Hm-m-m, something no one knows about me. Well, I was in a sorority in college...a big national one. It was not the heyday of the Greek system on my campus—far from it (late 60's - early 70's), and I always wonder if I would have been given a bid if there had been the usual number of rushees. There's my insecurity showing.
Shirlann, I tried out for cheeleading every year, and never made the squad. I didn't have blonde hair, they already had their token brunette, and they just didn't know what to make of a redhead.
Wow, Lisa, I'm impressed. I freeze when I'm up high. Ferris wheels are like a nightmare for me, especially when someone is rocking the seat. Just thinking about it is giving me the willies. My younger sister was in the Army, and she got her "wings" for jumping. You're the only two people I know who have done it.
Suebee, I think synchronized swimming is kind of cool. I always think of the old Busby Berkeley movies that had perfectly coiffed and made-up women floating around kicking up their legs and stuff. Not as athletic as the competitive kind (and minus the nose clips).

Hi everyone , I just wrote a long post , and as I was trying to post some drawings , poof! Its gone! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Ok , so as I was saying , Suebee , so glad to see you post. Sorry you are in pain. It will get better. Hang in there sweetie.xxxx
Lisa , Wow , skydiving! you rock! And your pics are goregous! You are definately in "the zone" girlfriend!xxxx
Shirlann , love the pics. And yes , I am trying to write Oprah a letter about are journey , and if she would like , for her next ,"making dreams come true" show that she could bring us all together. I just haven't had much time lately to work on it...xxxx
Sheila , where are the pics of you and your son?! I thought they would be here by now. Can you tell I am impatient!?lol
Hi Sue
! I know you are working your tail off and need your rest. But I miss you! Soon , we will all be together , partying in emerald city!xxxx
OK , something you all don't know about me , I love to draw. And I will share some of my drawings with you. BUT , first I will post this , just in case , I don't want to loose what I have written.
Oh , Suebee , syncronized swimming sounds so awesome! I love to swim and I love the water. I think that would be so much fun!xxxx
Nancy , As one red head to another, you would have made a fabulous cheerleader!
Miss Lisa , get going on Olivia's scrapbook!
Judie , I love to read your posts. You are soooo witty , and informative. And always write with such heartfelt feelings. Hope you are having a good moment.xxxx
I love to read. Before my "promotion" at work , I always listened to books on tape. But can't seem to find the time to read lately. I am still working on Nordies at noon!

Wow, Mel!

Those are really good, Mel! I'm impressed. Makes me want to pick up the 'ol pencil and start doodling!
Hugs,

Mel, I admire anyone who can draw. I can't. Or am afraid of it, for some reason. Criticism in 3rd grade, maybe? Only a shrink would know for sure!
One thing no one knows about me? I was the top French Horn player in the state of NC my senior year in high school. I think about playing now and again, but it would take lots and lots of practice!
Here's me on the rocks:

I'm new here and trying to submit a general question. I hope I'm in the right place. I need answers from experience, not md. I have an older friend just diagnosed w/bc, and part of her conversation with me included these horrible chills that she gets, mostly at night. The only info I can find is that chills can be associated with treatment. Do any of you remember experiencing these episodes before you realized you had bc? I think it could be associated with the fact that she has bc, but cannot confirm it anywhere I have looked. Thank you all for your sharing.
-
Hi, Seaweed,
I think chills must be treatment related, and not directly a breast cancer symptom.
Since this thread has become a fairly "social" one that many folks don't read, you may want to start a conversation just on this topic. There's a bar at the top of the "just diagnosed" page for starting a conversation. I think you'll get a biger response that way.

It's a day that I am having a hard time being motivated..and so much to do!! I have an upset stomach...so that is holding me back some.
Well let's see..so far we have....
SEVERAL ARTISTS...JUDIE, MEL, MYSELF (hope I didn't miss anyone)
SKYDIVER (one time..hehe)
CHEERLEADER
SORORITY GIRL
SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMER
FRENCH HORN PLAYER & ROCK CLIMBER (I admire that Ann..would love to try)
MOUNTAIN BIKER (would love to try that too AE)
We have a talented unique wonderful bunch of beautiful women here. Can't wait to see all of the other unkown talents, loves, etc.
Mel...I love your drawings. I would have to say the first one is my favorite! Some of the others, was for me..looking at my own drawing book. I had no idea, you had that talent and love. Me too!! I need to do more of it. When I was a kid, that is what my godfather would buy me every year, art supplies. I loved drawing with charcoal...I was only about 10 yrs old, but really enjoyed using it.
Anne...I just saw your family pictures and sunset. Absolutely beautiful!! What a beautiful family! Your grandaughters are precious! I love your hair too!!
Mel...that is a great idea for Oprah's Making dreams come true show. Maybe too she could think about bringing us all together in October, which is PINK month..National Breast Cancer month. How could she pass up such a wonderful bunch of ladies, who have traveled down such a terrible road, and grown to love and care and support each other while we all ventured to the Emerald City?? No way...she would love us!!!
Yes...Miss Mel....the scrapbook awaits me! I may go pick one up today and work on sorting my pics!! Yikes...I have allot of work to do!!
Have a great Sunday ladies!
xoxo

