Mary....its not so much that the kids need a deadline, its just we've not tackled the crawl space in years!!! I'm sure much of what is in there in the way of toys is not to be kept, but I just don't want to give away something DD's want to keep....and part of it is me being sentimental...Oldest DD lives in Toronto so its by phone, text or email with pictures. Younger DD is in NY/NJ till the 4th. So at first its a matter of me organizing and getting rid of what I know they don't want....Some is my stuff light from grad school which I finished classes 30 years ago and my degree 25 years ago...so do I need anything anymore!!! and others is taxes past 7 years which we can toss. Its just a slow process as I don't like being in the crawl space for extended periods of time...too dreary and no sunlight. I'm headed there in a few minutes till it warms up for a walk...at almost 9, its still only 10 degrees!!! And thanks for the info on the video....might just give it a try.
Peggy...I am a terrible sleeper so as Ruth said, if I didn't walk after a horrible night sleep, I'd never walk!!!
-
hi all, glad I heeded The Voices yesterday and got out for a walk. Did my 2.5 mile route but drove to library as needed a few other items like eggs and sidewalk salt before battening down the hatches. Winter is here with a vengeance. We got a thin coat of freezing rain early this morning, then sleet and snow with more to come plus now the wind is howling. Was a good decision to take a snow day off work. Happy Monday! :-)
-
Mary, Boston would be great, so would the Smoky Mountains (NC / TN).
Ruth, where was it you wanted to go with your DH first - was it Boston or Nashville?
Here's the URL for resort search page:

Except for a family wedding in Sept, I'm flexible when it comes to vacation time.
-
We have a sleet blizzard going on here. Pelting sleet all day long. My NewYears goal is to de clutter and organize so today I worked on organizing my makeup drawers and vacuumed a little. I was feeling cooped up so I decided to go out anyway. I put on my snow gear from head to toe and ventured out. It's like walking in soft sand. My 20 minute route took 26 minutes and my heart was pounding. I feel good though. I was so sluggish and now I feel more awake.
-
I went to Boston with DH this fall....fabulous! Yea, I better go to Nashville with him too as he is more country music than I.
Besides Boston, Montreal, and the Smokey Mountains, some other East Coast places that come into my mind off the top of my head are Charleston, SC, Key West, Florida, and New York City. I will try to look at the link tonight. One thing we need to consider is the ease of getting from an airport to the resort & the availablity of public transportation.
-
Once again you all amaze me at the exercise you get. It needs to stop raining here so I can get back to hiking. Lovely winter wonderland Claire. Karen. . .I can really only hike and do treadmill with light arm weights so I asked PT what I could do for stomach core without twisting lower back. Lots of mini sits ups, i.e., raise up enough to tighten abs, rinse and repeat as often as possible. I have a wedge pillow for my legs to keep pressure off lower back. I dream of 13K on a daily basis. Usually only when I hike.
At the gym feeding my fitbit.

I finally caught up on reading missed posts!
I heard the "voices" and got back into the gym today. It felt great! We are getting that ice and snow stormtonight so I will have to do something at home tomorrow.
-
This isn't the East Coast, but San Antonio sounds very interesting as well.
-
Good walking day in spite of the cold...cuz the roads are still snow covered, my DH is walking with me 2 and 3 times/day as he doesn't want to run....for me, 3 is my goal, but he generally doesn't go more than twice so he was amazed today to get 3 walks in.
I have an 8:00 am dentist appt tomorrow morning, its about 40 minute walk...thought about walking, but I think it will be to cold that early in the morning as its going down to single digits tonight....at midnight its already only 12 degrees F. Will see what the mood strikes in the morning. Best hit the sack soon if I'm going to be up at 6:00 or 6:30 at the very latest!!!
-
I was in San Antonio just before Thanksgiving, and agree that it is fun. I will warn you that it is really HOT in June. Another one for the list would be Charleston SC. I think though that Boston gives you more to do in a week, and then it's worth a side trip to Provincetown.
