Let's Post our Daily Exercise

hi all and welcome Blinkie! Some here are more active than others but we encourage all movement. We like to laugh but never at one another's expense. I started a walking program with a slow shuffle to the mailbox and back. Built up over the years and now am over 6k miles walked since dx. See my sig line, that's where I keep track.
Three laps around the park this morning - 30 mins walked.
Got a head of cabbage from a friend whose CSA box runneth over so making galumpkis for supper.
-
Hi Blinke, we must have been posting at the same time. SO glad to see you over here!!! Every tiny step you take is still a step forward!!! And you just start where you start.
I got up super early to bring DS to the airport, he is off for a Florida vacation (one of his good friends lives in the Orlando area). Hope the hurricane veers in a different direction! Anyway, DH & I will be the 'custodial parents' of his two cats & one puppy for the week. I foresee many puppy walks in my near future.
-
I haven't had a chance to post much. I have been walking 1-2 miles everyday and can't remember the last time I skipped a day. I used to take a day or two off a week. I bought a Garmin vevofit a few weeks ago and I love it! It really does motivate me to move! I am an RN and I work in home health. Some days I have as few as 3,000 steps in after a day of work, so I really have to work to get my goal met. I have worked up to a goal of about 9,500 steps per day this week. I don't have much trouble on the weekends. I ended up with 12,500 steps yesterday after 1.5 miles on the dreadmill and a trip to the local corn maze with friends last night.
-
It was another rainy day here, but I decided I'd just take my umbrella and walk in the rain. I was tired of being cooped up, so I took a 40 minute walk at the park, and surprisingly I was not the only one. I saw a couple walking their dog, a bunch of older teenagers, and three boys about 10 riding their bikes.
-
Had a crazy busy week and basically ended up going to Body Combat most nights did have a rest day Tuesday when the dreaded sore throat that everyone has reared its ugly head, so I stayed in and gargled, gargled, gargled and woke up Wednesday just fine, whew cause I hate summer colds. Did a lot of yard work yesterday, chopping my bougainvilla back, worked until the green bin was full and then quit. Today went to Body Pump and Body Attack and a quick stroll around the mall while I had some jewelry repaired.
-
Welcome Blinkie! Glad you're here!
Badger: I've never had galumpkis. The recipe looks good!
Ruth: Have fun with your grandfurs this week!
Logang: Glad your Garmin vevofit is helping you get to your goal.
TH: Walking in the rain can be a lot of fun!
Cheryl: Thank goodness your gargling got rid of the sore throat!
Walked/ran yesterday and today. My dh's 95 year old aunt is in the hospital with C diff. since Wednesday. We have been visiting her daily. Luckily today she is starting to feel better. C diff is AWFUL!!!
Here's one more pumpkin I painted for our local adult day care's fundraiser. This year I've only painted 26 of them - last year my dd and I painted 93!
-
Love the above pumpkin Wonderland! Long day ahead. Pink Ribbon Pilates, Blockfit and BB in the evening. Not much yesterday as I spent most of it in hospital with 93 year old neighbor who fell and broke his right hip. Waited for his son who lives a distance to arrive and chilled from 4pm on when I got home. Good to read everyone is moving forward and active. Have a good start to the week everyone!
-
karen, when you see this, hope you had a Happy Rosh Hashanah! Claire, that's a looong Trail. Twohobbies, love rainy day walks. octogirl, woohoo on those dives.
Wonderland, love the cat-in-the-moon pumpkin. Hope your aunt recovers quickly now. LilacBlue, lucky for your neighbor that you were around.
Cheryl, in case I need to do it, did you gargle with salt or another solution? badger, the galumpis look yummy!
I am now in the throes of teenager-induced stress and didn't have time to exercise all weekend. I absolutely have to do something today. In case I don't get to Body Jam tonight I need to go for a walk or run like now...
-
Dog walk this morning & POUND. I'm taking off in a couple minutes for an overnight get-together with 3 of my oldest friends (we started teaching together in 1975!) We try to meet up somewhere in the middle of where we live a couple times a year. Lots of food, visiting & a little shopping. I should be back in time for yoga tomorrow night.
