Ack! I woke in such joint pain a few days ago! The weather has been playing havoc with the arthritis I already had compounded by the AI I take. The last few days have been torture. Yesterday, I thought my left wrist HAD to be broken...I couldn't even put my purse over my shoulder cause the wrist didn't want to bend without such an ache.
Well, silly me, I finally realised all I needed to do was take some ibuprofen, and VOILA! I'm almost pain-free. So today, the sun is finally shining and I'm able to move without cringing.
Val, your trip is getting closer. I'm almost as excited as you, I bet. I'm a vicarious traveler. I'm not much for the actual travelling, but I love to hear about others' trips and look at their pix. So plan to take plenty and post them here pronto!
{{{Hugs}}} to the ladies who ares still going through chemo (Cheryl, Nettie...anyone else I missed). I have been finished now for almost ten months. My hair is back (much longer now than my avatar photo which was taken last winter), and I don't think I have any lasting SEs from it.
Shirlann - I hope Marshall knows what a special mother he has, and will learn his lesson and listen to you more in the future. I'm 58 and still learn from my father's wisdom. And if I want to do something "right", I channel my mother's spirit and think, "What would she do?"
Well, back to work. My coffee break is over.
-
Good to see you Nancy! Glad the ibuprofin is working. What AI are you on? I went off the Arimidex and just started Aromasin..hoping to tolerate it much better.
I told Val..that at the end of summer craziness....I am DEFFINATELY planning to come to NY and see you two!! Hopefully all flights will cooperate!
I still can't believe you are 58..no way!!! G/f...you look great!
-
If, or should I say when, you come to NYC, let me know; would love to get together. I am only 30 minutes from NYC. In fact Nancy- why don't we meet up some time this summer?
-
EWB...that would be great...Val is in NJ too!
-
A NYC visit sounds great!!! How does sometime in September sound?
Hugs!

I have been on the phone all morning trying to sort out my medical spending card charges and tracking down my husband's prescriptions the doctor faxed in on Monday. It is frustrating. I used the medical spending card a total of 4 times in April and May to pay for the therapy on my hand all at Quest 4 Life rehab services. The administrators denied the first charge and last charge but approved the two charges in the middle. I unfortunately have missplaced three of the receipts. I called to find out why they would deny and approve charges from the same place within 3 weeks and the reason I got from customer service - once I finally got through - was that the approved charges were an even $100 but the other two charges were for an odd amount (162 and 38). My first visit charge was 162 for the consultation and testing, the other charges were just amounts to get me up to my $400 deductible when the insurance would start paying 80%. I got through to the therapy office and they are going to fax me the receipts so I can send them on to the medical spending card to verify the charges.
As far as Donald's prescriptions. He was running out of his meds and we had to get a new prescription. The doctor's office has saturday hours and we went by Saturday morning to see the doctor and get the script, the (new) receptionst told us that Saturday's were for urgent care only and wouldn't let us see the doctor so we had to leave the renewal form for them to fill out. (We have had appointments on Saturday before to get donald's scripts filled, that is why we changed to that doctor's office 2 yrs ago) I wrote the medical spending card number on the form and checked for overnight delivery. The doctor's office didn't call to say they had faxed in the script but I checked online at the mail order pharmacy to see if they had the order in house, which it was but it didn't say the type of delivery (standard or overnight). I had to call the pharmacy to find out how it is scheduled to be shipped and they did confirm that it is overnight.
Each call took about 30 minutes for a simple question. What ever happened to customer service?
Sheila
-
Sheila..don't you hate making those phone calls? I have to fight to get something taken off my credit card..I have called once..and it's still there..and they keep charging this monthly fee! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Customer service..is down the drain..it's all automated..mostly!
Val...September would be absolutely perfect!!!

-
Sue, isn't your dad a gem, traveling 100 miles to see you.
I don't know about putting teabags on your eyes with conjunctivitis. I agree with Lisa you are trying to do too much.
brands of tea bags, regular tea we have Tetley, Lipton, an of course the store brands. then if you get the specialty flavored teas there are quite a few different brands. I usually use the Food Lion store brand tea bags and I make sweet iced tea with that by the gallon. for a cupa hot tea, I like any of the peppermint tea with lemon and honey in it.
-
DO THE TEA BAG SUE - Any brand will work, I only drink tea when I am feeling really really sick, I am a coffee freak. But when I was going through treatments I could not stand coffee for some reason and I drank warm tea by the gallons then, it always made me feel so good inside.
AND I ECHO WHAT THE OTHERS HAVE SAID - Love your dad - YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN AND REST.
-
Hey Missy - Lisa is right - you don't want ME & UB givng you a tongue lashing when we get there, do you?????? You better rest up because we'll have allot of pint raising to do and you need your strength.
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Lisa - September sounds great - we need to pick a date.
Heading to the gym.

