It must be 'new shoe' week, I bought a pair of very comfy Nikes and I ordered a pair of Reebok dance shoes for Body Jam/Zumba. Karen I did a Purim mailing yesterday the members got a beautiful box of cookies, I know because the Rabbi told me I could keep the leftovers and there was one box left, yup I've eaten 3/4s of them.
Tonight did Grit Strength and CX Worx which is a core class done with bands. -
Woke up to a treat...SNOW DAY!! When I went to bed last night, sure didn't expect school to be cancelled today so it is a nice treat!! We have blizzard warnings due to high winds and 5 to 10 inches of snow predicted for the day. My son works the night shift and he posted on fb the following: I don't say this very often, but if you don't have to be somewhere this morning, DO NOT go out driving. The roads are super slick and the snow is coming down heavy and wet. I could barely see on my 10 minute drive home. Stay safe Colorado
Mom has a neurologist appt this afternoon, but I'm going to cancel it. It will be too hard to get her in and out of the car. Hopefully it won't take forever to get a new appt.
Going to bundle up later this morning, 8 or 9 am and go for a walk...snow pants, parka and boots!! Got to get my steps in. Not going to drive to the mall to walk!!
Have a good day
-
40 minutes hill walking and then lots of pruning--plants are going nuts from recent rain and warmer weather.
Karen - We were supposed to be heading towards NM this week, but my BF got delayed. So, looks like we will leave Sunday and arrive in the middle of the week, spend a few days there visiting my relatives (I'm a Abq native), and then head to Denver. I'll private message you with my email information. Would love to get together. It's nice that you got a "snow" day due to the snow, but I definitely understand how difficult it is to get people with mobility issues in/out of the car and places when it's like that. It scares my grandmother to bits as she broke her hip two years ago. It's a good thing you rescheduled your mom's appt. Do you ski? I have not skied in several years, and was I supposed to be on a ski trip this week that got canceled. Skiing in NM or CO would be a great alternative.
-
Badger, I'm glad to know I'm not the only person obsessed with Pyrex. I have an unnatural attachment to mine
Ruth, so glad you are feeling better. I am better as well. Sunday was the first day in two weeks that I could breathe out of my nose. Good thing too, because it was race day! I took third place out of the 29 women in my age group, so I was pleased. This was the last one in my winter run series so I'm taking a racing break. Heading to Naples, FL, soon for a girls trip with some of my relatives. Cannot wait to get some sun!Ran 40 minutes on the treadmill today as we have freezing rain and apparently snow on the way
-
Karen & Katcar, I hope you can get together.....it is so much fun! And of course, you will have to post a picture! Meljo, congratulations of the race & have fun in Florida! Here is a picture of our walking group this morning (I don't know why it got so big, but I don't know how to shrink it). We used the Easter display at the Mall for our background, but one of the retired elementary teachers just so happened to have all the headgear on hand). I must completely better because I cleaned the house this afternoon!
-
Ruth: Great picture and love the accessories!
Karen: I heard about your weather on the news tonight. You are brave to go out walking in it! Happy Purim.
meljo: Glad you are feeling better and congratulations on your 3rd place.
Hi All. Another beautiful day. Walked/ran this afternoon.
-
Congratulations on your 3rd place Meljo. Cute bunnies Ruth. Wonderland I've just finished reading a book set in NC, one day I'm coming to visit . Karen I have a friend in Denver and she posted a picture of her car on FB today, well I assume it was her car under a great big mound of snow brrrr.
Tonight did a Body Combat class
-
No walks for me today...the weather was brutal and when the snow stopped it was too slushy...it was only 28 degrees so the snow was really wet. The blizzard was worse than predicted. Initially it was only 5 - 10 inches for the metro area but 40-50 mph wind gusts. Well, I got at least 15 inches on my driveway. Cheryl check out the couple pictures on my fb page. It took me 3 goes at it to get the driveway and the only reason that few is that my neighbor did part of it for me.....And shoveling snow doesn't get the steps in....just made it to 10K. Thank goodness we had a snow day. My district is calling a late start but the surrounding districts are cancelled...MY district says if changes are made it will be by 5 am. The main streets get plowed but not the side streets. IF you get out of the ruts on my street you are stuck!! I'm hoping they'll change their mind and call a snow day...BUT it was an eventful day especially for my DH. DH's flight was cancelled so he couldn't get home. He was in Tampa for business and DIA closed the airport so his flight was delayed for several hours then cancelled. NOT a flight to be found till Saturday...since we keep Shabbat that meant Sunday, so he decided to rent a car and drive. At first he thought he would drive the 27 hours home over 3 days, but when I started looking for flights from different airports he decided to try to find a flight. We would find one, they when we would try to book it, it wasn't available. Son booked him a flight for tomorrow morning, NOT, but put the wrong date (September)!! He made it safely to Atlanta. NOT a flight to be found tomorrow out of Atlanta but he is booked on a flight for Friday. We looked at so many different airports....Orlanda, FLL, Memphis, Atlanta, Kansas City....Everything was booked as it is spring break!! But at least he will be home Friday.
