lots of kids in my neighborhood & all the backyards opened into each other. Playing games like 'Red Rover', 'Red Light/Green Light', 'Pom, Pom Pullaway' and other games until it would get too dark to even see and out mothers would make us come inside.

the school lunch because 5 days a week during the school year every meal had a big spoonful of canned peas and carrots.  I think they must have bought out a warehouse of this stuff.  We had to eat every last morsel on our plates and I swore that when I was an adult I would never eat that stuff....and I don't,  I love pea soup but never cooked peas, not even fresh ones...same with carrots...I can eat raw all day long but pick out cooked from stews or soups.

probably the night where I refused to eat my cauliflower and was not allowed to go ice skating in the back yard with my family.  I remember my window in my bedroom looked out at the yard and I watched them all having fun and I was crying my head off.  No idea how old I was but my mother said I was still in a crib.

My mother could never get over how I stuck to my guns, she even came back in and offered for me to eat the one piece she gave me and I still refused.  But, she never made me eat cauliflower again, lol!

I had my boys.  When my oldest was 2 1/2 , my youngest two months and there was a huge storm that came through, there was an electrical fire behind our house, trees were breaking off and snapping all over the place and I actually thought- "I wish there was an adult here to tell me what to do- sh*t- I'm the adult?  Sh*t sh*t sh*t!"  Obviously we are all fine, except the dog who is now permanently afraid of fire.
