So this morning I won this women of distinction award- and my future MIL got me a little gift bag to celebrate.

Inside is the brand new NOT YET IN STORES Lancome Oscilation Mascara.  You push a button, and the battery operated wand vibrates and apparently makes your lashes look incredible without having to curl them.

I don't curl my lashes to begin with, and I can't try it out yet b/c I already have mascara on, but I will give a FULL report tomorrow.  It looks like it could be awesome...but I guess there's always that chance I'm going to poke my eye out with it.

    lol

Ugh-- dont waste your money girls.  I am here to officially say, that all of these companies are coming out with this vibrating mascara, and it does NOTHING to elongate or seperate my lashes.  In fact, I felt that they were more clumpy then ever.

I am sticking to my tried and true Loreal Double Extend.

Went to Target looking for that fun Body Spray I bought two weeks ago-- I love it so much I want to have an extra can at home-- but it was sold out.Frown

Glad to hear the mascara was just hype. I kind of wondered if I was the only one who thought it was kind of "creepy" to put something like that near your eyes!!!

That John Frieda glaze I bought the other day?  I used it per the "once a week" instructions on Saturday, then just washed and dried my hair, no gel or other product.  It didn't look anything special.  Yesterday, I wetted out my hair and used some conditioner, then rinsed, then used my usual styling gel.  My hair did gleam in the sunlight (I attended an outdoor baby shower).  Today my somewhat grungy hair look like it would normally look like, no better, no worse.

Tomorrow morning I will wash my hair and use the glaze as per the "every shampoo" instructions and report back.

Oh, I know they don't color.  I bought the clear, anyway.  Just wanted brilliant, dazzling, stupendous shine!!!

Shads Eq?  I just Goggled it and I see it's a Redken product.  I wonder where I can find it.  Online?  Or is it just a salon product?

I think Shades EQ is available in beauty stores-- otherwise, you can go to a salon that uses it.  It's a great product that won't damage your hair.

I am so upset....I showed my stupid hairdresser a pic of Gwyneth Paltrow and asked for a shoulder length bob with razored ends so it's fuller on the top..she cuts the hair with a razor and it's way too long...so she comes back and uses scissors and cuts it blunt to my shoulders but no razor so it looks like darth vadar..so I go to the salon to have it shaped better..and end up with a subtle posh spice...nice cut - not for me..I've been crying all night - my hair was so long and lovely..now I have to wear it back forever and extend my maternity leave so no one sees it..haha just kidding about that!

Well, honey, at least the baby will still love you.  Smile  Besides, you are so darling that I'm sure you look fabulous; you're just not used to it.  (And remember, hair DOES grow.)

I used that Freida glaze again yesterday and it does seem to make my hair a tad shinier.  Maybe it just has to build up to be noticeable.  I read on the bottle that it contains MICA, for goodness sakes.  That is what must be making the hair shine.  LOL  I feel like a snow cone Santa!

I also discovered a new tool for getting the shine off my forehead and from under my eyes:  a square of toilet paper!  Remember, the Yankee mentioned it here first. Tongue out

I have been using the John Frieda glaze for blondes and the first time I kind of "plopped" a glob on the crown of my head and then massaged it in. Hour later, looking at the back of my hair in the mirror, and the crown looked like it was full of grease and "oily" shiny. DOH! Next time, I took that same glob and rubbed my hands together and just used it on the ends. Looks great! I have used it the last 3 times I shampooed and my hair looks much healthier and has a good shine...

Marisa...I'm sure you don't look like Darth Vader! Maybe another shaping by another hairdresser?

Has anyone tried any of these?

    And reviews/recommendations?

AWWWWWW. don't fret-- it will grow back.  I'm so proud of my reach patient-- she had her first chemo and just cut 8 inches off.  It's now chin length, and this will be an easier transition to bald, but she cried all the way through it.

Marisa- we've all fallen victim to a tragic haircut... but seriously don't sweat it.  I'm sure you're so busy with the baby you don't even have time to style your hair.  I'm trying to picture darth vader...

did she razor too high up, and then leave the ends kind of long?  Worst case scenario you can always cut it shorter to an ear length bob and then let it grow out--- don't cry though.  It'll be back before you know it.