I am exhausted....but DD is out and waiting for her to get home....she is only about 1 1/2 miles away, but want to be sure she is okay. She is at a friends with a bunch of school friends watching a movie...She doesn't have school tomorrow because its Purim (she does to a Jewish Day School) so she can sleep in later...she gets up at 6:30 on school days!
Night and sweet dreams

25 minute workout last night.
-
I am another one with a boring routine which is why I haven't been posting. But that will change as off for a final weekend of skiing which is also in celebration of finishing up the monster project. Of course, all my other work still awaits me.
I can't wait for some real time outside. Preferably in the sunshine.
Anyway, for those of us who are generally hurting from exertion, I inspired our lovely young intern to get on his bicycle. He could hardly walk!!! I am still smiling. He was really impressed by the 50 miles I logged over the weekend.
Spring cycling will take off when I return starting with the Emerald City ride which will coincide with the opening of the new floating bridge. Hoping for a clear, sunny day.
One more day of work, an early show (Burlesque Alice in Wonderland), and then off in the early AM for four days of FUN!!! - Claire
-
Another snow day for me!! I woke up before 5 and went to the computer to check to see if late start turned into a snow....saw it was and went back to bed till 7 when my SIL called me. Normally at 7 I'm almost out the door to work so no reason for him to think its too early! I didn't go to bed till 1:00 am as I needed to wait till DD got home...This mama can't go to bed if she's out. So I'm tired today. The main streets are good, but were icy early this morning...its the neighborhood streets that are a disaster. My neighborhood is one lane only because of the ruts where people are driving...as well as parked cars so its a bit dicey! Hopefully with the sun a good amount will melt...which means icy again tonight and in the morning..Its supposed to be in the high 40's today. Getting ready to go for a walk, I think the sidewalks should be fine where people have shoveled, of course not everyone does!! Be back later!
-
Karen, my niece who lives in Denver, was trying to fly out yesterday and spent the whole night in the airport! What a mess! She finally got out of there today.
I subbed in 7th grade science today. It was fun because they were studying vertebrates & I actually know what vertebrates are . Fitbit says I got 6,500 steps just walking around the room. It is a really nice day here so I also took a 45 minute walk after school. (Now I am going to sit around and do nothing because I am pooped!).
-
Boring walking workout here but so happy I seem to have hit a rythem with it. And am seeing some results.
-
Happy Birthday to Cheryl! Hope you had a great day with lots of cake and fun!
-
Thank you Ruth, I had a crazy busy day at work, came home and went to Body Step where there were cupcakes (the instructor is pregnant and it was her last class before baby so she brought pink and blue cupcakes to celebrate and after class they sang to me, so yes I had cake) now I'm about to have Indian food for my birthday dinner, yummmmm
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL!
Karen: Your dh has had a time! Glad he's able to come home tomorrow.
Ruth:You're cracking me up about the vertebrates! So happy you're feeling good again.
Walked/ran this evening. It was windy but nothing like Denver has been getting.
-
The sun melted a lot of the snow and even the streets in my neighborhood are pretty clear....Walked this afternoon and it was gorgeous out.....but so slushy my feet were wet in my snow boots. I decided not to walk tonight as I figured all the snow/water that melted was turning to ice and I didn't want to fall!! So another 10K day. I will try to get up and out early tomorrow morning.
Even though I walk a good amount, basically I'm a lazy person...if I can't walk, I have no other form of exercise...I don't like going to the gym and I don't do exercise videos.
I've been doing good with not snacking the past few days....now just need to keep it up and hopefully I can shed a few pounds.
-
ANTHER HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISH TO CHERYL! Sorry it's so late, but just caught this before turning in.
Karen - I think we'd make good exercise companions, lol. I was sitting talking to my BF today in the garden and was pruning from where I was sitting. I joked about "arm chair" gardening, ha. Seriously, have been doing a lot of pruning overhead, and I find that exhausting.
My 93 year old grandmother was so looking forward to seeing her first great grandbaby but my cousins' flight was canceled going into Denver, so they are going to have to go later in April or May. Such a shame as every day is precious at my grandmother's age. I hear another storm is on the way on Sat? That may affect my travel plans--will have to keep a watch on things.
