I love your watermelon art, Wonderland!
BEAUTIFUL Costa Rico pictures, Octo!
And, of course, I love the baseball pictures! Go Nationals! Go Twins! Let's try to play each other in the World Series .
Good luck with your surgery, Mary. Very smart of you to be proactive with the LE issues.
I did another FIRM workout called Dangerous Curves Ahead. A combination of cardio, weights & a toning band.
I am now off to mail the finally completed taxes!
-
Lovely pixs of Costa Rica Octo. Wonderland, you're a great artist.
Nats. . .looks like a fun day at the opening game. Very sad that our new Braves stadium is built right off an already badly congested freeway interchange, which will be only worse during game traffic and maybe terrible for a few months while they repair our other collapsed interstate bridge. We used to love going to the games downtown on the spur of the moment.
Exercise today will be a couple of afternoon errands walking about. Uggh

Scottie, I was surprised when I heard about Atlanta's new ballpark. I went to a couple of games in your former ballpark right after it opened when the Olympics were done. I thought it was lovely and couldn't believe that it's already been deemed obsolete. And I heard about the burned bridge - it looks like it'll be a traffic nightmare for a long time. It sent our local roads crews scrambling to check local bridges to remove any accumulated storage or debris under the spans that could be flammable.
-
I say Go Giants!!! Started on the road, not the greatest opening to the season but lots of games ahead!
In addition to gorgeous beaches, Costa Rica has really nice rain forests and lots of interesting wildlife. Here is just one more pic of the animal none of us want to emulate: the sloth :-)
-
So glad that its Friday. Happy week-end.

Hi Ladies,
We went down to NYC last night and caught a favorite band who was doing a show to benefit the ACLU on a party boat! We sailed around the Statue of Liberty and it was lovely and fun. As it was NYC we did lots of walking (over 6 miles my DH recorded steps on his phone). Plus we danced too! A Much needed night out...
It's officially spring break here.
Have a great weekend everyone
-
5 day step total is 97,976. I am tired this week so the steps show it! I officially start radiation on Monday. I am curious how my physical activity will hold up over the next few weeks. I also have some cording and will start PT next week to....sigh.
-
Nice, Falconer!
Vargadoll, of course everyone has a different experience; but I did fine on radiation. Hopefully you will have the same experience!
-
Looks like you are in a sleeveless dress or top, Falconer? Sounds like so much fun and I am impressed. Here in California, on the day that our Governor declared the drought officially over, it is chilly, raining like crazy, wind blowing....a boat ride wouldn't be much fun. Sitting in front of the fire. Hoping it clears up enough for lots of steps tomorrow!
-
Octogirl, glad to hear the drought is over even if it means sweater weather for a bit.
Don't let my bare arms fool you- it was windy and chilly out on the river- inside though was a hot and sweaty dance floor! We came out for some fresh air and DH got the photo.
Varga- I can't remember if you're working during treatment or not. Listen to your body- it's ok to need extra rest now. You'll get your energy back again. -
Just catching up after by NYC trip. Had a lovely time, but also a bit too skewed in the work direction. Had a ton of stuff going on, so only got to see the Frick Museum which was so wonderful to see again. I also went for a walk during a Nor'easter, and caught the virus my friend has. So it's not been the most fun of weeks as a ton of work and wanting to be resting, not working. However, I am on the mend.
While out for the walk and a ride on the new 2nd Avenue Subway, I had a makeover at Bloomingdale's. Great fun, and I did learn a couple of tips. Most of all, YSL has reissued their fab red holiday lipstick. I just love it.
As for exercise, I do everything I did prior to diagnosis. The one that had me worried was Nordic skiing, but I decided there was only one way to find out if I could do it. I have been just fine. Went 21 times this past winter. I added running into the mix a few years back and that made my balance better. I never thought I had a problem, but two weeks in, I realized that I was more sure footed.
Here is the post makeover picture. Happy to be back. Cycling season awaits - Claire

hi all and welcome Blessed2016 and Rebamacfan123! Great pix everyone.
Wonderland love the watermelon art and casual reference to your bandsaw LOL.
Been walking outdoors around the Capitol square at lunchtime. The city replaced half the water lines last year and is doing the other half this year so it's nice on one side and a dusty noisy mess on the other side. They say will be done by June in time for Concerts on the Square.
Tonight going to see the UW Russian Folk Orchestra's 20th anniversary concert. http://russorch.wisc.edu/20th.html
Supposed to be a really nice day so will go early and walk about Madison, maybe shop State Street, and sit by the lake for a while. Have a great weekend everyone!
-
Love the makeover Claire. I need one of those before I go back to work on May 1. The weather here is crazy. Bad storms last week, tons of rain, then dry and high 70s this week. Good walking weather though. Tomorrow I'm on it. Today is my Ds' 15th birthday. He's the size of an 11-12 year old but ready to start taking some college classes. SMH
Happy weekend all.

Just pulled the dead junk from my flower bed. Plan on working out after dinner
-
'Wake Up' this morning (a lovely way to start the day) and a little walk between all of the Saturday stuff.
Looking great, Claire!

