I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

rr- the steroids over ruled all for me with it, but I could ONLY eat very very very plain, plain yukon gold mashed potatoes, plain rice, broth, nothing with any salt or spice. So strange...but EMEND is the best anti-emetic. Also I think, the most expensive, but if one asks, I think you'd be given it.
Have seen what's happening in Ukraine, terrifying. Putin's man in charge. Also the fighting between the "opposition" forces in Syria, Venezuela, boggles the mind. The world seems to be on fire.

Sunny, the steroids just made me sleepless until they gave me a really good sleeping pill, and the lymphoma dosage is 100 mg. a day for 5 days each cycle - regardless of your size. That still doesn't seem right to me. I was under 130 pounds and getting the same steroid dose that the huge guy next to me was getting. For nausea I had Aloxi (sp?) with my infusion and Kytril for 3 days at home. After that I had compazine, if needed but only took that a couple of times when I decided to work on my jewelry and just couldn't take watching the beads roll around. Sudoku turned out to be a better diversion for me. I also could only eat bland food, interesting that you had that issue too - it seems like most I know wanted extra seasoning.
Yes, there are several areas of the world that seem to be on fire.
-
Oh Chickadee. Try. Try to stay hydrated. Sparkling water and lemon was only thing, besides ginger tea was the only thing I could drink. Nausea is exacerbated by dehydration.
-
thank you for all the great advice. I feel like I better make a list for the battle and get my flak jacket out.
This is moving to the hard stuff and it just feels like I'm losing ground when I thought I could maybe coast along this year.

Hi Friends!
Chicky ... I am sorry to hear you have to move on to the red devil. It sucks about your liver. I hope the Doxil kicks some cancer ass and the rads help to relieve some pain as well. Your fall scared me. I almost passed out in the store the other day. I was crouched down on the floor, looking at colored pencils that were at floor level, for about 10 minutes. Came up to a stand and lost it. I grabbed onto the display area until I could walk again. It's happened before, but I don't know why.
Sandy ... Looking for the "like" button from your post on the last page.
I think I have some kind of PTSD from that terrible job. I'm just exhausted. Met up with my sis in Roanoke for lunch and then shopping. I need a white cardigan-type sweater ... we look all over and couldn't find anything at the mall. Just so happy I wasn't listening to ESL's all day today.
Tomorrow I'll start my new marketing campaign. Feeling hopeful with the 47 pages of addresses I have for forensic and legal psych doctors. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that I get another client. This is the way I've gotten all my clients in the past, so hope it works again.
hugs and love to all,
Bren

So, I googled Red Devil because I have no experience with that one. I found a recipe that might make you not care about progression, cancer, or anything else for that matter:
one serving
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz peach schnapps
1 1/2 oz southern comfort
1 1/2 oz sloe gin
2 oz triple sec
2 oz orange juice (I imagine that is for the vitamins)
1 splash grenadine
-
Kay .. I love your Red Devil way more than Chicky's. Sounds like the kind of drink that needs a little umbrella stuck in it .. oh and a really gorgeous beach ... and in the tropics!
hugs,
Bren -
Yeah Kay, I'll take that one.

rr - do you still do beads? I did for years, with semiprecious gem stones, we used to call ourselves beadaholicques....now do more painting, but still have a lifetime supply of beads, wonderful hand made flamework. I tried that for a while too, but made me too tense. Still like making jewelry.
Chickadee - remember EMEND. If you do get red devil, please make sure it's on top of your list.
-
((((((((((((Chicky)))))))))))) - we are all here for you

Sunny, I have several projects in mind but haven't touched the beads this winter. I know once I get the beads out I'll want to keep them out for awhile and with the weather not being conducive to spending time outdoors I just haven't wanted to create a mess inside. We closed off the spare rooms for the winter to save on the heating bill so space is at a premium but now I'm thinking that I could put the beads out in one of those rooms where they'd be accessible and I could run in and grab what I want for each project. Did you ever figure out how to post a picture of your artwork? (I still have the creative thread in my favorites) It's fairly easy now. If you can get the picture into your computer you can just upload the pic here by using the little image icon and picking the file you want to post.
-
Blue, love the pics. Tulips come first here to usher in Spring. I'm really tired of this crazy weather....we are mud, mud, mud, and more mud here and it is due to rain all day tomorrow -- likely starting sometime tonight. Oh joy, but it will wash a lot of the few places where a bit of snow still lingers. The parking lots will hold onto those major sized piles for a while yet.
The little mouse was a cutie too.

rr - smiling with you, re: no room. Obstacle to posting pic, is learning how to use digital camera which has been sitting on my desk for years. It's on my list, but not near the top. Learning to work with these delicious soft pastels, including pan pastels is on the agenda now ;-) Anybody ever notice how many colours there are in snow. Amazing...
we're getting RAIN, thunderstorms tonight, which is, well, interesting. In February? With about 2 feet of snow on the ground. Wonder where all the water is gonna go? We need a Pipeline to CA, seriously. Id support that b4 keystone...sorry to friends in Canada, know your gov wants Keystone...seems as dangerous to transport fuel by rail now too....another paradox, no answers, except "alternative" energy and conservation.
NO LAWNS.....love that movement. Edible Gardens, in case anyone else is interested.

