Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF Day! Another cold one here, I'm afraid. But such is life in the winter in Maine. Not as cold as some places, though. Temps supposed to go up to the 30's later today as the wind picks up. Makes me glad to be working in a nursing home! Sadie says Hi to everyone!

Genny--ANorable is so bid now!And the baby sister is so sweet!I take Sadie in to work with me from time to time, too. Isn't it amazing how effective they are at training us? Hope you had a good day at work.Sadie says "Woof, Woof, Bark, Bark, Woof" to Hazel and Harvey!

Jazzy--I will definitely look into a gas fireplace when I start the change. Will have to see how much of a job that would be.I can imagine the folks you were working with are looking for someone safe to talk to with all that's going on. Sounds like lots and lots of change, and it probably feels pretty sudden to everyone there. Drama management, indeed! I never thought of that as a work skill, but it really is!

Goldie--Yup, the dryer is not useable. Well, it's useable in that it will tumble clothes, but no heat, so drying is a very, very long process in there! So glad to hear the fever broke, that will make you feel so much better. So your son has met his sperm donor and met a half sister. I wonder what he thinks of it all. I'm assuming he knew about the first husband/sperm donor, then adoption sequence already. As you say, it will be interesting to see where this goes.

    Cammy Cat--LOL!!

    Mornin ladies,

Lori I think this thing takes a little while to completely get rid of, it just takes time so just rest. But good the fever broke, that's a start. It really sounds exactly what my niece had all the way in IL, but u didn't catch it from her. She stayed away for 2 weeks and said she feels fine now. Lori u have to tell us how this meeting goes, did ur son know he has a 1/2 sister too. That's missing a lot in his life.

Oh Genny Nora and Evelyn are beauties for sure. U must have so much fun with them as u should. Wow Nora has grown so much I remember when she was so tiny. And ur furbabies are of course so cute, they know how to pose perfectly. Everything seems to be going well for you and I'm so happy.

20YEARS Kim u crack me up, why bother now??? As soon as dryers came on the scene I was and using them, I was little and my mom bought it. And I can't imagine doing without one. Wow never think about where all the germs are, I stay in my room pretty much but can still catch something from just all of us. I luv how u come home to Sadie she's so happy to see you <or mad> cuz of missing u to much. She's so sensitive.

Jazzy u sound good and yay on the diet. I'm throwing in an opinion here, I think u should go next week, oh not for the gossip, altho that does sound inviting to me, but for any contacts u might make. U never know when they'll come up so try to push urself to go, it's an option that can prove good for you. So just think about it anyway.

OK question with no judgements anyone, how do u treat a bedsore, I've forgotten.

And where is everyone, and Sandy ur DOTD for ur nite???And I miss Dara and Sue too. DARA DARA DARA I'll try.

    OH TGIF today.

    LUBS U ALL

NM, has that dryer not worked in 20 years? I don't think I would even use it w/o heat. Sorry to chuckle, but I find this a bit funny.

Cami, I forget what they used on my mom for bed sores. I'm sure NM will chime in with some help. I asssume it's on your heiny? Can you get one of those donuts to sit on, to keep it from getting worse (if that's where it's at). Otherwise, one of things I remember from back in the day when I worked in a nursing home was magots!

Things are fine with my son and the meeting of the new family. I'm just going to copy here what I put on FB.

Jason has known this most of his life. We told him when he was like 7 and when he was told, he was like "meh". Had no questions, all was good. It's just been in the last few years that he became friends with his half brother through FB and it escalated from there. We were always very open with him in regards to this, and he probably never mentioned it just because it didn't enter his mind, not that he didn't want anyone to know. So, that being said, because of FB, he has united with a family he didn't know, he just knew of them.

I'll be back in a bit to share some before and after pics! Sperm donors name is Brian. I dated him in HS, got married when I was 19 and had Jason when I was 21. Brian began cheating on me 6 months after our marriage, and ended up marrying that gal, her name Lynn, and they had 3 children, 1 boy and 2 girls. Lynn passed away a few years ago, I forget how, but know it was some disease.