Post another picture of this delicious child and we can oooooo and aaaahhhhh and that will make you happy again.

I have a confession to make.  I inquired the other day (of the ps office) who I would be talking to about the possibility of filler injections.  Not ready to commit, but am considering it for around my mouth.  It's kind of scary, though.  Not to mention expensive.  Just don't know if I should do it.

    Waddaya think?

I have seen the results and I say go for it if that is what you want Wink I do suggest making sure it is done by a board certified PS and NOT anyone else........I have also seen botch jobs (I am a nurse) so just do your homework! Good luck, and I am sure it will look great :) I am excited for you!

BTW, if you live in Illinois, I can give you some names of excellent docs :)

T- my mom judst text me this morning, to tell me she wants filler around her mouth.  I am totally against it, but if she does it, and it comes out good I'll email you pics.

Attention all TANNING freaks: I am happy to report that I just got home from my first airbrush custom tan.  It is incredible.  If you've ever seen that silly show Sunset Tan on E! network, its just like that.  You get custom color and they airbrush it on you, to define muscles and lines, and they even did my face.  It was $45 and it lasts 7-10 days.  I am doing it once a week for 3 weeks until my engagement party.  The color is great, and It took 15 minutes to do.  SOOOOO much better then those gross spray tan booths at the tanning salon.

My legs are so even, and everything came out great.  It was also a great breast cancer conversation as well since I was standing there in just underwear.  Tha tan did not accentuate the scars at all on my abdomen, and the girl could not believe I had my breasts made out of my own body.  I HIGHLY recommend to all that need a tan!!!

This just in:  I made an appt with a personal trainer for next week.  I had her as a nurse in day surgery when I had my implant exchange last August.  She is an ACE cert. trainer on the side and is willing to take me on!

Beth, let me know if your mom does the deed.  Your tan sounds great.  I've reverted to blue/white.

Behold: The solution to brittle nails.  A friend of a fried works in a spa, you know how that goes.

Well, this is what landed in my hands, and while I strongly recommend it, I haven't the slightest clue where to go about finding it.

Crystalgen Nails Nano liquid protein Intensive is what it's called.  OHHHHH found the web site on the box-- here it is:

That's so interesting.  Nanotechnology is working its way into every sphere.  Will check this out.

I am also eating my words about the J Freida.  The more I use it, the shinier my hair gets.  I woder if that means my hair is getting clogged with mica particles???  O my.  Well, it is looking pretty good.  I just wish it didn't have such a mind of its own but at least it's hair.

The personal trainer had to break the appt.  I'm so disappointed.  Will look for someone else but I refuse to sign up at a gym because I never keep going.

If you use a lot of the John Freida products you may need to wash your hair with the herbal essence degunkify shampoo (green bottle) once a week....

    Hey,

I just wanted to share a quick beauty find. I went to MAcy's w/ my SIL this weekend. I purchased a product by benefit called Browzings. I really like it! It comes with a wax and a powder. Nice brushes to apply the stuff. I also purchased a really pale pink pencil that goes right below the brow bone. It really "lifts" the eye area. The pencil can also be used around the eyes, blended of course, and gives a nice brightening effect to the whole eye area. It's good stuff!

I have lots to catch up this thread. I need to read what I have been missing!

Tina...I use Restalyne around my mouth and the results are astounding! I don't have huge crevices or anything but the stuff does what it intends to do and fills in the creases completely. Takes about 10 years off! Unfortunately, I'm so broke these days that I've had to put off a "refill" and am noticing a little droop. You need to fill every 8-10 months and I've gone ten now. I really swear by this technique, not only for the physical change, but for how it makes me feel so much better! I do agree with red though....go only to a board-certified plastic surgeon.

There are tons of ACE, AFAA and ACSM-certified personal trainers now. Look on the organizations websites for a listing if you're having trouble finding one. One of the main things we're taught to do is to encourage our clients to really stick with fitness!

Marin!  Great to see you stop in again.  Fill us in on all the fun you have been having, you bronzed goddess, you.

I didn't know you were one of those certified fitness trainers.  You have been hiding your light under a bushel basket.  Is there any difference in credentials?  Which is best?

