Good Morning to you, Cami! I'm waiting on H cooking breakfast.

Mornin' ladies,
Lori this thing u have, soneone has to get to the bottom and give u the right meds. I know they told u what was wrong but it's got to be horrible for it to just come on anytime anywhere. I hope u go away and just RELAX for once. U won't have to clean, cook or anything, just enjoy. Oh what a mess business wise, I can only imagine. Another worry I know. Oh Lori Joey still makes me coffe and we sit and talk, now about older blonde girls <he always like blondes> as u know and adulty things, which I always think I'm good doing. LOL And when he rubs my legs with cream, he's still has the gentle touch with me. U all have to know that's why I love living here, it's him;
Kim I know u gals don't mind if I don't get all the medical talk ur used to me, but I think the newbies must think I'm goofy <well I am too> Ah Sadie how we love her. All of her antics over the years has been a hoot and she's always been so smart the patients have to love her. And I hope ur weekend is relaxing with Sadie.
Jazzy that pic. was scary, like for the movies.
Super I enjoyed ur explanation of food and drink I got thirsty and hungry all at the same time
OK I'll be right back
-
I'm back, my puter was acting up or down whatever.
Hey Teka I always like how u handle things, waiting for breakfast. LOL
Super u have lots of energy and ur using it wisely. Good for u.
JC great pics. and u and ur DH look fantastic. Sounds like a beautiful time u had together. Of course I zeroed in on the food, I always do. But all the surroundings are so peaceful.
Well my Drs. went fine. She has all the test thing in her office now, so I had my blood work done and another thing, yea it took longer but I didn't have to go to the hospital. She's so funny she asked me what diet I was on hahaha and I told the truth, twinkies, ice cream, chocolate cuz I lost 10 lbs. but I told her I watch how many twinkies I eat. I've lost about 130 lbs over a time but I still don't look like it to me. She's actually concerned. I'm not, I insisted her scale was wrong anyway so not to talk about it. And we didn't. I told u Leslie started going to her and not to mention me but somehow in their talking Joey's name came up and a little about how close he is to his grandma, the Dr. then asked her if I was her mom and she said yes and the Dr. started talking about what a wonder young man she's raising and she's so impressed with him. LOL That kid gets around. I told her I hadn't taken my BP meds cuz I was out for about a week so if it's high that's the reason. Any excuse well it was 102/52, I should have kept my mouth shut. She found a few things she didn't like but no big deal. I was told I was dehydrated, it's the skin of an old person, she should know that. see I'm blabbering again. All right Ill stop.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday!A beautiful weekend shaping up here. Sadie and I are going to enjoy it as much as possible. Sadie is still happy from her trip to the nursing home, she keeps coming up to me and grinning, and then going to the door where her harness is kept. That's her signal she wants to get in the car and go somewhere (the harness is part of her "seat belt" and means we're going somewhere). I'm thinking another trip to the lake this afternoon is in order.
Goldie--No, not much change at the old place, and what changes are happening don't seem to be good ones. It's sad to see a great team falling apart, but I guess that is life. They do have Hospice patients in mynursing home. Elementary and High School around here usually starts in September, right after Labor Day. College and Universities start a couple weeks before that. I'm not surprised that Sadie can read people so well, I think dogs have developed strong hooman-reading skills so they can most effectively manipulate and train us to make their lives comfortable!I am sorry to hear about the delivery problems. So much hassle to deal with. Enjoy the glamping trip!
Super--Silly Sadie is quite a character! She loves attention and seems to like visiting people. This was the second time I took her to the nursing home, and it worked out well, so now I have to get her an official office water bowl and keep a supply of treats on hand for future visits!Ah, the wonder of a normal day!Good for you for going with it and taking advantage, even if it meant a bit more alcohol than you typically imbibe. The occasional indulgence won't make or break anything. Thanks for the recipe, I'm one who generally keeps a bottle of Lemoncello in the fridge for both sipping and cooking. Definitely adding that recipe to my collection!
Jazzy--I'm glad we don't get monsoonal storms here! That sky looks terribly threatening.
Librarian--what a beautiful place to walk!
Morning, Teka!
Cammy Cat--You and Joey have such wonderful times together, these are times you will both remember forever! Glad the dr's appointment went well. It's good that your doc knows Leslie and Joey, too! Too funny! Wish I could eat twinkies and chocolateand ice cream and still lose weight like you do!I think everyone in the world is dehydrated to some extent these days. We all need to drink more, so break open the booze cabinet!
Limoncello-Gin Cocktail
Ingredients
- 2 large sprigs fresh thyme; more for garnish
- 1/2 fl. oz. (1 Tbs.) fresh lime juice
- 1-1/2 fl. oz. (3 Tbs.) gin, preferably Bluecoat American Dry
- 1/2 fl. oz. (1 Tbs.) limoncello, preferably Averna Limoni di Sicilia
Preparation
- Prepare a gas or charcoal grill fire for direct cooking over medium-high (500°F) heat. Grill the thyme sprigs until fragrant and lightly charred, about 15 seconds. In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, gently muddle the grilled thyme with the lime juice. Add the gin and limoncello and fill the shaker with ice. Stir well. Strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice, garnish with thyme, and serve.

