Let's Post our Daily Exercise

I am seeing ortho surgeon Friday and I expect the issue of surgery (knee replacement) will be a topic of conversation: I want to hold off until fall or winter but my knees are getting worse and worse and the AIs aren't helping (I was told ten years ago I'd probably need a replacement at some point, and with the letrozole I have the feeling that some point is coming soon).
Meanwhile, i am stiff and sore but am trying to keep walking. It is getting harder and harder to even do a mile or two, though I did manage to hike on my trip. Today my walking consisted of the walk from my office to the parking lot. Granted, it is a few blocks, but I need to be more active! Thanks to all of you for keeping me motivated. Swimming is easier, so still managing that...
Welcome annoyingboob!
Octogirl

Octogirl, it's great that you have swimming to keep you active. I'm awful at it. I wonder if I am too old to learn. My dad was always an excellent swimmer, and when his osteoarthritis was so bad that he needed hips replaced at 48 years old, it was the only exercise he could keep doing. I always promised myself I'd stay active so I could keep those arthritis genes at bay, but here I am at 46, on a fast track to becoming a broken down barnacle of a barge. Well I just finished a 3.8 mile run in 30ish minutes. So I'm trying!!!
-
There's water aerobics, which you don't need to be able to swim to do. I took a class many years ago & it was a good workout (but I was too lazy to get dressed to drive to the pool, change into my suit, get wet, get dry, get dressed, drive home, take a shower, get dry again etc. etc.)
I'm going to do an hour of toning this morning; and since it's nice out, I plan to snatch the grand-puppy for a dog walk this afternoon.
-
Getting a little exercise this morning by hanging out laundry. First time this Spring for this. Can't wait for when I can hang out the laundry on a regular basis.
-
Pilates, check. Dogwalk, check. I attempted that bird pose someone posted and I need more practice and a softer carpet!! Love the videos - I'm going to start yoga at home so any and all online recommendations appreciated
-
Hi annoyingboob. . .this is a great board to stay motivated. Have you tried Halo Top ice cream? Low fat, with added fiber and protein. Love the vanilla bean, birthday cake and mint chip.
Exercise yesterday . . .45 very slow walking minutes on the dreadmill. Saw PS again today and got the go ahead for the wall crawl. First use of my arms. Beginning in May, I can swim and do water aerobics and hopefully start with small weights. Yeah!!!
Scottie

Yay Scottie!
-
Welcome annoyingboob! (Love your name)
Scottie: Nice!
Just returned from my walk. It's 83 degrees with beautiful blue sky and light breeze.
-
Ladies need ideas on good beginning yoga programs. Did yoga years ago and thinking it would be helpful now but with so many option out there not sure where to start .
-
I have a couple Denise Austin yoga DVDs I like.
-
I really love Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. Lots of levels to choose from and she's so easy to listen to. I started with 30 Days of Yoga Camp.
-
Falconer, 3.8 miles in 30 minutes would be more than I could even attempt, much less do! Congrats on that!
As Ruth says, many gyms have water aerobics classes done in the shallow end and you don't need to swim. The water helps counteract the gravity on the knees and hips. Fortunately, I love the water enough to put up with the dress, undress, get wet, get dry. etc etc etc routine. And even more fortunately, my gym is close enough to my house that I put on my bathing suit under my clothes at home, and even in bad weather (which around here, of course, means lows in the thirties and forties, which it goes without saying is not even in the same category as weather where Ruth lives), I can add a soak in the hot tub to my routine and then stay warm enough to quickly drive home for my shower and change......
-
I did water aerobics for many years and that undressing, showering and dressing was the pits but the class was wonderful. Good news Scottie just ease back in. Great that you managed a run Nats.
Yesterday I did Cardio Dance Party and tonight Sprint and Body Flow Express. -
Hubby and I did a walk around our neighborhood after dinner
-
octo - I love your sloth pic! They're my favorite animal!
Honeybeaw - yogatoday.com is one of my favorite sites. They have all kinds of videos that you can sort by ability level.
Monday will be the six-week mark for me and I'm starting to consider running again with cautious optimism. Does anyone have any advice for stuffing TEs into a sports bra?
-
I love our water fitness classes and a soak in the hot tub is a great reward at the end.
Facebook reminded me that 6 years ago today was my first breast cancer surgery. I am much happier that today I am enjoying spring vacation, reading a book in the sunshine and going to hydrorunning class tonight.

