Thinking Out Loud.....

We get up just before 5 and I am out the door by 7. Without kids at home, I can get to sleep whenever I feel like it in most cases.
You have to have your water delivered for pools? We have a pond and change out about 1 k gallons each week. We are on a flat rate meter for now so it doesn't affect our bill. The new pond will be larger and unfortunatelythey are talking about putting us on usage meters. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Having beautiful days of mid 80s weather. We would like a bit of rain.
-
Oh no - Linda. I hope some of that water is rainwater... Unless the leak is obvious - how do you find it? ((((((Linda))))))
Sorry about all the problems with the VA, ((((((Deb)))))))
-
Hi Meece.
My kids keep me up too. I often get sleepy when they are still up and then get a second wind so that I'm not sleepy when I can go to bed. Then I stay awake watching a recorded tv show. I SHOULD just try to go to sleep even though I don't feel sleepy, but I'm stupid and often stay up too late. And I wonder why I'm a zombie.
-
Hi, Chris. When DH and I stay up and watch TV in the family room I will fall asleep and then walking back to the bedroom wakes me up enough to make it difficult to go back to sleep. So when I can, I just head to bed to watch tv.
-
I fall asleep watching tv at night as well, so started watching in bed. I am such a light sleeper that when DH turns the tv off, I wake up. He says sometimes I am sleeping with a death grip on the remote.....
Came back from the cabin yesterday, 82 degrees - just perfect. DH made dinner - veggie burgers and salad. I looked at the salad and had to ask where he came up with it. It had cucumbers, avocado, raspberries, honeydew, radishes and garbanzo beans and no dressing. He said he decided to pretend he was on Chopped and had been given the basket of ingredients. It was a weird salad but so nice that he did it.
Back east, you have what we called steak tips or sirloin tips. That is not a cut we can find here but really craving those. My father-in-law brought me lots of haddock for which I am very grateful. Miss that too.
-
lol - maybe I'll warn my kids that they'd better enjoy the haddock now because later if they move to the west coast they won't be able to get any! They'll probably say they want to move to the west coast now just to get away from the fish I've been trying to feed them lately.
-
chris...you can make fish for me every single night
Good Afternoon......12:25 pm
(((TOL)))
-
I'll have the fish too! No haddock or steak tips on the west coast? What do you eat??
I live in the sticks, Meece. I have a well. It takes forever to fill a pool with a well. The well runs dry then you have to wait several hours for the water to come back.
Never complain when DH makes anything, it's one less thing you have to make. My DH couldn't make a salad!
Hope DD is feeling better, Chris.
-
I think it's crazy we don't have those things. They try to sell me on cod, which is fine, but it's not haddock. I wish I could understand why we can't have steak tips. Next time I am there I am going to find me a butcher who can tell me where they are located and then instruct butcher here.
There was so much of his special salad left, that I very thoughtfully drove it to his office for his lunch.
-
My girlfriend came up to the cabin after the rest of the family went home - we drove all around with the top down pretending we were Thelma and Louise, but without the cliff.
-
Sounds like fun! LOL on bringing the salad to work. Very thoughtful of you!
BTW, I LOVE COD, more than haddock!
-
Wish had a friend who would go fishing with me.......
I lost my pureness again. Tomorrow i'll be as pure as possible.
(((TOL)))

A friend of mine from the So, what's for dinner forum just got results from her PET Scan. Her CA 27-29 was elevated. So her doctor ordered a PET scan. She is now Stage IV. I met Michelle several times on little get togethers, Pickity Place and the Glenview right here in my home town.
She writes:
My dear sisters - I know you are all waiting to hear from me. I did get the news...it's bad news all the way around. I have mets to both lungs, some additional nodes (both axilla, supraclavicular and mediastinal), and quite likely in the liver.
FUCKING CANCER!!!
-
Many restaurants around here serve beef tips and egg noodles. They're dellish! I usually buy my tenderloin whole and the end of the tenderloin is the tips. I save the ips for using in fondue and for stews and such. Very tender and tasty.
-
Haddock, I am not sure about, but I love cod. It is a very mild white fish. We aren't too far from having the same sort of foods.
-
We will be opening up the pool probably next week...........It takes a lot of water, but i have a "well" so, its not too bad......we just have to top it off...................it holds 28,000 gallons of water...it is 22x42. and inground.......so it is rather large...........I had a leak near the skimmer last year, and it was fixed without a problem, but they can be a headache............people think pools are all fun.........they can also be a pain in the ass............mine requires minimal work since I have all the conveniences that make "pool life" easier, but they still require care................and when yo don't live where your pool is year round, they can be worrisome too..........
Gorgeous here today, and for the next few.............finally..........hugs ladies.

I was in the middle of writing when you posted, Deb. I didn't mean to seem callous in ignoring the news. Then when I was scanning back up I read your last paragraph first. I was in disbelief thinking you were writing your own words. I am so sorry your friend is dealing with this blow. ((Deb & Michelle)
-
yea, me too Sheila! You crack me up!
So sorry Deb. That totally sucks!
Hi Meece! Haddock is very similar to cod. Both are yummy! -
Not pure here either.
((((((Deb & Michelle))))))
-
Sorry Deb....what is her screen name?
Tomorrow i will treat myself with seafood...I'm having a senior moment can't remember the name of the shell fish..the large round shape...they are charging almost $15 a pound...and I will get some and some other fish.
We have a big fish market on Main street...they have all types of fresh fish....now I'm excited
-
I remembered the name....SCALLOPS
-
Mmmm, love to put scallops on a rosemary skewer and baste them with garlic butter on the grill.
-
Meece and Sheila - I love the big sea scallops. I do them in a saute pan with a bit of olive oil - fast and furious.
Makratz - I'll trade you
I also enjoy cod, often, but still want haddock more.
Meece - I'd have to be buying a whole lot of whole tenderloin to acquire enough tips if using the ends only. I am wondering if they just cut a whole tenderloin into "bites" or "tips".
Deb - So sorry to hear about your friend - effing cancer!
-
I thought steak tips were sirloin tips. Cut up sirloin strips??
-
good Morning TOL
Please explain this sirloin tip thing to me......
-
We were trying to figure out where 'tips' ( a kind of steak) comes from.
Ortho soon, more braces!
-
i'm going swimming......
-
I am confused too. I thought getting steak tips was same as sirloin tips but I need a butcher in MA to tell me this so that they are the same as what I understand from my MA days. YUM.
-
OK...I was at the SM today....I looked the only meat cut I saw was Sirloin tips
I have couple of questions to the Fish Ladies.....
Blue fish very big or medium...What's the difference
Mackerel one is regular which i know...the other one is big and it says Spanish Mackerel.....
I know I can google it but before I do that I need your comments,,,if you know the difference.
Scallops didn't look very healthy...so didn't buy it.
