had airbrush tan #2 today. The results aren't fully in yet. First, Everything from the last tan I had still hadn't completely faded, so I worried about what that would do to the results. I tried to exfoliate extra hard this morning, which I think did more bad than good.
I wasn't able to scrub everything off, so when I went in there I looked a litle patchy in places.
Last time, she sprayed my face over my makeup. This time I went in with a bare face. While I think my face will definitely pick up more color, I also had to apply my full face of makeup when I got home, b/c I'm going out with a girlfriend in a little while. I guess I'll see the full effects of the face when I was my makeup off tonight.
Lastly, there's an area on my neck that looks a little patchy- and I don't want to wash it, b/c I'm not supposed to get wet for at least 6 hours. I will go out with it like it is, and not worry too much, b/c my neck doesn't garner a lot of attention- I'm pretty sure people will look at my face, and looking at the shirt I've chosen for tonight... lets just say my neck isn't the focal point.
I felt like we rushed through it a little this time-- but tomorrow will tell for sure. I'm glad I'm having it done next week two days before the party so I can make sure everything is even.

Had the Restylane yesterday around 3 PM. It really was not painful. Maybe a slight eeks only one time. The ps injected me with some novocaine-ish stuff first and that was really the worst of it. And this, too, shall pass..........I was thinking.
The story is that I was ready for the full treatment, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The ps said no way did I have a place for the nose to mouth tx, so skipped that. Saved $$$. She did consent to filling my little commas at the sides of my mouth (I call them my Fu Manchu marks). It took one 1 cc syringe of Restylane. She worked back and forth to make sure it was all even, etc.
After the tx, I had a whitish bump on either side of my mouth; that was from the anesthetic. (I asked her for a general before the local but she wouldn't do it, just laughed.) The filler injections, themselves left little tiny red marks like a pinprick or something. (Well, I guess that's what they were!) A little lumpiness, not much.
The NP gave me a coldpack to use 20 min on 20 min off on those areas but it was a pain so I didn't use it. Besides, it was a 45 min drive home and I couldn't drive holding a cold pack to my face. Didn't bother with the recommended bag of frozen peas when I got home, just washed my face normally, etc. No pain just a slight feeling of pressure at the corners of my mouth.
This morning I don't look bad at all. Kinda like I picked some zits around my mouth. (What we used to so colorfully call pecker tracks in my crude yut.)
Was it worth it? Well, even before the slight swelling is gone and the scabs are still there, I *can* see that those commas are filled. The jury is still out as to whether I like myself better this way or the original version. I'll let you know in a week or so. Right now I'm thinking it didn't make much of a diff.
(See 9/8/08 post.)
I really, really would like my two frown lines filled but they like to do Botox first there and I am not doing that. Maybe I will try the Rest to soften those lines sometime in the future.
BTW, this practice uses both Restylane and Radiesse. The latter is different, more expensive, thicker and more painful to administer and lasts maybe 30% longer. The Restylane is supposed to last 6 to 9 months, Radiesse 9 to 12 months. The NP had had Radiesse (all the females in the office have been happily willing guinea pigs) twice. I don't know how old she is but she looks old. OTOH, she can't be 65 as she'd probably be retired. I wonder how she looked before the tx.
-
Alright, Tina! I think that you don't see a big difference because it was so well done. I had my first Restalyne treatment at a spa and they used 2 syringes and I was left with a sort of puffy and bumpy area. It looked quite different but until it calmed down some, I found it too much. Then I switched to an experienced PS and that made all the difference. She only needs to use one syringe and does it all so subtly that I can't see a difference until a day or so later. I'm not sure whether its my eyes and my recall or the fact that the filler settles in. Anyway, I hope that you're pleased. According to my research, btw, Radiesse is almost the same and more expensive, so I didn't bother. In the future though, I'll be looking to get Artefil ( http://www.artefill.com/consumer/ )....it does sound promising, huh?
I soooooooooo need a filler now! I wish that they had scholarships for this type of thing (a rather high-end, luxury problem, I guess
)!~Marin

need overnight zit rememdies. LIKE NOW!!!
I got a huge zit on my face (stress, my period) and I thought it would be gone by the party, but it looks like it's hear to stay. I have ZERO time on my hands, and I am stressed out beyond belief...
all advice is appreciated.

Yes Beth! You look beautiful
I love that color.....I think my eyes are wrong, to much liner? This is the year I was returning from bald, I played up my eyes and lips to hide from the "NO HAIR LOOK" and lack of lashes . I know I got to carried away with the pink, LOL to much pick ribbon stuff.
Here is the way I look now....not to much better

