Hello All!!
Happy M's Day!!!
Well was suppose to go to my SIL's today for a BBQ but UB isn't feeling well so we cancelled. His fingers are bothering him and he has a nasty headache. #5 is this Thursday. He hopefully will have one more. He's getting closer to Emerald City.
Judy - hope today is a better day for you. Is a rough journey sometimes, I know. But chin up girl!!!
Jane - sending prayers your way.
Ulla - you look so happy at th BBQ. So glad you were able to get out and enjoy the day.
Lisa - hope all is going well in Chicago.
Karen - I have to tell you - I spent yesterday sanding and staining my dining room table - OMG - it looks GREAT!! I should have done it ages ago. Now I need to do the chairs. Why don't you try doing that with yours?? It looks totally different. Now I don't need to buy anything new for awhile. Who would have thought.........
I've missed many - I hope you are all enjoying Mothers Day with your families.
bbl,
AE

Happy Mother's Day to you all!
Ulla, you look like a living doll! I just want to hug you. It makes me smile to see you so happy with some friends. You must share these photos with your mother; she will see how beautiful you are and know you are doing well.
Sue, I can't believe they gave you a ticket! How do they expect you to unload stuff for work? Maybe your employer will pay your fine. I hope you get a break soon; I can't believe they are grinching at you for taking an extra day off for chemo, of all things.
Honey, I think I have a sinus infection too, darn it; and I was trying so hard to stay healthy.
I went to see my son last weekend at his university (and he'd been sick)... so I probably caught his germs. I spent last Saturday cleaning a bachelor apartment bathroom (yuk) and kitchen, plus doing his laundry, changing his sheets. I wanted to help him since he'd missed a week of work out sick and his place was a mess--because he is so busy with schoolwork...
I wouldn't trade my time there for anything though, even a stupid virus... Just need to hurry up and get better before my surgery date June 11th...
My daughter is coming over today for a short visit -- so then I will have seen them both in the last week! Yay!
Hugs to you all!
-
Oh AE give ub a kiss from me.... hes doing so well....my hands get sore and itchy and I feel like I have rubbed them with a brick!!! and my feet.... I hope he feels better with time ...just think we will both be goin thru it this week ....I am dreading it....its hard to go back after a 3week gap xxx
As for the sanding...dya know what you have given me a great idea to do mine!!! Do you sand with paper though...I am clueless...and I may dye mine a darker colour....woooo cant wait .... it will look new...I love the table...just got marks on it.......You're a true wondawoman ...LOL... x x x
Wren ... sorry to hear your ill...I hope you get well quick...I can't believe how fast your surgery is coming round...you will do great...and of course....its wonderful to see both your children in one week and know they are both ok...phew ..... its right hard being a mum isn't it xxx
Well I am off for a bath and to smother cream ...
Much Love xxx
AE..... I could sand the table with my hands alone the way they feell.. LOL
-
Hey Sue!!!
I will let UB know you are thinking of him.
My table had a glossy finish so I sanded with an electric sander. It was quicker that way. I used sandpaper on the spots I had trouble with. If yours isn't glossy sandpaer will be fine. Just make sure you wipe it down good when your done. And watch out for the dust - it gets EVERYWHERE!!! lol.
I'm worried you are working to hard - don't your bosses know you are going thru treatment??? Are they that insensitive???
Will you find out about rad's this week? I hope you don't need it. Just think - if you don't, your journey is almost OVER!!!

