I wrote a nice post just upstream, but the BCO gremlins sucked out all my line breaks and paragraph spacing, turning it into one HUGE block of text. I thought this site had been optimized for handheld devices. Not iPads, apparently. Anyway, otter says "Hi!".

Hi back, Otter.  In this year of five-year anniversaries, I just realized that yesterday was the date of my first chemo treatment.

I was caught up in other stuff - bitching about having a cold, preparing for a colonoscopy, wondering when I can finally put my winter things away - and didn't even remember until I saw your post.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of drcrisc (Cristine). I am from the Sept 08 chemo group and followed your group for a long time as you were a few months ahead of me and it was like peaking into the future. I haven't been on BCO in a long time because we moved to Facebook too. But I happened to look on the angels list tonight. Just wanted to extend my sympathies to all you special ladies. xoxox

I decided to wander back to the old neighborhood tonight. It was partly Harley44's fault -- she got me curious about some recurrence risk numbers, and I needed to check the BCO forum archives.

So, I ended up here. It feels like the home I grew up in, but everyone I knew has moved away. If you're reading this, don't be worried -- the May '08 chemo group hangs out on Facebook now. Most of us are there, anyway: 16 of the original 20. We lost our dear Sue (sueper13) to mets three weeks ago tonight.

Maybe it wasn't Harley44 who brought me back here after all.

I'm not sure why I'm here. Perhaps it is a moment to remember the friends who died, to think about the lessons I've learned over the last 10+ years, and to be so very grateful for love and support of the May 08s.

rock, this BCO website won't let me "Like" what you've written. 😉 [Edited to note that we'll all be there with JulieC tomorrow. I'll bring the kolaches, as usual.]

    Love, otter
