baking soda...cancer cure?

I'd like to know the names of the surgeons and oncologists who haven't ever lost a patient.
-
LOL.
-
LJ13- Which part of the medical field do you work in? Tami
-
Treating patients with what is known not to work IS quackery.
Apparently you seem to think that when someone is not believed, this in itself is proof of the fact that they are right. But it is not enough not to be believed; you must actually be right as well.
You happily compare 'mushrooms' to cancer. Yet there is no evidence at all that cancer is a fungus - the fungus candida albicans to be precise - as Simoncini claims. In a study of nearly 20,000 blood samples of cancer patients, only 193 samples had fungus infection, 79% of those being candida albicans; this is less than 1%. The full text is here.
So how can candida albicans be the cause of cancer? It's hardly rocket science to figure out that this is very unlikely.
Please note that nowhere in the study it says that fungus is the cause of cancer. It's not unusual for cancer patients undergoing treatment - especially chemotherapy - to have a fungus infection, due to lower immune function, but even so, the numbers are low.
Also, contrary to what Simoncini claims, research has been done to find out if baking soda is effective against cancer and as it turned out, it isn't.
Complementary therapies can be very helpful in optimizing one's health, which is of great importance especially for cancer patients.
Another important positive factor of CAM is that actively doing something to improve your health and wellbeing not only actually makes you healthier, but it also offers a sense of control, which can considerably decrease feelings of fear and anxiety.
But I really don't understand why you would insist that a treatment which is known not to work is far more superior to any known standard treatment.
-
Beatis, Have you talked to his patients? The proof is in the pudding.
I've heard of two women, who have been helped by his therapy. I am not sure if it helps all cancer. BUT it is my opinion that there is something to baking soda. I would try it before most conventional medicine. People die everyday from side affects of conventional med's. I met a woman today, whose best friend died last summer from breast cancer. After chemo she got an infection from the bc surgery, and because her immune system was destroyed by chemo, she died of the stupid infection.
There are doctors who have said, they don't know much about cancer. My bc surgeon also admitted so, and she is head of cancer research at the Hospital B.C. Research Center. So...doctors guess to what works...such as chemo and radiation. My doctor also said conventional therapy is all they have for now. They wish they could find a cure...they don't have a cure. If they don't have a cure, then what bc women are having to go through to get rid of cancer is not a proven science.
I will not come down on someone like Simoncini, who has seen good results, and who is a pioneer in this area. We need more pioneers. Leave the man a lone!
I do think cancer is complex disease. It could be a fungus...I'm not sure. Think of this...a bad place on a apple is sort of a fungus..when it' cells break a part it spreads and dies.,,,much like cancer. What causes the cells to turn into fungus or cancer is another story. How to treat the cancer is debatable, especially on the alternative boards.
However, everyone on the alternative board is here to share what worked for them. People can take it or leave it. I' know one thing for sure, I've been helped by alternative medicine. I've learned a lot from alternative ladies.
...oh, about the mushrooms....just thought it was interesting that baking soda quickly destroyed a fungus type plant. Yet, it didn't destroy the good grass around it. Just a silly observation...in support of Simoncini baking soda theory.
-
Barry-Just finished my baking soda and vinegar night cap while reading your very well stated response.
Burp!
Ummm that felt good.
-
Beatis, In case you haven't noticed, we have lost too many women on this site just in the last few weeks. They happened to be women who were not open to alternative treatments. Would they have survived longer? Who knows? Would they have had a better quality life for the limited time they had? No one also knows the answer to that question either? Of course, we all are mortal and no one has a date stamped on their feet.
I have a dear friend who is a 12 year bc survivor and she did it totally holistically. Body, mind and spirit. She refused chemo and radiation, having lost a sister to BC many years prior to her own dx. Honey, you can say quack all day long to me, but 12 years speaks to MY heart!
I did the traditional tx, and now with the encouragement and blessing of my onc who happens to be a personal friend, I, too have gone holistic and I feel so much better than I did when taking Femara. For me, I would rather feel great for 5 years, than to feel like an old 90 year old achy bones for 10.
I do believe it is body, mind and spirit. I don't think medicine alone can heal anyone from any "dis" ease.
I would also suggest to check out Donna Hicken's Through Rose Colored Glasses. She is a 3 x survivor who has now gone holistic with the encouragement of the Dr. who treated her lung mets. She is a news anchor for Jacksonville, FL and has raised a lot of money for bc research at the Mayo Clinic in Jax.