-
Beth, try plain old tooth paste. It works to dry up pimples over night. Make sure it is paste and not gel.
-
Mary Lou, you look adorable. Have you thought about a lighter liner? I've read that when we use dark liner on upper AND lower, it makes the eye smaller. You could use the liner you have on the uppers and a med brown on the bottom, just to enhance your lashes and see how that does.
I use eyeshadow for liner and only do the bottom. I seem to not need it on the upper, but then I've just had my lashes tinted for the second time---besides, I usually smear my mascara (when I wear it) enough to LOOK like liner. LOL
-
Hey Beth,
The Pro-Active face mask works terrificly on zits. Dab it on the blemish and leave it overnight. It really works well. I have my 12 yr old using it and she likes it alot.
Tina,
You have a great complexion. I am not sure what I'm looking for, but I don't see any deep lines. Looks good!
MaryLou,
Your eyes are beautiful. I think you look pretty adorable myself!
Lexi
-
Adorable at 52 , how sweet, I will take that complement. And trust me I'm not good at it.
Dotti, I did get some brown liner not long ago and have been using it in the daytime hours. It seems to be softer.
And I use shadow from the brown/gold family.
-
Mary-Lou you look c-o-o-o-o-l! You and I have exactly the same shape face. I have a gap between my front teeth that you can fit a coin through. Someone told me once it meant I was going to be rich. Yeah..right..!
I have never been interested in make-up until now. Funny, isn't it. I have 2 lots of chemo to go..one tomorrow, and I am hoping against hope that my eyebrows don't go. The lashes are hanging in there. I just want to stay (publicly at least) in complete denial. Bit hard with the whole cancer-girl look happening!
This is a good thread. We need to remind ourselves that we are GIRLS, not sick, sad, sorry odd ETs!! XX to you all. -
Hi, BC Belles! I have been lurking on this board for months.

Makeup is the one thing most of us can use to look good, feel better~~~whether it comes from the drugstore or department store. ((I am committed to Clarins; they provide gifts for my cancer luncheon each year)
Since many of us are already in the care of a hopefully caring PS, why not take advantage of all he/she has to offer, if we possibly can afford/justify it? Mine gave me Restylane during my surgery~~~everyone wondered why I looked so good!
Just got touch-ups yesterday, including some work around my lipline, which shows the effects of a former vice.......and it helps me feel better when I am in pain from turtle shell fill!
I agree re brown eyeliner after seeing ageless Jane Seymour in new Hallmark movie. She had on a red shoulder-length wig with brown liner and gold.brown shadow~~~looked great.
I don't know how old she is but she looks old~~~~~Tina, those are words I never want to overhear!

-
Beth, a dab of 1% OTC cortisone cream should help with any redness/swelling. Two or three times per day. DoNotPick!!! BTW, you have not given us over on Fashion any updates on the final state of your dress. Well???
Lexi, thanks for the compliment. I really don't have deep lines but I have been hating the shallow ones that have been forming. I guess that at 61 (come November), several surgeries and chemo over the past year and a half it's amazing that I am not one, big furrow. As it is, the ones between my brows are the worst of the lot. Maybe that's why the ps was kind of tentative about doing my Restylane. In the end, I suppose she figured it was my money.........Hey, I told her that my hair is still crazy curly from chemo, my eyelashes are falling out for the FIFTH time, I still have a half-baked foob and my rt. index finger is still not working after the last surgery (mystery problem even an MRI cannot decipher) so I deserve to try to make SOMETHING look a little better. Right?
MaryLou, I would definitely eliminate the lower dark eyeliner if I were you. You are so adorable and have such pretty eyes. I think you might want to try a soft shade of plum or violet this fall (BIG in fashion and makeup) as a smudgy liner under the outer half of your lower lids if you still want something there. Those colors are supposed to be good for blue eyes. Also, they would go well with the brown/gold colors you already use and like. Try something new.
kerry, welcome. What chemo have you had? Yes, that feeling of being hairless/browless is just the pits.
Pansy, you had Restylane *during* surgery? Wow, talk about killing two birds with one stone. And, no pain at all. LOL Oh, I cannot imagine having my lips done. That must hurt like hell. I have a naturally small mouth and making my lips bigger would make me look so unlike myself and like a clown but I wish I had fuller lips. Not Angelina lips, good God, I think they are awful, but just nice, full lips. Oh well, I am what I am.
With my ongoing foob issues, the ps joked that too bad I couldn't do massive amounts of Restylane to fill out the foob where needed. Oh, yeah. That's a whole other story.
So nice to see new ladies here. Where is Raye??? LauraGTO??? I miss them and their cuteness.

