Just a thank-you note! Thanks gals for the well-wishes.... And doing much better....!
Getting back to "kind-of-normal" by using the walker.... It just hit at a hard time..... had to put our Lacee to sleep about 1 1/2 weeks before, and just one thing after another. Thank God for my friends on BC.ORG, and my DH and Daughter's.... And thanks Jackie, for ALways being there..... xoxoxoxoxo

Hi Gal Pals,
It's another cold morning here. The sun is trying to come out, but we've got some snow/rain/freezing rain forecast for later in the week. I am longing for spring.
I don't know if I've shared this before or not, but my sis found out she has a carotid brain aneurysm about 6 months ago. She met with a bunch of doctors at UVA, which is about 2 hours from her house. They did scans, etc. She is due for a 6 month scan right about now to see if there have been any changes to the aneurysm. The problem is that UVA has a terrible rating for people dying of aneurysm's. She's freaking out and is trying to get a consult at Johns Hopkins in MD. Please keep her in your thoughts. It's a really scary time for her.
Jackie .. Wow! You work long hours. How come only four more days? Are you retiring?
Chevy .. Great to see you. I'm sorry so many sucky things happened all at once. I'm sorry you lost your Lacee. That really hurts. Good news that you can ambulate with the walker. Hope you continue to get better.
Notself ... Long time no see. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for sharing the link. The pictures were very moving. My heart goes out to all those men.
hugs,
Bren

Gumby ... I forgot to mention I was thinking about you and your shoulder pain this morning. I have chronic pain in my right shoulder/arm/neck area. The ortho thinks it's from arthritis in my C-spine noted on an MRI. I'm not sure about that, but anyways ... it sucks to be in pain all the time. I hope the ortho doc can get to the bottom of this and help you.
hugs,
Bren

I put some tiny minnows in the turtle tank. Mr. T is having a wonderful time trying to catch one. What a hoot!!!!!
-
Bren - you're right. It sucks to be in pain all the time. The area you mentioned is the exact same as mine. 9 years ago I had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder to remove bone spurs. I believe that this pain is a combination of something in my shoulder and something in my neck. Massage help a bit but not much.
-
Gumby .. I agree with you, massage helps a tiny bit. I don't know if my problem is muscular or skeletal. I know I have moderate arthritis in the cervical spine. I don't want another MRI, so I haven't pursued this any further than I originally did. My PCP is aware of the situation and I do have some pain meds I can take when it gets really bad.
Those bone spurs sound painful ... can they come back? Tim has them on his hip bone and they cause him a lot of grief.
Blue .. Love the roses. My favorite color combination! The roses make me so nostalgic for the gardens I had in San Diego.
Mr. T cracks me up. Can you take a picture of him with the minnows? Is he getting bigger?
hugs everybody,
Bren
-
(((Bren))) hope you get relief soon. Pain is the absolute pits. It shuts down life.
-
Unfortunately, yes, bone spurs can return. I worked with a woman who has had the arthroscopic surgery twice on her shoulder. She didn't put it off as long as I have, though, so... well, I guess I'll find out more on Friday. At least I hope I will. Of course, I'm also scared they'll say it's cancer, but I try to keep that out of my mind as much as possible. I

Not a very good pic because of lighting but there he is hiding beside a rock ready to strike. They circle around him with no fear. haha...must be the most uncoordinated turtle in the world. Now I'll have to feed the minnows too!
-
Pain sucks big time. When I get up in the morning don't know which part of my bone structure will hurt. Keeps me guessing. Yes GG, always thinking the c word too.
-
Gumby .. I know what you mean. I figured I must have cancer in my scapula. I was really nervous about the MRI, so I can understand how you feel about seeing the ortho on Friday. I had no idea that bone spurs could come back. Will keep you in my thoughts on Friday.
Blue .. Love the picture of Mr. T. What a neat aquarium! That's funny that you're going to have to start feeding the minnows now. What else does Mr. T eat besides minnows? Lindsay (DIL) has a turtle in an aquarium too, but I think he's a baby box turtle. He gets worms and crickets to eat. Plus the box turtles love vegetables, fruit and raw hamburger. Maybe I'll catch one in the spring and keep it for a pet. Nahhhh. Bad idea. The turtle would hate it.
hugs,
Bren

How does that saying go? Something like "now everything is cancer until it's not."
Mr T has a lovely home!
-
Bren I feed it turtle food but I'm told this one (red-eared slider??) will eat meat and veggies and fruit. I just don't want the tank to get too messy. He eats out of my hand.
-
You are waaayy too nice to your turtle! We had one once that kept having to have a bigger aquarium because it kept growing. The tank was usually quite horrible. Eventually, when it got too much, we took it to a pond owned by friends of my parents - where there already were a lot of turtles. He showed us where he had moved some of the eggs into buckets of sand so that the local children could watch them hatch. With great ceremony, three children and I took the turtle there, took lots of pictures and let it go. As much as a turtle can race, it raced to the water. It either had a glorious last summer or a long happy life with turtle friends. We don't know.
I will never win the pet owner of the year award.
-
Sorry for everyone in pain. Pain (almost) trumps everything. Hugs to GG, Yorkie, Bren, and Blue.
Pip - boy did you state my theme - everything is cancer until it's not. I'm not in pain now, but just odd crap stuff, like my foot giving out, a bit of mild sciatica and my mind goes there. If only one could forget. I can't seem to.
Chevy - so nice to see you. What happened to Lacee?

Blue -- those three guys need a label; what ARE they???
-
Hi Blue .. love the pics of the Maltese. They are such cute dogs with a great big personality. I'm not sure what those weird furry looking things are. I think they might be some kind of monkey cause they have five fingers.
It is really cold and windy today. The sun is out, but it's not helping. I dread walking the dogs in this wind and cold. I've had the furnace going all morning and I still can't warm up. My hands and feet are freezing.
Hope everyone has a great day,
hugs,
Bren

For Sunny!

-
CAC, They are monkeys...can't remember what kind but I was thinking we could use our imagination and assign them names. hahahaha!
I just went to look at the source of the pic and they are Tamarin Monkeys.
-
Blue, thanks! I just looked them up, and they're tiny little fellows, about the size of a squirrel. Another of nature's wonders!
