Mary, I am watching your game on TV.
-
Weather warning for ladies heading towards San Antonio: we still have temperature in low 90 until the day you ladies arrive. The "cold front" will drop it to 70s. Be sure to bring a pair of shorts, that's our standard wear until Thanksgiving! 😎
-
I managed to walk about 20 minutes. I'm traveling--drove about 3 hours. Another day without a nap so that's good.
-
TwoHobbies I'm with you on the no weight loss, no matter what I do but when I look at old pictures I look different and last year I was in a study where I had a nutritionist and logged every bite of food that went in my mouth and in 6 months I lost 2llbs.
Did Body Flow Tuesday night, U Jam last night and tonight double header with Body Combat and Body Pump - LB did you see LM are trailing Vinyasa this week in NZ!!!!
One week till San Antonio woohooooooo!!!!!! -
Cheryl, after my son was born I settled about 25 pounds above my previous weight A year of heavy exercise and I lost 3 lbs. so i hear ya on the 2lbs in six months I have to go back to no grains, dairy or sweets. I just cant eat the normal things in front of us every day and not gain weight. I know it- Now I have to do it.
Yoga today

Scottie: Your dd is gorgeous! You captured pure joy in her face.
Hi Everybody! We have been having beautiful, cool, low humidity weather and I love it! Today I worked in the yard for 75 minutes then walked/ran at the park.
-
Busy day here; subbed, went for a walk, did yard work & 45 minutes of pilates. Now am sitting in the recliner eating a bag of popcorn & doing nothing!
-
Lifelover- I used the couch to 5k to get running to begin with. I will try the "run as fast as you can" approach and see how it goes.
Sweet-I truly am a wogger!
Today I lost a friend to breast cancer. She was a member of our cancer support group and she had her 7th re-occurrence over 13 years. She was a great person and she fought so hard.I am just so sad...
-
Oh Ginger I am so sorry for your loss (((HUG)))
This morning did Sprint, still can't believe I manage to get to the gym at 6.30am, I am so not a morning person, then this evening did a special 'Party in Pink' 90 minute Zumba class, our instructors Mom just did her 4th round of chemo so he was very emotional
-
Ginger, I am so sorry.
-
Ginger, I'm sorry to hear about your friend.
The intervals I did a few days ago really helped my speed. Today I ran my best 5K - in 39:09 minutes. One day I'll get it down to 30 minutes. I am now training for a 10K - going to do my first UK run - Cancer Research UK London Winter Race on 5 February. Very excited. And that is why I am now eating spoonfuls out of a jar of Nutella
-
((Ginger)) so sorry about your friend.
lifelover, congrats on your PB.
Cheryl & TH, I'm with you on that plateau. UGH
Herb Alpert was great last night. He's touring with his wife Lani Hall (anyone remember Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66) and a three-piece combo (keyboards, bass & drums). Eighty-one years old and still in fine form, they did a two-hour show with no break. He's also a wonderful example of a human being. Here's a story about him from CBS Sunday Morning.
30 mins walk this morning.
-
Ginger, I am so very sorry about your friend.
I am doing 5k runs (not cycling) as major storms headed our way. Yesterday, I went out in moderate wind, and today it was light rain. Just gorgeous out both days. I am not sure I will be saying this later when the main storm hits. Got my taxes finalized and out the door as we will most likely lose power and internet.
Off to the farmers market before hunkering in for the rest of the day and most likely tomorrow.
Actually looking forward to a bit of enforced leisure! - Claire
-
Stay safe, Claire, those storms look wicked!
-
Stay safe Claire, lots like lots of rain headed your way. Sounds like a great evening Badger. Congratulations on the great run lifelover.
This morning did Body Combat another 'pink' event put on by my gym chain and when we got to the last track the two instructors called me up front and then asked were there any other survivors (they know me so know about me) there were 3 others and they had us up front with them for the last boxing track looking out at a room filled with friends and acquaintances, it was very emotional to see some of them crying and there was lots of hugging after the class. Can't believe this time next week we'll be in San Antonio, woohooooo!!!!!
