Apple:  I'll bet you weren't the only one who fell asleep during the talk!  Perhaps the talk should have been given before dinner and wine was served....lol!

Apple  Good for you for even going in the first place.  I think I would have played the cancer card for that one.  We need you here as the "Debbie downer" when it comes to food....someone to enlighten us as to what were are really eating when we go out.

tonight we are going to an oldtime local italian restaurant. Our friend that is going thru treatment for lung cancer has decided that he is feeling good enough to go out and socialize a bit, so he made the decision where to go and what time and all.  It will be so good to see him as he has been absent from our outings for awhile.

Just found out that my son in Ohio (who graduates next weekend) got the full time engineering job that he has been interning at  Yahoo last kid off the mom and dad payroll!!  We are all going to ohio next Friday for his graduation and I cannot wait to see him  though sad that he will not be coming home with us. We now have each kid exactly 5 1/2 hrs away from us in opposite directions.

Apple- Im sure everyone else was wishing they could sleep during the "talk" too. I was cracking up at the description of the "Alien looking chicken" Needed a good laugh this morning!

Kaara- I will have to try your smoothie too, although i love peppery kind of stuff and really like watercress plus its suppose to be very good for you, so might try a small batch with just the watercress and another one without- wish I had a vita-mix machine but they are to darn expensive.

Joyce- Yay! for checking in. Have a fun night with Michelle on her BD this evening.

Carrie- Congrats on your DS getting the job, sounds like a good one too at that. Sorry about your friend. Hope he enjoys himself out tonight. I live 4 1/2 hrs from my dad, its not a bad drive and love the scenery.

I dont know why it did bold letters (sorry)

I just love the saying"Debbie Downer" not! LOL!

Okay, Apple, so now is the time that you need to ask DH to take you out to a real dinner, where you can have fond connections to making the delicacies you are eating....NOT alien chicken parts! Please do this for yourself....and DH. There was never anything pleasing about the corporate dinners DH and I frequently used to attend, so I wasn't surprised about your experience. Yuk! You need to turn up the pleasure knob and propose something wonderful for both of you. :) Good luck!

Laurie....hope your appt went well....so happy you have a doc you feel a great connection with!

Carrie, congratulations on your son's success...very sweet even if it is at a distance. I also hate that my DS1 and family live 4+ hours away, but I can't complain since they are happy in their professions there, and I, myself, bolted from my home state right after college to my pursue my dream in Beantown.

Had an absolutely wonderful prime rib meal today.  Prime rib is not something to cook for one, but it's even harder to find a good slice in a restaurant.  This was medium rare and melted in the mouth.  Meat and two sides was $13.99 on the lunch menu - which of course was my dinner at mid-day.   I'll be going back there again soon.  Tonight was a brownie & a glass of chardonnay since I'm still full.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Had an awesome day yesterday...visited my DGD and took her to the park playground.  She is so independent now and wants to do everything by herself...climbing, walking across the little narrow places, jumping on the cross bridge.  Grandma gets nervous that she is going to fall and hurt herself, but she is very cautious as she does these things and seems to know exactly what she is doing.  One problem...she hates to leave and pitches a fit, but I have a little treat in the car for her..a peanut butter cracker which she loves, so she settles right down.  When I give it to her she says "Oh..thank you!"

After that I joined the BF at his golf tournament for dinner and had a very nice meal...big salad, two slices of roast beef, and a small piece of cornbread that qualified as dessert it was so sweet.  We passed on the ice cream sundays.  Lots of golf talk, but the guys are fun to be around.  Some of them were a little over beveraged and feeling no pain:)

It's raining buckets outside right now, so guess I'll be inside today doing laundry:(

MinusTwo - I love prime rib, medium rare, with a little horseradish sauce!

Kaara - sounds like you had a great day with DGD.  We have found that giving the kiddies a "5 minute warning" before it's time to end a fun activity helps to soften the blow of leaving.  That usually works.  I've enjoyed many a post-golf-tournament meal with our friends from the golf club where we were members for 15 years.  It's always fun to listen to the guys remember every stroke, every lie, on every hole, then comment that they can't remember a 3-item grocery list!!!

