I went back to work today so no exercise today. Tomorrow we have a half day so I plan on doing better tomorrow.
Aww, mysunshine those must be your grandkids. Sweet!
Ruth if you get that convertible I see no reason why you shouldn't drive it down to Florida to show Patoo. Pick me up on your way down!
One year I hope to make that trip. Last year was not to be. Lots of good place to choose from.

MySunshine...your grands are adorable
Be back shortly....time to get ready for evening walk!!!

Darling picture, mysunshine!
Door County is beautiful but you really do need a car (and there are no Wyndhams), all the Wyndhams in Colorado are at least 2 hours away from Denver. I would go anywhere, but I am leaning toward New York City myself because of the public transportation, closeness to an airport, and of course, the many, many things to do. I don't know NYC at all (I was last there in 1977) but here is the description of the accommodations from the Wyndham website:
"A Prime Position in Midtown Manhattan. Wyndham Midtown 45 at New York City, one of the newest CLUB WYNDHAM Plus resorts, is a serene, sophisticated oasis in the heart of Manhattan. Located on 45th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, Wyndham Midtown 45 at New York City is less than a mile from many of New York City's major attractions such as Grand Central Station and the United Nations, as well as Park, Madison and Fifth Avenues. It offers easy access to Times Square, the Theatre District and the SoHo and Tribeca neighborhoods — all located less than four miles away."
Another choice is to see what would be open this spring, or wait until fall, and do a 'hot' place. But that wouldn't work so well for Karen and other 'school people'.
* edited to add I went to Zumba and Yoga
-
I love the idea of NYC because even if school is not out, I could come down on the weekend. Our last day is scheduled for June 8th but snow days usually extend us a week or solater.
-
Ruth, your walking group always looks like so much fun.
I walked an hour at the Y this evening. The staff are talking about how crazy it will be next week when all the people who received gift memberships or made new year's resolutions start packing the place. Oh, great!

Hi, everybody, I am feeling horrendous. I don't know if this is still the Tamoxifen working its way out of my system. I can barely move to do anything. It is not depression. My body has simply gone on strike.
First, my Mom, Anne (pron Ani) got her scan and lab results this week. She has Stage IV breast cancer. She is 85 years old on a heavy duty chemo drug KADCYLA. The doctor was thrilled to tell her the KADCYLA is beating back the cancer! So, we may have our beloved Anne with us for a while longer. Her oncologist, who has been on leave due to illness, wrote in a report last summer that Anne was too weak for strong chemo. My brother and I threw her into a very demanding rehabilitation hospital program. She called every night crying and wanted to come home. She finished the program with flying colors. We had closed our ears to her tears. She had told us she wanted to live and that meant she had to gain enough strength and functionality for the hard core chemo. Last week, the home health physical therapy group supervisor discharged Anne saying she is so strong that they cannot justify PT to Medicare.
I ran into a problem with a low level doctor at the comprehensive cancer care center and teaching hospital where I am being treated. She did some things that made it difficult for me to get a grip on my treatment plan. I contacted a foremost breast surgeon that referred me to a spectacular surgeon at this major hospital and asked if I could tell what happened. She said yes, I could. I covered a huge amount of ground in an email. I heard from this prominent surgeon about a week later. She said radiation treatment after surgery would be very risky for me given my fibromyalgia. She knows that Tamoxifen nearly killed me and AI drugs are off the table.
This surgeon, who knows my surgeon very well, wanted to know how I felt about breast reduction surgery. I figured out that if the surgeons can remove a large quantity of tissue from my breast after the lumpectomy that they will have a very good shot at taking out the errant cells that are usually destroyed with radiation. There is, I read tonight, very early data showing that breast reduction surgery can reduce a woman's risk for breast cancer. She wanted to know if I would be willing to have breast reduction surgery along with the lumpectomy.
I was out dancing in the street, at least in my mind. I am a 40DD, and my breasts are responsible for terrible neck and back pain that make it hard to clean house, to exercise or to be functional to any significant degree. The surgeon I had contacted for help wanted to call my surgeon and discuss the idea. I said I was 100 percent on board. I got a call from the oncology nurse last night telling me these two surgeons had talked and wanting to know how I felt about the idea. I said I was totally on board.
I am waiting for my surgeon to call me. I will probably have to travel to the teaching hospital before surgery to sit down and talk with the doctor about what I want my new breasts to look like.
This is the best option I have heard. I may still have a recurrence or invasive cancer, but if I need radiation to survive, it will be an option that I can exercise at that time. In the meantime, I can have a decent quality of life while taking the steps available to me to treat the breast cancer with surgery rather than radiation or chemo preventive drugs, both of which could do more harm than good in my case right now.
So, that is my great news. And, I seemed to have definitely lost four or five pounds since November 12. I have about 39 pounds left to lose, having now lost about 38 pounds over the last two and a half years. If all goes well, I will wake up on January 27 with new much smaller breasts and the ability to recover a more active and vigorous lifestyle than I have had in about 12 years!
-
Ruth-I like the convertible! The patio picture makes me cold just looking at it.You really got a lot of snow! Yes, your walking group seems to really have a good time together.
I went to the movies to see Peanuts and then walked the mall. The movie was cute! I ended up w/ 4.5 miles today after shopping, so I am calling it a day
-
DF, that sounds very promising! Such a win-win. You will also be losing more weight.
Counting down to January 27 with you...
Claire, great beaver in action pic!
I have a family wedding in mid-August somewhere in the 'burbs of NYC. Don't know how this would fit in to any plans (may be too late for most), but just in case it does, throwing it out there.

