Thinking Out Loud.....

Nope, I still have not looked for shoes and a pocket book and DH needs shoes also. Probably this weekend.

I now have a little more faith in the future. DD lost a classmate earlier this week. She wasn't close to him, but was friendly with him and had been in classes with him since 3rd grade. He died when the car he was working on came off the jacks and fell on him. Tragic. It happened Sunday and his parents made the decision to take him off life support on Monday. Yesterday, Tuesday, his classmates organized a vigil, purchased candles and sold them - first for $3 a piece, then for $5. Many people contributed more. A few hundred classmates, friends, faculty and staff went to the vigil. In a matter of hours, they raised ~ $2300 for the family. This was our class of 2012. These kids are going to go out into the world and do good things. I now have a little more faith in the future.
This also speaks to the character of the boy who died. That so many mobilized and were united to accomplish something on his behalf in such a short period of time shows what an impact he had on the lives of so many. Everyone loved him. I never met him, but knew of him because of all the times over the years DD would mention his name when she would tell me about things that happened in school. I was under the impression that he was quite a character. Last night I saw in DD's yearbook that he was voted class clown. He will be missed.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done in this world. I hope these kids continue to mobilize to do the work that needs to be done in this world as they did yesterday.
RIP, SC.

It does give you hope that there are young people out there who can put their priorities in prospective.

RPOC is 1 hour away

Sorry to hear of the sad news, Chris. But you are right, you got to see the potential of your young.
Sandy - drink up and stay cool. Hope it isn't too difficult for you.
Hi Linda, Deb, Meece, Chabba - it's a beautiful day.
Sheila, so glady you are in a happy place. I think I can see you on the lanai from here sipping your drink
Have a wonderful time - these will be beautiful memories for you.
I am off to the cabin in a few hours. We have a realtor coming to look at our house (city house) so we can decide if we are really ready to sell. The market in our neighborhood and in our price range seems to be greatly improved.
There will be 14 people staying in my cabin tomorrow night - we are all going to the Three Dog Night concert at the new amphitheater at the winery. DH is wearing a tie dye shirt and acid wash bell bottoms, DD is wearing a fringe vest and short shorts. I am wearing a turquoise caftan sort of top with white jeans and feather earrings. All the families going are dressing for the era and it seems to be becoming competitive. No plans to up my game though because once I find something that fits, nothing can get me to change
Have a great weekend all~
-
diane....three dog night, yea!!!!
Shiela so happy you found something you are comfortable to wear....have fun and can't wait to see the pix
and feeling better, chemo went fine....2 weeks on a week off...have to go to the drs. next week...drinking...
-
Diane! I'm impressed. You can wear white jeans! lol Have a great time!
Hope everyone gets through these storms unscathed. Did it hit 98 at your place today, Sandy? Glad you're feeling better. Keep those fluids going.
Looking forward to seeing pix and hearing all about the wedding, Sheila!
Think I should go take my hanging plants down...
-
Such a tragic accident, so sad.
Sandy***fluids*fluids*fluids*
I took my last Arimidex this morning, I am done with this crap. Still have to take my thyroid and cholestoral meds though. Should I still take OTC Calcium and Vit D??
I figured once I stopped taking the bone sucking strength/muscle/joint pain Arimidex I don't have to add more pills.
-
HI SHEILA!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad RPOC is 1 hour away! SO good to hear from you!
Yay DEb!
Hope you are drinking Sandy.
Sounds like a blast Diane, post pics!
Got my new car today, gotta get use to it. I keep trying to start it with a key, but they don;t use keys anymore.
Hope everyoone is doing well.
-
lol - no key. That would drive me crazy, being the control freak that I am (and distrustful of technology...)
Congrats on being done with the Arimidex, Deb! I hope all your aches and pains go away fast now that you're done. Unless your vit D is naturally high, I would still take it. A lot of people just don't get enough vit D. Calcium - not sure. There was that recent article that said something about calcium supplements possibly being associated with increase risk of heart attack. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/HeartHealth/calcium-supplements-linked-heart-attack-risk/story?id=16413252
-
Did you hear about some high school student who developed an AP to diagnose Breast Cancer with 99% accuracy? Can't believe it would really work but it's inspiring that a 17 year old would put such effort into it.
-
I read that article and turned to my son who was on the computer behind me and asked him what HE was doing...watching YouTube videos and playing video games... sigh. He'll be going to camp next week to take a Java class - maybe he'll be inspired to do something useful with the computer other than playing games...
-
Wow! I want to read that article. I'll try google!
-
-
Sandy ((hugs)) Penny
-
What an amazing kid and article! I hope she finds the cure! I showed the link to my boys and told them maybe they should play less video games and do something else. They stared at me like I was an idiot!
Hi Penny!
Drink Sandy!
-
Yes, I did hear something about that Meece.
DH saw an Orthopedic Surgeon and needs both knees replaced, has arthritis in left hip, so that may have to be done sometime. Doctor is going to give him cortozone shots so we can make it through the UK visit.
He has been having problems with his knees for years, now he is in so much pain when he walks he finally gave in and ask me to make an appointment.
-
Deb so sorry for DH, but thank goodness for tehnology.., deb don't know anything about the medication but hope it isn't needed anymore...
Linda, pix of the car plz...i
Chris that would be my kids, who with a high school diploma sit on the couch or his room every day and night not going out unless they have someplace to do, I think they are going to DorneyPark amusement park with the siblings, grandchildren(not me) on friday..
shiela hope you are having a good time, you are missed....
thanks penny got a fan, curosity of someone at macy's that I adore, and got a cooler in my room so I am not asking the twins to get me something to drink, which most of the time they reply with a "no"....was feeling better today, yesterday was horrible, it was the 2 day after the chemo time, but wore out after a couple of hours....spend so much time in my room, feels like it is winter time.....tomorrow, hopefully will be better, need some food in the house, but have to rememeber to stop pushing myself....I adore you all, have a good night!!
-
Sandy I sure hope you feel better tomorrow. That just sucks to feel so bad.
I hope the knee replacement does him wonders. Several of my neighbors have had knee/hip replacements and feel so better after!
-
I hope and pray he has no complications from the surgerys, they will be done after the wedding of course. Doc will give him cortisone shots before we leave.
-
♥SANDY♥
-
Sandy - so sorry you were feeling so sick. Hope you feel a lot better tomorrow!
Deb - sorry to hear DH needs new knees. Keep us posted when the time comes - hopefully, in the meantime, the cortisone relieves him of all his pain.
