Spring, I thought it helped with overall arthralgias, evening out my mood, etc after chemo. It worked wonders on my back pain
-
Walked to the Post office and back home with a long steep hill. About two miles. Weather is great, its amazing how alittle sunshine makes your spirits soar.
-
Grandbaby girl LOVED the sheep! There were hundreds of them and she just kept saying Baaaa!! She's too darn cute! She was with us until 2pm yesterday. Boy was I tuckered out. There was dancing and lots of holding her AND we had a mini heat wave. Weather was wacky - jumped up to the 90's and was way too hot for me. Today, windy and cool just hit low 70s. wacky! wacky!
Yoga tonight!! missed last 2 weeks!!
-
day of rest today... traveling to NYC for business mid to end of week, blech. I hate business travel... but after this week, just one more work week then vacation! Lots of bike riding. I hope we have good weather and it's not freezing liket his! We'll ride anyway, just bundle up!
-
Spring- when do you come to NYC? Wanna meet one evening? Only if you are not too busy. I am getting Herceptin this week, too, but would love to meet up and take you to my favorite macrobiotic restaurant Souen.... let me know.
-
Spring, I hate work travel too. I remember a time growing up when I thought that it sounded like fun. I have found taking some bands for strength work and my yoga DVD with me makes it go much better now. (I always have my laptop). The hotel fitness rooms are often so crowded before and after meetings that it was frustrating
-
Spring, you are so good about riding even if its cold! Not me...wimpy west coaster here, heehee
Walked yesterday at lunch and walked to and from yoga last night. Yoga had some more challenging maneuvers and butt is sore! That's good! Yoga was crowded last night and it was funny, a lady next to me (as I walked in) said to me "oh I've seen you before, you're really advanced, you can bend over really far"...I said "oh no I'm not advanced at all, just flexible" - I've had 3 other ladies say that to me (I usually go up front so I can see/hear better), but trust me, I am so off balance and have a long way to go...I get the worst cramps in my feet and legs (thank you Arimidex)!!!
Just walked trail at lunch and stopped for pushups at every bench I saw and did arm exercises as I walked and did some little hills. Am striving to ride my bike when I get home tonight! There I said it...
Hope Survivor and Spring get to meet up! So cool!! Good luck Survivor with Herceptin this week. Hugs
Kate, great idea for travel! I've never had to travel for work, I'm just a peon!! LOL!
-
Hi all, In NYC doesn't look like survivor and I can hook up. today started at 5:30AM and I didn't get to hotel until after 10:30!! another long one tomorrow... I am hoping for some gym time in this hotel on Friday before I fly home. At least that!
-
Spring -we'll meet another time. Since you are/were only here for two days to work it was difficult to schedule any get-together. I do hope, the next time you come to NYC, you will have a bit more time.
As for me....I got Herceptin on Wednesday, met up with my onc, visited a fellow bc survivor at the hospital after she had surgery and had a muga scan yesterday too. Afterwards, I went to NJ to visit an elderly friend to help her with gardening. It was therapeutic for my mind and had a great work-out, too. I love gardening. Now, I am off to work.....
-
I worked out in the hotel gym - 45 on the elliptical before flying home! Low exercise week for me, but I'll be on the bike tomorrow! Can't wait...
-
Hello Ladies - I found us a great song to listen to when working out. You will love it. (What Does Not Kill You Makes You Stronger)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn676-fLq7I
Keep on moving or doing something! It is good for us! As a result of working out / biking daily my last Muga scan was 77, as opposed to over a year ago, when it was 72. This was before chemo. So working out is working. Sending love to all!
-
That muga score was great Survivor! my last one was just above 50, the Avastin I had during chemo was really hard on my heart. Last couple days not much exercise, we had a picnic at work yesterday which was lots of fun, we had 2 teams and did a free throw basketball contest, I sunk 2 shots!! We are going to the nursery this a.m. and will do planting/gardening.. I foresee an aching back in my future!!!
Have a fabulous weekend sistas!
-
Today was a great bike ride 13+ miles. Then a lot of weeding, (and still not done!). Tomorrow more gardening and weeding, and biking maybe, we'll see. Hope everyone is doing well!
Kari, the picnic sounds fun! Congrats on the 2 shots!
-
I am running off to do yoga. 90 minutes hatha.
How is everybody?
-
Yard work, dancing, and spending the day with DD and DGD this weekend! Had to buy a new washer/dryer, that were not budgeted for....but I'm excited for their approval this Friday. I'm really pooped today, so thinking of skipping yoga tonight, I can do it at home, have lots of recorded yoga I need to do. Hope everyone is having good weather!
-
Sunday was a nice 12 mile bike ride after a strong cup of tea which really helped the old energy level !!! Then tons more weeding - I have to day the yard is looking better. Today is DAY OF REST!!! Tomorrow is make up Yoga and Wednesday regular yoga.
Did I mention that next week is VACATION??? Bike riding every day!!! It may rain, I'm bringing my rain gear and riding anyway.
Home yoga is good Kari!!
Tomorrow is my birthday!!! I am so glad to be alive another year! I know you all know what I am talking about. Nothing taken for granted! No being bummed out about being older! Glad to be older, it sure beats the alternative. So happy to be alive. So thankful. Love to you my motivation friends!!!