We had a fabulous dinner with JoyceK and her DH last night.  Great food and a couple bottles of Prosecco made for a great birthday dinner with lots of laughter.  DH and I both brought home half our dinners, so tomorrow's lunch is ready to eat.

Laurie, you must be feeling besieged by all these maladies.  If you're experiencing contracture with the implant, I believe that's not difficult to fix.  I have two silicone implants, too, from recon.

Too much going on with all you ladies on this thread to comment individually, but I have read all the posts and commented mentally!  Maybe the vibes will come through.

I'm not a grandma but am an aunt who has helped clothe one niece's three small children.  The only time the clothes look really cute are the first time the kids wear them because their mom has mental problems and character problems like laziness.  Yesterday I began shopping for summer clothes for 2yr-old girl, 7 yr old girl and 9yr old boy.  I went to a local GoodWill store across from the country club subdivision where I play golf.  This store gets great merchandise from people who couldn't be bothered with a garage sale.  I found 3 adorable sundresses for the 2 yr old for $1.99 each.  They didn't look worn at all.  One still had the tag on it.  Found a cute sundress for the 7 yr old, too.

Next I went to a consignment store for children and found a few items there.  Now I'm ready to venture to the retail stores like Target and Kohl's.  It's such fun buying for the girls.  Not so much fun for the boy.

Back to the subject of the thread.  Lunch yesterday after golf was an oyster salad.  Crispy plump fried oysters with roasted pecans and chopped egg on salad greens.  Remoulade dressing was yummy.

Dinner last night was Chicken Improvised!  Planned to do Chicken Salsa but ran into a BBQ sauce entrepreneur in the supermarket who was selling his bottled sauce.  He was a local man so I bought a couple of bottles after sampling his sausage and peppers.  Arrived home while DH was making martinis and enlisted his help.  Threw the chicken pieces into the electric fry pan.  Poured a bottle of the sauce over all.  DH was chopping up red and yellow peppers in big pieces and a couple of onions in halves.  Also a jalopeno pepper he found in the veggie drawer.  Cooked with the cover and then toward the last removed the cover so the sauce could thicken.  Turned out really good.  Side dish of mashed potatoes with new potatoes from the CSA supply of veggies.

Today is bread baking day.  Took the starter out of the freezer last night and it is bubbling.  DH really likes this rustic bread I bake.  We hardly buy sandwich bread now.

A beautiful Saturday here.  I must go walk 3 miles.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Kaara oh my goodness I love your term "over beveraged"  gonna have to remember that one!

We had 12 people show up for our dinner last night!  OMG I had told the restaraunt 8 but the people just kept multiplying!  I really think our friend had a great time though.  Says he is not doing any more chemo as he has decided on quality of life over quantity and was tired of being in bed sick all the time.  Summer is coming and I know he wants to be able to jet ski on the lake...he is like an energizer bunny normally and has the need for speed all the time.  Oh and I had chicken saltimbooca that was devine....brought home leftovers.

Laurie  hope you are feeling ok and are able to enjoy the weekend.

Minustwo  I agree it is so hard to get a good prime rib but sounds like you did at a great price too!

Well the sun is shining but deceiving only about 40 degrees out.  I am off to lowes to get some paint and pain the bathroom....ooooh lucky me.

Carberry:  Yes...I picked that saying up from a friend.  It sounds a lot more politically correct than intoxicated, or drunk:)

Carole:  What a good Aunt you are to do that shopping for your neices and newhew...I know they will love their new clothes and won't care that they came from a Goodwill store.  I'm going to have to give that a try...kids grow so fast and I hate paying those high retail prices.  I did get a set of used Taylor Made clubs.  We looked at the golf store and I tried them out, but the guy wouldn't deal, so we came home and BF went on ebay and purchased a set of used which I will be perfectly happy with.  Can't wait for them to arrive so I can try them on the golf course.