Happy Mothers day to all my dear sisters! I hope you all have a wonderful day.
We ended up not going to the zoo...went to a Thai restraunt for lunch, met my nephew there..and ended up sitting and talking for hours.
I will catch up with all of the posts. Just wanted to pop in and wish all of you a special day. We are heading out (rainy and cold here) for some deep dish pizza!!! Then off to see a movie.
much love,
Lisa
-
oh yeah....forgot what drinking several beers and staying out till 2am can do to you! Moving slowly today!
-
AE ...Thankyou !!! I am going to do my table...its a brill idea...my table is lovely anI never in a million years would have thought to sand it etc...I am going to dye it darker...it is glossy/shiny so I will buy an electric sander...oooh I am so excited LOL....a new piece of furniture...!! xxx
My bosses know I am treating...thats why they moved me to a quieter store..which is not much quieter...and thats what they said the day they took over...but he was right off with me....making remarks about having that extra day off...so when he called me today I told him that I didnt like him assuming I was a shirker...and he had the wrong idea...he ALWAYS gives me funny looks when I tell him I am having chemo...ass!!....GOD HES ..oh I cant explain.... ...we all feel like dogsbodies now...xxx
To be quite honest when I am done and dusted I may look for 2 part time jobs...and quit..the hours are so long and I miss my boys terribly...trouble is I have got used to the hi salary which has been a false sense of security in hind sight ....
I will more than likely find out on Tues if I have rads...they had a meeting about me and I think they want me to forgo it....I am hoping so .... I have decided not to argue for it...as you can only have it once...therefore if it comes back to the area I cant have it agian and chemo doesnt work on the chest wall...I read somewhere..
OH GOD I FREAKING HATE YOU BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT FREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAKING FACE!!!!!
I love you all and miss my time on here so much...xxx
Hopefully now things will settle at work and I am going to do the rotas so I have Saturday and Tuesday off...woohooo xxx

Ulla you are sooooooooo dear to me..you are an incredible inspiration to all of us....and I love you and respect you deeply xxx
I WISH NONE OF IS WERE GOING THROUGH THIS...I WISH WE COULD ALL GET TOGETHER ....I WISH I WISH
I don't know these past few days I have been feeling lil sad...the weather has been so beautiful ...and life is for living....yet we carry this dark PIGFACED BOOTFACE....what a miss match!!!
It slyly puts its smelly stinky ugly foot out and trips our minds up when we are not looking
IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi everyone, thank you dear Mel and everyone for your prayers and kind words about my mil. She is much better this morning and they are releasing her from hospital. They did a whole lot of tests but we don't know the results yet. Who knows what it was? Food poisoning from her lunch at the restaurant? We will see...
Oh Sue - so good to see you! I did laugh when I saw your pic of the long suffering mother dog with all those pups! So cute! I love the way she looks resigned to her role - she's quite chilled out! Must be all the oxytocin (sp?) hormone in her body! I also laughed over your ditching the wig - that poor old lady probably thought she was going crazy!! I bet you do look pretty without it - with your sweet face.
Then I got mad when I read how your boss thinks you are shirking! How DARE he!!! Oooooh I wish he was in a room with all of us - we would give him a good tongue lashing! He sounds inhuman and inhumane.
Now I must go back and read the rest of the posts.
Hugs to all
Jane xxx
-
Sue, I hope you are sleeping soundly because I know it is late for you.
But I must tell you as well as Ulla that things will get better. You must learn that after everything is said and done - your life will go on. Ugly bootface will be a thing of the past and you MUST move forward on your journey. Bootface has controlled you for far too long - its time for YOU to take control and live your life without fear and doubt. No one knows what the future will bring, but that doesn't mean we should live in fear. Live in the NOW and don't ever look back.
Love you bunches,
AE
-
Ulla, I hope your onky is reasonable when you talk to him about the tamoxifen and I will be thinking of you on Tuesday when you see your surgeon.
Suebee - will also be thinking of you and your surgery today (it's already Monday here). May everything go very smoothly for you.
AE - I'm so sorry UB is having trouble with his hands. I can't wait for the last two treatments to be over and he can have quality of life again.
Wren - you are a sweet thing to do all that for your son. I bet he loves you so much! So sorry you are sick though. Sinus infections are horrible! I had one for months once. Hope you feel better soon.
Jule - can't wait to see more pics of Libby! She sounds like such a sweetheart.
Mel - there are pink ribbons everywhere here too! You just can't escape them.
Judie - hope you are feeling better. Please come and vent on here if you want to.
Hi Karen, Kaloni, Annie, AnneNYC, AnnW (so many Annes!), Stephanie, Shirlann, Dawn, Sheila, Angie, Mia and everyone!
Saying special prayers for all of you who are facing sickness, sadness, drs appointments and treatments.
Love you all
Jane

AE and Sue - your tables sound great - I love doing up old furniture. I have an old oak table which is covered in dark varnish. I want to strip it back so the natural grain can be seen. It should look good in the kitchen in the mountains house.

