Sandy....What do you think about the winner in Survivor?
It's raining all day and windy...we lost cable right around 8:15
Came back around 9...and Survivor was about 45 minutes late so everything worked out fine.........
I even caught The President's interfaith memorial speech........
-
It's so hard to see all of the coverage about Friday's tragedy.

Always nice to have wild weather for the final days of construction and move-in. As long as our power stays on......
Nice to see everyone's updates - crazy busy overwhelmed right now, so sorry not to be participating.

Can't wait until things settle enough for you to sit a spell, Diane.

Called the Superintendent of my grand children's school district and asked them what are they going to do to make our HS safer. There are 2 doors always open, and they told me even though there is someone to sign you in, now they have installed video camera's at the entrance, and a buzzer system which they did not have before. All this was installed on Saturday and Sunday. If they shoot through the doors, nothing will stop them, but at least now the can't walk right in.
Entirely too many places to get guns. No one needs an an assault weapon to shoot a deer...hugs ladies, and prayers for the suffering on this dat. -
Out schools all have buzzers, or you can't get in. Thank God. The news is just so sad. My heart breaks for the families.
-
They had buzzers at the school and he broke the window...
Ducky...@ UD you have to sign in after they let you in.....
Sandy

At our elementary and middle school which is the Springfield School district you get buzzed in, and you have to sign, and get a name tag before entering the main area. However the HS had 2 doors always open in the main entrance. When I called the Superintendent today he said they are presently installing locks on those doors, and buzzers for entrance, plus video cameras aimed right on the entrances. I thanked them, and feel better now
I do believe if freaks want to do harm, and are twisted enough they will find a way. God help us all2/15/2011, IDC, 1cm, Grade 1, 0/10 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- -
My sons high school did a reverse 911 call tonight to inform us that no one will be allowed into the school without an ID, along with signing in. Also, they will now have security officers at all doors. Such a sad world we live in.
-
A very sad world indeed. I know I'm "old" but we used to ride our bikes all over town, go anywhere we wanted and were mostly safe. I know this sounds terrible, but often when a photo of the shooter is shown, they look like the kind of kid that would have been picked on. Life was better when schools, coaches and other parents also provided guidance and discipline. I would never have been teaching my compromised child how to use weapons, that's for sure. ***Should have said were allowed to provide....

Why the guns weren't locked in a safe place?
Sorry...not blaiming the mother but she knew her son's illness.....why guns in the house why??????????????
hi Diane
(((TOL)))

All of the 18 high schools in our high school district (DH works there and gave me this info) have at least one armed campus police office on campus during school hours. A shooter could still do lots of damage as the campuses are spread out.
-
the mother was a survivalist and thought the world was going to end next week, was a gun enthusisist (sp) they are saying he had aspergers, I know kids with that and they have no social skills, but would never say violent...
The school districts here you have to be buzzed in...

Deb, Thanks, I needed a good laugh. Also it reminded me of a Christmas when I worked for thr State Board of Pharmacies. We tested and licensed condom for sale in this state. The first colored condoms had just come in for testing. Part of the testing involved checking the breaking point by inflating them. We made some very interesting decorations that year.

{{{Sheila}}}
Good luck on your chemo, Sandy. I haven't had Panera since I was in Omaha 8 years ago. They opened one here a couple years ago, but it is off my beaten path. I remember it was very good.
Linda, I think I figured out how things go off "my favorites" or at least in my case. When I finish reading a page, or posting, I usually hit the "Back to top" button. I think on occasion, I have hit "Remove from My Favorite Topics" in my haste.