Cathi, I, too, have stopped drinking coffee since I started chemo. I used to put away almost a pot a day now it taste awful!
My onc doc's office called today. Looks like my light at the end is pushed farther away. They are starting me on a new chemo, Monday. called Aredia, it's to stop bone mets. Will find out how often I have this one, but I am scheduled for the AC the following week - I have two more AC's left, the 29th of this month and 23rd of next month. So am not too happy!
I am mostly resting as when I stand up I feel like I'm bout to faint. No fun this AC. and after last tx I had a couple of days with chest/back pain with a feeling of being choked - doc said next time to get my bottom to the er !!!
Sue, so nice you have a lovely relationship with your dad. So many of you do. I envy you all.
xoxoxoxo
Cheryl
-
SUE,
WHAT A NICE SURPRISE!!! I hoep you got to spend some time with your dad!
Cheryl, I know it stinks when your plans change, but hopefully it willl stop any bone mets in the future. You ned to rest and take it easy. Will keep you in my prayers.
Hello to all my other sistahs!! Busy day today!!
-
Sue, Your dad is so sweet! What a wonderful surprise. I hope you slow down and relax a bit.
And to everyone else... I'm still here... just nothing to write about, but I read you all daily.
I'm in a funk so I'm working all that out... I've gotten two new baby kittens to help distract me and I love them. They are Siamese little girls named Melody and Harmony... my duet...
My kids graduated from college and I'm feeling the empty nest even more now (even though my son plans to move home for a few months) It's just so many changes in my life.
Anyway, I love you all and will post more when I can put my thoughts into some kind of sentences...
Hugs!

LOVE the cat names!
Cheryl, I didn't know you had bone mets! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{ Cheryl }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
-
Barbe, no, no bone mets. this new chemo he is putting me on is to help prevent it, so I don't get it.
{{{{{{{{{{{ Barbe }}}}}}}}}}}}
-
Cheryl: I hope the new drug does help stave off any mets. I was on a clinical trial that added Gemzar to the dose-dense chemo treatments. That is to stave off recurrence of breast cancer. Good luck with the rest of your chemo treatments, may they fly by for you with the least amount of s/e's. I was pre-menopausal at age 47 (totally), but TAXOL put me in menopause in ONE DAY. Now on tamoxifen, but am considered post-menopausal...will be switching to an AI soon.
ALL MY BEST to all of you still going thru treatments...they DO end, and we continue the fight!
LOVELY to hear about a Dad who cares...as echoed by many above...Sue, you must know how very very lucky you are. Some of us have become estranged by NEED from our fathers, and are doing fine with that.
-
Cheryl, sorry for the change in plans, sending many prayers and hugs your way. I am back to being a coffee nut now, heck I have you beat by a few pots ad day, I seriuosly know I drink way to much, but hell, I love it and I am drinking it until I can't. Be careful with those dizzy spells. XOXOXOXOXO
Hi Juli - I grew up in Amsterdam NY, spent a lot of time in Albany, when I married I moved to God forsaken Cobleskill NY- I still have a dughter in Cobleskill, looks like she may be moving this way though come August.

{{{{{ Cathi }}}}}}}}}} You know what you have to do....
otherwise, it will ruin the rest of your summer anyway....
we're here for you.
-
Cathy sorry to hear about your continued pain. Is it time to call the Dr.? The summer of Cathi can still happen, but please take care of yourself. We need you, you kids and grandkids need you. Take care!
-
Hello everyone!! So sorry that I've been AWOL. Portia's out of school and I don't get any time on her computer. Rhuel is going to buy me a new laptop at his company's discount price. We'll see how long it takes. I HATE not having internet access!!! It's sad how dependent I've become on it.
Portia had her braces removed and she looks so pretty! We're going in today to get her retainer. I'll have to post a pic while she's gone one day. I've got to run for now. She's chomping at the bit to get back on the computer.
Big hugs to Sue, Cathi, Cheryl, Jane, and anyone else who's having a hard time. I love you all!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Hey, Karen. We missed you too! I bet Portia is gorgeous! Post some pics. DH had to get me a laptop too for the same reasons. Thank God he did!!
-
Hi sisters!
Cathi..sorry about your unbearable pain. I know it's the summer of "Cathi", but maybe you better just go and have a scan done.
I get a bone scan done tomorrow...just to be sure, since I complained so much about pain..but I truly think mine was from the arimidex..cause alot of it has gotten much better.
Sue...better rest up for all the pint drinking you will be doing with AE & UB!!! I wish I was there with you!
Val...we will pick a day in Sept!!
Karen..good to see you! I bet Portia just is so estatic to have those braces off...I am sure she looks beautiful!
Sorry your eyes are still bad sue...tea them up! lol
Cheryl..sorry about your A/C treatment extended....it's a tough one...I remember!
Ok..back to work..and then home to scrap some more..almost done...2008 is where I am...only 1 year!!!!
xoxo
Lisa