Open your mind and see what may be out there, but please don't condemn another's hope.
-
Carol1949,
I don't want to take away anyone's hope and I don't condemn another's hope. But I think it is despicable to prey on desperate people with stupid, useless therapies like Simoncini does. I lost a friend to his therapy who could have lived, for she had early stage breast cancer with a very good prognosis.
Mr Simoncini advises people with perfectly curable, early stage cancers to forgo all conventional treatment and only do baking soda instead. That is downright dangerous and irresponsible. His treatment has nothing to do with complementary medicine or a holistic approach, it is complete and utter nonsense that will help no one.
Barry,
You say that Simoncini has seen excellent results, but no one has ever seen them. I take it therefore that you are referring to his testimonials. However, these can be so easily debunked that it's downright pathetic if it weren't so dangerous for such nonsense to be on the internet for every desperate cancer patient to read and be misguided by.
To be able to cure cancer by something so simple as infusions with baking soda into the tumour would be such an unbelievable breakthrough that there is no way it could be kept quiet and any research would be extremely cheap, for baking soda costs next to nothing (not that Simoncini's treatments are cheap btw). So, if Simoncini can actually do what he claims, where are his publications?? There is nothing, not one iota.
Simoncini is by no means a pioneer, he is just another member of the worldwide culture of acid based quackery. You should also get your facts straight concerning pH balance and cancer. If you want to advise cancer patients you could at least do them the courtesy of knowing what you are talking about.
-
Fair enough, Beatis! I agree, that some people put too much faith in any one thing.
I hope that in any research, people will listen to their heart and trust that the correct information will come to them.
I did, also find an article from the UK, however, where they are finding baking soda helpful in diagnosing cancer with the help of MRI. So, there may be something beneficial about the baking soda in general health. I recalled seeing it several months or perhaps even a year ago. It states something to the effect that the baking soda goes to the cancer and makes the MRI easier to read, much like the glucose goes to the cancer in a PET scan.
There is so much information out there... I just research and follow my heart. Everyone has there own "comfort zone".... and that is OK !!
-
You're right about the MRI. Baking soda is also often used to "clean" the veins in between the different chemo's. It's good and useful for many things, it just doesn't cure cancer.
I don't want to take away anyone's hope and I fully understand how important it is to do the things that make you feel good and that seem best to you, especially for cancer patients.
I walk every day, with my dog, for at least 2 hours, but often more. It calms me, gives me fresh air which I think is very healthy for me, and sunlight = vitamin D, which is also very good. I really think this will help me ward off recurrence and I don't really care whether I'm right or not, it does me good, it can't hurt me and it makes me feel healthy and happy. That is my comfort zone.
But still, cancer really really sucks and the last thing we need is to be made fools of by people who think we will fall for anything no matter what just because we're desperate. We deserve better. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
-
I began this thread right after I listened the interview video of Simoncini. I put it out there because I wanted to know what the alternative bc ladies thought. I wasn't for sure one way or another...just hoped something as simple as baking soda cure be a cure. It has been awhile since posting my question, and I am pretty much at the same place as I was when I first saw his video. I' hope it works. I've read nothing to this point that makes me think he is a quack. His interview was real, and he didn't seem like a meanspirited person. He seems honest, and in my gut, I feel like he's genuine.
Beatis...I never wrote that Simoncini had excellent results. I read from websites (not Simoncini websites) of people who have been helped by his treatment. I said, I also know of two people whom it has helped. Much of what I said was a personal opinion or observations. Again, it is my opinion that there is something miraculous about something as simple as baking soda. The fact that it cleans the veins for a better mri says a lot to me.
Perhaps the drug company doesn't want us to use alternative med's. Where's the money in baking soda or other natural alternative treatments? Simoncini may cost, but the cost is far less than radiation and chemotherapy; it doesn't have side affects.
I don't know if the baking soda will completely kill cancer. I've never tried it. If my cancer returned invasive, I would consider it and other alternative treatments over conventional therapy...although I do believe in cutting out the cancer.
In the end, everyone dx with cancer needs to do their homework and be fully convinced in their mind that what they are doing is right for them.
-
Barry, I can understand you would like something simple as baking soda to cure cancer. I think that's what everybody wants.
I doesn't matter if Simoncini is a mean spirited person or not, or that he genuinely believes in his own theories. What matters is whether what he says is correct.