-
Wonderland I love that pumpkin, you are so creative. Heidi I just mixed about 3 tablespoons of iodized salt in a glass of warm water and gargled the whole thing. LB hope your neighbor is okay, breaking a hip at that age is not good, next Tuesday the Y near my house is adding a Flow class at 6pm which is going to put me in a dilemma as it's the night I do Grit and CX but that gym is an hour away in peak hour traffic so I may be converting. Have fun with your friends Ruth, can't believe San Antonio is coming up in 3 weeks.
Did Body Jam class tonight, instructor announced today she is pregnant says she'll dance for as long as possible but it means we'll probably lose it as she's the only teacher we have boo hoo it's my absolute favourite class. -
Cheryl, neighbor on the mend from surgery and will take some time and most likely to a rehab hospital soon. As you know, at least 1 flow class a week is what LM recommends and hitting traffic at that hour, ugh. One newish' older instructor (citing age not ageism - because she is not overly teachable, a bit of a know it all) told me she wants to certify in Flow and asked if she had ever taken a class or yoga, and nope, never has. Proceeded to tell me that she could use her choreograph notes etc..this would be her 1st. LM qualification. LM virtual is now at my main gym, no one teaches B'Jam out here yet you can dial it up on the big screen and the spin studio is always now busy with RPM presenters and I don't think they have have 'trip' to spin to. HeidiHill, we have weekly teen crisis, oh, those hormones.
Team teaching with a friend at the gym this am as she asked me and it's her first time delivering the release (she teaches 3 other LM classes, flow her last release to learn), as I'm on my 3rd week with it. Husband working from home today, son soon to leave for school and I'd better jump and get in gear to get this day moving forward.
-
I had a fun, fun time with my girlfriends. I probably gained 5 pounds in one night!!!!! Got home in time to walk the puppy and go to yoga.
-
Ruth, Come to Denver and I'll cook for you!
Heidi, thanks. We had a quiet holiday. The only meal we had company for was lunch today and it was just 1 friend. Lots of yummy leftovers that we will eat the next couple days! I made a yummy split pea and barley soup with diced chicken for dinner ladt night. It was probably my favorite meal. First soup of the season. I might just freeze it. I was thinking today that it is the first time in 30 years that neither of my daughters were home. This year my son was with us. It is the first year that my youngest daughter is not here. She sent pictures with her friends and said she had a good holiday but missed us. I missed her too! Still getting use done to this empty nest thing!!!
Back to work tomorrow. I checked work emails a bit ago and there were so many!! I only responded to a few and will do the rest tomorrow while playing catch up!
The weather is cooling off the next couple days but will be back to the 70's by the weekend. I'm ready for the cooler weather but I don't like the shorter days!!!it might almost be time to put the sandals away!!
-
I'm ready to come back to this thread
which is so very inspiring to hear all of your stories !!! I joined a gym a couple of months after chemo and kept at it for almost a year when I got a frozen shoulder. I stopped working out and gained quite a bit of weight.
I've finally lost the weight. 35 pounds. Very proud of me. And I am now running 3 times a week. I'm quite slow but I sweat a lot and I work as hard as I can. I run 3 miles and sometimes 4 when I feel strong. That's my max. Honestly, it is really difficult for me but I love the high I get from running. I've been doing it for 4 months now and I'm hoping I can eventually run a 10K.
-
Doing housework this morning and then will launch into starting classwork. Might go for a walk to Dunkin later if I get everything done that I am doing. Workout tonight.
-
LB a few of the newer gyms have the screens and I was so excited as one near me had LM on it, so I was Sh'bamming like crazy in that room and then for some reason they took it off, I have the "on demand" and I do use it to RPM and Sh'bam, don't think they'll ever get the "Trip" you need a special studio, it's very Tron like all futuristic lights, there is a Trip studio in the Santa Monica 24. Wonder what your "friends" assessment video will look like!!!!! Welcome back lifelover congratulations on the weight loss. Karen happy Rosh Hashana.
