Beautiful view, Ilona (and the mountains aren't exactly chopped liver, either).
Lori, I hope Jennifer is on the mend soon. All those huge fibroids--OUCH!
Cami, about that LOLCat meme about the "toona" extortion--my two furkids are not the most enthusiastic of pescatarians. They will, however, claw you six ways from Sunday for poultry wet food.
Gordy & Leslie are back from Montana (their second trip, and they're justifiably enchanted with--wouldn't be surprised that if they were to tie the knot, it'd be a destination wedding at the lake near Ennis). Now they're at Lollapalooza. Every year, Gordy swears he's getting too old for the crowds, heat, dehydration and sometimes strong storms. And every year he buys another 4-day pass. This time, Leslie's favorite bands are playing and she'd never been, so they're having a grand time...in utterly perfect weather. And they're allowed to bring empty bottles, to fill from the fest's free (finally!) water bubblers.
I knew I couldn't have had a kidney stone--everyone I knew who had them said it was the worst pain they ever had (one said men get it because they can't get labor pains). My pain was just annoying. And it disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. It didn't move, either, so I suspect it was costochondritis from that tickly night cough I had when the pollen & mold counts were off the charts. As to the clear urine at night and yellow in the morning, Bob explained that if you go so many hours without voiding, the urine tends to get concentrated. Guess sleeping through the night comes with not having a prostate.
Tomorrow will be crazy-busy: get up early to make the insalata Caprese for the block party brunch (can't refrigerate it or the tomatoes will get mealy), then head down to Beverly (far S. Side) for our friends' annual backyard BBQ. For the first time, all the tomatoes & basil in the salad will have come from my own garden--had 8 tomatoes ripen w/in a day of each other. Meanwhile, the neighborhood "EdgeFest" will be happening all weekend: lots of loud live music, food & beer stalls, drunk people thronging the street (4 blocks long) and having to pay $5 just to walk through. So I plan to avoid it. Of course, nobody can have block party guests because all the otherwise available street parking will be unavailable due to street closures. Glad we have a garage. But it will take us longer than usual to get to Beverly because we'll have to avoid Lake Shore Drive (Lolla street closures).
Been plagued with fruit flies. They're everywhere in my kitchen--even tried to get into the kitties' wet food, and I had to shoo one out of the fridge. Can't keep stuff out while prepping food for cooking--have to stick it in the microwave every step of the way. We had to take the compost bin out, Clorox it and its filters and then hose it down. Exterminator put out glue traps near where he thought the nests were, but the little buggers weren't going near them. So I put some orange slices, wine, and sugar in a Solo cup and topped it with one of the traps. Got about 10 flies, but still not enough. Will hang flypaper ribbons in the morning, (Can't use the hanging fly-killing successors to No-Pest Strips because the vapors could harm the kitties),
Last night's DOTD was Jean Paul Gascogne Rosรฉ. Tonight, seltzer.

Thank you everyone. I am just going to jump in. DD is home, drain is out, she is quite sore. Not sure when she is going back, they told her 2 weeks recovery. I'm thinking that is just for the incisions, she had a lot done and lots or rooting around in her tummy. I guess my biggest concern is the kidney and the tumor they removed. I think I'm rested up, I was so tired yesterday. After the movie we had pizza and soda. I can not do caffiene except in the morning. I didn't go to bed until like 8:30. Don't laugh! I do get up early, usually around 4 am. The movie was good, tons of action and some humor. Hobbs and Shaw with Dwayne Johnson, how can you not like him???

