Patoo, wonderful news!! LilacBlue, praying for you, you will shift this, one day at a time!!
Took a nice walk today with some hills!!
All your voices keep me going!!
-
Ran 2.7 this morning. Run walk.
Trying to go for speed in between but just didn't have it. I haven't even had radiation yet and I'm tired. I'm going to assume that it is just stress wearing on me.
-
Lilac - you're such an inspiration to all of us. Hold on to that thought - we all care and we're all here for you. It sounds like you may be a bit tired, and maybe when things slow down a bit you can get some rest and will feel more like your old self. Ginger - glad the elephant moved off your chest. Outrunning - it sounds like it just wasn't a speed day for you. Sometimes just getting out there is victory enough.
Work is much better - my boss really followed through after our meeting, and has made sure that my co-worker is assuming responsibility for her fair share of the work. And for the first time yesterday, I actually said no to another project. I had already been given responsibility for several high-priority tasks this week, and was asked to take on yet another one. I calmly told my boss that I'd be glad to do it, but she was going to have to guide me as to which of the other tasks should fall by the wayside as I could not do them all this week. She actually thanked me for reminding her of how much else I was doing, and we re-arranged my tasks accordingly. I'm not the type to stand up for myself that way, so I'm rather proud of myself!
Five miles of track interval work last night. This running clinic is tough, but really effective. We're skipping the scheduled workout Saturday to run a charity 5K for a local draft horse rescue. It's a hilly trail run so it should be a good challenge. This rescue uses the funds to buy draft horses at the livestock auctions to save them from the slaughterhouse buyers, then they rehab the horses and find them homes. I think it should be fun as we run next to the horse fields and the horses enjoy hanging out along the fence to watch the runners go by. I've always thought draft horses were so neat - I love how big and powerful they are - and this rescue seems to be well-respected. And let's just say that as a runner, I identify much more with draft horses than with thoroughbreds.

Stomach issues so staying close to home (read bathroom) today. May hop on treadmill in a bit. Going to have company for a few days starting tomorrow so not sure how much 'real' exercise will get in. We've only "met" on BCo threads and she may be interested in relocating in this area so will be fun taking her around.
-
suersis, the spiders have gotten a lot smaller since you saw them 10 years ago. Actually I think they morphed into butterflies. Oh wait, wrong insect!
My 'sky' was all types of oriental symbols. Probably was a good thing I only read English.
-
Suersis- I wouldn't have been happy about spiders but it would have taken snakes to make me run. Either way I'm glad my ceiling has lovely panels that look like looking up threw trees at the sky. They are early autumn trees, some free some color. Yesterday I asked if they change with the season. No. And please stop talking because you are moving.
I guess not a good place for my chattiness.

LB it never rains but it pours but glad your pup is feeling better, like kids if there's a rug next to a tile floor they seem to make the rug and not the floor, I have to say that's the only thing I like about wood floors, I hate how now matter how many times I sweep I look back and find dust balls but ahhhh when there is a doggie "accident" it's an eazy peazy clean up. Will be thinking of you this weekend, it is going to be so exciting, wish I was going with you except I'd be Jamming and Sh'bamming
and be sure to go see "The One" it should be fun to see other instructors from all over the world participating, I loved the girl who won in Chicago and I'd be voting for her if I was there, not that I'm biased or anything cause she is a Jammer
. Outrunning you're almost to the finish line, I know you're tired but take comfort in knowing you're almost there - like you're at mile 23 of a marathon, you think, what the heck but you push on and that finish line appears. Patoo I hope the bug passes quickly, I spent Monday night after class in the ER with a friend, turns out it was a gastrointestinal bug - and that ER was full, you should have heard the girl in the bed next to him, with all the screaming that was going on you would have thought they were cutting off her head - they were just giving her an injection. Nats good for you for sticking to your guns, you can only do so much in the hours allotted and something "more important" always seems to come along. Ruth I'd skip the gym for your book club too cause I know there will be cake
Monday night went to Cardio Dance Party and last night Body Jam, I'm just a dancing fool.......
-
Mary, good for you!
Hang in there, Lilac. You have been on the run lately & probably need a little down time (or cake.....cake is good too!)
