Scottiemom- You got some great pics of your daughter. I am hoping mine will play team sports in the coming years
Went for a walk w/ my DH and dogs on the walking trail. Relaxing the rest of the day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
-
Jazzy, I am achy from yoga too, but mine is always the entire torso/ribcage. I have been just miserable the last two days and the heating pad is my best friend.
Yesterday I did a 42 minute walk in the woods. I was hoping to catch the fall color, but we are behind schedule this year. Some yellows but the reds and oranges are still to come. I guess I am a prairie and water girl, because I really didn't enjoy the walk as much as I do when I walk around the lake...
So today I went to the lake for a walk, and darn, they had a Breast Cancer walk going on. Perhaps if I'd been there with friends or family it would have been uplifting/fun, but I was alone and I felt alone. Ginger, my mind wandered to the toll BC takes on us. One of the ladies I did chemo with is struggling right now and I shed a few tears along the way. I walked an hour and 15 minutes, but I strolled more than exer-walked. It was really a beautiful day and the geese are starting to do their fall gathering on the lake, but it was hard to enjoy. My son and I went out for Italian late this afternoon so I feel better now.
-
Ah TwoHobbies, too bad we don't live in the same town because then we could have gone on a walk together. Some days are just tough ones.
I walked by myself too on a nice fall day and did some DVD toning with the FIRM girls.
-
Took today off! (imagine that)
Night sculpted friends.
-
Two Hobbies: Glad the Italian meal made you feel better.
Beautiful day here. Walked/ran late this afternoon. Nice and cool!
-
Hi everyone! I've been traveling and haven't posted in awhile. Looks like there are many good posts to catch up on.
Today I walked a 5K - first race event since dx. Had so much fun, and now really inspired to do more! It was the slowest 5K time of my life, but it's the one I'm most proud of.
I just passed the one year anniversary of my BC diagnosis, and when I think about everything that was going on this time last year, I am celebrating that I am feeling great and loving life!
-
10/18- solid hour at the gym of resistance training including abs, upper body, lower body and playing with the kettle bell!
Kiki- it is amazing to look back at where we were after everything. Congrats on coming through a year. I was in the thick of it this time three years ago with two surgeries six weeks apart that left me thinking I might not make it. But here I am!
Twohobbies- it was a bit better today with the hips and gluts after the hot tub. I have had soreness in other places sometimes (shoulders, abs, etc.) When a yoga teacher focuses on one area, I am going feel it. I hope you are doing better too.
-
Have been keeping up with exercise but really full days/evenings. Last Tuesday Body Pump and Zumba, Wednesday – Spin, Thursday – Body Jam, Friday – rest, Saturday – Body Combat and today Body Step. I have a houseguest from Australia this week but everyone who comes to stay with me knows my crazy evening routine so I hope to keep it up.
I just want to give everyone who is coughing a word of warning to be careful. For the past few weeks I have been hanging out at hospital with a friend who had a cough that turned to pneumonia then they discovered an abscess in her lung from the constant coughing/pneumonia I have never seen anyone in so much pain no drug eases the pain, they released her but readmitted her on Friday as the abscess has broken off and formed another one so finally tomorrow she is having surgery to remove them.
TH & Ginger, sending you both

Ginger, I'm sorry for your loss and you too Ruth. TwoHobbies, I've done that and ran alone reflecting on just as you had on a 5k Race For Life in Folkestone Kent. Glad you got out with your son. Wonderland, all those pumpkins are a go and well done on completing so many; I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Jazzy, you go for it and Scottiemom, you girl is a talented a athlete. HeidiHill, liked you tide photo in La Rochelle and I too have a cough and take heed Cheryl. Kiki, kudos on passing the one year and well done on the 5k.
Had the last two course (cancer rehab fitness instructor) days and have so much to do. Feeling overwhelmed and think if I get stuck in doing the 11 case studies for the practical, it will all come together in my head and on paper. Our son is on term break for two weeks and glued to his computer, the dog has diarrhea and husband up and out very early to fly to Zurich to work for the day - so not a restful night. Washing catch-up and putting my nose in course work. More cover is coming in due to the long term break and some last minute wanting cover. I'm off to Stockholm OneLive on Friday and looking forward to that. Have a terrific start to the week everyone!
-
I think 'we all' are pretty neat people to hang out with!!!
Off to yoga. From looking out the window, I foresee an afternoon of leaf raking in my near future.
-
Ginger, Ruth and all other sisters who have lost friends recently to bc or anything else, I am truly sorry for your losses. Send you hugs.
-
Sorry for all your friend is going through, Cheryl. Sounds very painful. Hope surgery goes well for her.
LB, in case you ever decide to come with your husband, PM me!
Patoo, I was with DH who has a captain's license and is pretty good at figuring out tides. I was confident of staying dry with him.
It was a rest day for me on Sunday and today will be BodyJam and maybe BodyCombat too if I hurry up with preparing dinner.
-
Blood work (results next week), mammo (NED), 6-1/2 mile bike ride.
-
You guys are awesome; thanks for the kind words and hugs!
Cheryl-thanks for the warning. I know lots of people with coughs that have been hanging on. Mine is just exhausting me so if it does not pass, I will get rechecked at the dr.
TwoHobbies- I feel your pain. October is just hitting me harder this year. Losing friends is hard enough. Seeing longtime cancer survivors get it back makes it even more tough. Add breast cancer awareness everywhere you turn and I am on overload.
Keep up the exercise everyone and I hope to be back at it again soon. I am supposed to run a 5k race in 3 weeks and for that I am going to need working lungs...
-
Yeah, working lungs would help - feel better!
-
Thanks, Ladies for the hugs. I always feel better when I come here! This was supposed to be my off day, so I didn't take my gym clothes to work. Then I ended up walking the dog and I'm getting ready to do some youtube something. I fell like I should do yoga, but I want to salsa dance.
-
LB: Hope your dog feels better.
Cheryl: Oh my, your friend is really going through a scary, rough time. Let us know how her surgery goes. Thinking of your friend.
Patoo: YEA on Ned!
Ginger: Hoping you can get your cough under control.
Two Hobbies: Dance, baby, dance!
Walked/ran early this evening in beautiful, cool air.
-
I managed only 2 miles today walking around at work. I did however get date night with DH at IHOP