I'm jumping back in after a hiatus. I was good about keeping up with my swimming since I want to do a long distance open water swim this June. I even completed a 5K swim back in October. Then I started a new full time job and my exercise went to hell. I also gained some weight back, which I can't afford to do being ER+.
Well no more! My DH and I share one car, so I've been testing the water with bike commuting to work. The first time I did 12 miles in one day. I hadn't been on a bike in years. OUCH.
This week I am off work, so my days have been packed with exercise. Yesterday I had a five mile bike ride, followed by 20 minutes of hand weights and 25 laps pulling/25 laps kicking in the pool.
Also been biking to the store, etc instead of driving.
Ruth, that picture is beautiful! I'm a native Midwesterner and sometimes I miss the snow and scenes like that.
DF, I was in an adjuvant Kadcyla clinical trial so I'm always thrilled to hear about people having good results from it. I hope Anne continues to do well
-
((DF)) good luck, you have a lot on your plate right now!
Welcome back, BAU, congrats on new job and 5K swim. I'm with you on needing to shed some recently-acquired weight. I blame the holidays rather than my utter lack of self-control LOL.
Shovel & Sculpt has been the exercise de jour last few days. Ice storm missed us TG but we got freezing rain, sleet, snow & wind. Had to shovel at both places, too much fun after the snowplow came through and pushed all the street snow onto our sidewalk. Thanks guys!
Door County WI is beautiful but impractical although I know Cheryl's always wanted to see it. There are Wyndhams at Wisconsin Dells, we could base there and take a side trip to Door Co. And anywhere with mountains is good with me. But yeah, NYC is the better option for ease of travel and places to eat drink & be merry.
HeidiHill, would love to meet up with you in Aug! Looks like mid-June is best for most, (edited) but I just checked and there's no rooms at the inn for the NYC TS at that time. There are still 2BR suites for an Aug 12, 16, 23 or 26 check-in with a 3-night stay. (Edit again - 2BR suite avail for 4-night stay with check-in Aug 15 or 22.)
Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year! ♥ to all

Reading all the updates. Beaver is my neighbor as lives less than a mile from here. I will say that for anyone moving to a new place, having hiking trails available is a major bonus. I can also walk safely here after dark and easily head out the door for a 5k run if home during the day. Last night, the stars were glorious. The ski trails are groomed at my favorite place, so will head there tomorrow for a day of the most glorious skiing ever. Good way to kick off 2016.
I survived my end of year projects and all is well with my old client and her new team. Did myself proud yesterday.
Looking forward to the New Year. The second half of 2015 was really good to me and hope to keep up the momentum.
Running around today with YE work and then a party. Expect to be home early to ring in the New Year. Wishing everyone the most wonderful one ever!!! And if you "over celebrate", do it in a safe place! - Claire
-
mysunshine, great pic you and grandkids. I may have to revoke your residency here in The Villages - 17,000 steps!!! - I'm afraid of you!
DecisionFreak - that is absolutely great news. You are doing so well - I am thrilled. Continue to keep us updated.
NatsFan, happy belated birthday. Mine is tomorrow so everyone you have my permission to drink a toast (or 2) to me tonight.
NYC sounds like it's coming out on top. I'm a native NYorker but haven't lived there for 30+ years. Last time was there about 3 years ago. Still have a sister, brother and hodgepodge of relatives there. I'm not sure when but will be busy at times in June (family visiting here) and July (cousin possible wedding in Mexico) dates not yet decided. Don't let that hinder plans for dates since NYC is not new for me and I know you all would have tons of fun. It is extremely expensive so double your meal budget from what we had in CA last 2 trips! (but then the hotdog vendors are all over the place!)
3 mile Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone then washed the car. Heading out to see Star Wars then off to the square for some New Years entertainment.
Happy New Year to all.
-
Patoo, you make me laugh! I was dragging at the end of the 17,000 step day!!!
-
Love it Jazzy. I will be catching up on posts while tailgating (at home) tonight for the big games. Currently at the gym feeding the Fitbit so I can feed myself later.
Good news Decision. Ruth luv the pic but looks very cold. Sunshine adorable grands. Paton Happy Birthday. My brother is a New Year's Baby as well.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

