Carole, DH #2 used to pull those catfish out of the lake in Alabama.  I never want to see them again!  They're scary to me!  But they are the most expensive fish in Bush Alaska!  Everyone loves them!  I hope your BP gets under control

Laurie, I hope your heart is OK

DD dropped off her dog before going to India yesterday  Left message, "Leave your key in the hiding place so I can pick up my check and leave my dog,  I need you to watch her.  Please have your friend call in travel medications, PS has she done it yet???? I need it today!!!

She cracks me up.I know I should be mad, but I'm not.  I need a BIG present from India.

Apple:  One of the nice things about being retired is that I never have to go to another cocktail party or "corp. dinner" unless I choose to go:)  What I always hated were the salespeople who picked that time to get in your face and complain.  One time we went to Joe's Stone Crab in Miami and I was really looking forward to my crab claws but by the time a couple of sales agents got hold of me and talked my arm off, the crab claws had been taken away...I was so annoyed.  Those days are over for me....yea!  You're a guest tonight, so  just relax, smile, and enjoy the experience!

It must be nice that you live close to each other.

Toasted tuna sandwiches for supper tonight. When DH gets home from his store it is just too late to cook a big meal.  It's not good to eat so late.

Dinner out again tonight.  BF and I went for our IV infusions then up to a golf store to look for some used clubs for me.  By the time we headed home we decided to stop and have a quick bite at a small seafood restaurant.  I had fish tacos and he had  grilled mahi mahi.  Tomorrow night I am picking him up from a golf tournament and will join him for dinner with his friends.  I was not giving up the car tomorrow as it is my day to visit DGD and I haven't seen her in over 10 days!  I need a grandma fix!  DS says she has been asking every day if I'm coming to see her.  They love so unconditionally at that age.

Thanks, Ducky!  I'm counting on leftovers!!!  Actually, half my "free" dinner from tonight is in the fridge.  It will feed DH tomorrow for lunch while I take my mom out.

Speaking of my mom...she actually called me today!  I didn't think she was still capable of it, but the phone rang and I saw it was her number.  My heart sank as I immediately assumed one of the nursing staff was calling from her apartment, but it was actually her.  I guess she had missed a call so she wanted to know if I had just called her.  I know it might sound trivial, but it's a pretty big deal that she thought it through and figured out how to call my number, even though I have it pre-programmed on her phone.

Birthdays, corporate dinners - hope everyone is having fun.

Bedo - I saw that same "green smoothie" clip today.  I hope someone here tries it since I can't quite get my mind around the color.

Laurie - when did you say you're going back in to the doc?

I am off to bed but wanted to check in before I did.  I have officially declared the "heart thing" the saga.  I will write more tomorrow, but right now I have an appointment with the cardiologist for 5/11.  But....I have been having pain in my implant for the past few days and called the one Dr who loves me, my PS.  I am going to see him tomorrow at 8.  I chatted with his nurse today who I have gotten to know very well through it all and she is thinking the same as I am.  Dental infection, PVC's and breast discomfort.  We are hoping we are wrong....but we shall see. Tonight I asked DH if one implant felt different from the other, he agreed the left is harder and doesn't give the same.  So....maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right.  It may solve the PVC's if I get a nice big dose of antibiotics.  If I am wrong it is the cardiologists turn in a week and a half or so.

I swear- I feel like I am on candid camera.

Bedo-That smoothie sounds and looks really good i will have to try it, wish there for an actual recipe for it, it is only a video but will watch it again and write it down. Thanks!

Michelle- Oh, that dosn't sound trival at all when it comes to your mom, I would of panic'd also. Glad she was ok though.

Laurie- So, are you thinking this is all because of the implant? Gosh, you have been through so much. Please let us know as soon as you get back from your BS tomorrow. I wish you could get in sooner to the cardiologist and didnt have to wait that long, but hope you wont need him and find out its somthing else that can be fixed right away. I wish i could tell you, you've been punk'd!! Praying for you everyday!!Innocent

I try to have a green smoothie every day, made from romaine, kale, apple, zuccini, red and orange sweet peppers, pineapple and strawberries.  I throw a couple of scoops of protein powder in and it makes enough for several days of drinking.  Add water to give it the consistency you like.  I do it up in our Vita Mix blender.  The fruit gives it a sweeter flavor, but whatever you do, don't try it with watercress...I did that on Monday and it had a very peppery taste..yuk!  I stared mine down and drank it anyway, not wanting to waste such good veggies, but the BF would not touch his.  Won't do that again!

Laurie...hope you get some answers today and maybe some antiobiotics.  Regardless, I would still see the cardiologist.  Best case, they will do a complete workup and you will know that your heart is fine.  Are your PVC's getting better?

very embarrassing.. i fell asleep during the 'talk' that lasted at least an hour.. bad thing was - I was at the table of honorees.  The talker was excellent and i meant to apologize to him afterwards, but couldn't find him.  The dinner (at least the meat, chicken i think) was awful.. the veggies and salad were very good.

They cut the wing bone off of the chicken carcass  and pulled the breast meat (and the skin) off the ribcage, and baked it with a rather tasteless sauce of chicken stock, mushrooms and cornstarch.. the chicken was pretty gray,  but not dried up. It looked like some small, alien animal from a colorless planet, with the little bone and wing meat sticking up.  ( i would make a merciless food critic, knowing exactly how everything is made) .  The food industry (particularly for corporate/ institutional cooking) is full of premade soups, entrees, bread doughs, icings and sauces in bags, and  has all these additives.   At least the public is being educated about wholesome, organic and locally grown  food choices.

thank you debbie downer... Undecided  I'll cook something very fresh tonite.