Have you considered interior decorating?
Love you all, Shirlann

Hello all you beautiful, wonderful women! And hi to dear UB!
I love your drawings Mel - such a variety! I'm so glad your dh is feeling better and hope that they can sort out his heart problems soon.
Ann - you look fantastic! Very young and fit.
Sue - loved your Manchester bar story! You are such a cool chick!
Ulla - I wish I could wrap my arms around you and make you feel better and then I'd like to give your onk a tongue lashing for being so inflexible.
Went to a breast cancer forum yesterday. It was great - the guest speaker was a professor who specialises in lymphedema. It was so interesting and I leaned a lot.

Helloooooo ladies! It's another beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest. I was outside weeding, but am taking a break.
AE, I love your cubicle. Like Shirlann, it makes me miss working. My area was never as cute as that--though I had lots of pics of my kids and drawings they gave me. My friend and former co-worker, Ann, always had her cube decorated really cute with strings of lights and stuff. She always brought cookies and had a candy bowl with goodies in it--looooove her!!!!
I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with something about myself that you guys don't know. I've come to the conclusion that I'm totally boring!! I've dabbled in tons of things, but never stuck with much of anything. As I've mentioned, when I was younger, I enjoyed singing and art. I also was in drama club and performed in the school play my senior year. I wasn't popular or limber enough to be a cheerleader, but I was on the drill team my junior year. I was on a jewelry making kick once, and for a while I did ceramics. I played the flute in band during fifth grade, and my mom made me take organ lessons for about a year when I was about nine or ten. The most adventurous thing I've probably done is river rafting. That was fun. Also, I LOVE roller coasters!
One of the most exciting things that ever happened to me was when I lived in LA and worked for the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica. I worked in the Admissions office and one day a new student came in with a couple of older ladies to register for one of our programs. I didn't pay much attention to them--just kept working at my desk. When they were leaving, one of my co-workers said, "I loved you in Clara's Heart." At that point, I looked up and there was Whoopi Goldberg! She had been standing about a foot behind me for the past 20 minutes and I didn't even know it! that was pretty cool.
Take care everyone! Big hugs to Ulla--I hope you start feeling better, honey. Sue, you cracked me up with the "drunk in Manchester" story. Love to everyone I haven't mentioned by name. You know I love you all.
Hugs,
Karen

Sue, baby, now's not the time to be lsoing weight. Wait till treament is done. Some of the weight is from steroids. Eat well and nourish your body right now. It's fighting hard to kill bad cells. Dieting will stress it too much. Get exercise when you feel well, and not so tired.
Ask again when you're through with treatment, okay, and we'll help you as best we can!
I'm gaining weight on this Lyrica for nerve pain--typical side effect. After I worked so hard to shed some body fat before my exchange surgery. Well, it'll come off again...especially if I take more bike rides like I did today. 35 miles, and I swear we had a head wind, no matter which direction we were going!
Well, time for supper. I'm starved.
Get ready for a really good Monday, everyone!
Anne
-
I agree with Anne, Sue. Now isn't the time to worry about your weight. I know it's easier said than done, but you're almost finished with treatment. Focus on killing bootface now, and getting your gorgeous figure back later!!
Hugs,
Karen

What don't you know about me? Not much, but here's something. I've explored most of Idaho, Utah, and Western Montana, been all up and down the Pacific Coast, spent a month in Australia, stayed at Sammy Hagar's estate on Maui, but have NEVER been east of Billings, Montana. They tell me there are some interesting places out East.
Shirlann, of course you were a cheerleader! You still are, and very good at it. What would this place be without you?
Subee, my son took swimming lessons for eight years from one of the most wonderful women I have ever met. She's been doing synchronized swimming since she was a teen, and is now in her 80s. As of last year, she was still doing it! I admire you for doing it for ten years!!!
Nancy the sorority girl...that fits somehow, red hair and all. Do you stay in touch with your sisters?
Oh, Mel! What nice drawings. Keep it up, girl.
Anne, french horn is my all-time favorite instrument. Lots and lots of practice might be daunting, but wouldn't it be worth it to be able to give me a fabulous concert when I arrive?
Love the picture on the rocks. You are too cute! I've joined Constant Reader. Wow! It looks like a nice group of intelligent folks. I'm going to enjoy lurking there. Thanks for the info.
Sue, I'm with everyone else on the diet thing. Your body needs fuel for the fight. The extra weight can come of later. Patience, dear, patience. Oh, I forgot...that's not your greatest talent, is it?
Hang in there, anyway. Sounds like you do, indeed, have a lorra talent, especially in music.
Ulla, it feels strange not hearing from you much. But then everyone here seems to have cycles of ups and downs, posting and not posting. Just know you are loved and get the rest you need.
AE, what a positive environment you have created for yourself. No wonder you are able to help others create the same around here. You must be drawn to water. There is no better place for me to calm myself than the ocean.
Karen, somehow "boring" is not a word I would associate with you. You say you are boring then list several things that I find far from boring. I love the Whoopie story.
Today was spent with my youngest son, just hanging together. It was like a refreshing dip into sanity. He's set aside Tuesday and Wednesday for me, then he's starting his summer job and fishing, so no more long, lazy visits.
Have good Mondays all!