When I was doing rads, I kept my eyes closed and visualized that I was lying out on a deck at a lake, the machine going overhead was just a cloud temporarily blocking out the sun.
Patoo, hope you feel better. Blah!
I skipped walking this morning to sub for a good friend who is taking her 96 year old mother on a Road Trip (there is a school break Thursday & Friday and she wanted to get a head start). I will go to Zumba & yoga tonight.
Cheryl, our dessert last night was an apple crisp cake with a crumble topping, ice cream on top that & warm caramel drizzled over the whole concoction. Is there any doubt as to why I have to exercise a lot?(the emotocon means "I love food")
-
Ruth, Are you not afraid of eating sugar?
-
Ha, ruthbru not eat sugar!!!! The cake-eating queen! She washes it out with tons of water and sweats it out with exercise. You're gonna have to come along on one of our 'adventures' to see for yourself.
-
-
I am not afraid of eating sugar because I exercise all the time and keep my BMI in the normal range. (Although, really, I am not as bad as I sound......my diet is generally pretty good, but I definitely enjoy yummy food when the opportunity presents itself.)
-
Ruth: I want to eat that cake!!!
LB: Thinking of you. In Girl Scouts we teach girls the 3 Cs: Courage Confidence and Character. I know you have Courage and Character. Looks like your Confidence in yourself is waning. Take time for yourself, relax, and think about all the good you are doing for others. They need you. We need you.
Outrunning: Glad the treatments have started! I had pretty cloud pictures on the ceiling to look at plus music to listen to.
Nats: You have a good boss who actually listens to you. Plus, she knows the value of a good employee and doesn't want to lose you. Love the 5K you are doing this weekend! Cool cause - very different.
Patoo: Here's hoping your stomach problem has resolved.
Cheryl: The ER trip sounded awful with noise. Hope your friend feels better.
Hi Everyone. I walked/ran early this evening. This has been a gorgeous week!
-
Ok I am jumping on this thread as I need to GET GOING! Had a pretty bad today as I was feeling some rib pain that is new. I freaked out a little and felt the blacks clouds moving in quick. I was at work but luckily was able to skirt out an hour early, came straight home, jumped on my bike and did ten miles on our local trail including the steep incline out at the end. Not only was i proud of myself but felt SOOOO much better! Chased those blues right away. Have to keep up some sort of routine for my sanity. Unfortunately biking is my favorite but we might have snow soon. have to find a replacement like the gym or something. Not a Yoga gal, I have terrible balance...
-
Hi artist! Glad you are here. Sorry about the rib pain. It's great that you were able to leave work early and get on your bike to move the black clouds away. Endorphins are wonderful!
-
I visualized the calm after the most amazing sex of my entire life to get me through rads. Worked like a charm.
Had some lovely biscotti today with my tea and the project I am working on. YES!!!!! I do sugar, but only high quality sweets. That is, unless I am doing a long cycling event, and then it's whatever I can get my hands on.
Glorious rainbow for tonight's walk. Still not up to running, but brain is working again. Thank goodness. (We were all sad campers a week ago at the nonprofit. This one is nasty.)
Still need to do weights, but hanging up the work while I broil my trout. - Claire
-
Wonderland-I remember the 3 Cs from Girl Scouts! My courage has definitely been tested on this ride.
Mysunshine-It has been a challenge to cut sugar out entirely, so I have it in moderation. Never has it become more obvious to me, that sugar is everywhere. My co-workers always have something w/ sugar. It is a constant uphill battle for me. Did you give up sugar and how?
Artist - Welcome!
Today I did the elliptical and lower body weights. My legs will be sore tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a fun week
-
Welcome, Artist!

First day in a long time that I haven't gotten in all my steps....it was raining this morning so had to walk in the mall in the morning before work. Since it took time to drive there only got a 20 minute walk. Raining at lunch and then things got crazy at work so no mid day walk. Short walk tonight....thinking of walking around the house for bed so I can get 12K steps....I have just over 11K.......Hope tomorrow is a little drier...also hope I get up on time, read 5:15 or 5:30 at the latest instead of 6....I have to leave a little after 7 to get to work by 7:30. I love my walks....so therapeutic
-
Mary, what a terrific charity and a hill run sounds fun. Welcome to all the new women Cheryl, getting ready and trying not to over pack for two days of mainly workout wear. I have a online friend who lives outside of Stockholm and we will meet up for the first time tomorrow night. Thank you one and (((All))) for your understanding support and yes, I am tired and I do worry. Wonderland, thank you for the 3C's and Kindergarten, good to read you.
