I'm here.  Keeping my complaining fingers quiet.

Ugly day is right.  Melted at church today.  The one time I didn't have a hair tie in my purse...

Beautiful pix, Sheila.  I can't see one of them (a couple posts back).  Was it as much paradise as it looks?

Went to dinner to celebrate SIL's 10th wedding anniversary.  I had 2 skinny margaritas - which I now think was stupid.  I probably paid twice as much and had as many calories if I had had a regular one.  Duh.  But they were good.

Complain away! Thats what we're here for!

I don't like the Skinny Girl margaritas.  When I bought a bottle, I added tequilla to it.  Next time I just made real margaritas and they are much better!

Bought our shoes today at DSW in Nashua, my shoes almost match a small pocket book I already had.  All I have to do now is adjust the straps on my dress and buy a fat sucker inner. LOL

I put a pic on FB of my shoes and pocket book and let me know if the match is close enough.

Pretty shoes.  I love it when you go shopping for something and find the perfect thing to match something you already have.

I just wanted to complain about my new cell phone.  It's a basic phone with keyboard for texting - it's the newer version of the phone I already had.  I liked my old phone.  Replaced it because it was getting old and starting to get flaky - everyone else's phones were crapping out, so I got my upgrade when they did.    this new one is NOT an improvement.  First - it slides out the opposite way.  the menus are different. My pictures that were saved on a tiny sd card are now in a random order so I will never find them - I might as well take them off the card.  AND there isn't a slot on the side of the phone for the card.  You have to take the back off the phone to get at the card - wth?  Nothing like going backwards with design.  There are only a couple choices for wallpaper and I don't like them.  Too busy - hard to see little icons - like the little bell with a line through it reminding me I turned the ringer off.  It blends in with the background so I might not notice it - not helpful.  The text message space is smaller so you see less of the message at once.  And my ringtone is gone.  Stupid phone.    Why is everything crap?

I know I'm not supposed to sweat the small stuff, but it's the small stuff that drives me the most crazy.

One more week of summer vaca and band camp starts for DS.  Then the next week DD goes to preseason.  Then school starts.  Boy, this summer is going by fast.

Hope your tummy is feeling better, Sheila.

I could go for some DQ...have some for me, Sandy!

My phone is very basic - no data.  Wish I could go online, I'd be on it all the time, but it's too expensive.  So just the keyboard so my kids can text me and tell me what they are doing.  I guess I'll get used to it, but some of the backwards changes will continue to annoy the you-know-what out of me.

I turned off the a/c in the one room that has it (besides the basement that is cold just with the dehumidfier) and now I'm hot.  This room gets so hot.  Hope you kept your a/c on, Sheila.

DD had her 2nd exam today.  She didn't do well on the first.  It sounds like she panicked and her mind went blank.  She texted me and I ran to my phone to see how she did today.  I read, "I don't think I did..." and I say, "Awwww,"  before I finished reading it to see she had said, "I don't think I did too badly."  Then I said, "Oh good!"  I suspect she still didn't do that well, but hopefully better than last time.  And now she might have more confidence that she isn't going to totally blank and next time she'll do even better.  But she still needs to learn how to study. She asked me to quiz her last night - so first I had to learn what she was supposed to be learning.  She had this cryptic list of things she had to know and I didn't know what any of it was - so I had to go through her notes to find the answers and ask her questions before I could quiz her.  She kept forgetting some things.  I wished she had come to me sooner.  I could have helped her get that stuff in her head.  And some stuff she had conflicting info on that I had to look up online, but by then it was late and she was tired. So she might have gotten some stuff wrong on the exam because her notes were wrong.  ugh.  Maybe next time...  I don't know what she's going to do in the fall with 4 classes and band and socializing...  oh boy...   ha, ha listen to me... in the fall... I should say in 3 weeks!  help!

I want DQ too!  Wishing for the best results possible, Sandy.