Sunny, we had thunder snow the other night and we're supposed to get rain today, also with nowhere to go. I was the first person in my city that I know of to tear up my entire front lawn and plant native flowers, ground cover and mulch. There was some curiosity at first as to whether the city was going to let me keep it that way but so many people liked it and started doing the same so I didn't have to worry. I didn't really do it to make a statement. The grass wasn't growing well and I always had better luck with flowers.
My backyard has very little lawn but that's because it's very little and we have a little 18' round pool and deck that takes up a large portion of it, and there's a shed with solar heating for the pool on top. The yard perimeter is trees and flowers and I plant vegetables in amongst the flowers in the summer. The veggies seem to do well that way. I get more produce than our neighbor gets from planting a regular garden.

Our government is not representative of the People of Canada. They are representative of the oil industry which is also not representative of the people of Canada.
-
Sadly so true Kay. The PM in Mexico is a train wreck.
-
Kay is right on both counts!!!
-
Kay, your statement sounds just like our government. Money rules all it seems.
-
Ya, we're either liberal fascists up here or conservative fascists. Hahahahaha! I'm still LMBO at the repugs definitions and how they can transform them. IDJUTS!

Saw that comment about "liberal fascists." Did they never take a class in civics, world history, etc. etc.?? Probably not and that's why, unbeknownst to them, they side with the real fascists
Love all the garden and painting talk! My front yard is my vegetable garden, interspersed with perennials. I always get comments on how fun that is. In my mind it equals productivity and beauty - though the deer and possums think it's pretty too, so not sure it will be so pretty with a fence around it this year. I just finished putting in a nice raised bed in the backyard this week (one advantage of not having snow) where I will grow my greens.
Sunny - I'm on my 4th painting class (they are short 4 weeks courses). The last three were watercolor, which I'm enjoying much more than acrylic. For one, it is the teacher...she's funnier than heck. She was recently featured in December issue of "Watercolor Artist" as "one to watch." For a small town, we're lucky to have her. Painting river rocks yesterday.
Found my new Devon Rex kitten. He arrives in a month. Never had a kitten before, so any advice will be appreciated.
-
KAM- Did you paint river rocks or a painting of river rocks. Pictured you down by the river painting them 1x1.
-
Hi Gals,
It's another pretty nice day here. About 60 degrees. Actually walked the dogs for the first time in a week. My upper fields were quite muddy, but the lower ones still had about 3 inches of snow. I did not enjoy traipsing through the snow in my sneakers. Think I'll skip the snow part tomorrow and just make a couple of trips up and back through the mud.
I've working on creating a website for my business. It's kind of fun, but stressful. I have no experience in doing this at all.
River ... We've got some rain in the forecast as well. Then Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be lovely. I am so ready for March ... and then springtime when the trees start to bloom. My daffodils are already coming up.
Sunny ... I know how you feel about your camera. My digital one made me very nervous. I didn't know how to work it and the whole thing seemed so foreign to me. BUT .. I did figure out how to point and shoot and it's really easy to put the pictures on the computer. I'm sure your camera must have come with a USB connector for the computer.
Think I'll go look for some Advil. Have a killer headache today. I've been refining my forensic list of doctors trying to verify addresses and target the ones that appear the best source. Realistically though .. probably 95% of my brochures and letters will end up in the trash.
hugs,
Bren

It's snowing again here! AAAAARRRRGH! When is it going to end????
-
Lol - painting of river rocks!
-
Kam, I was wondering about the river rocks too. I saw rock painting kits in the craft store and couldn't imagine why you'd need a kit. So I thought you might be able to tell me if they were hard to paint or something. That smiley is so creepy.
We headed out to Costco earlier, it started thunder snowing, DH said ah, we'll be fine, kept going. It changed to raining slush, freezing rain whatever. The trip to Costco usually takes us just over an hour and we were only fifteen minutes from home so I said I didn't want to have a two hour drive there and maybe more home if we were lucky enough to not end up off the road. So we turned around and came home. Geez.
-
Kam, just boggles the mind! Now liberals are fascists. They have no idea what fascism is about. My mom lived through the Mussolini era and many sad stories were relayed to me about her experiences. If she were to hear some of the idiocy being spouted, she would hit them with a broom! They should go on ebay and bid on a brain!