Well, now that the fever is gone, my sinuses are starting to drain, so I'm coughing and blowing my nose constantly so as not swallow all that nasty stuff! And now getting sore from all the coughing. I have MO and labs next week, wondering how this bug is going to affect those, and no way to know....ugh!

Goldie - So glad you are feeling better. Might be worth it to take a couple of extra days to get truly over it. Love the pics! I think we had the same bouquet. It is great that your son is finding the family. Things like that should always be out in the open so people can choose what to do.
Cami - A bedsore needs to be kept very clean and dry. Try not to put any more pressure on the area until it heals. I am sure there is more, but not sure what.

I got the results of my scans this morning. No cancer found anywhere. There is some slight shadowing in the lung from the SBRT rads, but NOTHING else. MO agreed to a chemo vacay until mid-March and the next set of scans. That should help the neuropathy and some other silly side effects. He said the various supplements I have added are ok. They are mainly for my overall health as I want to do things that will make my body more able to fight any progression. The MO is still not a believer in anything other than chemo, but the door may be cracking. He mentioned (and this is the only time he has said this) that he/we may have killed it. Would be quite the outlier, but it is possible. I give him and chemo 60% of the credit and myself the rest. I have worked to be healthy (exercising, healthy eating, moderate drinking, etc.), participated in my treatments, and looked for ways that I could assist the MO. Not to mention having a positive outlook. I do not mean being giddy all the time. Rather knowing that by informing myself and learning about cancer I could control the outcome. I plan to be around a great deal longer! Tonight’s dinner is fillets, baked sweet potato and merlot. Might have champagne, too

Hi friends- well I started a post and then hit something that closed my browser and POOF! Hate when that happens, but too many windows open hangs my computer up. Will try again here!

TGIF and we have made it through the first full week of January. I was out to the dentist early for a cleaning and came away with a good check up! BP was really good today (116/60) too, which I attribute to a few things; the diet gets a lot of junk out of your system the first week including excess salt/water and I think the current break from work helps too. My PCP could always tell if I was on a contract or not based on my BP. It has not been bad for awhile now (also take a low dose of Linsinopril), but that was a really good number. My teeth are a bit sore from the cleaning, so I am not able to eat much for lunch today, but making sure I get some something in me to stay to eating three meals and day plus a healthy snack in between meals. Still down four pounds, hoping for a total of five by the end week #1 (Sunday).

Goldie- thanks for sharing your story about your son. I like the pics you shared. Was the THEN photo taken in the 1970s? I think I see some of the flip curl we all had back then, what would we have done without our curling irons? I hope your son finds a nice connection with this half brother. I have had several friends discovered half siblings via having their DNA done the past few years. Finding more family through time can be a nice thing as we get older, he might be more interested now. Sounds like the crud is pushing it's way through.

NM- do you use a clothesline to dry your items? My mom always did, I also did when I had a place back east that worked well for that. I love the aroma of blankets, sheets, or anything outside in the fresh air for awhile. Hi back to Sadie too!

Cami- I think you are right and probably going to sign up for the meeting next week. I just could not get my head around it this week, trying to not think about work stuff. There is a breakfast with another group I plan to join this year (dropped another one recently that has no value) and that is early the same day. Then I have been asked to be on a local board for another group and said maybe, tell me more and that is later on Friday. To your point, all these events represent an opportunity to network. I am taking your advice sister.

Been making some big progress wading through my to do list. Got a lot of the kitchen cabinets cleaned out and deep cleaning, plus things to be fixed in motion. Got to get some things done and then plan to chillax for awhile. Been a good week of getting myself refocused on the big picture and back to better eating too!

Enjoy your slide in to the weekend friends....

Jazzy, you should have tried the "control" "z" trick, it works. And it was 1977, graduated HS in 76!. I didn't use a curling iron, I had a dryer with a brush on it, and that was how I got my flip. My son has not met the half brother, just one of the sisters and bio dad. Good to be able to take a break from the work world, and keep up the good work on the diet. I hang everything to dry, whether outside or even in the house and LOVE the way it smells, so fresh. Crud is moving on, but still no energy and just resting, because I have no energy!

