MIDDLE-AGED WOMEN 40-60ish

Eph- I need eyebrow tats too at some point. Only some of them came back after chemo. Drawing them on is getting old. Did it hurt and how long did it take. The tat guy said it would take about 40 minutes each nip. I am so excited.
Cakes- very funny about the tatter-tits on a menu. I told my brother I could put a cup out at my shop that said Tips for Nips. -
Tips for Nips...too funny! (Insert missing smiley here.)
I am sure my hair thinned a bit during chemo, but it was not even noticeable to others. However, my brows thinned to half, I lost a lot of eyelashes which was very noticeable, and had hardly no armpit hair all summer (liked that!) The lashes are coming back and I have hopes for my brows. They don't look raggedy, just 50% thinner all over. I have bangs that mostly cover them for now. -
Jessica, I think the others already gave good explanations about the reason for a 40-60 group, I'd just add that I think the 50 line gets more and more blurred each passing year unfortunately. We seem to see more and more young women joining the ranks. No matter where the mid line falls with tine of diagnosis though, women of a certain age will always be women of a certain age! Stick around for some laughs in the midst of our other life struggles, which include cancer.
Cakes, love the menu ideas!
Eli, I'm wondering what to bring to Thursday's party...thinking light is the way to go. Perhaps a few airy silver dollar pancakes? Easy to transport for the crowd I'm sure will be along with me -
Eli - wanted to send my best wishes for an easy surgery on Thursday. I love this site, even if I don't post much because I'm over the age limit (ha ha). Although my son did get me an MP3 when I started chemo this year so I sort of qualify? Anyway, I'll be thinking of you. -
Dianarose, unlike my other 9 tattos, the permanent make-up artist numbed by brow bone so although the tats did sting & burn some it didn't hurt, hurt! It took approx 90 minutes all told. I've been told you need touch-ups every 3 yrs or so due to fading from sun, etc. but so far, so good. (but it's only been a year) -
Fruity drinks and fruity pastries for Elimar's pocket party tomorrow. We're with you.
-
Thanks for all the well wishes. I will try my best to be an overachiever once again and get out of that hospital a.s.a.p. (or sooner!)
You all are going to torture me with pics of tasty morsels...my prep is a liquid diet today. Don't know how quickly I will get back to eating solids, but I am pretty sure that the first meals they send my way will not be big on "presentation," and no doubt have a -12 star Michelin rating.
I did gain about 4 lbs. in the two months PFC, but am still a lower weight than when the surgeon initially carved me up in March. I don't recommend this weight loss method to anyone. Within days of my surgery, I should quickly gain about 2-3 extra pounds. Not going to elaborate, but think about it a minute and you will figure that out. -
Yup Eli.......I think we get the picture! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well for you and you are home quickly.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Just in case you can't make home in time, E. -
You ladies crack me up with Tips for Nips and mapping out a route home for Eli that contains an outhouse, just in case.
Eli - will be jumping in tomorrow also - wishing you smooth sailing and a quick recovery. I am sure you will excel as a patient once again.
This is the best I could do for you Eli - You can have your salad and drink it too! -
Well darn it - the pictures I want won't show on my post. It was a can of liquid named "Salad Water". Thought it would be something that wouldn't make you crave too much of what you can't have Eli. -
Eli...I hope you'll be up and about in no time....
-
Elimar - so happy it's time to get put back together again!
I guess it's true there's a pill for everything:
Heal well and get home soon! -
I want some SALAD WATER! -
I found this. -
hmmmm why won't it support the link? -
Let's try copy & paste: -
Nope! -
It's Cocoa season here! My contribution to the PP for El. -
-
I forgot to mention that at a meeting last night I was mistaken for a woman that is 20 years my senior (now that my hair has come in 1/2 grey). I guess now I look as old as I feel. Sheesh! -
J - My hair turned naturally gray/white beginning in my early 30s. DD born when I was nearly 35. Can't count the # of times while she was in elem. school I got called her grandma. (((HUGS))) Your hairdresser will never tell if you color it.
