I'm sorry Coonie, I'm so ashamed.

I met the gal at our local farmers market but she lives nearby.  Another local farmer very close makes sheep cheese.  It is YUMMER.

Congrats ((( Faith )))) - way to go !!!!    I love lamb also - as a kid we were allowed our favorite for our birthday - I was the expensive kid - lamp chops...   My husband was Greek and I learned to cook things from his mom, sis and aunt.  Even taught Greek Cooking classes.   Me, German, Scott and Irish teaching Greek food classes...    We are planning Greek food for Christmas Eve at my DS and DDIL's.  Pastitchio, Dolmades,Kefthedes, Mousakka, Spanakopita, feta, Kefilateri (cheese), olives.   Makes my mouth water to type it.

I had to do one pile of laundry, then it multiplied overnight to 2 loads.  You know how that is !!!   Hugs,  Nancy

Thanks team. I am indeed on Cloud Nine.

Will float on over to Cloud Ten when the thing is bound and the boxes are in the warehouse, filled to the brim with happy giraffes.

In a nutshell, Mum: I have taken a song I wrote and recorded in 2002 and am turning it into a 32 page, hard cover picture book. The song is entitled "Tall Giraffe" and is cumulative, with each verse adding another rhyming tidbit. I teach it in sign language.

My neice went to Africa as part of a mission trip & she & her traveling friends took pictures of giraffes in the wild there. We also got pics from a couple of other friends who'd made such a safari.

Then I got all sorts of fabrics from Africa. My sister scanned the fabrics into her MAC. Then she and I together digitally 'quilted' borders for the photographs. She put the lyrics onto the fabrics.

In any case, it's been a labor of love for several years now.

My parents are waiting with eagerness to see the finished copy. I decided to put both of our names on the cover -- in a collaborative effort acknowledgement.

The CD recording will be in the back of the book.

The whole thing is indeed a parable about perseverance.

Of course it's not actually done yet...... but we're getting closer!!!

    Enough about me.

ARNIE. My heart is with you today. While I don't know a thing about drains or chemo, I certainly know my own experience with rads. You're coming down the home stretch now!!

Mary & Jayne, how are the two of you holding up??

Shiny. Forgiving oneself is a noble gesture. It may be easier to sit in the corner than forgive for our failings, shotcomings and over-sights. Your gathered sisterhood here knows your heart of gold and your working in the face of it all spirit. I will call the school and insist they let you attend, if it's being offered again. For Pete's sake, play the "cancer card" if necessary -- but if they're performing again, I say crash the gates.

Started a little list here and that always short changes so many.

All the rest of you dustbunnies, know that you are in my heart..... you wouldn't want to be in my swiss cheese brain anyhow.

Vivvy, girl of tomorrow..... glad to see you posting. Makes me happy to see you.

Hi, hunny bunnies.  I have to go back and catch up, but I just wanted to write this note to you, as I am using a computer in the waiting area of the hospital cancer center where I see my med onc shortly and tell her that I've quit taking tamoxifen and that she couldn't pay me to go back on it or anything else (except maybe Evista) because I have felt better every single day since I stopped it.

I start my first infusion visit with the fatigue research study this Friday, and shiny, I've followed your progress in the accupuncture study with interest.  I'll keep you all posted.

I am feeling better though, although I'm not out of the fatigue ditch yet.  But my faint-headedness, my headaches, and some of my flat-out "I have to lie down NOW" bouts have eased up a lot.  I am still finding work a challenge, but I did get my pcp to write me a note to enable me to work less than full-time for a while, so that will help.  It's only going to shorten my work week by the equivalent of one work day, but it helps.  If I think I can afford to go without that day's pay, I'll make it official next year perhaps.

KAK----glad you are feeling SOME better. Hope you get back to 100% real soon! Thinking of you while at the doctor's office.

Faithie---I want a book!!! DD would love one to add to her library of kiddy books for her classroom. In case I can't post on another thread (I'm at work on this 1800's computer) I tried to donate to your walk Saturday, but couldn't get it to work. Any trick I need to know. Since I can't come walk with you, the least I can do is donate for the cause:)

Hey bunnies.....I've bought one of those pocket pedometer thingies and hooked it to my waist. I think I've heard it's good if you can get in 10,000 steps a day. Well, I could have SWORN I'd done at least that, but I just looked and it's only at 602. Whewwwww......I got a LOOOOONG way to go....hehe. GRRRREAT GOOOOOGA MOOOOOGA!!!

(((((Arnie))))) thinking about your girlfriend getting those tattoos and all. Another step closer to being done with treatment. How's the hair coming along? I'd love to see a picture.

((((MaryRose))))) thinking about you too!! Is your hair coming in ok? Has the strength started returning?

(((((Jayne)))) How much longer for your treatment? I think 'bout you all the time too.

OK.......not listing, but just remembering those who are in treatment and praying for you to be done soon and FEEL BETTER!!!

Got this pain that gets much worse in the evening, but as it is worse in pm, ei, not same all the time, i will asume it is nothing more then a flue like thing and hope it passes soon, deep in my right side. ME LEMONETTE!

Arnie, hugs re all the rads on the way and for being a super grandma despite all your treatments.

Faith Brilliant re your new book. I have not got all your cds yet, but in due course, I sure will! We would also love another video please! We had Queezeltown on this a.m, just love that potatoe song!xx Well Done!

Well, ladies, I announced to the med onc that I went off tamoxifen and effexor and why, and how much better I feel now, and she didn't even give me a hard time.  Because I had no invasive components, she said she feels comfortable about anti-hormone meds being 'optional,' and she agreed that I would benefit more from feeling really well again and being able to tolerate more exercise and more normal activity in general.  So, that's that and YAY!!  I don't have to go back to see her unless, heaven forbid, I need new drugs or have a new issue.

On other fronts, I went to the radio station this morning and recorded my essay for their public radio series called "This I Believe."  My essay is entitled "Breast Cancer Awareness -- the Real thing."   Basically it's about how those of us who have breast cancer most need an awareness of how to get from one day to the next, and that one of the best ways I've found to do that is right here, on this forum, by being able to talk with all of you.  I'll let you all know when I'll actually be on the air (early December) and provide a link so you can hear it anywhere you are.  Also, I'll be having a portrait photograph taken that will be posted online with all the other essayists in the series, along with a copy of my essay.  There is also an audio archive of all the essays online.  The host of this series, who is a nice man who teaches social work at Brown University, said that there are many types of people and organizations who use these essays, from cause-oriented groups to teachers of writing and journalism, and who sometimes contact the essayists to do some speaking or teaching or writing.  So, that's pretty exciting, because I might be invited to do a bit more in a public venue for our group cause here.

Love and hugs to you all:  Jayne, Mary, Arnie, Jane, shiny, Linda, F&F, Coonie, Sharon, Barbe, Cheryl, Elaine, Lucy, Julie, Julz, Deb in Ohio, and everyone else whose name I'm spacing on, but you occupies a little niche in my heart.

Hugs Shiny-you will have fabulous time on your girls weekend. I LOVE when I can do that w/ my dd.

Kathi- hope you are feeling better and able to come to some understanding w/ the onc. If your recurr. risk is not so high, might not be worth taling the tamoxifen.