I am still feeling the burn from Saturday's ski. Did a run yesterday in the chilly fog. However, I was warm. Dentist today to get my new crown.
Sharing this picture from last week. Couldn't believe that the beaver was tackling this tree! - Claire

Charleston is a great destination but it's not easy to get to, for mid west and me it would be 3 planes or 2 and a car ride, also not east but what about Galveston or New Orleans, and I love New York or Boston both have everything, in Nashville even if you're not CW fan the music in the bars is fantastic, once when I was there in this tiny bar the band for Brooks & Dunn were playing, just warming up for their tour playing for tips, haha this is hard too many places.
Happy Birthday to your DD Heidi. Beavers are tenacious creatures Claire they don't give up. Karen streets would also probably be icy so be careful. Stay safe Badger.
Last night went to Zumba, was supposed to go to another class but instructed sent message she was sick and didn't think she could make it through class.
Oh and probably one of the funniest places - Pigeon Forge Tennessee, gateway to the Smoky mountains, its a total tourist town, cheesy but fun. -
I would agree that Texas is extremely hot and humid in the summer months. The fall and spring are ideal months to visit the Lone Star State. I live near the southern coast, 10 minutes from South Padre Island. San Antonio is a fun place and so many great things to see on the outskirts too. I do love the east coast too! There is so much history to see there.
Those beavers were hard at work! Great picture Claire!
This morning I met some childhood friends for coffee. It was fun to catch up!I am heading out to the shooting range with my brother and son. It should be interesting, as I am not a sharp shooter!
-
Quite a bite! Had a win today in teaching body balance 71 from beginning to end. Felt great.
-
Shovel and sculpt this morning and then I drove to the lake for a walk. No paths clear but the snow was hard and packed this morning so I just walked mostly on top of the snow. I tried tracking a coyote or fox tracks to see if I could figure where their den was but couldn't find the end before I needed to leave. Very quiet and peaceful except for the honking geese!
-
I've been busy with Christmas events the last few weeks and haven't been able to make it to the gym, although I have walked quite a few miles at the mall. Today it was back to shovel and sculpt, thanks to the weather. I'm going to try to hit the gym tonight, although I think I will be pretty slow.
-
Thank you workout pals....I had a goal to go into the gym today and did! I walked for 25 minutes. My goal is eventually to be back to spinning class and begin weights ( after a lymphedema assessment in January).
Thank you for all your stories of workout valor, particularly as the weather has been changing and making these efforts more difficult!
-
Great jobs, everyone!
I went to Cardio Sculpt this morning & Barre tonight.....so definitly worked off a few of the those Christmas Calories!
-
I did not get a workout in but did manage to stay in my jammies and read until 1pm thanks to a snowy start. It was a much needed break!
I hope the trip is to somewhere near the northeast; I would love to finally meet some of you in person!
-
Over 17,000 steps today on my fitbit! More than I have ever done!
Tired feet though!
-
Okay, I have been doing a little research on the Wyndham resorts, and here are some things I've found:
* San Antonio & New Orleans are probably better spring or fall destinations due to the heat and humidity
* there are tons of resorts all over Florida, too hot??
* The Smokey Mountains are going to be hard to get to
* Nashville: the resort is 10 miles from town and "a vehicle is suggested for this destination"
* No Wyndham in Montreal....or anyplace in Canada that I could find
* Boston just has an associate hotel (you can get rooms but no suites)
* the New York City resort looks great, new, in the heart of the city....bringing a car is NOT recommended
* or we could go wild and go to Puerto Rico or St. Thomas......both places have several resorts that look fabulous & the weather seems to be even all year long....or Mexico.....

In the midst of helping me son and his family move to Idaho!! A little sad, have been so close to my grand babies! Hubby and I know this is for the the best for them!! We are making the drive there this weekend! Moving and packing is a lot of work and exercise!!
-
Oh dear, that will be hard!!
-
Kathy....that is hard to have them move away. I moved to Colorado from Ohio when I was pregnant with my first 30 years ago. Somehow we managed to forge close bonds with the grandparents. Now my oldest daughter is married and lives in Toronto and think how far away any future grandbabies will be (but the other grandparents live a mile away from the kids).