Last night did Grit Strength and CX Worx
Edited to add: after 2 weeks of waiting, yes two damned weeks finally got the results of my mammogram, all good for another year - you know that my mind has been working overtime since I didn't hear .from them, I have a doctors appointment on November 2nd and I'm going to "talk" to him about this, it was done at a breast center and I know they have radiologists on site to read the film or rather digital image as(they did this for me last year, on one hand I'm doing the "happy dance" on the other I'm mad as heck!!!!
-
Hi All! Been a busy few days. Did Pilates and Country Heat and today did 21 day fix lower body. I also have been cleaning out the gardens for winter👎🏻!
We are going to be gone on vacation for two weeks starting next Thursday and I don't like doing the garden work when it's nasty out. I do feel like a murderer taking them out before the frost gets them!
Ruth I admire your patience with all the kitchen problems not sure I would do as well!
For all of you who may be in Matthew's path stay safe
-
Cheryl, ABSOLUTELY talk to your doctor about the delay (for which there is no excuse). We have to be advocates; not only for ourselves, but for other women as well!
Life, congratulations on the exercise and weight loss. You SHOULD be proud of yourself!
Planb, have fun on your vacation.
Patoo, I hope you are okay. I am kind of nervous for DS who is vacationing in your area. Yikes!

Well, still haven't been well enough to even take a walk, but I did get through both today and yesterday without napping. That's not much but it's progress. My exercise is not being horizontal all the time. haha.
It's fun to read what everyone is posting even if I have no idea what you are talking about half the time.
ruthbru - who are your friends in the photo? You probably said, but I missed it. I don't know how you all keep track of each other's posts well enough to respond to them. I think my brain is stuck in the slow setting.
-
Lifelover, fantastic on the weight loss, particularly if on AL's. Were you on a low calorie, say under 1200 a day diet, coupled with running..this inquiring mind would like to know. Cheryl, glad everything is good to go for you and yeah, give a bit of what you think regarding the wait time. They renovated the spin studio end of August and lights are up, whole new LM system in two studios but perhaps the Trip in spin studio is more costly (I'm sure it is)? When the topic comes up, I'm amazed at how many have LM on demand and that includes instructors. Don't know what it costs in US, but here it's £10. a month and super cheap compared to gym membership. We have no room in anywhere in our home nor a spin cycle. Blinkie, the best way to combat fatigue, treatment/recovery deep, bone tired tiredness, is to move - be active and walking is the absolute best place to start, such as, the perimeter of your backyard, then work towards two laps, then perhaps is a short time, half a block, keep at it daily, building on distance/time as you feel stronger and able. It's the only way to bat back fatigue, regaining what has been lost - to move. Baby steps to start - the key is consistency. Terrific photo Ruth!
Day off working out today, getting hair colored and to meet Dr.'s tomorrow afternoon to discuss cancer rehab workshop at the surgery, so watch this space!
-
Did a 20 minute workout last night. Going to walk to Dunkin this morning for a treat.
-
Lilacblue - Thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing shortness of breath from any exertion. This is new for me and I have assumed it is from starting anastrozole. I've just had lots of tests to rule out other causes and I'm happy to report that I'm very healthy. Well, I am a healthy sick person or a sick healthy person. haha. Today I hope to speak with the medical oncologist again to see what's next.
My 'backyard' is about 40 acres. Made me laugh to think of walking it but actually, maybe that would be a good longer term goal - to be able to easily walk the fence. It's a good workout because it involves going down into a woods and then climbing back up.
What is an LM system? Let's Move? Like Muffins? Lead Mamas?