Too bad I'm not a betting person, because the BF did go out to play golf even with the thunder and lightening going on.  Personally I think that's a little obsessive, since he had a long golf day yesterday, but it's his choice, as long as he leaves me some means of transportation to do what I want.  Fortunately, I'm very good at entertaining myself!

    Happy Saturday everyone!

    Over-beveraged.  Great.

Momine - I eat very little red meat, but I do compromise a few times a year with a good steak.  And now a good prime rib place.  I'd already phased it out in favor of fish & chicken well before BC.

    Laurie thinking of you.

Minus, I may start allowing myself a little meat here and there. It just surprised me that I miss it so much. But now that I am on femara, I am really scared of the cholesterol in meat and eggs and cheese :( I let myself have two eggs a week though, because I have to have pancakes sometimes.

I got 'Over beveraged' last night. LOL! Feeling a little puny today. Nothing taste better than spicy foods day after an over beveraged night! Made a yummy virgin bloody mary with lots of horshradish, celery salt, worcheshire, hot sauce and some lemon juice. So good.

Laurie- Hope you check in soon and let us know how your appt. yesterday went. ((((hugs))))

Hi ladies, checking in really quick, sorry I haven't posted.  So, I thought I had it all figured out, that an infection was causing the pvc's.  Nope.  My PS ran a bunch of tests and I have no infection, which is good.  But now what is causing the pvc's?  He said the breast pain I have been having is being caused by the pvc's not that the breast pain is causing them.  And here I thought I was so smart!  lol, ohwell. (ps Kaara- I took your advice and got on the pro biotics.)

I am doing ok, tired and a little frustrated, but good.  Today we ran errands in the am and this afternoon we went for a long walk with the boys and my brother and his girlfriend to the river.  It was a really nice walk.  We just got back and gave them baths and ordered a pizza.  I was going to make lasagna but it got too late.  The walk lasted about 2 hours.

Thanks everyone for thinking of me and I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Went to my the trainer today then went to the community garden to weed my plot.  I need serious help with that.  Then took a nap and bought a birthday present for a friend.  I just feel like being alone today.  All "peopled out" from work.  Grand dog is staying with me while DD is in India planning to ride an elephant. We went to the dog park today. Cat slapped her on her head today. :(

For dinner, more pasta with mushroom sauce! asparagus, and watermelon.  Everyone's dinner sounds yummie!  I hope you fell better Laurie!

Debbie:  Back in the day when I used to wake up after "over beveraging", (see this great new term can be a verb or an adjective or adverb or...)  my favorite thing after a bloody mary was Original KFC.  That grease & those spices worked every time.

Laurie- Thanks for checking in. Shoot, i was hoping it was somthing you could fix right away. Sounds like you had a nice day today with family.

Bedo- When I use to work as a food server and being around people all the  time i would have days like that too that i just wanted some quiet time and be alone. I did love my job though, I enjoyed working around people but could be very exhausting. That Darn Cat anyway!

Minustwo. LOL! I know I love that saying now somehow just sounds so much better hehe! Yes, greasy and spiceyer the better.

Yesterday I made  soba noodles with teriyaki sauce and lots of ginger,  added sauted cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and green onions, ate it cold today and it was so yummy.

Some years ago I decided not to get "overbeveraged" any more and I've pretty much stuck to that resolution.  I've had my share of hangovers and they aren't fun.

I love steak and prime rib and other kinds of meat as well.  Going vegetarian would be VERY difficult for me even though I enjoy salads and veggies.

Tonight we had grilled lamb chops, sauteed Swiss chard, salad and fresh baked bread.  Everything was very good.

I'm reading a very interesting cookbook called The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters who owns a restaurant in Los Angeles called Chez Panisse.  She was one of the early chef advocates of cooking food grown locally.  I also have her cookbook entitled Chez Panisse Vegetables.  I bought both books used on Amazon and they're like new.