Mornin' ladies
Lori I don't blame u for not sleeping and of course her dad didn't really know what to do. But I think any kind of stomach area operations are more painful. Every move u take uses a muscle there. Gettin up standing, walking, even putting slippers on let alone a robe. I'm so glad her youth is on her side and u too. It's so hard to be so far, cu u want to know every step of the way. Just talk to her as often as u can and know she'll start feeling better soon. And also know all the prayers going ur way.
JC startin up again ugh... I still remember the young woman I met and I felt awful for her she was only 19, she was't sleeping so of course I talked to her, damn she was so sad and I had to talk to her Dr. But u sound like ur having a good attitude, keep that going, it helps so much. And ur DH sounds so supportive, it'll all be good.
Sandy Llalapoluza is looking great, I like how a few kids snuck in Jeez..They couldn't have better weather dor sure I have to say looking at some overview angles it was way to many people. Gordy and Leslie are brave souls just walking around, they should have a rope. Oh and they had a great time on vacation too. Wow this is a love story unfolding in front of us. This makes me happy. So many fruit flies, there has to be a better way to get rid of them, I hate them. U've got a lot of plans going on good for you, u 2 must be a fun couple to hang with. Glad ur feeling better
Well our guy at work is off all week, that means I work all week. I got so used to my smaller version, now it's back to all day and evening. I know I'll be crying this week, I'm not used to it.
Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sadie and I had a wonderful sleep in, didn't get up until after 7 ayem! Felt soooo good.Would have slept longer but boy did I have to pee!The humidity has dropped off, and there's a nice little breeze, making the 73 degrees feel wonderful!Sadie is outside basking in the sun between making the rounds of the yard and supervising the neighborhood.
Cammy Cat--Planning to work on some yard stuff today taking advantage of the change in the weather. Your guys are VERY good to you!Enjoy the hot tub, it's been years and I still miss mine. Congrats to the guy with the new baby!
Goldie--I'm sure this surgery is more painful that the other, there was a lot more done and a lot more of her insides were handled. Glad to hear she's been up walking, that's the best way to avoid most post-operative complications. Still saying prayers for all of you.
Jazzy--good info about the drain.
Librarian--I'll make sure Sadie gets the extra pats today and tell her who they are from. I think she likes our evening ritual of pats and belly rubs and talking about who sends what kind of puppy luvin! Hope the SBRT scheduling works out inyour favor. Having things to look forward to is a lot of fun.
Illi--WOW, what a view!
Chi--all the tomatoes and basil for the salad from your own garden, what a treat! Sounds like a lot of work to just get to the neighbors, but it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Fruit flies are not fun to get rid of, are they?
Goldie--Glad to hear DD is home.I bet she is sore! What movie did you see? Never heard of any of the actors you mentioned.
Cammy--hang in there, you'll do just fine at work this week! Was the baby a girl or a boy?
Teka--too true, time is flying by way too fast!

NM, I mentioned the movie. Hobbs and Shaw. Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)

Good morning/afternoon friends- Jazzy is home and having a quiet weekend to catch up on things and also stay out of the sun with her laser treatment on her face yesterday. No sunshine or vigorous exercise and the worst, alcohol for 48 hours! What? I have done this before and forgot about the booze part and was looking forward to a nice class of white wine I have been working on in the fridge. Maybe tomorrow night, but Monday is a work day so no partying. Monsoons are back doing there thing and some pretty big storms and rain last night, and more due this afternoon. The moisture is cooling things down.
Goldie- so glad your DD is home. Now you must encourage her to take it easy with that incision. It will take more like month vs. weeks for that abdominal incision to heal. No lifting, pulling, pushing for a long time. Your daughter sounds like she will want to be up and going quickly, but getting that area healed up right is key. Praying for the path report to be good news and that the worst is over for her.
The Rock was here filming something this spring and was seen often hanging out at the gym in Farmington and interacting with the local where he was filming in the Four Corners area. Everyone says he is a nice guy, and fortunately, we are used to movie stars filming here and seeing them around so most people are friendly but don't bug. I can't imagine being in the gym and pumping iron next to him though (have you seen those arms????)
NM- glad you were able to sleep in today, you needed that! I hate when the bladder drives the get up plan but so it goes with being a certain age. I hope Miss Sadie gets a trip to the water to swim, maybe you will go too? Are you still doing your house clean out or did the dumpster finally go away?
JCS- how are you feeling this weekend after your latest chemo treatment?
Chi- destination weddings are fun for sure! I have not been to Montana, but spent time in WY and such a beautiful place in the summer months. I have fruit flies too, and have to keep my fresh fruit off the counters to keep the bugs down this time of the year.
Cami- it sounds like Dan the Man is going to be away so you are on FT for the week? What does the fam having going on this weekend?
Ill- I like that view you have going on. Tell us more after you visit that location that is your fav place?
Teka- it is tax free weekend here for three days with the start of school on the horizon and I was in a store yesterday after my treatment and saw a lot of Halloween things already. I feel ready for fall as I get tired of the heat, but don't have my Halloween costume ready. Love your gardening photos on that other thread....
There were about 8 balloons in the hood this morning. One flew right over the patio and will post a photo next!
-
I get my own personal balloon fiesta some mornings

