Morning All,
Hubby says he will do the cleaning today (sometimes that translates to I'll start it and then you finish it) but hey every little bit helps these days. I also plan on putting in a couple of rose bushes and some fruit plants I bought a couple of days ago. I just have never been the gardening type but that seems to be changing. Also want to get the kids involved, the time just goes by so quickly before they are gone and out on their own. I'm trying to remember to take time each day with each of them. Well I better get going but will check back in now and then to see what everyone else is up to. I'm serving up hot coffee, tea or chocolate to go with some yummy donuts if anyone wants to join me.
-
Hey ladies!!! Don't know how much house cleaning will get done today. But....you can count on me to be where the donuts, cookies, coffee is being handed out
Cathi....I've been thinking about Margo too. Give us a new pic. I bet she's growing just a little bit, huh?
Nana....so sorry the chemo is being so hard on you. Just be good to yourself and take it easy. It really does help to have SOMETHING on your head. I just about froze last winter without my hair. I had a cap or hat on all the time, even while sleeping. I just don't see how all those lil ole bald headed men go around without a hat
I'll check in with you girls later today. My DD has been so sick, so we're going to the doctor this morning. She's just not getting better..........sore throat, cough, fever.....hopefully, he can give her something to make her feel bette soon. ((((((((((hugs to all of you)))))))))))))))
-
mom2....I'll take a chocolate old fashioned donut and one of those pretty pink ones in front there....mmmm.....and some green tea. Thank You!
-
I'll have a coffee roll and a diet coke. As you can see, I'm a health nut!

I decided that I really needed to clean the shower when my dh started threatening to do it with the power washer.

I used to think Diet Coke had some sort of anti cancer properties....the reason I thought that is cuz I'm a Diet Pepsi fan and I got the dreaded cancer. Now...I think you've gone and messed up my hypothesis.
-
Did my thing for today, got my wig! woo hoo I have hair again! lol
I also went shopping ... got a slow cooker, all these recipes you ladies post here, mine broke a while ago and have missed it so. I also bought a nice purple scarf to tie around my head for while I'm home.
So, i'm pooped, done it, time to rest. oh yes, did a couple of dishes that were in the sink, try to keep on top of those so they don't mountain on me.

Caligirl - I used to drink Diet Pepsi but for some reason changed to diet Coke after having my children. My hypothesis is that diet pepsi makes you get pregnant. So, I'm sticking with diet coke!
Nana, glad you found a wig! I've mentioned this before on another thread but thought you may find it of interest. The American Cancer Society does a "Look Good Feel Better" (I think that's the name) seminar. It's actually fun. It's a small group of ladies who are going through treatment. They give out gift bags with hundreds of dollars worth of makeup, skin care etc. They give you tricks on how to do different things. They also had free wigs for patients. I know they can cost a fortune! You should check it out and see if one will be in your area. Anyone can go, and you can bring a friend.
-
Makraz....Let's all thank GOD diet pepsi didn't make ME pregnant!! Especially since my hubby was cheating on me the entire time we were together!! Can you imagine raising a 3rd child without a father while sick with cancer? OH NOOOOOO!
Nana...I've heard of the Look Good Feel Better program too. My friend went and really enjoyed it a bunch. Your health insurance should cover the cost of a wig. Mine did. Sounds like you have had a very busy morning already. Way to go on getting it all done!!
-
I have some susage gravy that I made last night we could have that with the donuts and coffee!!
Well it time to tackle the DS taxes again. Kept putting it off with the nice weather. Will check back later

Cai girl, Coke has orange as the base ingredient, pepsi has lemon. One reason there are die hard coke or pepsi drinkers -- very different tastes. Coca Cola company owns Minute Maid orange groves...
Makraz, I am the last one on the Look Good Feel Better video - in the turquoise blouse. It was filmed the end of July and I do now have enough hair to go without head covering unless it is cold out or windy. Not all of them have free wigs, but they can direct you to sources. The program is for ANY woman with cancer, not just breast cancer. The website has many make up tips, but the photos of before and after are the former group of women who did the old video several years ago. If you go, take a magnifying mirror and your camera so you can have someone take pictures of before and after and during...
I slept till almost 11:00, guess I needed it. These treatments are cumulative and there are the ups and downs of just having gotten it, then recovering a bit before the next one. I put a new cartridge in the printer and made the bed. Whew - 2 things done today...
Hugs, Nancy
-
Denise, I gotta ask cause no on else did. Sausage gravy with donuts?
-
Just did the Look Good Feel Good and it was wonderful. I belong to a support group and that was our theme for the evening. Had a great time and the hair stylist that was there gave us some great tips about hair care and gave us coupons for free hair cuts colors the works.
Cleaning the van this morning. Took the girls carseats out to clean under them. YUK YUK YUK YUK!!!!!!!!!! Well back to it I'm halfway there.
-
barbe, sure, like a "brunch" menu. One place I love for Sunday brunch has an all you can eat, including bins of Crab legs. I limit myself to 3 plates...
-
mmmm .... Sausage Gravy....my favorite homemade breakfast.
Well that would explain why I prefer diet pepsi...I LOVE LOVE LOVE lemon desserts, in fact, i'm making one today for our neighborhood barbecue potluck.
-
Cali, that sounds like fun. I should organize a building potluck bar b q - I am in an apartment complex. Hope there is lots of music and I know there will be great eats. I am jealous.
-
Oh Lefty...It is going to be a lot of fun. Ever since my hubby left in January all my neighbors have been rallying round me. Yes, we'll have music and laughter. Good eats are a sure bet as well. Don't be jealous...just join us! There will be plenty of food.