I'd love to meet up if it worked with my schedule. As I work in the schools, summer vacation is my only time, June is best. To decide on a destination, people need to decide what they want to do...resort, sight see whatever. A thought is the mountains in Colorado. The weather is gorgeous in the summer..sunny. Vail is beautiful. There are shuttles from the airport or can rent a car. Also depending how many people would determine type of place. I'll let others do the planning and if it works date wise, I'll get on the bandwagon. I'm hoping to travel to Israel again next summer for July and early August.
Hoping to get to 15K today but might not quite make it. Marysunshine, way to go on the 17K!!
The best time to walk with the cold spell we are having is between 10 and 2 once the sun is fully in the sky and before it starts to set...Not doing as much walking as I thought I would over break, but I'm getting stuff done in the house...cleaning out the storage closet and the crawl space. Thrown out lots of boxes and junk!! The hard part now is going through the momentos and see what to keep and what to get rid of...and the toys. My goal is by the end of the school year!!! There is a LOT to go through as we are packrats...also have lots of storage space so just put things in there and forget about ti!!! I have my wedding dresses "preserved" when I got married 38 years ago....I haven't opened the lid on the box in many, many years. At one point, I thought if I have daughters maybe they could wear my dress. But now that I have daughters, I know that is not going to happen as we are built differently. DD#1 rented her dress for a nominal fee... she could not have worn my dress as she is 5 inches shorter than me. DD#2 is 2 inches shorter than me. both of my girls are much more buxomy that I ever was!! so I'm thinking of finding a place to donate my dress.
Have a great Wednesday!!
-
karen, how early in June could you go?
-
I love outdoorsy nature hiking stuff, but I also love history and sightseeing. So Smoky Mountains would work for me, but I could drive so that makes it easier. But agree that it's not easy to get to - major airports are a long drive away, so that probably wouldn't work. I'd love Denver or other Colorado spots. New Orleans and Florida are tons of fun, but as Ruth says, way too hot and sticky to go in summer - we'd have to do spring or fall. I've heard great things about San Antonio, but again probably too hot for summer. New York is probably a good destination, especially if some people haven't been there - we certainly wouldn't run out of things to do!!
30 minute run in the fog this morning.
-
Kathy I know how much you are going to miss those kiddos but I'm sure there are now going to be lots of trips to Idaho in your future
Wow Mysunshine that is fantastic. Ginger I love when you have those days, we need to take time for ourselves without feeling guilty. TH Cubbie & Reader I am in awe of you girls who live back east and keep going when your weather changes, it's been hard for me lately being so cold.here, I'd rather stay in and eat cake
.
Last night went to Body Jam, our instructor is on vacation so we had a wonderful young man come up from San Diego and lead us, had a fantastic class fabulous energy, we even turned off the lights and turned on the disco loghts.
Edited to add: LB I hope you are safe out of the way of the flooding, I know most of it is up north but I hope you're not getting it as well, and congratulations on your launch, I know how hard it is teaching and learning a new routine at the same time.
-
I hear you, Kathy! My son and family, who I am visiting now, are moving to Hawaii in June!
I want to join you all on the yearly trip this year! I would love New York or the mountains!
New Orleans is hot and muggy in the summer. So is Florida. Anyone ever heard of Door County, Wisconsin? It would be best to go there in July or August as it is in northern Wisconsin, but supposed to be a really neat place. A lot of wealthy people from south Florida go there in the summer. Would be near Green Bay. Nantucket? Just mentioning places I would like to go sometime.
Am moving to The Villages, where Patoo (Phyllis) lives, at the end of January.
-
The place we walked this morning was having a new car show. We are pretending that we are in Florida with patoo!
-
l wanted to also share this pretty winter scene. One of our ladies invited us over brunch after the walk. This is the view from her kitchen patio door.
-
I am MIA, but I will return. I have great news that may change my life!