Jazzy, Jennifer had 6 small incisions and then the big one she had in March, they had to recut the spot around her belly button and extend it upwards to get some of fibroids out. I guess the surgeon and nurses were cussing her fibroids. She had a lot of rooting around in her tummy! She says this one was more painful than the other, and for some reason, her arm hurts like the dickens!
-
Oh Goldie - I understand better. Sending much love for a speedy recovery ๐โค๏ธ
-
Margaritas later but here are some pics of my favorite place, Balmorea State Park. This giant pool was built around a natural spring in the 30โs and you can swim, drive and snorkel for a $6 day pass.

Ill - that looks awesome โค๏ธ

Mornin' ladies,
Lori so glad she's home but we all know she has to take it easy. It sounds like they did a number on her tummy area and it's probably hooked up to something in her arm someway. At least u can talk to her a lot and I know u will. <<<HUGS>>> lots of them. And those 2 guys at the movies are WOW to me. I would just enjoy looking at them.
Oh Teka, u say the most with the fewest words, but it's all true.
Illi LOVE those pics...cuz of u gals I see more of the US than I ever did.
Jazzy that balloon looks like it's ready to come down in ur patio. What a pic. And u had something done that u can't drink, that's recockulous, they should figure out a way u could. That's what researchers should be doing. Hope it heals fast.
Kim another day to take it easy with Sadie. BTW I'm not letting the guys put in a spa thing, they're goofy. I wouldn't let them spend that money on me, I'm a cash type of woman LOL
Sandy the weather is holding up for this weekend. Sounds like ur having a fun one.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! So far I've gotten the cardboard boxes cleared off the kitchen floor, mowed the grass in front of the dumpster, got all the cardboard and some other trash in to the dumpster, and a load of laundry started. Pretty good for not even 9 ayem! So need to get over this procrastination problem. Was looking it up on line yesterday (rather than doing housework). Ran across a good article about how procrastination is an emotional issue and not a time management or organizational issue. It really struck a cord in me. The big tip I ran across is to not look at the big project but keep asking myself "What's the next action?" and just keep moving. It worked really well this ayem, let's see how long it works! Sadie is confused, I actually did some houseworkthat she couldn't help with--I moved the boxes I was dropping trash into out of her reach (in the dumpster) so she couldn't help by moving the "good" items back onto the floor!
Goldie--thanks for the pic.I still have no idea who any of them are.I take it Dwayne Johnson was a wrestler or something? From the nickname "The Rock"?
Jazzy--Yikes, no alcohol for how long?I suppose 48 hours isn't all that long, really. I hope the facial treatment is worth the deprivation. No, the dumpster is still here, and still getting some, albeit not as much as optimal, use. This morning I discovered that hornets had started a nest in the dumpster! So I was tossing stuff in whilst dodging flying stingers. Didn't get stung, so I did OK! I've gotten a bit behind on the decluttering, and am working on restarting. Sometimes it just seems so endless and hopeless. BUT, I am again making progress and putting the past behind. Can't ketchup, need to jump in right here and move forward, right? To be totally honest, taking Sadie swimming is an excuse for me going swimming.
Beautiful balloon!
Illi--what a gorgeous place!
Cammy Cat--shame on you for not letting them put in the spa!Think how good it will make you feel, relaxing all those muscles and bubbling away all the aches and pains!