He says that all cancers are white, which is not correct. He says that cancer is a fungus, which is not correct. He claims fungus can be cured with baking soda, for which there is not the slightest evidence, not even an indication. He advises people not to have surgery, as this would cause the cancer to spread. Considering that surgery is still the primary and most effective treatment in case of solid cancers, this is very dangerous advice indeed.
-
If Simoncini has evidence that cancer is a fungus, it should be very easy to get fellow Doctors and academics on board. Even just one or two should agree. What could he have seen as a pathologist that no one else has? Nothing, he simply has erroneous conclusions that some tumors are white and are therefor fungal. Should he have such evidence, I see his blatant failure to bring it forth and clear his name as quite curious in light of his situation and claims. It would be a piece of cake for a qualified microbiologist to positively identify the fungus in an excised tumor. And it wouldn't be done simply based on the observation of color.
-
I recently listened to an interview on Coasttocoastam.com on alternative cancer treatments. I found it very interesting. He discussed Dr. Simoncini and others. You might have to pay a small fee to download shows but many of the guests are very interesting and informative. Dr. Mark Star was on in March 2010 and discussed links to thyroid dysfunctions and breast cancer.
Hope this helps. I do not have breast cancer but it is very prevalent in my family so I'm trying to research myself.
Thought I would attach a small Bio
Dr. John Apsley
Biography:
Dr. John Apsley has been involved with clinical research specializing in cellular regeneration and accelerated wound repair for the past 30 years. In 1995 he perfected a unique and novel rapid regenerative electrical acupuncture technique. Currently, Dr. Apsley has just completed a comprehensive 2 year retrospective study of the above emerging field of medicine spanning the global peer-reviewed medical literature. His immediate plans are to write two books on the subject scheduled to be published later this year. Both will be entitled, Overcoming Advanced Cancer: Curing vs Controlling Terminal Cancer.
-
Oh brother.
Here we go again.
Trouty55, I see this is your first post here, and you're claiming to be "researching." Please do provide a link to the "comprehensive 2 year retrospective study of the above emerging field of medicine spanning the global peer-reviewed medical literature" that you refer to.
If, indeed, breast cancer is prevalent in your family, you'd do well to do some basic FACT based research, and not just jump on the first "Breast Cancer Cure" headline you happen to find, particularly when you have to pay a fee to download the nonsense. Give me a break.

In early 2010 my father was sent home to die of terminal cancer. His prognosis was only two to three weeks remaining. It had consumed much of his colon/intestines, half of his stomach and was in his lungs, liver and thyroid. No chemo, no radiation, nothing but pain medication. We had nothing to lose, so we tried the baking soda and maple syrup treatment. Within three days there was a marked difference. Soon, he was up and about, and he's been getting steadily better ever since - about a year and half now, not bad for a man who was on his deathbed. The doctor just keeps sending him back home to keep up the baking soda/maple syrup treatment, saying chemo wouldn't do any better than he's already doing for himself. But, this same doctor still won't admit there might be something to it.
At the time that my father was still hospitalized, my uncle too was sent home with terminal cancer - prostate cancer that had spread to his bones and also cancer in his lungs, to the point that he was so physically disfigured he could hardly walk. They sent him home with pain medication, nothing more. At my father's obvious recovery, he decided to try the baking soda/maple syrup treatment as well. He too is continually improving, has moved to be nearer his family and is enjoying life more every day.
Can I say this is a cure? No. Can I say it would work for anyone with cancer? No. Can I say I've seen it work? Yes. And ever since, my family has seen and is seeing it work for others who come calling to ask about it, fielding calls from as far away as England. We're watching it make a difference in people's lives. And we're saddened when someone is so skeptical as to refuse to so much as try something so harmless when they're so ready and willing to subject themselves to chemo and/or radiation or, worse, just give up the fight completely.
Why doesn't modern medicine look into this? Because there's no profit in an easy, cheap treatment nor in people actually living. We're being had, and the cost is suffering and death. In a just world, that would be considered negligent homicide. Unfortunately, we don't live in a just world. That's why I just had to add my own testimony here. There's little more I can do. Good luck to all, keep an open mind, and keep up the fight. Never give up.

First post. Promoting quakery. Reported.
-
And now, evebarry can know why no pertinent info on this subject is available, because the site rules are not all written for the users to see. They are censored with bias. Thus, same old control of information from a single, narrow sector, as this is not a forum for "the people" to exchange ideas and experiences. And, thus, same lack of attention to the possibilities that might actually work for at least some, and if only one life were to be affected for the better then it would be well worth it. Sad to say, that's obviously not the priority here. That's okay with me and mine, as we have enough good news coming in every week to compensate for the continued statistics supported by places like this one. What a disappointment. Maybe you'll bump into someone elsewhere. After all, we're up to a couple dozen in only one year, and they all have family and friends. If you might be among them, you might find the information you're asking about. Otherwise, good bloody luck.