LB I even remembered when they said left you use your right as you're the mirror!!!!! -
Hope you are okay, Claire. The weather sure has been scary over much of the country.
That being said, it's very, very nice here. Sunny, calm, and 71! Took a walk and did some toning.
-
Quiet, if wet, here so far. But the storm is supposed to come later. Took a hot bath just in case
-
Ginger, I'm sorry for your loss of your friend. I know that's hard to go through.
Cheryl that does sound like an emotional event. I'm always surprised how many women who have traveled the same road, no matter what setting you are in.
Badger, my mom had Herb Alpert and Sergio Mendes albums. I remember them well. In fact that's probably where I started my love of latin music. And then of course later we had Santana.
My husband and I walked the trail one hour today. We were in search of fall color, but it still hasn't turned a lot here. Perhaps not enough cold nights. I'm OK to postpone it if the warm weather can last.
Ate some rotisserie chicken, slaw and grilled vegetables - day one of getting back on the wagon. Took a nice hot shower and I'm settling in for some playoff baseball.
-
Ginger - I also am so sorry about your friend. I lost a brother-in-law a couple of years ago after a 10-year battle with various cancers. He had many visits to Mayo Clinic over that time and each time they would beat one cancer another one would eventually rear it's ugly head. It's hard when someone you love fights for so long and then they lose the battle after all. Heartfelt sympathy to you.
I got up early today (6:15 on a Saturday - eeeeew!) to get my c25k workout in before traveling across the state for a baby shower. We live in west Michigan and the shower was in Troy. For those not familiar with Michigan Troy is in the Southeast area of the state generally known to most as simply 'Detroit'. Fremont is about 60 minutes northwest of Grand Rapids. Three and a half hour drive over there (DH driving), three and a half hours there, then just under three hour drive back (with ME driving.....lol).
Note to self: doing a 60 minute walk/run (eight 3-minute run segments) followed by a quick shower and straight into a 3.5 hour drive is not conducive to being able to walk when debarking from the vehicle. OMG I almost fell right down with my first step because of kinks all over from the hips down!
Kicking back right now, tomorrow is a rest day from c25k but need to do a bunch of baking after church for a BC bake sale competition at the office on Monday. The department with the most baked goods donations wins something (don't know what yet). I will for sure do banana bread and frosted funfetti cake mix cookies. Maybe some scotcharoos and probably some pistachio bread and lemon poppy seed bread. Oh, and potato chip cookies. Brought some of those in the other day and they were a big hit. Sounds like a lot but they're all pretty simple recipes. Excited about packaging it all up as I bought a bunch of various cute containers at Hobby Lobby yesterday.
Busy week coming up. Chiropractor and tan after work on Monday, 45 minute body massage after work on Tuesday, reflexology foot massage after work on Wednesday followed by choir rehearsal, then packing for San Antonio Thursday evening and an early flight Friday morning. Followed by 5 whole days with miles and miles of walking and fun with Cherylhb, Badger, Ruthbru, Patoo and Nissa Villa and new friends yet to be met on this year's survivor sisters adventure!
G-night all
-
Ginger, I'm sorry to read about your friend, gentle hugs to you. Cheryl, you know those tracks inside and out and how to mirror
- I'll bet that was an emotional ending to a beautiful class. Checked the LM NZ spring limited edition to their class schedules 3rd Oct - 27 Nov and makes me wonder why..why these 3 and why this timing. As you know, the corporate tribe do nothing without a complete plan behind it.
Dark, gray raining morning and having a day of rest, well sort of, will do housework chores.
-
Badger, a recording of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass was one of the first albums we ever listened to on our reel to reel tape machine (in the early 70's). We listened to it over and over. I love their smooth sound. Well done on your walk.
Claire, hope you are safe from the bad weather. I have a bicycle that I really should use more. I've been reading about how helpful cross training is to a runner. I need some inspiration as it's a bit chilly here.