Good morning friends- we had some nice soaking rain again last night. I also found a small leak coming through the bathroom vent area and need to call the roofing company. I have had this problem before in this spot and may need some patching/sealing around the vent up top. Monsoons show us where we need maintenance. The rain really soaked the yard and cooled things down last night. It has been in the 70s overnight here, but dropped down into the 60s at night and that tends to be a normal change as we move in to August.
I have done a bit of yoga this morning and going to head to the farmers market where i am in search of fresh tomatoes, corn on the cob, some melons and some fresh roasted green chili. The chili harvest and roasting has begun! I am going to make some corn chowder and also some Mexican street corn today too.
Cami- the not drinking is just for 48 hours and that will end this afternoon. Therefore, I plan to have a glass of wine tonight because I did not get my normal evening glass on the patio last night or the night before as I usually do in the summer months. I think they just want to keep any reaction/inflammation down. No steamy showers, booze, or vigorous exercise. My face look fine. A bit scabby but nothing that won't be resolved quickly. I am heading to da pool later today for a swim.
Lori- I know we have been talking a lot about your DD and all she has been going through. How are you feeling and is the fever, chills, etc. gone again? You have had a really tough year all the way around. Praying things are better for all now.
Ill- googled that state park and how cool. I would not have imagined that was in TX looking at it, but know there are plenty of natural springs around the state. I remember going to the San Marcos spring with my parents back in 1984 when they came to visit me in TX during my spring break. We went all over the place in the DFW area, but also went south to Austin, San Antonio and those springs. I remember the paddle boats there too. I do certainly understand why you love that spot you visited. It looks amazing!
Okay ladies, time to go and wishing you all a good Funday Sunday!
-
Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day!Getting up to 51 degrees this ayem. Talk about a weather change! Had Sadie cuddling on the bed and needed to pull up a blanket last night! Not sure what the rest of the week is going to be like, but I bet it will be beautiful!
Jazzy--Corn chowder sounds so good, I haven't made that in ages. Sweet corn is out here, I need to get some and make a batch.August does bring lots of changes. In the weather and the beginning of Back To School shopping. That always seems to sneak up on me and is a big signal that summer is almost over. Just when I was getting to really love it being summer!
Good Morning to everyone!

Good morning! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Goldie, glad to hear your daughter had what sounds like a successful surgery even though it sounds like she will have some pain for quite some time. I hope she heals quickly and feels well soon!
Illimae, sounds like you are enjoying your travels! The pictures look great!
Cam, I love the cat pictures you always post. I have a cat who sleeps just like the one in the picture you posted this morning. I always wonder how she doesn't suffocate sleeping face down lol!
NativeMaine, I love the name of that drink! I can just imagine parents having celebratory drinks as their children return to school, and I can tell you many teachers will be having drinks too, but for far different reasons haha!
Hope everyone is feeling well today and has a great day!
-
Illimae, what a beautuful pool!
NM, I don't know if "The Rock" was a wrestler or not. Good for you at looking at your cleaning in a new way. And I'm sure Sadie loves to go swimming just as much as you do.
Jazzy, l'm good, no fever. What did you have done to your face? Never really thouoght of it, but yeah, I guess it's been one heck of a year for me! As for the "Rock", I think his arms are bigger than my thighs!
Super, this is her second surgery, first one was in March.
Cami, does Joey go back to school in Sept.? That is when we always went back. But kids here are already back. You have the sweetest family! My gosh do they love you!
We have had a little rain here, but this heat is horrible. My garden looks like crap!
-
Mornin' ladies,
Quiet yesterday, I checked last nite for anything from Lori, not much to check so, I'm assuming everyone had a good fun busy day. I like assuming that.
Jazzy "corn chowder: oh sounds so good.. The most I ever extended myself with soup was cream of potato leek soup. As I remember it was great. My kids even liked it and I was working 2 jobs, so I thought wow I'm good. I forgot what leek even looks like now , never forget potatoes. Anyway Jazzy I like the way u plan ur week ahead, makes it easier to know.
Kim the weather ur way sounds cool. About time, except don't get to used to it We're in for more hot weather, I'm pretty sure.
My puter is acting up so Dan <who's connected to my puter> is supposed to clean it up today I WORK ALL DAY EVERY DAY THIS WEEK, I know I'm going to screw up, so my Monday cat is for real. And I never use punctuation when texting and got some things messed up so I have to start, at least that today. For example, I wrote Hi Bob Hyman called, well Bob didn't know who Bob Hyman was and was looking thru all the customers Oy vey, But I meant was Hi Bob, Hyman called WOW I never thought one comma could make such a difference After all these yrs. U'd think I would know. I'm certainly more trouble than what I'm worth and they don't get mad. I think it pays to be old with them.
Jodie is having a grad. party for my GD Sat. I'm glad to see my sister and a few of my cousins. Most of Jodie's friends go without their DH's cuz they can't stand FF, they tell me but won't tell Jodie. I wish everyone would tell her <I know I'm bad> but how could she not figure it out yet. I see so much unhappyness in her face and how she acts, this man has ruined her. She could be on her own so easily, after all she;s the one paying all the bills now anyway, he doesn't work, They even hire someone for the lawn, I guess he's to busy. After all he's been punching up his resume for 2 yrs now, I guess no one told him he has to email them out Oh well as stupid as he is he's clever. At least if u could stand looking at him but u end up throwing up in ur mouth when u do. I'm sure he'd look better if he was a good guy but all I see is FF <for all u newbies stands for F**kFace> And I'm being nice.
Well hope all goes good for everyone this week and if ur restarting chemo I wish u well..