Reader - I've made peace with my exercise routine. It's what works for me. I am active all day anyway. I do wish I had more upper body musculature, but I am not going to beat myself up about it. Poco a poco, as they say here (little by little).
-
Happy Birthday, Cheryl!
Glad you are feeling better, Ruth. Love the walking group picture. They seem like a fun group!
Karen- snow days are fun at the moment; not so much at make up days. Glad your neighborhood is getting back to normal.
Meljo- Congrats on 3rd place. That's great
I am doing great with swimming but I am struggling with getting on that treadmill. I think I am going to do a modified Couch to 5k and get my running routine back up.
I did swim yesterday morning and got in a 4 mile walk outside after school. We had a professional development day and I am not good at sitting for hours.
On the bright side, I am down 13 pounds in 6 weeks. I am completely off sugar. But it is Easter weekend so I am hoping I can hold onto that...
-
Wow! Good for you Ginger!
I went to yoga, and since it has turned cold & windy (no snow, so I'm not complaining), I also did some time on the dreadmill. I suppose I will have to go out and buy some groceries..... unless I decide to serve macaroni & cheese for Easter!
-
That's awesome, Ginger! Good for you!
Ruth - "dreadmill" hahahaha. It is definitely that. LOVE your group photo with the Easter bunnies!
40 min. walk/hike today. Gorgeous mornings here but gusty winds every afternoon lately.
-
Hi, yes, I've been MIA for a few days (badger will understand) as moving is lots of work but we are now out of the old place and into our new home so have been trying to unpack in an organized fashion - not fun, nor easy! So my exercise the last week or so has been lifting/pulling/cleaning/etc. Finally got back to do 4-miles with Leslie Sansone this morning. Exercise felt good though it's hard when you fall away so intend to keep it up now.
Later sculpted friends.
-
Ginger...we've had 4 snow days this school year...My school district builds time into the school day/year so we don't have to make up the snow days.
Katcar...if you get to Denver, lets meet to walk
Not a good walking day.....was going to walk before dinner but got a call regarding my Mom from where she lives...she is not safe with her mobility scooter and there were 2 incidents in the past 2 days...of course this sent me into a tizzy as I was at Mom's this afternoon and she didn't tell me. The SW spoke with Mom after she called me and then Mom called me...We are going to get it figured out....
Need to get ready for Shabbat. DH finally made it home today 2 1/2 days late...but he's home till next trip next week!!
See everyone tomorrow night!!
-
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and Ruth I loved your card . Today a kind of easy day went out with a friend for a pedicure and lunch at a Japanese restaurant then did a little gardening, picked my first roses of the season.
Patoo good to hear you have moved in to your new home, I'm sure all that all of the bending and lifting and unpacking was hard work. Karen your husbands adventure sounds like one of my favourite moves 'Planes Trains and Automobiles' hope he made it home safely.
-
I try to walk every day. Sometimes add a bike ride. I have never done yoga, but would like to try that if I can find time.
-
Patoo, Sounds like the class was not cancelled! Good for you! I did two trips to Home Depot today.....in the car. Ha Ha
Ruth, I agree with Wonderland.....funny about the vertebraes.
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
-
Happy birthday, Cheryl, if a bit late! I made curry last night so was celebrating with you somehow.
Good for you, GoodbyeGirl, and welcome to this thread!
Went for a walk with DD in the rain yesterday. Today she's off backcountry snowboarding with DH and I'm on my own. DH was running a fever yesterday so I don't know if that was the smartest thing to do for him.
-
hi all and welcome GoodbyeGirl. Mother Nature reared her icy head here too, with sleet, snow & freezing rain. I like winter but am ready for spring. Been slammed at work so desk breaks are all the walking I've done this week. Plan to get out for a nice long walk this afternoon. I need some new sneaks too.
Jealous of your first roses, Cheryl, no drought this year so I bet they're gorgeous. Happy belated birthday!
patoo, congrats on moving into new house and yes I sure do understand!
Ruth, glad you're feeling better. Loved this week's WWW pic.
My mouth is watering thinking about hamentashen & rugelach. Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
-
Welcome GoodbyeGirl, when I first started yoga, I didn't know it I'd like it, but now it is one of my favorite things. So, I think if you can fit it in to your schedule, you will enjoy it too.
Still cold here so I think I will try another of Badger's Zumba DVDs.
-
One of the reasons I have delayed pursuing yoga is because of my implant reconstruction. My pec muscles are so cut up, weak and low to non-functional, I am afraid I will not be able to do much of it. I read that many of the positions are very difficult for recon patients because of the cut chest muscles.
Also, I had all the lymph nodes removed on one side. Is yoga triggering lymphedema a concern?