Carole: I agree - it's not worth it.  It's been a long time since I've overbeveraged except for a nephew's wedding 3 years ago. Too much champagne & that's a really bad next day.  I think Alice Waters is from Northern CA - Berkeley I believe.  But thanks for recommending the books.  I'll look for the vegetable cookbook for sure.  I think I have some credit left at Amazon from a Christmas gift.

Bedo:  I used to be very social, but now really treasure as much lone time as I can get.

    Laurie:  Still sending (((hugs)))

Laurie:  So glad you found out there wasn't an ongoing infection impacting the heart, as that can sometimes be serious.  Keep the app't with the cardiologist in hopes that it can be sorted out easily and some meds prescribed.  My little half a beta blocker worked wonders for mine when I was having them so bad.  You still have them, you just don't feel it as much.  Do they get worse when you exercise or better?  Mine used to go away when I exercised, so I think mine might have been caused by my slow heartbeat.  I try to do cardio regularly.

OM Gosh - Trader Joes IS coming to Ft Worth June 15.  Big middle of mess 'o construction on new Freeway coming in from SW.  I thought I had heard they were but you know how BC disrupts things/thoughts/plans.  That and no money to go spend there. Boo hoo.  Their website says same day as opening in The Woodlands.  Can't believe didn't go to Plano/Allen/Frisco or even Colleyville or Grapevine (what we call mid cities between Ft.Worth/Dallas) but in the big middle of Ft. Worth.  AND get this - not but couple miles at best from Central Market. Central Market is as gourmet as it gets here in North Texas but it is just in Texas.  We do have a Sprouts near my office and again in the same general area as Traders Joes and C.M.  It just doesn't do it for me.  Could spend my whole day, not to mention paycheck, in Central Market.

Planning pork roast (loin, boneless) this afternoon.  Not so sure how I'm going to cook them.  Have plenty of onions/carrots/couple of potatoes.  Have a sage rub I use on tenderloin.  Probably bed them down with lots of onions and cover with foil and cook low/slow.  Albertons had buy 1/get 1 deal so will most likely do both and freeze extra one.  Just DH and me.

Hi everyone! Sounds like everyone is having a pretty good weekend. The feeding frenzy continues as we went to a restaurant in Hampton, NH (The Old Salt for my local gals) and enjoyed the best Sunday brunch. Any further eating today will be leftovers as the fridge is full of styrofoam containers from the last couple of days.

Got a little disturbing news on Friday (ranks right up there as worst birthday present ever)... my tumor markers (CA 27.29) went from 31 in January to 55.8 last Wednesday. Sooo...I will be having a PET scan this week. It would already be scheduled except that I got the call late Friday afternoon. I'm trying to convince myself that the tumor marker test gives lots of false positives. Yep, that's it...false positive. I feel perfectly fine. All my other labs were perfect.

Speaking of over beveraging, my son's SO really over-indulged last night. We were at a karaoke bar and she really let loose. She was pretty funny and we really had a good time, but I suspect she's paying the penalty today. Like some of you others, I learned my lesson about too much alcohol quite a long time ago. The pukefest that always accompanied the partying was just not worth it, and it didn't take much to get me to that point. So now it's a couple drinks or glasses of wine and lots of water!

    Michelle- Oh Michelle I hope it is nothing but a false positive. I hope the pet scans will be normal, i know the scanxiety can drive you crazy, try to stay busy and not think about it. (not easy, I know) Saying prayers for you. {{{{hugs}}}}

Joyce- Sounds like you and Michelle had a great time out. Hope the doc gets your puter parts working lol!

Lovmygoats- Your pork roast sounds good. I made one last week and it was excellent.

I really have been good on Not over beveraging dont like how i feel the next day either. but everyone was buying shots for us, Never drink shots, dont know what i was thinking! I won't be doing that again.

Making Steaks and brussell sprouts for dinner with a ceasar salad and homemade croutons.