Had a good time Sat. but paid for it. Though I was 20 min. late for the block party brunch and could barely find a spot on the table for my Caprese, it was pretty much gone w/in 15 min. There were only a few lo-carb options, and water was the only bev in the coolers I could drink, I mostly "consumed" conversation. (Standing up the whole time bec. I didn't want to haul the camp chair out of the car in the garage--and needed both hands to carry the platter).
Re-sunscreened, gathered up chilled wines & seltzer cans, and drove down my alternate route to Beverly (turns out Lake Shore Dr. would have been fine, as Lollapalooza is e. of it, with nothing but the lake on the other side). Stood for awhile at my friends' house, but mostly sat in my camp chair--which is deep and not the easiest from which to rise. Stayed till 11pm--as I sat down in the car, I felt a little soreness on the left side of my lower back. As I drove home, it got sorer and stiffer. Got home and took a dose of CBD--but as I was putting out my pm and am pills I got sidetracked (kitties, Bob, I forget which) and turns out I forgot to go into the strongbox for my Rx meds, including my muscle relaxers and Dexilant. Woke up 6:30 am from a dream in which I had a backache, heartburn and needed to pee desperately--only it wasn't just a dream. Stumbled downstairs to the kitchen, discovered my oversight and corrected it (plus some Tylenol, Advil and a CBN capsule to get back to sleep). Tried the piriformis stretch, which did nothing, Until the drugs kicked in, my back was throbbing--spreading across my waist at times. Of all the backaches I'd ever had, this was the first to hurt even when lying down--in any position (except for "back labor." which this certainly was not).
Spent all day yesterday taming the backache beast--heating pad, Tylenol and a couple Advil, warm shower, topical CBD, Lidocaine, Bio-Freeze. By bedtime I was OK. A little stiff today, so I'm being extra-careful. Also, Happy had some stomach upset overnight despite not letting his tummy get empty. Both of the cats are due for vet visits, but only Gordy seems to be capable of getting them into their carriers--and he's working all week because he traded shifts to attend Lolla. (He chose this vet back when our old kitty was still alive because it was close & accessible by bus, but I don't like this clinic and want to go back to our old vet who was great--but has a long waiting list for appointments). Heidi was a bit "naggy" today, even though I fed her on schedule (and what she likes) and gave her catnip. Maybe she just wants me to nap so she can nap on me.
Saturday's DOTD was that Jean-Paul rosรฉ at the BBQ.
-
Spent today scrubbing baseboards and floors. I am hosting the Bridge group on Thursday, so gotta get the house clean! Lots more to go and some appetizers to make. I will have chemo on Friday and after that will have the final markup for radiation. The SBRT treatments will start on Monday, 8/12 and go thru Friday. That Friday I will get the Neulasta patch as well. And Saturday is my birthday!!!! We are postponing the celebration until later when I decide it is a good time.
Sounds like people are busy. Love the hot air balloons. The spring in Texas looks so inviting. Stay healthy everyone and enjoy the dog days of summer

Oh, what a beautiful morning, Jazzy! (Yeah, I stole that--but I only steal from the best). Have a marvelously happy birthday!
Feeling a bit better today. RCN made me purge my web mailbox of trash and deleted messages (who knew they save them) lest I lose webmail privileges--and it took several hours to get me out of the "danger--90% full" zone. (Multitasked while doing so),
My DOTD was an iced almondmilk mocha. Yup--I found a really good sugar-free zero net carb Stevia-sweetened chocolate syrup with no aftertaste (or sugar-alcohol "burn" despite having vegetable glycerin). "NuNaturals," from the sugar/sweeteners aisle at Whole Foods.
-
Happy, happy birthday! I love them and hope you gals do too, enjoy - Cheers! Janice
