I check in here now and again. Just to see the fun I'll be missing.
Dream, thank you for your kind and generous offer. You are very sweet.
-
Sherri: I think I can make it - will know better a few days before. Is that okay for confirming numbers?
Thanks for arranging this. I'd really like to meet you and the others.
-
Hi - in the next few days I'll go through the list and figuring out how many we have coming on Monday, April 5th at Pickle Barrel, Yorkdale for lunch. In the meantime, if there is anyone interested in attending who hasn't responded, can you please do a post. Also, in an earlier post Barbe1958 asked if someone could mention this to Beesie and Dream. Dreamwriter has responded..is she the same person as Dream? Does anyone know Beesie to mention it to her?
Looking forward to connecting on the 5th!

Hi, This is my first post - ever!! I'd like to come to the lunch - what time?
-
Janet, welcome. That's a good question about the time. I don't think we know yet. Maybe Sherri can let us know when she makes the reservation.
-
Hi, I was thinking 12:30 p.m. would be a good time. I already called Pickle Barrel and they will take reservations. I'm just going to go through and tally up how many are coming and call them back. Here are the details:
GTA Get Together
When: Monday, April 5, 2010 @ 12:30 p.m.
Where: Pickle Barrel, Yorkdale
Reservation under name: Sherri
I'll do another post later on with a list of those who have confirmed.
Have a nice day!

Sugar, I'm coming in from Niagara and may be a little late, depending on traffic, weather etc.
Can't remember -- where exacty is the Pickle Barrel in relation to Sears (east end) or the Bay (west end)?

Lindasa - Pickle Barrel is right next to The Bay. It's on the north side of the mall at the entrance just east of The Bay. The restaurant is downstairs so there is an escalator and an elevator to get down to the restaurant where the dining part is (upstairs is a takeout counter). Can't wait to meet everyone in person!

Sherri, thanks for making the arrangements! See you there.
-
Thanks for making the arrangements, Sherri.
-
I invited Beesie by PM but she said with Passover coming there were issues with eating out.
-
Barbe - thanks for checking with Beesie.
Leadies - we can still add more people at this point so please take a look at the list I posted yesterday of confirmed attendees and let me know if you would like me to add you to the list.
Thanks, Sherri
-
Yes, Beesie is right about Passover. Some of us are less observant. I should have thought of that.
-
Are you still coming Helen? You could just watch us eat...or we could make it just a tea party???
-
I am still coming. I just won't eat any bread.
-
We'll be watching!!
-
Pickle Barrel has a very broad menu and I recall there are lots of choices that don't involved bread. Looking forward to seeing y'all there!

....Not a discussion that I planned to get into but since it's been started, I'll explain a bit more. While I'm not normally observant at all (bacon is one of my favourite food groups), there are a couple of Jewish traditions that I do keep and Passover is one. So that doesn't just mean no bread, but it means nothing made with wheat, barley, oats, spelt, and rye. And since I follow those rules, it only makes sense (to me, anyway) to also then avoid shellfish, pork, mixing meat and dairy..... It's just something I do to keep a connection to my childhood (watching my mother prepare for Passover is a strong, pleasant memory) and to show respect for those in my family who were killed because they were Jewish. For them, it's my way of giving the finger to those who tried to wipe us out.
-
Beesie, it's lovely that you have good childhood memories and great that you continue to keep them alive. We would love to meet you, but we can wait until another time.
-
Beesie - I echo what Molly says. I look forward to meeting you another time. BTW - I read so many of your posts in the DCIS section before my diagnosis, which were so informative and encouraging.
Sherri
-
Beesie -- childhood memories become even more precious as we get older. Enjoy Passover, and let me know if you are ever down this way -- we could do the lunch thing here!
Hugs, Linda
