Weight January 12, 176
-
OK granny...let's hope for a sunny and pleasantly warm day...
Good Night
-
Enjoy the warmth!! I will!
Good for you Sheila, for losing weight. I am so happy I quit work and am back to the gym. My hamstrings are killing me today, though. Feels good. I love working out, just hate the ride to the gym. Once I'm there, I could spend all day there! -
I changed my avatar back to me at the beach.................I so want to go to the beach!!
-
I thought the avatar looked familiar.
I'd invite you out here, Sheila, but now you wouldn't believe that CA is warm after I've been complaining. I'm afraid neither one of us would do the housework because we'd be sitting around chatting all the time.
-
Linda, was afraid you'd get sick...who will take care of you now? I hope your son is able to fend off this flu.
I put off the shot when I got a cold...am ready now and hope there is at least one left for me. I never got a shot but now I am a bit fearful since my immunity seems low. Next week when classes start, I'll be exposed constantly.
I noticed your avatar - nice!
Sheila, I was right there with the weight too (and am not as tall as you)...lost 29 pounds now gained back 10. Even though I'm still down those other 19 pounds, I really feel the 10 and hate how my clothes don't fit. Am on a carbs binge since I traveled in August. I have a gym membership but have been sick and don't feel motivated.
Wishing everyone stays warm and well.
Joan -
Linda, hope you and your family feel better soon! My DH is coming down with something again...he hadn't even gotten rid of his cough from his last sickness at xmas...
Joan, I hope you can find a place to get a flu shot.
DD got her flu shot at Walgreens today. DS is under 18, so no shot for him. Will have to call around on Monday to see where I can get him one and then figure out when and how to get him there around visiting my mother at the hospital.
They moved her out of ICU - they had no beds so she stayed there longer than she needed to. Not that she minded not having to share a room. She has no tolerance for anything - so hearing other people coughing badly, etc. really bothers her. Her roommate went home today, so when we left she didn't have a roommate. Her room is SO tiny. Those nurses have to have good balance to squeeze through small spaces and climb over IV's without catching on them.
She's been angry the last couple days. I think that might be because she is becoming more aware. A lot of the time, she doesn't realize she is in a hospital. And she keeps asking for cigarettes. I was hoping since she hadn't smoked in 12 days so far, she might have finished the nicotine withdrawal and maybe wouldn't need them as much, but the habit is still going strong. She is angry that we won't get her any cigarettes and doesn't believe us that smoking is not allowed. It's like we are fighting with her all day long about everything. Her memory is poor, so when she can't think of the words or uses the wrong words and we don't know what she wants, she gets pissed. Exhausting.
One of her main problems now is that she has hardly eaten. And she was extremely thin to begin with. She gets mad when we try to get her to eat more. I asked the nurse to try to get her to eat and she did eat for the nurse... For the most part, she has been cooperative for the nurses. Even the few foods she usually likes don't taste right to her, so she doesn't want to eat them.
(((((((TOL)))))))
-
(((Chris))) So much to deal with - what do they say about her anger and confusion?
-
Chris thanks for letting us know, was wondering what was going on with mom....
I only like soup when I am sick....
HATE the cold under 72 is cold for me....I shouldn't be living in the north.
Linda....so sorry you are still sick...feel better...
Shiela, it makes you feel so much better when you lose weight....congrats...
Granny, how is it on the others side of the bridge....
My new favorite delight, white pizza!!! (sorry shiela)
829am, and on early (715 to try to gett hours at Macy's, they are not cooperating)
-
I agree, I like 72.
I hope your mother starts to cooperate with you when it comes to eating. It will be tough when you take her home if she doesn't.
-
Same S**T different day
To all my sick friends and their families...hugs
Raining....dark..a miserable day.....
At least we have heat and hot water.......
I have heartburn...I should go out and get that 14 day treatment with Prilozec (sp)
Tomorrow MH again........
-
I finally got organized and switched my PCP closer to home. Faxed all my doctors to send them complete medical records. I hated to loose them but I hate more the commute.
-
I didn't realize this at first - you should take Prilosec a half hour (an hour?) before eating in the morning. Prilosec worked the first time I took it, but didn't the next time I had a problem with reflux and I found out later that you are supposed to wait before you eat. So I think that's why it didn't work for me the 2nd time. In the meantime, I had switched to Zantac and it helped - but it didn't always work 100%. Zantac (H2 blocker)advertises that it relieves and prevents whereas Prilosec (proton pump inhibitor) just prevents. Just in case you didn't already know all this and wanted something that might work right away while you wait for the Prilosec to start preventing.
So I'm not at the hospital right now because my mother pulled out her catheter overnight and my father said they were going to check to see what's going on with her bladder (ultrasound maybe?) and then they might re-catheterize her. if they sedate her for that, there would be no sense in my being there (when I could be home cleaning my toilets - yay) So....waiting to see what happens with that.
In the meantime, the lady in the next bed with the nasty cough went home (by ambulance so I'm guessing rehab or nursing home) and now there is a hard of hearing lady who seems to think she needs to talk really loudly in the next bed. The fun is never ending.

Deb...You did the right thing.....it will be easier to get to DR who is local.............
Chris......The last time DR recommended this 14 day treatment was about 2 years ago.....and yes I do take it first thing in the morning and wait half an hour or more to have coffee..........
It's not a severe problem...usually it happens when I'm irritated and I am.....
You are describing the same symptoms as my mother had........in 1995....went to the hospital completely normal and lost it there...pulling everything trying to jump over the bed rail........
They even called a MH DR.....but again she had different illness and went to the brain............
I hope they get to the bottom of this........
RayRay.......I guess no hope left for me for a warm place,,,,,,,
Sandy.....Thanks hopefully Hawaii will be here by 2015......I can't wait.........
Sorry I'm little cranky and everything is bothering me...........&*(%^&^%
Hugs to my sisters...♥

Sandy.....i thought you were talking about the TV show....hahahahahaha...sorry
I just read the FB....I got it your voice is coming back...........
