I can't get my act together and I don't know why

I am never going to get MY act together, but I have fun trying.  I found someone who can use the 4 book cases I cleaned off.   Books were donated, many things were shredded and why I ever kept them in a mystery.  Photos got put in albums.  Craft stuff got put in small chest of drawers (hidden and out of sight).  Yarn is in a suitcase (why have it sit there empty), I am not planning a trip till August.  

I too have been mia, but NOT for lack of caring and wondering how everyone is.  Just busy buzzing around and getting my taxes done.   Thursday I go for a Herceptin tx and a MUGA scan.  Whoever thought  a MUGA scan would become "routine", when I never heard of one before all this.

Hi,

Sue,  I hope that you can relax during your 2 weeks of retirement before your DIEP. Glad to see you again. I hope that all goes well for you during your surgery. Please let us know how you are doing. I was very nervous about my bilateral mx with TE the morning that I went in. It is now over a year for me and all that is left to do is the tatooing at the end of May. They feel more like a part of me all the time and almost feel natural most of the time. Funny, but I cannot even remember what my old boobs looked liked. Thank Heaven that the PS took before pictures of me. When I am all completed I am going to post pictures on the picture site.

Harley, I have been meaning to get myself posted on Facebook but just cannot get it together long enough to do it.

My taxes have not been done for 2 years now, 2008 and 2007. I really must get that started soon. I did clean out the bill/paper junk drawer today as it had been 2 years I am sure. Could not find anything that I was looking for and could barely close it. I also found a bunch of overdue bills. Mmmmmmmm. Must pay them. Also I had to vacuum today as the DD has been in the backyard and in the pond and getting mud on the back door carpet. I love spring but not the mud.

Kerry, thanks for the wishes!! (Where IS wish?  does anybody have her phone number?)

 My surgery is Wednesday morning (Tax day, Kerry!).  I will post when I can, but according to the nurse I will be pretty out of it for the first 24 hours after surgery.  Apparently a 10 hour surgery makes one tired. (Although that seems strange because I will be asleep for the surgery.  But it does make sense that the surgery is physically demanding.) I will wake with four drains, a morphine pump and :pain pumps" that pump lidocaine to the incisions.  And apparently I will be in bed, with a catheter until Saturday morning. YUCKO....

I need a special dispensation to get my house really clean before the surgery, so it doesn't bug me when I get home and can't do anything about it.  Patrice?

Sue, make sure they send you home with home care ordered.  So that a nurse, nurse's aides, etc. can come right to your house.

Best of luck on Wednesday. I will be thinking of you. When in bed remember to wiggle your toes and feet, write the alphabet with your toes to get the blood pumping. I do home visits and I would come and visit you post op but I live and work in Ontario, Canada.  I have until the end of April to get my 2008 taxes done. I am only about a year behind. I am going to try and do both years back to back so that is why I am procrastinating so badly. I will be buried in papers for days. Post when you feel up to it. I am sending you healing feelings.

My sister married a guy from RI and they are moving back there on May 15th. He is from Tiverton, RI and I think that they will be close to Tiverton and they did manage to get ocean front. Could be a summer trip for my family sometime. I love New England.

My Aunt Charlotte, who has been a nurse for 45 years, is coming to help out in the hospital and at home.  She's staying for a week after the surgery, then my sister-in-law is coming for a week.

I am from Ontario Canada, and have filed my taxes for this year.  And now they are telling me I made  $22,000 more than I actually did because they had to issue the same cheque for $11,000 three times.  We got this cleared up and even got the refund.  And this year they are claiming the same $22,000.  My hubby going bonkers trying to get this rectified.

Hope ya'll don't mind me dropping in.  I had my exchange surgery on Sept. 30.  I absolutely hate the heaviness of my boobs, their uncomfortable, it feels as if their just pulling on me, I have a hard time sleeping so I have to keep adjusting them, when I find a top that fits my boobs it's too big everywhere else.  I hate to think of having to lug these big things around for years!  I used to be an "A", now I'm a 32D

I talked to my PS and he said he could only go 50cc smaller and that wouldn't make much difference, so we just decided on the revision to left boob which is laying partly under my arm.  He doesn't want to mess much with the pockets.