your sweet messages. The Photobucket I will try.
It looks like fun.I know Melody is always putting her
sweet pictures up,and I think that is so neat. I am
going to try it. Is there others besides Photobucket
as well? I downloaded Hotbar and this is neat too.

Sue, Hi it is Kaloni again. I was reading on an another thread that you are a triple Negative? I am too. Our cancers were very much
alike. But, I was a Stage 2. And, 1/6 nodes. I have studied alot about my own IDC, but, I have not learned a whole lot about the
Triple Negative breastcancers. I am all done with treatment and all now. I am just recooperating from my Hysterectomy I had on
May1. Yes, Menapause is slowly creeping up to me. Ha! They say Black Cohosh is great to take for the Menapausal symptoms, like
Hot Flashes. So, I am going to be taking that. Other than that, I do want to learn more about our Triple Negative Cancers.
So, I am back to my studying. Ha! Well get some rest.
And, do not get too drunk silly. Especially, in a gay village. Ha!
Bye sweetie.
God Bless You,
Love,
Kaloni

OMG - sorry about the pictures - hopefully the page will turn soon. Will catch up later - have a great day everyone!!

HELLO ALL!
I'm feeling much better. YEAH!
Still a little sore but at least I'm getting around and can do a few things.
You all are so creative, everyone has some sort of nack. Hope everyone is doing well?
Will post later son is sick today, at least i can still take care of someone. Even if he's only 8.
HUGS AND KISSES!
Suebee -
Morning sisters.
Sue..your story about getting drunk in a gay bar..made me laugh!! I bet the women found you hot!! Glad to hear you had a fun night out in Manchester. I agree with Judie & Anne, now is not the time to worry about losing weight. Wait until your tx's are completed. You will feel better and then you will be motivated to lose. Be patient..it will happen. Don't worry about the feeling of being finished. I felt that way too. I was excited to be done..but then there is the feeling of..what now?? That is so normal. But soon you will be feeling like...taking on the world. Especially you..with your spirit and on the go attitude..you will be doing just fine!
Suebee..glad to hear you are feeling better! Hope your son is too!
Karen..how dare you say you don't have talent!! Stop that! You have dabbled in art, you can sing...and you can ACT!! (now we know where Portia get's her talent). So there...you have lot's of abilities and we all know a heart of gold and a great "ear"! Glad to hear you love roller coasters...so do I!!! You'll have to come to Ohio...Cedar Point (amusement park here) is great, and has some of the best coasters!! We can ride and scream together!
Mel...I would have to take some pics of my drawings. Maybe I will...most of them are fairly old. I still have the ones I did when I was a kid. My dad has one of my favorites that I did in Junior high school, it's framed and hanging on his wall in his kitchen.
AE..your work space looks so warm and vibrant! I could work there...you definately have given it a good feel! My office is ugly and boring. But I don't spend that much time in it...I am always walking back and forth to the ticket counter etc...so out in the airport allot.
Hope you are all having a good start to your week. I am still trying to get things done around here. Do you ever feel like you never get a day off?? lol
Love to all, Jane, Shirlann, Wren, Nancy, Mia and anyone else I may have missed...you all know how I feel!
xoxo

Hey....that post didn't have any of symbols???
I wonder if this one will?? That would be great if they were gone!!
-
Darn...they are back! Why were they gone for one post??? OH well!
-
I finally got caught up with the posts since Friday.
somethings you don't know about me,
I played the flute and piccolo in the marching band.
I attended 3 different high schools in 4 years - Started 9th grade at Miami East High in Ohio, moved to Lexington NC and finished 9th through 11th there, moved to Statesville NC for my Senior year.
I also sing in the church choir as well as sing a few solos
I have tried a variety of hand crafts but now crocheting and quilting are my passions.
Sueebee - I love Topsail Island. When we first moved to NC in 1975 we went to Topsail Island and spent several fun weeks there in the campground. I will take that over the party time at Myrtle Beach.
-
Hi ladies! I'm having a rather "slow" morning. All the gardening I did yesterday has me tired and sore. I have several blisters on my hands from the raking. Ouch!!!!!
Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a great day! bbl.
Hugs,
Karen