I have labs on onc appt next week.....yikes!

    Mornin ladies,

Good to see u pooping in Karen, I miss you.

I'm not here much in the daytime, but for some reason I came in yesterday and really got lucky. Lori those pics. are priceless, but who was in the last pic., I missed that really. I hope ur feeling stronger today.

Wow Saturday already, Jazzy one week down and a lot got done. U know I have the top drawer in my dresser that has been stuck for at least 3 yrs. now, and I was just wondering what was in there. Maybe I should get someone to try to open it. See how I procrastinate then again maybe I hid big money in there, yea right, but it is starting to get to me. Finally.

JC it's nice to hear ur taking a break from Chemo, except I disagree with ur math. To me it's more like 50/50 how well ur doing ATTITUDE is big.

OK lets start the weekend with Kim's DOTD when she wakes up after a night of cuddling.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! A bit gray and gloomy here, but warmer and things are melting off before the big deep freeze ice storm comes in tonite. Expecting the power to go out with this one, so will be doing some prep work today so I can have my hot cup of coffee tomorrow ayem. Sadie is acting a bit antsy, so I know this storm is real, either that or something funny is going on in the neighborhood. And since nothing ever goes on in this neighborhood, I'm betting on a storm coming in. We shall see!

Cammy Cat--That's been my attitude toward the dryer, too, "why bother".I may still just have it taken out and build in some shelves or something! It amazes me when I stop and think of all the things/places my hands touch that could have germs on them, and how infrequently some of them get cleaned in public places. Bedsores are treated by keeping theperson off the affected area as much as possible, changing position every couple of hours, and dressings or ointments, depending on how deep the bedsore is.

Goldie--nope, the dyer hasn't worked in 20 years, and hasn't been plugged in for more than 10. Been using it as a counter. And go ahead and laugh, it really is kind of funny!Well, seems like your son has just followed a line of curiosity and either found or was found by that side of his genetics. It seems pretty natural to be curious about them, and Fb and other social media make finding people pretty easy these days. Glad your fever is gone, sorry you are dealing with the nasty drainage, but at least it is draining and getting moved out of your system! It will be interesting to see how it affectsyour labs next week.

Librarian--WOW. To think you may be in the outlier group and be (dare I use the word?) cured? Definitely a champagne worthy thought! I am so happy for you!And I take comfort in knowing that this can happen with the state of the art in oncology today, it means there is an outside chance of a true cure being developed in my lifetime. And I like the way you've apportioned the credit!

Jazzy--I do use a clothesline. I have one right outside the kitchen door, at the end of the deck. When the weather doesn't cooperate I have a rack that I hang clothes on and aim a big floor fan on them, they will dry, even jeans, overnight. About once every year or two I get really desperate and lug a load to a laundrymat to run through a dryer. This system has worked really well for me for decades, no need to change now, right?

    Morning, Karen!

    Ice Storm

1/2 oz of 151 proof rum

    2 oz of Strawberry Schnapps

3 scoop of vanilla ice cream

2 cup of crushed ice (or ice)

    1/2 of banana

    5 of strawberries

Take all the ingredients and place them in a blender. Pour into two 16 oz. glasses and relax.

    Goof morning Loungettes!

Sadie and I are getting up to a lovely rainy drippy wet blowy day. I found a spot where there’s some rain leaking in down in the basement. Looks like the old house needs a little TLC. Sadie and I are planning on having a very laid-back day today.Hoping everybody else is tucked up warm and comfy.

    Mornin' ladies

Teka glad to see u poop in an it took Jazzy this time. I hope ur doing well.

Jazzy that pic. was funny and kind of scary too. LOL

Thanks Lori u know I have to know whats going on. OK ur first husband looks older for sure, why don't you, Miss Dorian grey. Sounds like my sister has the same thing u have day by day. She's finally feeling better, but her energy is still low. So many people have this chit now and she told me some are getting it twice that she knows. There's really no telling where anyone would catch this.