Yea Ginger!!!
Had a fun walk with the Wednesday Women (note the pastels in honor of Easter) and a dog walk this afternoon (DS is out of town for a couple days so we're back on doggie duty). I am off to yoga in a bit.
-
Hooray Ginger! Ruth - love the pastels. Welcome, annoyingboob - you've found the right group.
I'm as ready as I can be for surgery tomorrow. I made a huge slow cook batch of my favorite chicken lime soup to pull on as I recover, and we moved the big recliner "surgery chair" into the living room. Between the two of us, we've spent a lot of time post-surgery in that chair - I think I slept in it for 6 weeks after my DIEP - so we know it's comfortable. Took Mikey the Min Pin for a long walk this afternoon as it will be the last time I'll be able to walk him for a while. The surgery chair is big enough that he can curl up with me and keep me company. I even treated myself to a pedicure and got a bright spring green polish applied. I figure I'm going to feel lousy for a while, so at least I'll have cute toes to look at.
The lymphedema therapist in the hospital's PT department and the surgeon have worked together, and the surgeon will write an order allowing the therapist in recovery to compression wrap my arm immediately after surgery, in the hopes of avoiding/minimizing an LE flare after surgery. Let's hope it works out.
Wish me luck! I'll post back when I can in a few days or a week. Enjoy your exercise, everyone!
-
NatsFan,
Will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending good vibes for successful surgery.
-
yesterday was body sculpt and treadmill. Tonight was pizza with some old friends🍕🍕. No time yet to work with New Zealand pix but will share a few as soon as I'm able.
BCyogi - welcome! I never had any trouble with sports bras with my expanders. Perhaps a little trouble getting the darn sweaty things off with reduced strength and range of motion. Go for it!
-
Good luck tomorrow, Nats. (I'd say "break a leg", but I don't think it's an appropriate send-off for someone having surgery!
)
-
sweetandspecial - thanks! We'll see how it goes next week
-
Nats, will be thinking of you tomorrow. Wishing you and easy and speedy recovery.
The weather is heating up in Denver. Today was around 70...after lunch sat outside reading. Tomorrow and Friday is going to be in the high 70s. Too hot for me this time of year.
After 2 days off for Passover its back to work tomorrow and Friday. We had both sedars at home. The first night we had 2 guests and last night was just the 5 of us. Lots of cooking Sunday and Monday and of course too much eating. I still have lots of turkey left and chicken soup. I made the same thing for both sedars so new cooking. Tomorrow I'm making fish for dinner and then its starts all over again for Shabbat. At least I got some nice walks in yesterday and today.
Welcome to annoyingboob....great name.
Sweet dreams.
-
frustrated here - I had my day planned to the millisecond. started with taking car to get some sensor replaced. well, that took longer than expected, and then my whole day went under. missed pilates, which really grates me bc they charge you extra when you cancel less than 24 hrs AND I was really looking forward to the workout. grrrrr...getting hair done tomorrow and cant shower for 3 days after, so no working out for the next 3 days. DAMN YOU, CAR!!!
-
Nats, will be thinking of you and sending good vibes for a speedy recovery!
Annoyingb, sorry the day got so off track!
Did some walking today, seeing ortho Friday, hope he can give me some good advice on my knees.
-
Sending healing wishes your way Nats and while you're in that chair give Mikey a hug from me. Great picture Ruth. Annoyingboob sorry you had one of those days it's amazing how one thing can snowball and ruin your plans. Onto I'm looking forward to hearing what he says, my knees play up from time to time so I take Glucosamine and that seems to help, then I forget to take it - I'm hopeless!!!!
Tonight did Body Pump. -
Thinking of you Mary and hope all goes well. Annoyingboob, hang in there and can fully relate. Cheryl, I too forget to take glucosamine. So many terrific photos and lots going on active wise. I've finished the case study - all is well , passed and course completed. Been covering classes for many instructors who are home with kids. We are having a quiet weekend with friends coming for dinner on Sunday. Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Body Balance tonight.
-
Natsfan. . .sending prayers and thoughts for your surgery.
Scottie
-
Congratulations, on passing the course, Lilac.
Karen, I gain weight just reading about all your cooking!!!
Took a little dog walk this morning, met up with a friend for a cardio/weight combination Fitness On Demand DVD, guilted DH (who was still napping in the recliner when I got home from doing all of the above) into helping with some yard work (just raking up branches, old leaves etc. so far, too early here for planting anything) and will walk the dog at least once more today. Now I need to clean up and do errands.
Thinking of you, Mary.
-
Ran/ walked three miles this afternoon. I'm really tired today. Boo.
In the spirit of Passover, I'd like to sing Dayenu to all of you here on the BCO boards for all that you do to keep us afloat. Dayenu!