My phone is cool but not expensive.  I pay 25.00 a month for each of our phone with unlimited data, text and only 300 voice minutes.  Nobody uses vomore so it's not a voice anymore so its not a problem.

Just bought my son an old lady car.  He's psyched to have wheels and I'm happy to see him leave ;)  It's a 2000 mercury grand marquis with 45 k on it.  It's a tank so hopefully he will be safe!

I don't think Kids know how to study anymore, they need to figure out how to study on their phones or ipods.

On behalf of Sheila, answer to earlier question about RPOC, is Rotten Piece of Crap (right?).    Sorry we didn't get to see what he looks like after life in the septic tank at Linda's.  Sheila, you look absolutely beautiful - so happy for you and your lovely daughter.

Sandy, thinking of you and wishing you the best possible results as well as the DQ Blizzard of your dreams.  For me, it's Butterfinger.

Deb - it really is getting close!  How exciting.  As we get ready to sell our home, I have been cleaning closets.  Today, after almost four years, I finally threw out the shoes from DS's wedding - the heals got scraped badly in the gravel walk to the pond.  Saved the purse and dress though.  Time to get your Spanx.

Chabba - helluva hot weekend, ha?  When are you coming to the "other side"?

Meece - did all your tests come out ok?

Linda - we bought our DS a tank in high school too.  He told us recently that he "would give anything" to find that thing for posterity.  DH has the VIN number so maybe someday.

Chris - the trainer got married and so I have been on my own again.  Leaving for a nice walk now since temps are down finally.

Wahine - I have met you on another link as well -l welcome to the best link on the boards.

Lot of work to get a house in perfect shape for selling!!!  I'm tired!

Sandy - hope you get DQ soon!  And I hope the scans tell a different story than the TMs.  Keep us posted.  ((((((Sandy)))))) ♥

Diane-so hard to keep exercising in the heat.  Hope you had a nice walk.  Is your trainer on honeymoon or did he/she quit? I hope you can work with him/her again soon.

You're selling your house?  Is this the one you did all that work on?

Linda- glad to hear DS is excited about his "old lady car" lol.  We got a new car for DD to drive all over the freaking place for school this year.  I'm wondering if it will end up being a bad idea that we did that - it probably won't get much use next year if she lives on campus - but she can have it again the next year when she's a junior(assuming she makes it that far... hopefully she will get her act together.)  Subaru Impreza - zippy little thing (all wheel drive and 36 mpg hwy-of course she goes backroads...)- got bells and whistles we hadn't planned on(like bluetooth she doesn't know how to use-got a new phone- doesn't know how to sync it) -Being July, we kind of had to take what they had.  She's already put 500 miles on it schlepping to class this summer.  She's going to put a lot of miles on that thing this year.  It's costing us more for her to commute than if she lived on campus.  Sucks.

cellphone - we considered getting a plan where we could go online, but DD said that she always has a signal when other people don't, so we stayed with Verizon and the basic phones.  Everything is too expensive.

studying - they need to teach classes where kids can study on their phones and ipods and using video games...  DS will be a junior this year - important year.  I keep telling him he HAS to do well this year.  I tried to get him to practice trying to do well last year - didn't work.  I'm trying to get him to view his studying as though it's a game where he has to "learn all the rules."  Not sure he's going to do it.

Hope taxotere wipes them all out!  Hope your people find you a great place.  Maybe near a busline so the boys can get to work?  DH grew up down the street from the bus which was handy when there were more drivers than cars.

Life is one big catch-22.  Can't get a job without experience/can't get experience without a job.  Can't get a car without money - can't get to a job to earn money without a car!

Speaking of cars, I need to take ours back to Town Fair - the left front tire keeps losing air.  Last time they said the rim was rusty so they cleaned it off.  I think they rotated the tires and now the tire that's on that rim now is leaking.  Grrrr.  stupid cars.