Kim thanks for the input and ur dryer is still funny, especially where u live. U seem to have more bad weather than we do but I guess if ur used to it and like that I give my permission LOL

Well I talked to my sister last nite, our usual 2 hr talk. Her grandson in the Seals was sent away when all this happened <no one knew where> but he''s back and he face times my sister at least 3x a week and told her he's engaged!!! If u knew him u would say no way he's 26 so old enough and she's 25 and from Argentina originally, what the hell she's doing there I have no idea. He never even told his parents first, so my niece really feels bad. And they moved in together, which is another WOW for him. Of course we don't know much about her hopefully he does. This could be on a reality show. Of course my sister and I are skeptical but not telling anyone else in the family how we feel. I am just shocked cuz he also wants to get married in Argentina for her and the way he's going sounds like soon. But u have to know my sister and I pull apart a lot of things with no proof. America here we come for someone anyway.

Our weather has been icky snow and rain, sleet and cold. Not much snow as they predicted but just plain icky but it is January so we have to get some crap going on. It's funny cuz Sandy can get a bit different kind of weather than I do and she doesn't live that far, but she's close to the lake changes lots of things. Was Sandy going someplace that I forgot???

OK enough blabbering for now have a great day, Misty how r u doing.Celia, Janice and more just interested.

Cami, who is Miss Dorian Grey. My ex was 5 years older than me. And I really don't even count that as a marriage of mine. I am getting better, my energy level is all over the place, up and down. Went to bed last night at 5:30 and got up at 5:30, 12 hours! Saw the soup Les made, did Joey help?

Hi friends, baby girl checking in. I read often but post less these days. I tend to frequent BCO less when DH is home, hanging with him and staying busy instead. Heading to Laughlin in a couple weeks, free flight and hotel for two courtesy of Cesar’s. I post my adventures and cocktails for sure. Also planning for my 45th birthday next month but nothing set yet as there are some questionable findings on my last brain MRI, might need more detailed imaging. Not symptomatic, so not terribly concerned, just don’t like uncertainty.

Anyway, feeling good, wishing you all well and enjoying all the funny cat pics 😁

Hello, all. Took awhile for me to pop back in. Jazzy, Goldie and Cami: Retirement is great! 1st month flew by, with prep for visit from DD, prep for holidays, a couple of holiday lunches, finishing up CPE and enjoying NO WORK. For the first time in 12 years, no 6:30 am physical inventory counts for the 1st three weeks in December! Hope to do some traveling soon. This past week, have been checking out Silver Sneakers options & the various gyms I can join (LA Fitness, Crunch, Planet Fitness & the Y - Lots of exercise options). Becoming more physically fit in 2020 is one of my goals.

Cami - Love the cats! I want that grey kitten.

JCS - Yeah for the chemo vacay! Will be coming through Columbia on the way to Charleston towards the end of May.

Jenny/Mary - Glad to hear from you, so sorry about your SIL. Maybe we can connect next time I am in NE Ohio area to visit relatives/friends.

Goldie - Re: the then and now pics - You have aged well!

    Bye for now. Cheers!

It has been raining here now for two days. Tornado hit just north of us. Struck a high school, but it was late at night. Went out to dinner tonight to celebrate my SIL’s birthday. She has three grown children. Found out one niece is divorced for the third time! This girl is only 45 years old. She has very bad taste in men. Always good to catch up with people. This is my DH’s sister and only living sibling. There have not always been good feelings between the two of them.

Will be doing some freezer cooking next week. My friend may be on her way home from Pittsburgh with her rebuilt kneecap. I want to take some things over so she does not have to worry about cooking. Her recovery has been pretty iffy and I think she needs to take it easy for a while longer. Will be making some travel plans of my own. I need to go to Houston to visit family and some friends. It will be so nice to skip the once a week chemo sessions!

My Internist called on Saturday to ask how things were going. He had gotten a note from the MO about my latest scans and being released from chemo for a while. The Internist was really happy. He had been the one to diagnose the cancer and it really upset him. I will see him for my physical this month and will discuss things in more detail. Nice to have the support!

    Take care everyone!
