Thinking Out Loud.....

I remember that day, too.
Out here it was barely sunrise, my son ran in, wole us up and told us what was happening. We turned on the t.v. and only the first tower had been hit. We watched as everything else unfolded.
-
One of the eeriest things I remember about that time, and the days following, is looking to the sky, and not one aircraft, not one contrail. The skies were as they must have looked 110 years ago!
-
It was so quiet here almost scary. Even the mailman was talking with a very low voice.
It was like a ghost city everybody was afraid to drive take public transportation.
We stayed home for few days.
-
Once we unglued ourselves from the TV, we had to go about our daily lives.
-
Exactly...than the plane crushed month later not sure that was going to Dominican Rebuplic.
We were right back again.
I will always remember and respect the people who died and survived and they are sick now
Thanks Meece I needed to talk about it.

Any time.
My son joined the Airforce the following year. Sure made us think about fighting right here on our own land.
-
Will read later, Macy's is calling.....God Bless all on this 911!!

Proud to be an Airforce Mom, two times over. DS#1 joined in 2002, DS #2 in the picture above, entered the Airforce five years ago, August 2005.

I'm proud of all your kids for serving and for each of you for having the strength to handle all the emotions that go along with serving.
I had just put my oldest on the bus for kindergarten and was panicking at home. I thought they might attack the school and all the kids would be gone. Such a sad day.

GOD BLESS ALL OUR CHILDREN
Good Morning and it is beautiful outside weatherwise exactly like it was 9 years ago.
I just watched the mayor Bloomberg and listened National Anthem.
That was enough I get too sad when they are reading the names.
I only watched it the first year.
how is everybody doing?
I know Sandy is working. Deb is climbing. I just had my coffee. How about you Linda?
I'm really craving fish so after my shower I will go out.

Ow, my aching feet. We walked. We camped. It was freezing. We made only $31.43 in selling our cookies and brownies and I think it was one of our kids' mothers who bought the most. Oh well, maybe next year. We had a small turnout, but I don't think it was well advertised.
My daughter kept a tally of how many laps she walked on her cell phone - she counted 72 laps around the track. That would be 18 miles. She was walking most of the time she was up - from 6pm to 2am and then again in the morning from 6:30- 8:30 and does have the blisters on her feet to prove it. Dummy wore her faux Converse sneakers instead of her running shoes. What am I going to do with that kid? I walked at least 9 1/2 miles, so it is possible that she did walk 18. Wow.
We did raise some money going door to door and online. Hopefully if she does it again next year, we will do more earlier and raise more money.

You should all be proud of yourselves! Congrats, job well done!!

LOL - I should have had you PM me your addresses so I could send them to you! My daughter and the rest of her team (except one girl) actually had to leave before the end of the relay to go to marching band rehearsal! Poor thing was limping around the field on her blistered feet. I left all the leftovers in a laundry basket in the band room for her to give to the band. They took it all. And now I'm finding out that she didn't even get a chance to offer it to them. Someone saw my note and announced that they could have it. Bad thing was - half of it was made by her friend and my note said to give her her leftovers. It was up to her whether she wanted to keep any or give any away. These kids don't cease to disappoint...
Was today a beautiful day? I was sleeping.... I walked the zombie shift - 2am-5:30 before I was so tired, I decided to break the rules and take a chance on not having anyone on the track from our team. But, it so happened that my husband, who was with the Scouts who were volunteering, got up to use the porta potty so he walked the 5:30-6:30 hour before getting the girls up. So we were "legal."
I have to admit though, I didn't walk the track for much of the 4-5am hour. I encountered a skunk and got to thinking about how I had left our tent unzipped at the bottom earlier in the night. So I went back to our tents and made sure they were zipped tight. Then I got rid of our trash bag so as not to give a skunk a reason to visit our site. Then when I was heading back to the track, I saw him near the porta potties. What a surprise that would be for someone getting up in the middle of the night. So I stood watch and tried to make my presence known so that the skunk might decide not to stick around. He looked at me a couple times, but didn't seem to be afraid. He went about his business. I hung around keeping an eye on him until he wandered off.

Sandy, I hope the rain has let up so you can do your volunteer work today. It's a bummer when you plan for activities like that and then the weather doesn't cooperate.
Here's a hug so I can absorb some of your anxiety from you ((((((((((((((Sandy))))))))))))))).