My prospective trainer is a nurse I met last year in day surgery.  She was all gung-ho at the time and had opened a local studio with several classes.  I was not in shape to go at the time and just forgot about her until this winter but then I couldn't go, either, because of the March surgery.  I called her a while ago and she had closed the studio but said she could come to my house or I could go to hers.  She is also working at a gym in the area but I know I will never keep going to a gym 45 minutes away.  You have to sign up for a year, even if you do pay by the month.  Then, I get really po'd with myself.  I just need to know what to do and have someone make sure I am doing it correctly.  Then, I can do it mysel all month.  Then,I'm okay with going in for a monthly or bi-monthy tune-up.

I did cal the ps office today and have an appt. for NEXT WEEK!    Thanks for the enabling. LOL  I figure if I've gone through all I've gone through so far, I'm not going to let myself look like a hag for the sake of the little matter of $600.  Hey, I gave up my monthly facials last year and I figure I've already saved about $2000.  I just moved the expense from one column to another. Wink

Browzings?  Is this better than the Anastasia?  Must check this one out.  Thanks, Lexi.  Doesn't the pink pencil on the browbone make you look like you've been crying?

So much makeup, so little time.  I need a whole other face to try everything I want.

    Tina,

The pink pencil is really brightening actually. I was surprised too. Like Beth said, it looks great in the inner and outer corners of your eyes. Almost like you would use an under eye concealer.Blend it in well. I haven't heard of the Anastasia brand. I don't normally venture too much outside my normal beauty stuff. But this eyebrow stuff is pretty nice! I think you'd like it!

    Beth,

The brow-zings come in a small palette, like a duo eye shadow would come in. There is a tinted wax on one side and a brow powder on the other. It comes with a slanted brush to apply the wax and a rounded brush to apply the powder. There is also a cute little tweezer in the kit, but it doesn't work very well. It's just cute and little.Smile It is kind of cool how using the product just gives you a nice "finished" look. Normally I wouldn't spend $30.00 on an eyebrow product, but after the counter gal did one side it looked really good. I didn't even know I NEEDED it LOL.

I had the Howdie Doodie creases on each side of my mouth.  My ps injected my own fat into the creases and that was in '04---they are still looking pretty good.  I didn't think they would last this long to tell the truth.

I am an advocate of touch ups and what ever else one wants to improve how they feel about a problem.  As noted, make dang sure they know what they are doing!!!!!

I've given my hair extra thought..and I kinda like it...everyone else does too...it was styled nicely when I went to fix it..I guess I'm just shocked that I showed a pic and got something totally different and about 4 inches off!!

I like Benefit..it's a good brand - always new stuff to try

I love the custom spray tanning - it's great..and I'm addicted to the stupid Sunset Tan show also!

Well, I ordered the pink Benefit pencil, along with a replacement on my YSL Touche Eclat.  I will be interested to see how the two compare as I use the TE all through the hollow on the sides of the bridge of my nose between my eyes and it brightens it pretty well.  Maybe the pencil will be better.  We'll see.  Also might be better on the browbone.  Playtime coming up.

I also ordered that Cobalt eye stick by Clinique.  Can't wait to see if it looks as good at home as in the store.

Em, see, you just needed to step back for a time.  A change now and then is a good thing.  Why don't you send us a pic?

Dotti, did you have the fat injections done during some other surgery that required lipo or did you just go in and have it done alone?  I am intrigued.  I will be asking my ps about it.  The nice thing is that, after all, it is my original bc ps that will be doing the Restylane.  I inquired and ALL the ps's in the office are board cert in ps and all do the filler injections.  THEMSELVES.  Not a nurse or other professional, although that is not necessarily a bad thing.

My Howdie Doodie's are pretty faint but I want to nip them in the bud.  So far, at the ripe old age of 61 in November, people still comment on how they cannot believe my age and they take me for 40.  Gee, I'd like to make it more like 35! Wink Well, as long as I don't wake up one day like Dorian Gray and be 101............

BTW, this ps, a woman, has a great face/skin and I had wondered if she, at her age, which must be about mid to late forties ??? had had any work/fillers done.  Of course, I can't ask.  It would not surprise me.