-
Love to you too Spring! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
-
Quick flyby for me as I head out to jury duty again this a.m. Can't wait to get to the gym tonight.
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear Spring! (((Hugs))) Deanna

Happy Birthday Spring.

Wow...my memory is shot....have I posted here before?
Optifast is going well, down 16 pounds in seven weeks. Add that to what I lost before the program, and I'm down 31 pounds from my highest weight. Only 40 more pounds to go!
My trainer at the gym (rehab hospital outpatient facility) did some research, and put together an upper body workout for me based on my surgery (BMX) and recon (TEs) that he said would help stretch and strengthen my muscles in preparation for exchange in (hopefully) September.
He also gave me some lower body stuff, and cardio, for the weight loss.
Not long ago, I was so out of shape, I was hanging on to DH to limp the 100 feet down to the mailbox and back. But now that I have this nagging pedometer practically glued to my side (thanks, Kaiser....) I have to keep moving.
On Friday, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. Of course, I had Pinterest up on my iPad the whole time....then I did the machines...it's been forever since I've done that!
On Saturday, we picked up my new wheels!
It's a Miami Sun Adult Trike. We got the one with the three gear option, and a big basket in the back.
I have a neurological balance disorder, and years ago I had a bad fall off my mountain bike. I thought I would never ride again. But we got this trike, and Saturday evening, went for a 45 minute ride! I was SO happy - that was something that DH and I enjoyed doing together and we'd had to quit. Now, I'm back on wheels! (Just three instead of two..)
I am loving reading about all the ways you ladies are moving, moving, moving.....
-
Spring, HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOMAN!! I know exactly how you feel about being blessed to be here another year!! I have a milestone birthday coming next week and I am excited!
Blessings, how cool is that bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful that you can enjoy biking again and that you and your DH can enjoy it together! Just like Spring and her DH!!
Deanna, UGH jury duty? Did you get picked to serve on a jury?
Hi PT and Survivor!!
Well, I didn't do any yoga! UGH! I went to the chiropractor after work instead and was just exhausted by the time I got home. I babysit after work today so there's always tomorrow...Did 1.5 mile walk at lunch, so that was something at least.
-
cool bike!
Thanks for the bday wishes! it was a great day! I love my birthday!
so today was 90 minutes of yoga. feels good!
-
Yeah! Blessing- I love your bike too. Very cool!
Speaking of bikes and rides. I did a fabulous bike ride today for about three hours. With little stops here and there. Had lunch, did meditation. I actually wanted to squeeze in some yoga too, but had no time for it. Maybe tomorrow.
Here are some photos of my bike ride. I got off my usual path and did a different route. I just loved breathing in the fresh air. Although, it was a misty day with clouds above, I somehow managed to come home with a red face. There was no sun and no wind today. It beats me!
-
That is gorgeous Survivor!! 3 hour leisurly bike ride sounds nice. Next week for me!
Tonight I had to do some repotting and gardening in anticipation of being gone on vacation next week. I don't think my poor little plants would have survived for a week with no water in the tiny pots. So lots of work done to get them in larger! Weeded too, and planted a few in the ground. More tomorrow!
-
LOVE thos pics Survivor, absolutely gorgeous! I love looking at the differences between our coasts and terrain. We did some gardening/replanting, etc. last weekend. DH and I will walk tonight! Know you will have a fab time next week Springie!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love to all!!
-
All I did tonight was garden and repot my butt off!! I was dripping sweat! We leave tomorrow on vacation for a week, Hilton Head and the bike trails, can't wait!
My back has a kind of pinchy feeling sometimes, in the spine. I am so sorry I didn't get to the chiropractor this week. I think I need an adjustment. ugh. The travel to NYC I think messed up my back with a suitcase and heavy back pack! I am considering a chiropractic appt while on vacation... My husband is discouraging me, but we'll see...
-
Finally made it to Hilton Head and had a 10 mile ride today. This ride used to be huge for us, and not it's like what we do a few times a week (and we ride further now at home!). So we may need to mix it up! Having a great time. Eating too much!
-
Great workout for you Spring! Way to go!!!
I chose to do a bike ride too. I did it after work. I needed to de-stress. I have a weird co-worker who has been stressing me out since Friday. I came home crying that day. Anyway, I had a relaxing bike ride.
Have a great week everyone!
-
Spring, milestone when 10 miles is no biggie!! WOW! I did 8 miles yesterday in the WINDY heat, was very proud of myself. Reflecting on a cousin's death (car accident) in Kentucky over the weekend. Also, did yoga and went for walks and cleaned the house! Lots accomplished!
Survivor, been there done that regarding the coworker thing. It's awful. Hoping you can find a way to deal with that, especially when we spend so many hours at work. Sending hugs
Where is everyone??????? Keep Moving!!
-
Kari, I'm so sorry about your cousin's tragic death. Tell us more when you feel up to it.
Spring, you keep inspiring me! Glad you're having such a good time on vacation! Makes me want to go to the beach!
What's up with the weird co-worker, Survivor? How in the world did they make you cry? But isn't bike riding a great way to de-stress?! Love your photos! I can't believe that gorgeous wooded area exists within greater NYC! Amazing!
Hi to Kate, ptdreamers and everyone else. Once again, I'm trying to pull away from so much time on BCO, so even if I don't post, I'm still here and reading, as well as walking and going to the gym. Love you all ~ Deanna