life is over whelming right now.
Nothing Sunday or Monday. This morning only 20 minutes is strength training.
Rads start today. Oh boy.
-
Outrunning, make sure you bring whatever cream you are using with you & smear some on right when you are done with your zap, and also before you go to bed (but not in the morning before your treatment, because that can intensify the burn). I did fine with rads and you, hopefully, will too. The best part, of course, is getting it over with and being DONE!!!
I raked yesterday afternoon before Zumba. I am off to Cardio Sculpt this morning but will have to skip Barre tonight because my Book Club meets & I haven't figured out how to be two places at once!
-
Good luck Outrunning. I worked full time throughout rads. Granted I was in bed by 7pm every night but, hey, for 6-1/2 weeks I got the suggested 8 hours of sleep per night (actually was more like 10 hours!)
-
Many here have donated . Thank you !........Wandering around and cheerleading again

Ruth - you need a Time Turner like Hermione in Harry Potter so you can be in two places at once. Outrunning - good luck with the rads. As Ruth said, the best part will be getting it over with.Scottie - date night at IHOP sounds like fun! Lilac - with everything else going on for you, then the dog gets the runs! I so admire your dedication and perseverance with your course work. Cheryl - I'm so sorry about the tough time your friend is having. Two - hope you danced away!!! Patoo - woohoo! Ginger - hope the cough is easing.
Did the 8 mile run Saturday - that's the longest run of this running clinic. It was a cool beautiful day, and the last few miles were along the Potomac River with a view of the Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, and other DC icons in the distance. It was tiring, but gratifying that I was able to do it. I couldn't help but think back to the time when I was going through my last few chemo treatments and walking from the living room to the kitchen was a major effort.
Edited to add - And we weren't attacked by the aggressive owl, although we did see the warning signs on the trail. It's quite an owl - it even stole a runner's headlamp last week! The only wildlife danger I was in was when I almost tripped over a squirrel that darted out directly in front of me!
-
Thanks everyone. As it turned out not today, Tomorrow afternoon. Today was Xrays on the real machine instead of being on the set up machine. Thought since I had my tattoos I was good to go. sigh. Ready to get this over with.
Go Natz! Watch out for those squirrels.
Lilac. You're going to need to record a class for us to do at home when we can't get to our respective workout places. I'd pay to play!
-
Ruth - the Nats are interviewing Ron Gardenhire today for our vacant manager's position . . .
-
Again, let me say that all the ladies on this board are inspiring. Ruth, I'm sure you'll figure out the two place time jump soon. Had a former colleagues meet and greet after work which dh grudgingly attended with me. Neither of us can socialize alone as we seem to complete each others sentences. Now we're at the gym for a full workout. Guess I'll sleep well tonight.
Outrunning best wishes.

Twohobbies-October is a tough month! I was DX last October and was constantly reminded about my BC. It really was a difficult month. Hugs are being sent your way.
Cheryl- One of my mom's friends had the pneumonia vaccine and ended up very sick. Working lungs are important.
Patoo-Sending you hugs and good thoughts! I know that waiting for me was the hardest part.
Today I went to the gym. I did 6 miles between the elliptical and treadmill
-
Hi everyone, I seem to be on the every other day schedule-- lots of activities yesterday, not so much today and it's been like that for a few days. Maybe I'm overdoing it on the good days.
Outrunning, best wishes on rads. I had no real issues, just mild redness and itching, and hope the same for you. Keep the girl lubed up like Ruth said.
-
Good luck tomorrow Outrunning.
Mary-8 miles is impressive! I can't imagine running that far.
My breathing was so much better when I woke up. I no longer feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest. I actually went out for a slow 2 mile walk after school.
-
Outrunning, we have your back and do get your rest and don't know how Patoo worked full time with such fatigue. Mary, your running is progressing so well and Ginger, good to read you feel better. TwoHobbies, a warm hug for you and HeidiHill, waving across the channel -I'd love to visit and you are away seeing family, oui?
The dog is much better and thank you for the kind support. Chipping away at studying yet can't seem to shake this nervous, irascible, unsettledness and fear. Faith in self is flagging, worrying is tedious and useless, I really need to shift this. Off to Stockholm on Friday for LM OneLive and need to get packing for that. Life goes on and must dash to the gym as I'm covering BB class in a bit.
Edited to add: It's Back To The Future Day and thought this link about easier to lose weight in the 1980's (<--- click link) would fit in with today's theme.