Elimar - I tried to post that but none of mine would come out but I did find this (although I think they don't make it anymore at least certainly not in USA). Vegie and fizzy at the same time. Water Salad is a Coke product. -
I forgot to say (back when we were talking missing brows and lashes) that I had to renew my license this year...now that's a fetching look for the next six years!
jcolford, who made that mistake? Oblivious man or witchy woman? Your avatar pic looks nine times better than my license, so don't fret too much. That cocoa looks good too (typed as I sip my beef broth...blah,)
Are the Cucumber Water and the Salad Water NEW? I have not ever seen them and I would probably like to drink them (at least once.) I'd use them to wash down some Jalapeno Cheetos.

Why is it when, some years ago, we tried to envision the future for ourselves, hardly a one of us thought there would be cancer in it? I sure didn't!
What's next? -
El ~ thinking of you and wishing for the best! Remember I will be there for you in your pocket and I will continue to poke you until you wake up! Don't be a hero and try to come home too soon, take it easy and let the nurses pamper you for a little
If you hear a buzz and feel the poke it's me telling you that you slept enough. Get UP!
((((HUGS)))) -
No I didn't see cancer, heart disease yes, but not cancer. UH maybe we don't want to see what's next.
Elimar - I found apple cider to be the best thing when I had my colonoscopy. Room temperature I could chug it down and good hot too.
Didn't tell you gals. Hit a deer in DH's truck yest. on way to Bible study. Front end kaput. Deer ran off but left his calling card hair in radiator. Lovely thing about small town. Sweet lady who with her DH owns small auto parts store U turned and pulled it to see about me. Drove me home since I could not raise the napping DH on the phone. I need to take her something. Ford dealer said about 2 weeks to fix it. DH was afraid ins. would total it out but did not cost as much as he feared. It is 10 years old but only about 98,000 miles. One of us will be driving his old truck that he has threatened to sell. Think if I'd hit it in my Equinox and not his F-150 it would have been in car with me - I think it was a good sized buck. DH has been back/forth on which ins. plan to chose at work. I think he took higher deduc. one. He thinks I should be able to see the future. NOT. Otherwise I would have taken the other road to town. -
Luv ~ I hope you are ok, that was so sweet of the couple to give you a ride. I hope you are not too sore tomorrow.
I am having a colonoscopy on the 11th any tips you can give me? Not looking forward to it but (ha ha) it needs to be done. -
Kat - Thanks for the well wishes; not really sore. Actually the airbag didn't even deploy. I had a colon. last December. The prep which kept me "hopping" was actually pretty easy. It was called Suprep - came in a box. Nasty tasting but easy on the gut. Like I wrote to Eli I could chug the apple cider in the amounts called for without any trouble. I had a barium enema years ago - yuck crampy prep and not much fun for the test. LOL. I actually got good sleep night b4. DH and I went shopping afterwards. I had propofol, the stuff Michael Jackson used (well misused) for his insomnia. Nothing to be afraid of. Out like a light and then wide awake again unlike the Versed used for surgery which is hard to wake up from - course surgery IS different. We put ours off a long time - DH 62, me 60. I was determined to get mine done last year since I was on 100% insurance coverage. Now if I can just talk my onco. into a bone density b4 the first of the year for the same reason. Betting it won't happen. Not due until next April. -
Good luck Eli, you are in my prayers. I will be having my colonoscopy in Dec as I am on the 5 year plan. Fun time....not! -
Okay Eli, sweet dreams and sugar plums and all good thoughts and prayers for wondermous things tomorrow. Hugs sweetie -
Hey, oh my gosh! I have my toolbar back!!! YAY! Now to also see if I can get paragraphs.E~ will keep good thoughts for you. Take it easy, gal.
Great Tigers game tonight, tied the series. Need to win tomorrow to take the lead before heading back to Boston. (sorry Boston fans!)