So - remember how I said I don't like the wallpaper on my phone? It's so busy I can't see the inforamation on the screen?   Last night when I went for my run, I had trouble seeing the time on my phone (to know how pathetically slowly I was running) because of the busy wallpaper.  So, this morning, I took a picture of my kitchen table top and set that picture as my wallpaper so I'd have a dark enough background for the time to show up against so I can read it.  How pathetic is that?

But I did figure out how to make the clear key not go into the calling by voice command menu.  I did NOT want something in my purse pressing the clear key allowing me to call the next person whose name I said.  I purse-dialed my husband once when he was sitting next to me in the car.  His phone started ringing so I looked to see who it was and it was ME!  Only thing I can think of was that I had the phone set to bluetooth in case I used the bluetooth earpiece and something must have activated the voice dialing feature and I must have said his name - or something.  So between that and bluetooth sucking my battery dry, I never used bluetooth or that earpiece I could never figure out again.  Guess I'm just getting too old to figure out today's technology.  I get pissed and demand that my son tell me how to do whatever it is I'm trying to do since somehow these kids can figure everything out.

I wonder how many other settings I need to change to make sure I don't unknowingly call people.

chris, you remind me of the time my SIL's purse called me. She and DB were grocery shopping and her phone somehow activated the speed dial for my number. When I answered all I could hear was the two of them discussing whether they should buy the steak or the pork chops for dinner.  Called her that evening and asked which they bought.  Teased her a bit before telling her how I knew.

Oh Sandy, sorry for the news.  I hope that taxotere wipes out progression as well as it does hair.

To explain about moving.  Four years ago we moved into a brand new home.  Within six months the floors were all cracked and there was some sinking on the main floor.  Builder was big jerk and is now living in the septic tank at Linda's.  Spent two years suing him - he was so stupid, he could have fixed it all for less than half of what he had to pay us plus legal fees, our moving fees, etc.  We had to move out of our home for the repairs to be done.  They tore out the entire first floor and most of the lower level, the entry, and the roof.  Only our bedrooms were not impacted.  We lived in a nasty, all-black interior rental for about 4 months and came home in December.  Then we bought the cabin, which we use a lot.  We could never find the love for this house after all that happened - as beautiful and well built as it now is, I have never gotten over what we went through here.  My cancer happened in the middle of all the lawsuit stuff.  We also realize we really dont need a house of this size and could happily downsize both in space and in spending.  So, since the market has really picked up, we have decided it is as good a time as any to sell this behemoth and find something much smaller. It really is beautiful, but we just aren't feeling it.

Trainer is back today.  Yesterday while tearing through every closet in the house, I managed to lodge my big toe under the door and tear up some of the nail.  It is hurting, but will be fine.  That's my excuse this week for not working out too hard :)

Also decided I don't need my car anymore.  Again, I am feeling just that it is unnecessary plus the whole idea of the convertible was for me to cross off a bucket list item and now I have.  I'll get a little subaru or audi that can get over the mountain pass when bad weather comes.  In case you are wondering, nothing has really changed for us financially, we are just realizing that we could live more freely without so much.  We've thought about it long enough that I'm sure it's not a phase!

Ok, the new groom is yelling at me to get my shoes on and I am ignoring him. I'm sure you saw his picture on my FB.  He's a cutie patootie.

Sheila - you have most definitely lost weight - you look fantastic.

Chabba - grey day today, nice cooling off. DS and DIL let me babysit at their sauna the other night - it was brutal.  Hot times, summer in the city but not fun.

Deb - I couldn't live without spanx for special events.

Linda - could you skinny dip at the Cape for me?  So jealous!

Diane, 35 yrs or so ago BIL, DH and I found a comfortable way to survive a prolonged heat spell. BIL had lots of windows and skylights and it got hotter than it was outside.  Our older two story also had lots of windows and got unbearable but did have an unfinished basement that stayed fairly comfortable.  BIL had a hot tub that he filled with cold water.  After work we'ld pick up fast food for supper, meet at his house and spend most of the evening in the cool tub, mostly with the jets on. About 10 we would all go back to our house, spread a couple of mattresses on the basement floor so we could sleep.
