Hi Linda's friend Margarita..Welcome to the group

Hi folks! I find threads dropping on and off my Favorites from time to time too, and it's generally because I've accidentally added or deleted the thread by clicking somewhere in the blank space beside the link - the whole area is "live" and can trigger the change.
Thanks for mentioning this...um...feature. We'll see if the tech folks can tighten up the live link area next time they do an update.

How are her children doing Linda?
-
They are doing OK. They are with her sister. She has 8 kids now..... We just had a family party last weekend and we all gave gifts to her to put under the tree. There no way she could have afforded to do this so we all chipped in. I hope they have a good Christmas. They miss her terribly, as i do!♥

That was so nice of you all to help her sister out. It takes a village... they are fortunate to be in your village. ♥

Hi Ladies..........up early this morning, much to do..........decided to use my computer instead of my IPAD to send a Merry Christmas message...............my first question is "what the hell is Merry about it"..........it is a well known fact I hate the holidays.........any holiday.........the only one I like is Memorial Day, cause that is when I am at my shore house..............
I'm just getting too old for all this shit....I have been doing xmas eve for the past 55 years, and each year I have eliminated something........this year it was the tree................I can't carry that friggin 7 ft. thing in the house and try to put it up..........usually one of the kids does it, well this year no one did, so I said "screw it"................so my tree is a little ceramic Santa Claus sitting on my very wide window sill in the living room............hey quiet.......it lights up..............and standing right next to it is one of the "corner kids" with his head down and leaning on the sill crying, cause he has no tree.....................I told my daughter.............if one person says "OMG, no tree, I will pick up the ceramic Santa Claus, smash them over the head with it, and wipe up the blood with the clothes of the crying corner kid.
It has been one lousy last month of the year, and I can't wait for it to end.......ok hold on, just realized I turned my car on to get the "frost" off my windshield, and it is still running................would have been cheaper to buy fluid, considering I get 10 miles to the gallon with gas.................
ok, I'm back................I now have 1/2 a tank of gas................so let me get on with my xmas story.............now where was I..................oh yea 35 people coming tonight, much much food, and most of the ones coming all think they are nicer then the one next to them.............my kids get along great in a crisis, but during the down time, they are pains in the ass......................I always said...........if this is what brothers and sisters are like, I'm glad I was an only child.................
No gifts.......checks all around..............except my married grandchildren, and my kids..........usually they got $100 gift card to a nice restaurant.........this year they got a gift card to their favorite Italian Homemade Pasta store.................better then a high priced meal plus the tip.................anyway, they go out enough, this is something they[ can do at home as a family, and it will go a lot further, and be a lot less expensive...............
Just hope the night goes smoothly, that is all I ask.................oh well I will say Merry Christmas to some of my favorite people...........you all...................this is a judgement free zone, where we can bitch, complain, and rant, and no one gets mad at us for doing it, and no one ever says..........................Snap out of it.......................we get our pity parties as needed, but then we ban together as all good friends do.
I love all of you, and could not have made it this far without you.........when everyone else forgot what this journey has been like.......I always had a soft place to lay my head in you my dear friends..........I wish health and happiness for all of you, and on a good day...............maybe a lottery win..................lol hugs.

Good luck with the big group, Ducky.
New DIL has put such a damper on my life that DH bought tickets to the Russian Ballet Nutcracker for this afternoon to cheer me up. We will then go out for Basque tonight and to my mom's tomorrow. House has been decorated up, but no parties or dinners here this year. Oh, Well.
-
-
I hope everyone behaves themselves tonight, Ducky. Personally, I would hope someone would say OMG no tree so I could lament about how no one put it up for me this year... Duh.
Are you doing all the cooking for 35 people?
We usually put up a tree for DH's parents (and wonder why none of his siblings ever do it...), but this year we didn't do it because they have fleas in their basement - where the tree is-didn't want to bring fleas upstairs. They needed to call Orkin or someone to try to get rid of the fleas, but they didn't... so, the tree didn't go up. She bought a little tree for an end table.
Have a great time at the Nutcracker, Meece. Maybe you can have an impromptu gathering at your house later in the week?
Apple pie is in the oven. Need to get that turkey going...decided to do the pumpkin pies tomorrow morning... I don't know why I am having so much trouble cooking things- just had to put foil over the pie to keep the crumb topping from burning - last time it burned. Recipe says to cover it after 40 min - I just covered it after 20 because it looked like if I let it go longer, it would start to burn. What is up with that? And I used an oven thermometer and the oven isn't off by much. Guess it's just Murphy screwing up everything I do. Sigh.

Lol......people bring stuff, but the majority is my job...................just cut 6 heads of romaine, made a shit load of dressing..............got a news flash from my daughter.......this is what it said..................NEWS FLASH , HAVE NO BROWNIE MIX.................she was doing that...........I wrote back..................NEWS FLASH DID YOU EVER HEAR OF THE SUPERMARKET................then said.............I have brownie mix.........I'll do it...........guess I can't bitch she came on Saturday, and straightened the house to her perfectionist liking, brought all the paper stuff, got all the heavy things I can't get from the "put this shit away till next year cabinet"...................and set up the dining room table...................so doing the brownies was a lot easier then all that shit................
I have the eggplant parm in the oven now, the RB gravy made, onion dip, done, shrimp cooked, and all the sauces made for the shrimp.........................I'm doing ok, with my 3 tylenol arthritis med, and sitting down in between while blasting Phantom of the Opera on my Bose instead of frigging xmas music...................
Back to work.........love you guys.

love hearing from you Ducky....eggplant parm.....you are too funny, missed you!!

Merry Christmas to all my "sisters" and may the New Year bring health and happiness
-
Hi to my friends here,
Just want to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It's been too busy here and I've not checked in for awhile.
My prayers are for healing and love and hope for all.
LoveJoan

Ducky, you are too funny.
Enjoy Christmas dinner at your Aunt's and Uncles, Deb.
Merry Christmas! Back from church and cleaned up rest of mess from dinner. Had in-laws over to share my attempt at Swedish meatballs. I think they were just glad to be invited - didn't matter how the food was. Then we shared videos of DD's band show and DS's band show and DS's concert last week that FIL missed because he was in the hospital. So now they are all caught up - lol.
Oh - and I did not just sit on my butt (what I do best) and sing - I helped usher. I don't know how to ush - or at least I didn't know the specifics - like when exactly to go up and back, etc. You'd think I'd never been to church before. Duh. But I did it. Phew. DD played her trumpet, DS acolyted, DH communion assisted and I ushed. It was a nice candlelight service. Not as many people as there used to be. Our church is shrinking(a lot). We lost some people when our long-time pastor retired and we went through several pastors before this one. Some people are retiring and moving away. And sadly, others are dying. I don't know what will happen to this church.
Well - have some presents to wrap...