Hello Sweeties, I want to let all you beautiful mothers out there a Very Happy Mother's Day! I do give you credit for all that hard work that goes along with motherhood. Take Care. Bye.
God Bless You,
Love,
Kaloni

It's late, so I don't have much time--must hit the sack. I just wanted to do a couple of shout-outs though.
Suebee, good luck tomorrow! I'll say extra prayers for you tonight.
AE, I hope UB starts to feel better soon. I'll be glad when he's finished up with chemo. It's such a misery, isn't it? I'm sure he can appreciate the fact that you know exactly what he's going through. Thanks for the suggestion regarding my dining set. That is a GREAT idea! I'm going to run it past my dh. He may not trust me to do a decent job, but I think I can do it!
Jane, I'm so glad you MIL is better. I wonder what she had? Could have been food poisoning. I had it once and it was NASTY!!
Ulla, I hope you and your onky can come to some sort of agreement tomorrow. Hang in there--things will work out for the best!
Sue, that boss of yours needs a slap upside his head if he can't understand your needing a day off to recover from chemo. What a jerk!!!!!!!
Love to everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Hugs,
Karen

Hello all!
Well today is another gray dreary day, and my surgery is about 2 hrs. from now. YUCK!
I just want to sit and cry! Just dropped the kids off to school, husbands working, and puppy is chewing everything. LOL My parents are taking me today, didn't want to bother anyone to go sit in a hospital.
They are not working today so they said they would take me. Hope it goes well? We'll see?
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Talk to you soon! HUGS AND KISSES!
Suebee -
Suebee-I know Ive missed you this morning but wanted to let you know I will be thinking of you today.....You will do fine sweetie....post when you feel up to it, but for now know that we are with you in our thoughts and hearts....
Hugs

I am trying to catch up on this thread since I my last day on was Thursday. I started out 3 pages behind, I currently am down to 1 page.
Anne, Happy Birthday. Glad you see you found this great group of supporters.

Hi Sheila! How was the weekend with your son? I'll bet it was wonderful having him home. I can only imagine what it must be like for you having him gone for months at a time like that.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Karen

Karen, yes it was great having him home. We have a tradition at the church, on Mother's Day, we put all the mother's names in attendance in a basket and at the end of the service draw for some hanging baskets of flowers and gift certificates for the steak house. My son was wearing his custom made pin stripe suit that he got in Puket. The preacher said that usually he gets one of the small children to draw the names but since we had a special guest attending, he wanted John to draw the names. John went forward and started drawing names. The preacher then started ribbing him that he better draw my name out or he would be in trouble. Unfortunately he did not draw my name but he bought my lunch anyway. Then they have all the Mother's come to the front of the church (I think we had about 45) and the children handed us small bedding flowers in cups, but the Preacher made John stay up with us and there were plenty of pictures taken with him in the middle of all the ladies and everyone left comes around and hugs each woman and wishes her a happy Mother's day. I got a few pictures on my 35 mm camera and as soon as I get the film developed, I will try and get them posted.
John has been in and out all weekend and probably all week going and seeing friends from school. I am taking small blocks of time off from work to see him when he doesn't have anything else planned. Tomorrow he is going to see his friends from the Avaiation Explorer group and one of the members who has his pilot's license is going to take him flying in the vintage plane that he and his father restored and at the monthly meeting, John is going to have a slide show of the helicopter on his ship in action. I always went with him to the meetings but I think I will let him go on his own.

