Thinking Out Loud.....

My DH was in NYC yesterday for business. Thank God he came home last night and did not have to fly in this weather. Scary!!
-
I'm glad your DH is home safe and sound tonight. I've got open house next week. Both kids in the same school - so same night. I don't know whose classes I'll go to. Probably the younger one's- my son's. But I would like to go to my daughter's classes too. Oh well.
I sent my resume to a recruiter at a temp agency. He wants me to come for an interview on Monday. I don't wanna go! I've been home for so long, I'm very rusty - and I wasn't all that good at anything when I worked before. Can't I just continue to hide out in my house trying to avoid the ironing?

Chris, I am with you. I want to get a job but am so rusty I am scared to death to get one! I used to work 10 years ago. I miss it. I just want something part time now. Kudos to you for sending a resume out!! I haven't updated my resume in 10 years and then prior to that, I only worked at one company.
It's tough when both kids are in the same school and the open houses are on the same night. I see a lot of parents who have that problem. I hope you get to do a little of each!
-
Luckily, I had already put a resume together years ago. Otherwise, I wouldn't have remembered half of what I did! I don't even want to say what I did because I'm not sure I could do it now. I haven't worked full time in 14 yrs. And that was at one company. Then I took 6 years off until my son was in 1st grade. Then I worked at a bookstore part time for 3 1/2 years until my daughter was in middle school and I was having trouble getting home in time to pick the kids up from school. And now I haven't worked at all for almost 5 years again. I would have gone back sooner - but the bottom fell out of the economy and then I was diagnosed with bc and then my hair had to grow back in... Now I'm out of excuses - LOL.
-
Good for you and I wish you the best of luck!
Good night all!

Talk about out of work and wanting to get back in. I worked for Raytheon as a secretary for about a dozen engineers then worked in the computer room very out of date now, as a keypunch operator to punch the codes in the cards that would go through the computer, (Univac 2000) to print out programs. There were Fortran and Cobalt programs, never really got the knack in understanding those languages completely, then I got pregs for DD did not work until she was in the 1st grade, I was a school bus driver for a while that I worked at NEBS in Groton, then we moved to North Reading, owned and operated Ryer's Store for over 10 yrs, sold the store, lived for a while in North Reading, worked PT at Cynosure, then moved back to Chelmsford in 2003, was offered the Receptionist position and have been there since. Didn't take me long to learn the computer. Now I live in the house I was brought up in.

That's awesome, Deb!

I studied hard to learn Microsoft Word and Excel I am kind of self taught. A few months ago I did take some free courses the the company offered. I love my job now.
