Badger, that was amazing! My younger DD watched it with me and asked, "Why don't people dance like that now?" Walked Murphy today at campground after driving for 8 hours. Will be home tomorrow and have to be out of house on Friday. Am taking lots of deep breaths.
Happy birthday, Heidihill!! Congrats on reaching the milestone of 60 and dancing the night away!

Badger, that dance compilation was so much fun I had to watch it twice. Of course it reminded me of my parents who both loved to dance. I can't believe how much my mom looked like Anne Miller. Maybe just an idealized memory. She had also learned to tap dance like Shirley Temple as a kid. This could be my next dance project at 60.

Congrats on the Nile River Badge, Ruth!! I couldn't let that achievement pass uncommented.

Someone must have fixed my keyboard as I now have exclamation marks again! Rest day yesterday, except for hauling the step trainer home. I have to pick up my bike today from the store as the step wouldn't fit in my basket. Loopy

Peregrinelady, your DD probably doesn't remember the time before MTV and YouTube, when people had to go to the movies or a nightclub to see song & dance like that.

I must have watched that video ten times now LOL. Enjoying the artistry and athleticism. Picking out scenes from favorite movies like Singin' in the Rain and On the Town, and flash appearances - Lucille Ball (at 2:50 with pink dress and whip!), Buddy Ebsen (at 3:47 with top hat), and is that Clark Gable jumping around at 1:55?

Chores are done so headed to the gym in a bit. Happy Sunday everyone!

I am staying "close to home" today, being laid low by a nasty flu shot reaction. I was manning a table at a conference in Seattle, and had to slink out, tail between my legs. Was lucky to make it home OK. So a warning NOT to schedule the flu shot the day before you have something major going on.

I did sneak in a bicycle ride on Friday prior to my wellness visit (I am just fine) and the flu shot that did me in. I am on the mend, fortunately.

Thursday evening, I went to see Burlesco Divino which was a hoot as usual. Just great fun. There was a gent who sat down beside me and left at the intermission. I am still wondering if he is a ballet aficionado who was put off by the burlesque aspect, or was disappointed because not enough stripping?? I would describe this as modern dance with a few burlesque elements. I met a lovely young woman there who was just captivated. She had done some dancing, and was thrilled to see the performance.

The big surprise that evening was the show at the Musicquarium (a lounge with a huge aquarium). They had a real swing band playing and even dancers. Swing dancing is the hot new activity here, and I am always up for good jazz.

Posting a pic below. - Claire

    Happy Belated Birthday Heidi.....

Claire that happened to me with a pneumonia shot once ugh I feel your pain. Wonderland you are so creative. Vargadoll as long as you are moving that is the most important thing and don't you know the tortoise always wins the race. Badger that was a great video, yesterday I went to a recital for a dance studio that a friend attends, every year they put on a show featuring all the people who take their classes, it was so entertaining, the variety was amazing, it's a dance studio that at 10pm turns into a nightclub just for people to dance, lots of young kids who love to swing dance and the show was very impressive I saw a few kids who really could be professional.

I have been keeping up with the exercise Body Combat today and yesterday, Grit and Body Flow on friday although I just could not do the sun salutation portion of Flow as by the time I got down they were back up to Warrior 1 so I just stayed up. Came to work this morning after the gym as I have a project that is not big but it's cumbersome so I've spent the day getting it ready and it's nice to have quiet time I figure in 4 hours I did a normal 8 hour day as I didn't have any interruptions. LB thanks for the PM sent you a reply.

It was cold and rainy here today (hoping to send it off to all who are too hot!). If I hadn't had so much on my 'to do' list, it would have been a perfect read a book/take a nap day. I wasn't in the mood but forced myself to do an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin. Now we are off to have pizza with DS and a girl who may be 'just a friend' or may be a 'girlfriend'......it is hard to tell now days & boys don't spill the beans!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday, Heidi. Ruth, good job making yourself do the Denise Austin. Claire, I hope you feel better soon.

3 mile walk done this evening. Schedule for this week: M, W, F: running; Tues will probably be a rest day because my "adult" (18 year old college freshman daughter) likes to watch The Voice with me and when your kid wants to spend time with you in the middle of their busy schedule, you do; Thurs and Sat will be elliptical and/or indoor cycling. Sunday has always been my long run day. Can't really do that the way I used to,but I can run and walk longer.

Wonderland. . .your flower exhibit is really cute. Way to go! I have entered photos in our State Fair in the past but haven't had time the last few years. Got my steps in yesterday walking to and from the #AtlantaUnited soccer stadium and hopping up and down during the game. Need to make it to the gym tomorrow.

Got my bone scan back results today. The lesion on thoracic spine is hemangioma. Whew.

My MO was running so late today; I waited 45 minutes and I could just feel my nerves climbing. By the time the nurse took my bp it was up to 170/90. I'm normally a 110/ whatever kind of calm. Does that count as exercise?

I'm definitely going to order the shoulder book you recommended, LilacBlue. I have quite a bit of arthritis going so I'm hoping movement will alleviate the pain.

Mommyof2- I'm glad to read about your clear lymph nodes but sorry to hear of the need for blood thinners.

Falconer, I had to google what a hemangioma is. For the other non-medical people, it happily is a common benign tumor that most often appears in adults between the ages of 30 and 50. Yea!

Annoying, I have a bunch of exercise DVDs because when I was working I didn't have time for classes. I especially like Denise Austin and also THE FIRM for DVDs. I go on Utube too sometimes, especially if I am looking to work a particular area (like abs or bat wing arms or whatever).

Heidi: Happy Belated Birthday! We're September babies.

Badger: Love the video! I helped dd's friend win the bear at the fair. She is giving it to her friend's daughter.