Falconer-I work 24/7 365 days a year. ..lol. I have a AFL with a young adult with Angelman Syndrome. I have had her for 18 years. She's 27 now. I did work for the school system until 2011. I am basically a group home for one. I follow most of the same guidelines as hospital/nursing home or group home would. 2 monthly inspections, daily documentation and keep a MAR. I have her and at least one of the grandkids (sometimes 2) all the time. That explains my fitbit steps...right. ..;o)

Octo: Your picture of the sloth is mesmerizing. He's smiling at me and looking into my soul. I love it!
Nats: I like your new friend! Tell your dh Hello for me. You two look great!
Falconer: Live music and dancing on a party boat sailing around the Statue of Liberty sounds divine.
Claire: So pretty!
Scottie: Happy Birthday to your ds!
Vargadoll: What an amazing woman you are.
M0mmy: Come pull my weeds for me.
Badger: Lol about the bandsaw. In the early 80s country tole painting was very popular so I took a painting class. We painted on wooden cutouts. Dh gave me a bandsaw for Christmas at that time so I could cut out my own things to paint. I made quite a bit of money selling them. Then that type of tole painting lost it's fashion. I'm happy to see some of it coming back. This time there's less detail in the painting and my old eyes appreciate that!
Too windy to walk during this week due to rain and lots of wind. Today was gorgeous so I walked/ran early this afternoon.
-
Wonder, I would if I lived closer
-
Cold & windy here today. 45 minutes on the dreadmill & some abs.
-
busy getting ready for Passover. No walk yet today but still have over 12k steps. DD and SIL arrived early afternoon. Went to see Mom. A little behind on cooking but it will all get done. First sedar is tomorrow night. We are a small group, the 5 of us plus 2 more. The second sedar is just the 5 of us. What we eat tomorrow night is the same Tuesday night. I'm making salmon, quinoa and salad Tuesday lunch and Wednesday lunch is leftovers! I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off and working the rest of the week.
-
Hooray taxes done and I only owe $106.00 to the Fed (mind you I'd already paid them a fortune) and I'm getting a refund from the state, yay. Falconer looking hot even if you were cool. Nats will be thinking of you on thursday and yes say hi to M for me too. Octo your Costa Rica pics are gorgeous and who wouldn't fall in love with a Sloth such a sweet face. Claire great makeover, sorry you caught the bug while you were in New York. Sweet looking forward to your vacation snapshots. Karen enjoy the time with your family, I'm sure you're enjoying having them home with you. Wish your DS a very Happy Birthday Scottie.
Yesterday did Grit Cardio and Body Pump and today did RPM and Body Step.
-
Happy Monday!
Getting caught up after being off the boards for a week. So much going on. Everyone has been so active.
Karen-your daughter sounds very wise and grateful. Amazing for someone her age.
Pat- I hope your friend is better. Lucky you stopped by!
Octo- gorgeous pics
Last week I did Zumba, hydro running and water fitness. Celebrated my 6th cancerversary on April 5th. The weather has turned beautiful here in the northeast. Got outside on Saturday and took out the outdoor furniture and raked out flower bed.
We are off of school this week. It is supposed to be gorgeous the next couple of days. Excited to spend some time outside. Have a dentist appt today to replace two old fillings. Blah. I really hate the sound of the drill; going to try and wear earbuds and listen to music.
-
Beautiful weather today! After weeks of babying my inflamed ankle tendon by being careful and slow, slowly increasing dreadmill time, this morning I taped my ankle and got brave and took a short 20 minute run outside - uneven sidewalks, hills, curbs and all. No apparent ill after effects, so working back slowly seems to be the key. Hopefully I can get one more run in before surgery on Thursday.
-
Nats: Glad you were able to get outside for a safe run!
KB: Take it easy and have fun playing (working) in the mud.
Ginger: Have a great week!
Walked/ran this evening.
-
Glad your ankle felt okay for your run, Nats. Boo Hoo on the surgery! I'm pretty sure that I'm going to do a hysterectomy this summer; It's going to be too annoying to deal with this prolapsed uterus stuff forever
Subbed today, walked after school & went to yoga. Lots of people still have bad colds here, so I'm washing my hands all the time and trying not to let anyone breath on me!!
-
so glad to find this group!! I did pilates today, but need your inspiration to broaden and increase my fitness to lose the tamoxifen pounds!! (not to mention keep me away from ice cream , which I love)...
-
Welcome annoyingb! We can help you with the exercise, but most of us are pretty bad about the ice cream ourselves!
-
Nats and Ruth, I'll be in the surgery club this summer too, though Nats you may be recovered by summer since you're going in this week! Whew! We can share pain meds stories until exercise is possible again... hope all goes well for you on Thursday. Ruth, are you waiting until school's out?
Hi annoyingboob, glad you had a Pilates session today. That's an exercise plan I never got into myself. I tend to stick to running and yoga these days.
We drove down to Philadelphia this weekend to visit family and friends. Lots of walking. Going for a run tomorrow morning!
-
Falconer, yes, I'm waiting. The doctor said I could do it at my convenience (or not do it at all, which would probably be okay if I lived a sedentary life.....which I don't!). I actually think I will wait until July. Along with the end of the school year stuff now through May, in June I have a trip planned, a family reunion, and a wedding!