Hi, the lady who worked with me on fitting and styling the wig, does the look good feel good class and she gave me a flyer on it. I will be attending it next month. She mentioned that we get lots of free goodies. I got my wig from them - $200 coupon towards the wig. Big help!
Washed my slow cooker ... bout all I did since I've been home. still pooped.
Biscuits and gravy, nice, comfy food. Sounds yummy.
-
I loved the look good feel better seminar. I went last October, during my rads. It was amazing. I definitely recommend it!
Barbe - did you miss the donuts this morning? Scroll back, yummy donuts!!
Caligirl - keep drinking your Diet Pepsi!! Here's to no more kids!!
-
Mak, I didn't have any donuts cause someone wanted to put GRAVY on them. Sausage gravy!
I am the gravy QUEEN. I can make gravy off of a toothpick. I make the world's best gravy. Had some last night from the pork roast. But come on, gravy and donuts?
Now biscuits! Gravy and biscuits. Count me in...
-
Makraz....HERE HERE!! TO NO MORE KIDS!! (raising my tumbler of diet pepsi....)

I was going to make the buscits but had no shorting. Me I just used toast, but my DH put it in his oatmeal then added thai chili sauce. I couldn't even watch him eat it... So I guess I do have a weird streak with food. Thanks for asking Barbe
I got one load of clothes done and will be taking the rest of the day off from housework.
-
Just getting back, hubby actually came through and got things pretty well tidied up. We couldn't start the garden today cause the ground was too wet to till. Think we are going to try again Tuesday. Love reading all the posts. Where is Miss Cathi lately? Also want to say a big hello to Pat and if you have an extra leaf blower you can pass it around for all of us to use:) the pressure washer too!

Hi Mum2two,
I am too, mum to 2. 41 and whooped a lot of the time. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for starting this thread, as I can sooo relate! I am mainly after getting ride of things and simplifying the household.
I am working on 1 cupboard at a time and my mission is to have, like I used to, a designated place for everything and the least amount of redundant bits in my house. I love to have a clearout but, well, my husband notices and is not always best pleased!
Still, as I am in charge of pretty much all the household stuff and the kids, I am starting to get bold. I have got 3 kitchen cupboards done this week and sent loads to the charity shop. I will keep looking here for inspiration!
thanks again for the thread.
best wishes

Shiny! Grab your dust rag and join us for the fun and chat. I just saw a plaque today at the store that said "SIMPLIFY". That I think is one of the new goals I am setting for my life. That way I can spend more of my time with the people who matter in my life and less time cleaning and arranging the material things that don't. Sounds like you are already doing that too.
-
Thanks for the WELCOME! Lovely, just before I sign off, it's 11:45 pm here!
I just wanted to add to your simplify sign message, My sister said to me once that at a time when she was giving herself a hard time for trying hard to be super mom/wife/home maker a friend told her" Stop",
"Guilt is optional!". I like that and have never forgotten it. It reminds me that I do, do my best and sometimes my best doesn't get it all done, but that's o.k. I need to keep some energy to be a fun and loving mom and even more so now, that means that I have to accept that I can't do it all, and that it o.k.
Still, nothing like a good clear out to the sound of country music or bue to feel like you've achieved something!
Thanks again for the welcome! It's MOTHER'S DAY here tomorrow, so I might not get a room done Sunday, but I will get back to it later this week.
Keep on clearing!
xx

Hi Shiny,
Welcome! I love your attitude. We could all benefit from that advice. Thanks so much for sharing. Happy Mothers Day!! You should definitely have the day off. Enjoy!

hi can i join in too? the blinds caught my eye. originally from maryland too,but have lived in s.c. a long time.weather is sometimes warmer in winter so i could do this blind thing outdoors.most of us will need someone to take the blinds down and outside. hang over a fence, gate clothesline or chair and spray w/hose. i spray w/cleaner first then hose them down usualloy one blind or 2 each time. if its warm and sunny they dry in a couple hours. if its summer its real quick. i cant do it yet this season, still have mammosite cath i am waiting for last tx monday. also i agree magic sponges clean anything. i am in antique business and you would not believe how grungy oieces can become so great looking. dollar stores sell generic brand which work the same but dont last a couple uses like name brand. thanks for letting me share.