My family says I just have to deal with it.  I am so f@#$ing tired of having to just deal with it!  I'm so thankful that my cancer was found and removed so maybe I shouldn't even be complaining. 

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for me to vent about this.  If it's not, I'm truly sorry.  Thanks!

2NewBoobs  I believe you can vent wherever you like!  My sister had breast aumentation several years asgo and she wanted like a B-C cup but she also has Ds.  She was not happy but I don't think she minds them anymore.  I know an augmentation is a hell of a lot different that a reconstruction.

Why can't they give you smaller implants?  You should be happy with what you want not what your PS wanted.  I would know more about implants but I lost my expanders due to infection and will not undergo another attempt for many months, so I don't know why they can't change them to small ones.

Dream - I had an ex-boss who had been fighting with the US IRS over $8,000 for 8 years.  He just copied the letter of explanation from the first year and kept sending it to them every year with his tax returns.

kmccrawl - Thanks!  Things are better this morning.  I think it's just one of those things that really get to me at times (like last night) and I needed to vent.  I also keep hoping to get to the point that I don't mind them anymore.  I'm sure I will!

2New Boobs, have you tried using a sports bra for sleeping?  I used the nice soft cotton ones that are made of material similar to a heavy t-shirt about 1 size bigger than I would have used during the day for the first 8 months after surgery.  The bra kept things in place, so I didn't get that feeling that they were pulling that bothered me and woke me up.  I went from a 40DD to a 40C, so mine are smaller than the originals, but the weight of the implants is something that takes time to get used to. 

I'm now a year out, and sleep comfortably without any added support, although jumping jacks still feel uncomfortable.  There are enough longer term survivors in my exercise class who do them, so I'm sure that will come too, these things just take time.

PatMom - I actually just bought a regular cotton sports bra and am wearing it around the house today.  My boobs don't feel as heavy with it on.  I don't own any other bras because my PS told me I wouldn't need to wear bras (I thought "Yay, no bras).....but, he just didn't tell me I'd feel so heavy! 

I guess it will just take more time.  Thanks

Going from an A to a D cup is a big change. Maybe if you wore a bra during the day then you would feel better in the chest area. For me not being able to wear bras during the expansion process because my size was always changing brought out the "bra crazy" in me. All I would want to shop for was nice pretty bras. Even now my PS tells me that I do not need to wear a bra and I told her that it was all about fashion. Funny, takes loosing your boobs to appreciate all the beautiful bras that are being made now. Maybe even having an implant swap down by the 50cc would help. Hope that you feel better. They do take time to get used to. My exchange was last June 08 and now mine are starting to feel more like they are me. Will never feel like the originals though. But I am O.K. with that now. It is an adjustment.

You look GREAT. Nice shape and so soon after surgery and a cleavage also. Your PS did a great job. You must be really pleased. How was the surgery? I had also thought about DIEP. I asked my PS if implant reconstruction did not work then could DIEP be done. She told me yes. Time to celebrate. What a long haul it has been for you. Happy news is good.

Truthfully? Waking up from the surgery was the worst pain I have ever felt.  (I had two babies without drugs). Then I could only have ice chips for twelve hours in case there was a flap problem and I had to go back into surgery.  I was in bed for all of Thursday on a catheter and getting up Friday morning was an adventure.  BUT, comparing the recovery from my mast last year with this recovery, I can really tell that I am a well person now.  I don't just feel reconstructed, I feel restored.  I totally didn't expect this, but a lot of the fear of a recurrence is gone--how did reconstruction make that go away?  I don't understand it, but I'll take it!

Looking good!  Really, they look MARVELOUS! 

I don't know... my fear of recurrence still fluctuates, but I think I did feel better right after my reconstruction surgery.   Oh, and yes, that reconstruction was painful!!  If I knew beforehand how painful it was gonna be, I probably wouldn't have done it. 

But, here I am now, and in March, I celebrated my 2 year cancerversary, of my bc dx.  I seem to be doing ok.