Claire: That's terrible that you had a reaction to the flu shot. Glad you are doing better.

Ruth: Please send some of your cool weather this way!

Cheryl: Thank you and Hugs back to you!

Falconer: Yay for benign tumors! Hope your blood pressure went down fast when you received the good news.

Hi Everybody. Thanks for the Birthday wishes. Last weekend my sister called and said we all need to get together for your birthday. I didn't want to meet and go to a restaurant so I invited everyone (13 were able to come) to our house for a cookout. We provided hamburgers, chicken, drinks, and the cake. Everyone else brought something to add so we had a feast! Potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, deviled eggs, fruit plate, pineapple, appetizers, plus more. I worked hard getting the house clean, setting up, etc. but it was well worth it!

The organization that I painted pumpkins for the last couple of years decided to do a different fundraiser so this weekend I bought 2 pumpkins and painted one of them today. Mandala dot painting on rocks has become very popular. Take a minute and look up images on the internet - they are gorgeous! I purchased the dotting tools and attempted to paint with them on the pumpkin. The area was big and I think it will be much easier on a smaller rock. Below is a picture of the pumpkin top. Later I walked in the house as it is still hot and humid out.

falconer - good news on your back

Happy birthday to the birthday girls

Heidi - hows your son doing at university

Got up and did classical stretch this morning - and hoping for a walk later today. It is like summer here, hot and humid, longing for fall. Most of my exercise has been getting ready for the estate yard sale we are doing Saturday for our late friend. No problem getting my steps in with all the lugging and moving stuff we have been doing. Saturday a group of friends came and helped me price about 3/4 of the house contents. Friday is our finish pricing and get organized day, Saturdays weather looks good so that is a plus. Glad to have these next few days to catch up on life around the house. This was/is a lot of work but I am happy to do this for his sister. She was a good girl and didn't text me for 4 days while on vacation, finally got a text from her yesterday, and I replied "We've got this!".

Falconer, oh yeah, do get, Healthy Shoulder Handbook: 100 Exercises for Treating and Preventing Frozen Shoulder, Rotator Cuff and other Common Injuries, found used on Amazon US for $7.14 (bought mine used for same price in £). Wonderland, Happy Birthday *&lt:-P partyand love how creative you are -awesome pumpkin. Cheryl, dog walks count as exercise. Pat, you are a good friend to have. I'm tired-out, taught a Pilates class earlier in the afternoon and drove to another gym and practiced the new release for a few hours. Dull autumn here and think I'll go make some dinner. Have a good rest of the day/night everyone!

My mood was so blah yesterday I didn't see that the page had turned and I didn't see your beautiful artwork Wonderland, you are so creative what a gift you have. Great news Falconer, waiting on those darned test results can really get you down, maybe that's why I was in a funk yesterday I had my annual mammogram and they told me my results will be sent to me within a week, usually they read them right on the spot but not this time and so I wait...... Pat you are a wonderful friend that is a lot of work and I'm sure it is much appreciated. LB I am looking forward to a little bit of fall weather, it's turned darned hot hot hot here again and there is a massive fire in Corona which is about 40 miles from me but this morning my car was covered in ash - for you old timers on this thread I did contact 2nd time around as she lives in Corona and she is okay, people were evacuated but so far one home damaged.

This morning I did the unthinkable I got up and went to an RPM class at 5.45AM, I told the instructor don't you dare post it on facebook as I am always being asked to go to morning classes but I decline as I'd rather lay in bed for an hour if I wake up early, I am a "night" girl and I don't want anyone to get the impression I go to a gym in the early AM but let me tell you the gym parking lot was packed at when I got there

Oh no, Cheryl, now they know you can get up early! Glad 2ndtime is okay. Very scary!

I did 45 minutes of toning again this morning, am going over to walk the dogs & will go to yoga tonight. The reason I am toning like crazy is to get it done with before DH and I leave on Thursday for a week's vacation. Some of you know that I am a total history nerd, so I am very excited because we are going to Washington, DC. We are going to do some hanging out with Natsfan and her DH, which will DOUBLE the fun!

Work is exhausting me right now and so is the heat and humidity. Wanted to go to the gym but forgot a change of cloths. Instead I went and got flooring samples for my vacant apartment unit. Walked into the unit and decided I needed a cleaning lady to get the worst of the mess under control. It is a small unit. She was to do the basic cleaning and I will do what needs the heavy duty stuff. Best $70's I spent. It's a good thing the tenant always paid on time. He stuck me for the last month rent so there is no security deposit to pay for it but it was worth the expense. My sale specialist that I have known for quite a while had a suggestion that was totally different from what I was thinking and the sample for what she suggested looks amazing against the plank flooring I have now and the wall color. It is a white vinyl plank flooring that looks like marble tile. I am putting it in the living room and bed room. The tenants can provide there own carpet to destroy going forward. It costs more up front but it will save a lot of money in the long run.

Now for exercise I did 30 minutes on my home tread mill, 2.8 miles an hour at a 4 degree incline.

sorry I am.too tired to comment on everyone's good news and exercise success. It's 92 degrees. 25 degrees greater than normal. Put in 9,00 steps at work. Came home and walked the lawnmower for an hour. I'm now up to 14,000 steps. I need a shower. But I'm too tire to get my sport bra off. I hope DH gets home soon to help me!

2FUN: Lol about your sports bra. I think we all can relate!

Brutersmom and Pat01: What is it with this heat and humidity? It's such an energy zapper.

    Cheryl: Congratulations on your mammo!!!

Ruth: Ya'll are going to have so much fun!

Lilac: I like your term "tired out." I will have to use it.

I decided to wait until early evening to walk/run. It was still 86 degrees at 6:30 but I was glad I did it. I even added an extra mile!