First, congratulations to all the furniture refinishers! Good for you! It is so much fun to do something with your hands. Feels really good.
Ulla, sweetie, I hope this day goes well for you and you get helpful answers and good advice.
I LOVE the mama dog and her pups, that is the sweetest picture.
AE, give UB a big hug from me, dang frickin' disease! Tell him he has a whole posse of women cheering for him.
Sue, lovey, you sound so good, how close are you now to the finish? I think only one left, two? Not many. I remember the hands. Oh, don't you just hate those tickets? I asked for a handicap parking thing when I had BC, and my doc said "no". Humph, I was insulted. Is that #70 US or $70 UK? That is mighty high.
Sheila, you got your Mother's Day gift! You dear boy back in your arms, where he belongs!
San Diego is having it's "May Grey" I always feel sorry for people who come here on vacation this time of the year. Our summer is really August, Sept. and Oct. June Gloom comes next, it is just overcast, but believe me, this ocean out here is no Carribbean! It is 55 degrees Farenheit. COLD!!!!
Love you all and know you had a great Mother's Day.
Hugs, and kisses, Shirlann -
Quiet around here tonight..............
Just wanted to wish Sue -
One more to go after tomorrow!!!!!!
Love ya,
AE

Good Luck tomorrow, Sue. I'll be thinking of you. Hope everyone is doing well.

And, Melody, How in the world are you posting those cute images on here. I can not figure it out. If anyone can enlighten me on how to do this, that would be great! Take Care sweeties.

Ok ladies - here is a picture of my table -
Yes, that is Delbert looking out the window (his favorite pasttime).lol
The seat on the chair is what the table looked like before I stained it. The chairs are next!
AE
-
AE - I love your table! It's such a great colour - I love seeing the grain of the wood. The dark varnish on the chair is the same colour as the table I want to strip back. Delbert looks great in the background! He must really like keeping up with what is going on in the world outside this window!
Sue - hugs and best wishes for your treatment. You are so close to the Emerald City now!
Kaloni - I can sense your calm determination. I'm glad you are making progress - I'm sure it isn't easy.
Sheila - what a special time you had with your son and lots of photos to treasure!
Suebee - am thinking of you and hope you are recovering comfortably. Looking forward to seeing you back here soon!
Love to everyone. I have a busy day ahead of me so I will catch you all later.

I love redoing furniture. A few years back, I stripped a large trestle table we had in our kitchen. Back when all seven kids were at home, we needed a table with benches so we could all sit down for dinner. The benches are long gone (rowdy younger brothers destroyed them), but the table lasted. It was very dark, and when the kitchen was redone with a much lighter wood, it no longer went with it.
So I took it out, sanded it down, bleached it back to the natural wood color, and put about seven coats of polyurathane on the top, and painted the lower part colonial blue to go with the chairs I had. I looks terrific...I'll have to dig up some before and after pics.
Anyway, just as this conversation about refinishing started, my father announced that he wanted to replace the table with one that my brothers brought from their apartment. I was heartsick! Here was the table I had spent several weeks refinishing, and which looks gorgeous, being replaced by something my brother picked up at a dinette store...and the reason? The new table is expandable with a leaf.
I'm seriously upset. My brother's table is much wider, the chairs are huge, and our kitchen dining area is not that big. By the measurements, it's 5" wider and we already get complaints from people who have to get around the table when we're seated. And silly me, I just don't want to see my table tossed out or sold. I think I will be vindicated in the end when they try to fit the other one in.
Anyway, I had my breast MRI today, and I have to say, I did have a slight case of claustrophobia initially. It was something about the way the gown was arranged that it puffed up around my face that set it off. And the noises!! I was expected the loud clunking/clicking that everyone has mentioned, but did you have sirens and whistles, too? This machine did, and everytime one went off it set my pulse racing and I thought I'd have another bit of claustro again.
But it's done!
Sheila, what a Mother's Day gift to have your son safe at home. I can't think of anything better!
Suebee, hope the surgery went well.
Sue, almost there, girl!
Off to help my daughter with an art project. I thought this kind of stuff was over with elementary school.
-
Looks like allot of you will be stripping in the near future!!! lol
Mel - hahahaha - You thought that was Delberts butt??? He's big, but he's not THAT big!! What you saw was the backpack UB takes with him when he goes for his chemo.
Nancy - I would be heartbroken as well. DO NOT get rid of the table -if you can try to store it somewhere. I would love to see some pictures.
Sheila- I'm so happy your happy.
Off to bed I go,
TTYT,
AE