Cheryl I used to do a Body Combat class and I loved it. Maybe I'll try it again. It's a tough workout but I particularly hated the abdominal crunches. I used to just sit it out or pretend I was doing it but just raise my knees up to my chest and relax into the floor
Lisa - did you say potato chip cookies? You really shouldn't have
as I must try them now. Will look up a recipe online. Well done with your hour long walk/run. I was just reading this great book by Lisa Jackson called Your Pace or Mine and she says how much walking sections of marathons actually improved her finishing times.
I pushed it too much yesterday as now my cold is worse and in my chest. Well, live and learn. Think I'll make those cookies now. Yes, in case you all haven't noticed I have a terrible sweet tooth. And I miss American Halloween candy (we can buy it here at a few select places and online but the prices are very high).

Thanks for all the worry about me, but the storm turned out to be a major bust. It was much windier on Friday. Nothing more than lots of rain and extremely low pressure.
Lifelover...sending inspiration your way. Hoping to get back on mine later today. Just an easy trail as expect some flooding. The key to cycling when it's colder out is proper gear. This includes gloves and a wool helmet liner. I have fleece tights and wear old warm cashmere sweaters underneath my windbreaker. When it's really cold, I wear a scarf. If I get really chilled cycling, a nice hot bath puts everything right. You probably have one of those nice large English tubs, and of course, a trip to Boots sets you up with lovely soaking potions. (My sister keeps me in L'Occitane.)
I need some new fleece running tights (that don't have seat padding). Mine were repurposed cycling tights (w/o padding) that have turned into a wardrobe malfunction. I have mended them once. Have been looking on Active GearUp.
I should probably add intervals to my running routine. I counted myself as being accomplished just to be out there the past 2 days.
On the subject of running, I have noticed that trail running greatly improves my general agility and balance. My nurse said to me that all of us should walk/run outside on uneven ground where possible.
I had a funny eBay experience yesterday. I bought an item, but the seller didn't know whether a dress, light coat or bathrobe. It's one of my favorite designers and my size. I can use a bathrobe, so will most likely use it that way. Unless, I think it works better as a dress!
Anyway, glad to be past the storm. Have a ton of work to do as didn't do all that much on Friday (other than finalize my taxes). Hoping we have a bit of sun today as rumors of a Pacific NW drought are greatly exaggerated. - Claire
-
lifelover - yes - potato chip cookies! I come from a Dutch background and I figure some frugal Dutch woman in days of yore couldn't bring herself to toss perfectly good potato chip crumbs and decided to throw them in her sugar cookie dough instead. Got the recipe from an old church cookbook of my mom's. Wonderful mix of sweet and salty.
Did you find a recipe? I just made nine dozen and could recite it with little effort if necessary.
No targeted workout today. Just a lot of walking here and there in the kitchen and standing and stirring. Oh, and a few trips up and down the stairs doing laundry.
Heading to the store to pick up a few things i'm short of for the next baking project.
xoxoxoxo
-
My view for a walk today. Was able to get in 4 miles with a good friend!
-
Pretty scene, Logang i see you dont have much fall color either yet. Ours seems to be delayed this year.
30 minute walk.
-
Half an hour of upper body & been doing 'house stuff' the rest of the day.
-
I spent my day volunteering at a golf tournament for DD's work. Our fall colors are beautiful this year.
Lifelover- congrats on your pb time! I have not run in 2 weeks due to crud and back muscle spasms but I plan to try again soon.
-
Ginger: I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. (((Hug)))
Badger: I love Herb Albert! My daddy had all of his albums (plus Al Hirt's albums) and I listened to them all the time. He also had Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 albums. As a matter of fact, I got married at my parents house and as I walked down the isle (i.e., the driveway), the band was playing "The Look of Love." I love hearing that song on the radio!
Logang: Pretty picture!
Sweet: Well now I've heard everything: Potato Chip cookies! I bet they're delicious.
Walked/ran this evening.
-
It's pretty in North Dakota too.
-
Gorgeous pictures, we do live in a beautiful country.
This morning did Body Combat - my friend is visiting from Tennessee for a couple of days so lots of eating the rest of the day as we catch up with her other local friends.
Um Sweet if you have any cookies left over pack them in your suitcase Ruth and I will help dispose of them