-
I,ve noticed member of the club that u are very quick at jumping throats, what is it that YOU are promoting ?
-
I am very suspicious of anyone that appears out of no where with no profile and no attached information - I'd report it too.
-
Susie, 1/2 the population on BCO dont have a diagnosis in their tagline, makes me suspicious too
-
Its one thing for survivors here to discuss baking soda or whatever. Its another for someone to promote their commercial interests. Thats what I was reacting to. Eyewitness, who has used other names as well, has popped in to promote his business. These are support boards, not a forum for ads. I'm not promoting anything but bringing a post that is violating the rules to the attention of the moderators.
-
I for one dont see any commercial branding in her post, only a testimonial, and as one MEMBER of BCO amongst many, am most interested in the subject. Let me be the judge of what is good for ME or not, ok ?
Vivre, dont know if u,ll read this, if not, will pm u. am already adding apple cider vinegar to water in am, what is the ratio ure doing with the baking soda ? -
Luan, creepy stuff, your posts. More than a little paranoid. Reminds many of us here of other strange posters. Hope you're having fun at BCO's expense, since that's what you seem to be seeking.
-
Digger, look whos paranoid !!!!! ha, ha
Go back to digging ure hole AND GET OFF MY TAIL or u get reported -
Sorry if I do not personally have a diagnosis of cancer in any form (knock on wood - it could happen to anybody). All I'm responding to is the subject in question and what I've seen with my own eyes. It could be of value to someone in need, and the crime would be my silence given what I've seen and, indeed, keep seeing in oh so many good people. It has been a beautiful thing to see, and I can't help but share. I profit nothing but a clear conscience. I am not here to promote any quackery or agenda other than my good intentions. That should be clear from my original post. And why THAT would be attacked by anyone...? Well, it just smells of an intent that sickens me, if not simply of a closed mind that questions nothing. I would think I'm not the only one. Think it couldn't possibly ever work? Fine, that is anyone's right, but it's for them to decide, not for anyone to decide for them. I can only pose Occam's razor: Which is more likely, that two unrelated men in the same household at the sime time dying of terminal cancer (and I do mean on their deathbed, out of their minds, unable to so much as sit up) would go into sudden spontaneous and continual remission with nothing more than pain medication or that their might - just might - be something to this alkalizing thing? And if it was only those two, even I might likely say it was the former, but it has been so many over the past year. I am in awe and, given that medicine absolutely refuses to look into any why, am utterly confused. I can't explain it any more than primitive man could explain the phases of the moon, but there's no doubt that the moon changes its face. Make of it what you will, but please allow others the same opportunity. That's all I'm saying. Peace.
-
FYI, Eyewitness (me) has never been to this site before. I'm also a girl, so I don't know who you're after here. I've never promoted any commercial interest. I'm just a secretary for others and a caring daughter. Sorry if that so offends you.
-
I've been coming on these boards for years now and this is not a new phenomenon, the "testimonial" post from a brand new poster. It really has nothing to do with whatever discussion everyone wants to have about whatever. There are businesses out there -- yes, profit-making businesses -- that engage in fringe approaches and market themselves by posting these supposed testimonials. It is essentially SPAM. I suspect eyewitness and trouty are the same person, peddling their wares. Breastcancer.org is a nonprofit site that provides these discussion boards for breast cancer patients and their loved ones.
-
MofC, when i first joined BCO, legitimately and good willingly 8 months post rads, by my third or so post you got on my case about a rebounder, ya a REBOUNDER !!! u went out of ure way to prove yourself right, but it was not to be. So unless u have proof of a clear mandate by BCO to police this site, MYOB
-
OK, I never got on your case about a rebounder. I was concerned about its use to "prevent" lymphedema and how it could actually inflame the condition if someone with lymphedema used it without the proper precautions. I have no problem with rebounders in general and I certainly didn't get on your case. I just pointed out some facts about lymphedema. To me, this is what these discussion boards are all about. In one case, you have someone posting various false testimonials to promote some fringe business. In the other, you have a poster write that rebounders are fine, but don't prevent lymphedema and should be used with compression garments if you already have the condition. Not sure why that was so offensive, but it is certainly very different.