I'm teaching Pink Pilates this morning and off to change and scoot out of here. Thank you for your kindness and support, it does mean so much to me.
-
I go in tomorrow forcancer rehab assessment and start next week. Anyone else done this?
Karen
-
Hello Artist. . .I second Wonderland. Exercise has become an absolute necessity for me. My dh has been telling me for years that endorphins are great, but I haven't listened to him until now. Hugs
As for sugar, I have to watch it especially during holidays when everyone at work brings stuff in. My blood sugar will go crazy if I eat sugar, while also skipping lunch because I'm so busy at work.
You know your Fitbit owns you when you get up to walk around right after going to bed because you just noticed that you missed your daily steps by 2.

Had to have some cookies with all the talk of sugar. KarenAus, they don't really have cancer rehab where I am that I know of, except if you complain about something enough or have supplemental insurance. In Germany it seems they do have it as a matter of course.
LB, you will have fun in Stockholm and with another sister from Europe, to boot. I am trying to pack for my trip but haven't got it together yet except for the workout clothes. I don't even know what to give my dad for his 95th. Maybe I will buy it there and save the kilos.
3 hours of Tango Wednesday. I wonder how many steps that was? Body Jam last night.
-
Artist - welcome!! Hahaha on the sugar - we have a wellness program here at work, and people set up various health challenges. One recent challenge was not to eat sweets for 5 days straight. I didn't even make it one day! I have adopted Claire's idea though - if I'm going to eat sugar calories, I make sure they're really good ones. Since I've adopted that philosophy, I've found it a lot easier to pass up junk sweets that seem to be everywhere at work, so it's all good I guess. Scottie - LOL on marching around to get those last few steps - I've done that more times than I care to count. Heidi - I bet tango is a lot of steps!
Three mile pre-dawn run this morning - the skies were crystal clear and the stars were spectacular!
-
I am off to Cardio Sculpt. When I get home I plan to power wash the deck, wash windows, and put away hoses......we are quickly running out of time for outdoor projects.
-
Oooooh Ruth, when you're done can you come do our windows too??????
-
Lilacblue, have a wonderful time!!
Ruth, you are definitely cleaning and sculpting!! You have more energy than the energizer bunny😀😀
Worked out at the gym this morning!!!
-
Welcome Artist this thread is great for keeping you motivated. Ruth that cake sounds wonderful serve me up a sliceI really need to wash windows but I keep praying for rain so I don't have to do it but its not working out for me. Heidi if you ask your Dad I'll bet he says that having you with him is the best present, have fun on your vacation. Glad you are enjoying your runs again Mary. LB I am telling you this weekend will totally revive you, it is an amazing experience to be in a room with so many "like minded" people, the place will be electric.
Last night did Grit Strength it's only a half hour class but it kicks your butt and it was early as I thought I had better spend an evening with my houseguest, got home from the gym and we went shopping and out to eat, ah well - calories used, calories gained right back
-
God, I hope so Cheryl and running on half steam - I'll be thinking of you and thank you so much. Ms. HeidiHill, enjoy your dad's b'day and I'm clueless as to what any dad would want at 95 - well done your dad! Karen, welcome and go for it..is this a LiveStrong program? Kindergarten, thank you and good going on the gym and Mary, forget the sugar, I want to adopt Claire's idea of good sex..whatever that is...HA! I'm up at 4am to catch a 5:30 train to Gatwick. See you all soon, x
-
LilacBlue sounds like a fun trip. If dd didn't have college tuition due again in mid-Dec I could have an awesome vacation. Was going to be lazy and just do 30 minutes on the treadmill but then dd and insurance ticked me off some I'm hear for the full shebang as dh calls it. Weights and all. I can work off my frustration so I can call insurer again tomorrow and remind them that they have to pay for preauthorized treatments. They bill me every month when they know they have to pay.