Happy New Year's Eve everyone. And Happy birthday to Patoo tomorrow. I'll have a margarita to celebrate!
Like last year, I vowed to end the year exercising and start the new year exercising. We had a half day of work so I came home and bundled up for a snowy walk around the lake of 43 minutes. I saw a whole bunch of Canadian geese and some kind of black and white waterfowl I had not seen before.
Of course I'm starving now due to the exercise and cold and I just said the margarita word so I'm on the hunt for takeout Mexican food. Funny how the brain leads me back to food.
-
Great news DF. Heidi it would be wonderful if our times meshed. Mysunshine your grands are gorgeous.
Went to the mall yesterday so that is counting as my exercise, my friend who is visiting here had a wonderful time in Macy's buying lots of things on sale. This morning I went to a 90 minute Zumba class. I am still coughing ughhhhh I'm so sick of myself.
Happy New Year everyone, wishing you all health and happiness for 2016. -
Happy New Year to all!!!

Hi, ladies, you are keeping the importance of exercise top of mind for me though I have been very debilitated in the past few weeks. I felt slightly better today than before. I am so excited about losing these big breasts I could levitate. I KNOW that my back and neck pain will end with the surgery. Breast reduction surgery can in some cases affect the entire neuromuscular system. I am hopeful that it will improve my fibromyalgia.
I am certain that my ability to engage in vigorous exercise will increase after the breast surgery. In the meantime, I will do what I can do physically. I hope the Tamoxifen and the antidepressants are finally getting out of my system. I feel a bit better today and not as weak as I have felt for the last two weeks.
When you exercise, take me along in your pocket. Reading about what you are doing is very inspiring.
-
Cardio Sculpt this morning.....so fun, all the teachers who come all summer (and who will be back in school next week) were there, plus some brought their visiting company (one lady brought her 4 nieces).
Here's to an active, happy, healthy 2016 for us all!
-
And Happy Birthday to Patoo!
-
Walked for an hour at the Y this afternoon. One of the advantages of getting to go during the day is that I get to see one of my favorite members. She's this tiny lady who I'm told is in her seventies, and she could kick my behind from here to the county line, I kid you not. She's even shorter than I am, but she has guns! I'd be lucky to do one pushup myself.
-
Happy Birthday Patoo!
Sunshine drew me out for walk to new house 2 mi RT, cold but bundled up, felt great to move.
Wishing all my Sculpted Sisters a healthy and Happy New Year! ♥
-
Thanks all.
-
Thank you, Cheryl!! We are headed there Sunday, to help with the unpacking!! MySunshine, your grandchildren are adorable!! Wow, Hawaii!! Great place to visit!!
Happy New Year to all you wonderful ladies here!!
-
Happy Birthday from me, too!
-
Patoo, Happy, Happy Birthday!! Wishing you a day filled with Many Blessings, Joy, Love and Laughter!! 🎂🎂🎂🎈🎈
-
patoo, happy birthday to you! Eat an extra piece of cake for me, plz.
May you walk in beauty in 2016.
-
Today's exercise was a half mile open water swim and a 2.5 mile walk with DH after watching the fireworks. Also, ran around the kitchen for a few hour helping with dinner...does that count?
I have three fitness resolutions this year. 1) Complete a marathon open water swim. 2) Build up my endurance to the point where I can cycle the whole way to and from work (currently have to split between the bike and bus). 3) Get and maintain a BMI solidly in the healthy range instead of teetering on the brink of 25
Happy New Years to all!
-
Hit 10,000 steps today after discovering if I add one lap to my regular walk it's easier to do!
Happy birthday to you, Patoo!
Happy new year everyone. To a better one for us all!