-
Hi everyone - I've not been posting lately but have been reading posts - Wonder, I love your pumpkins! Blinkie - as everyone says, baby steps. All of us here know exactly how that fatigue feels - Lilac put it perfectly with "bone tired". But it does get better - just a lot more slowly that we want. It'll come for you too. Do what you can for now, even if that's just staying vertical, and be good to yourself. And at 40 acres, you probably shouldn't try to walk around your backyard quite yet! Lifelover - I'm impressed!!! Frozen shoulder is no picnic. Karen - glad your daughter sent pix so you could share her holiday too. Ruth - your Wednesday Walking Women had a big group this week! Cheryl - you do keep busy! Lilac - so excited about the possibility of a cancer workshop at the hospital - keep us informed!
DH is actually in your neck of the woods now, Cheryl - just up Beach Blvd about 20 miles. His mom was admitted to the hospital this weekend with dehydration and low oxygen levels. She went from the hospital to the rehab center, where they wanted to keep her all week, but she reared up and said she had to leave on Wednesday because her son was coming to visit! She's 88 years old and about 88 pounds, but I wouldn't mess with her, and I think the rehab center felt the same way as she was discharged yesterday just like she wanted. She's much better now. She has oxygen available, but only has to use it if her levels drop. She was never a smoker, but it seems all those years living in LA's air pollution have taken a toll on her lungs. She has an extensive gardening project planned for DH, so he's going to be getting his own workout for the next few days.
I've been keeping up with my running, and have a 5K race on Saturday. This one is for the Gettysburg YWCA's breast cancer support program. Ruth - you'd love it as part of the course runs along the Gettysburg Battlefield.
-
Yes, I would love the course! I have done a lille accidental jogging while trying to keep up with the grand-puppy. Your MIL will probably wear DH out!
-
Blinke, I am a retired teacher and the ladies in the picture are retired teachers too. We meet every Wednesday at 8:00. We walk for an hour and eat for two. Very fun!
POUND & Yoga this morning.
Patoo, I hope you guys are okay. I've been texting with DS who is hunkered down at his friend's house. Not quite the Florida vacation he had invisioned!
-
hi all and welcome back lifelover. Congrats on minus 35 lbs!
Walked after work the last few days plus 7th inning stretch break at work.
Blinkie, LM is Les Mills, a fitness franchise with classes some of the ladies here do (e.g. Body Pump)
Got a bunch of kale from a friend at work so simmering a batch of this soup tonight.

Hope all the FL and East Coasters stay safe!
-
hi all - not a real good fitness week for me. Saturday's workout just totally wiped me out. Rest day Sunday with a 4hour nap! Monday workout was another real struggle and have not worked out so we. Planning on playing catch up tomorrow a bit.
DD weathered the hurricane at Guantanamo Bay Cuba (works for the Navy). Was pretty stressful for her but thank God she's ok. she said 'i'm alive. And I need a freaking nap!' hope her new coworkers didn't get to experience cranky Michelle. We've always called her tropical storm Michelle because she leaves debris behind wherever she goes!⛈🌪🌪🌪🌩🌩⛈⛈
Cya in San Antonio!
-
I generally only work 4 days/week, Monday through Thursday. But with taking so much time off for my holidays, I'm working 4 Fridays starting last week. At dinner I said to my son, I don't know I did it all those years working full time! His response was that I was younger and I didn't have cancer!! Gotta love that boy....really man as he is 27!! I worked full time till 2008.
DD was texted me earlier to find how how I make quinoa and what I season my chicken with. One of her best friends who is also in Israel and from Denver but at a different school is going to stay with DD for Shabbat. It is her friend's 18th birthday on Saturday. While DD was texting me, I realize it's 2:40 am her time! Finally she says, I'm going to bed, I'll talk to you tomorrow! She'll call me around 6:00am Denver time so I need to be sure that I get up on time and shower before she calls. I have to leave at 7:00 to go to a training on the other side of town, and if I want a morning walk, I need to be walking by 6:15!
-
Hi All. Just a quick check in for now. Enjoyed catching up on everyone!
Cheryl: congrates on the good mammo and sorry about the long wait.
Ruth: Yikes for your ds! I would be so nervous.
Does anyone know how Patoo and mysunshine are doing?
Walked/ran early this evening.