-
Well, I'm going to kill two birds with one outpatient surgery: replacing my ruptured Becker implant and getting my maroinette lines reinjected. Oct 16. Can we all say YEA! (at least we hope to do it. they don't make my kind of Becker implant any longer.)
I had an upper lip lift when I had my lower face lift a few years ago and was really scared at how it looked at first. Know what geisha lips look like, or Betty Boop? Yep, that was how they looked. If I had been in the 20's with the "bee sting" looking lips I would have done great. But all is well and it turned out very well. I also us lipliner every day I put on lip color. I like MAC pro longwear, it stays on all day and Revlon makes a good all day one too.
the lip liner makes the biggest difference in making my lips look bigger, I never used it before, but won't be without it now.
-
Abba, it was NOT collagen~~~I haven't seen a successful "lip job"!
PS said he wanted to "define" lipline, and yes, I was teary!
I have lipliner, and after reading Iodine, I am gonna use it!!!
-
Hi abbadoodles,
I've 3 X 3-weekly FEC and 2 X 3-weekly taxotere. One to go!! I'm heading into town to buy some brow pencil today; getting nervous 'bout dem brows!
-
How are you doing with the brows today, kerry? Think of it this way; The sooner they go, the sooner they will be back. Small comfort, I know. What can I say?
Product report: I bought some Fusion Beauty Lift Fusion Magic Wand. http://www.fusionbeauty.com/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductLineID=291FDD81-5FEB-43D6-93D9-07FB030A4F24&tab=1&banner=1 The first time I used it (yesterday) on my frown lines, I could see a softening. Now, the lines are not gone, but they are softer. This gives me some curiosity about the Lift Fusion Face Lift. It does come is a small size for "only" $25. I may try it for my whole forehead. They also have an eye area product. Hmmmm. Miracle juice. I do love to try these things.
I've use the Fusion Lip Plump off and on for a couple of years. Again, no miracle, but it does have a noticeable effect. This time, I bought the 2X strength. Seems pretty good.
Oh, guess what? They now have a Lip Plumping Lipliner!!! http://www.fusionbeauty.com/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductLineID=F50147BA-1DC5-4A9E-B6A2-DDC860176D24&tab=1&banner=2
The visible effects of trauma from my Restylane are fading and barely noticeable. Actually, I went out with a friend on Friday (3 days after treatment) and didn't even bother trying to cover the zitty areas. The swelling is not visible but you can still feel it with fingertips. So far, so good.
-
The brows..well I bought 3 pencils (an eyeliner thing included), paid AUD $66 and am pissed off with the eyeliner pencil..stays on 20 mins. if that! The brows fared better..That pencil is a better colour than the one I had. The brow-hais I have lost are coming back as little dots.y-a-a-y! But I've still got about 7 weeks of side effects to work through yet. Think I'll get that ET look...
-
Okay, I tried the no liner thing....Didn't say a word about it. Got to Target shopping, my husband looked at me and said, "I don't know what, but something is missing about your make up. I said what? He said "I don't know but you look old"!!!!!!!!!
We were by the restroom at the time, I took off and put my hair down. Came back and said "Does this look better"? He said it's your eyes Mary not your hair, and smiled. Grrrrr
When we got back to the car and before going to dinner I redid my eyes....He said that's a little better. I didn't have all my make up along, so I did the best I could.
MEN
It really was funny

I will keep trying, and take pictures. We may just have to have a poll as to which eyes I look best in.
-
If my husband told me that I looked old, no matter what the reason or even if I did!), I'd leave him. Oh, wait a minute, I DID!!!

~Marin
-
Marin, I Love you !
LOL I am old....
I would have slapped his face if he didn't always look at me and say "You're beautiful, are you ever going to age? And he always Say's that to me.
Trust me I am aging.....I see it everyday.
He really seems to think I look the same.
So for him to say I looked old just blew me away. Then I laughed. I said well this is a fine time to tell someone they look old....fluorescent lights....Grrrrrr in the middle of the store!
I agree I looked different, but I didn't think old was it. I still got a nice dinner outside at a little place near the lake. Turned out wonderful

-
Oh, boy, I guess I gave you bad advice!!! Well, back to the drawing board. Of course, maybe he just is so used to you looking a certain way that anything else is not good to his eye. Maybe you *should* give us some before and afters. You know we girls always love to judge and give advice.
(Still, I cannot imagine your cute face looking old. The nerve!)Just took a shot of my mug and will upload soon so you can see the Restylane on Day 7.
-
Okay, here is the state of my face seven days after having the Restylane injections in the lines right on either side of my mouth and a little lower. (Did not have the nasolabials done.) There is a little mole on the right side of my upper lip; that's not a scab or anything. No makeup, of course.
Here's the Day after injections for comparison.
-
LOL, yes we will judge my eyes as soon as I can take the time to apply and redo all the looks. It should be fun.....
-
Beth~ Did you get rid of that zit?
-
MaryLou,
I went w/out eyeliner at work. A couple of the ladies I worked with asked me if I was tired. That answered my question of should I use eyeliner or not!
Post some of your eye looks when you get a chance. Your eyes are really stunning!
Tina,
You have a great complexion. I am envious of your poreless skin! I have been using a cream by ROC, that I bought at, of all places, Costco. I really like it. It is a nightime wrinkle reducer, but I am seeing my pores are looking smaller. Good stuff!
Lexi
-
-
Mary Lou, you had me rolling around on the floor with THAT one. An old barn, indeed! I'm still choking with giggles.Lexi, PORELESS? You gotta be kidding. My nose is quite the opposite and the left cheek is pore-ful, too. For some reason, the right cheek is pretty good. And, look at those craters on my chin! Well, honey, you sure did make me feel good, anyway. What are friends for???
That Fusion stick thingy is pretty good. I may have to order the LiftFusion and give that a whirl. Wow. I am spending money like a drunken sailer. NO offense to drunken sailors. LOL
-
You girls crack me up!
My husband tells me every day: "You are my lovely one.".
I am bald, flushed, tired, 14 lbs o/w since this began, almost browless, crabby and now I have a mouth and throat which resembles milky jelly with white dots (taxanes).
Can he possibly mean what he says???
Love you all.