Hi ladies- just a quick note before I head to Santa Fe. Today is the last of my music things for a bit, a concert with the jazz legend Stanley Clark. I think I saw him once long ago at the Newport Jazz Festival when I was back in CT for 10 years after school, but was not "up" on all the musicians then (or heck, even now?) Anyways, got a junior suite at one of the Hilton properties there and going to have a little get away to Santa Fe and come home tomorrow afternoon.
Wishing you all a great weekend. August is on the horizon!

Stanley Clark is one of my favorite bassists. (I remember the supergroup, "Animal Logic," he formed with Deborah Holland and the Police's Stewart Copeland). We have dodged the monsoons thus far--and no rain forecast till Monday. So gotta water the tomatoes & herbs today.
Had some friends visit us from CO yesterday. We hung around here for awhile, then took the CTA down to Millennium Park. Late lunch/early dinner at the Gage gastropub across the street--had a sparkling Grenache rosé from the Languedoc that was a tad sweeter than I'd have liked. Saw the Grant Park Symphony concert (free, main event was Dvorak's Symphony #7; "undercard" was a gratingly dissonant piece by a composer named Lopez; and then two more melodic pieces featuring the McGill brothers: one is the principal clarinet of the NY Philharmonic, the other principal flautist of the Seattle Symphony). Our hearts sank when we saw the lawn cheek-by-jowl filled with picnickers, but it turned out there were plenty of regular seats, and we sat right behind the tech booth (best sound).
Felt a bit dizzy & lightheaded after, so I had a Spindrift orange-mango fruit-juice-flavored seltzer (10 cal., no added sugar) at Panera. We cabbed it up to the Hancock, but once seated we discovered to our chagrin that every patron had to order at least one full entree--and our friends weren't that hungry (though we were). Even though it was 10 pm, they would not make an exception, so we went upstairs to the 96th fl. lounge; but it was horribly noisy and the food menu (separate kitchen) was very limited, pricey, and except for the "raw bar for 2" (small cold seafood tower) carby as all get-out. Drank a 2017 sparkling Blanc de Blancs from Burgundy--dry but not like those from Champagne itself.

Super, it's nice to have a "normal" day, isn't it? The dessert sounds very yummy. I think NM makes her own limoncello. And then paddle boarding, wow!
Jazzy, still no rain for us, other than a down pour with high winds yesterday that lasted about 2 minutes! It rains all around us, so that is good for the water table. It just always goes around our little area here, do hot and dry. Enjoy your little get away. Yum yum on the watermelon margarita.
JCS, what a lovely time for you and your DH. Pretty pictures and love the one of you two.
Cami, it's nicej to hear you and Joey still have your coffee together, and how gentle he is with you. He loves you so much, and of course I know it's mutual. And yes, I know he likes blondes! You've lost 130 pounds? Since I saw you?
NM, how sweet and SMART, that Sadie wants to go in the car and lets it be known. Hope the two of you made it to the lake.
Sandy, sounds like a nice time was had with your friends.
Heading out to Moab early tomorrow morning, but I should be able post as I usually do in the mornings. Don't have anything planned, unless we head to mountains, cuz Moab will be to hot. And yippee ki aye, last day for anti b's and time for my vacation from FU pills for a week. These anti b's make me loopy, not all the time, it just comes and goes as it pleases, even hours after I have taken it.

Good Morning. Loungettes!Another beautiful day shaping up here. I need to get outside and get some lawn work done this ayem before it gets too hot today, waited too long yesterday and got nothing done. I'm teaching the test-taking class for the first 3 days of this week, then back to the nursing home just in time for end-of-the-month and beginning-of-the-month audits and such, so going to be a busy couple of days at the end of the week. But that's ok, I enjoy it and love seeing the progress being made.Poor Sadie ends up listening to me babble on and on about that stuff when I get home. But she seems to be ok with it as long as I'm tummy tickling or ear scratching!
Jazzy--have a good get-a-way!
Chi--Sounds like you had great seats for the concert. Too bad about the must-order-an-entre place. I wonder how much business they lost over that? I bet you weren't the only ones to decide to go somewhere else.Sorry the somewhere else wasn't as good.
Goldie--I make my own Kaluha, but I don't make limoncello. Although maybe I should look into that? Hmm.Sadie and I didn't make it to the lake yesterday, there were some pretty ominous looking clouds blowing in and the occasional, faint rumble of thunder. My weather app was saying there was lightening within 15 miles. Decided to go to the bean suppah instead, good thing, too, as it was just Mom and Dick so I actually got to visit with them for a bit. Often in the summer there are so many people going with us that I don't even get to speak to Mom and Dick except to say hello. Enjoy the Moab trip!
DOTD:
Can't top a watermelon margarita!
-
NM,
That reminds me to have H pickup a watermelon!
I'm only venturing outside to water flower and bush green bean containers.

Mornin ladies,
Teka I enjoy when u just drop in, its so Teka LOL.
Jazzy u make the most of any time off, u always have and it's great cuz I know too that there will be pics. Enjoy.
Oh Sandy what a wonderful time u had with ur friends, it so nice to share good times. But I have to say the 96th floor does not sound enticing to me. Did u get dizzy cuz u needed water or something, does that happen a lot . U know I have to know why. How long has the 96th floor rest. been there, do u know???
Lori yes since I've seen u I've lost the weight, but as far as I'm concerned I still look the same. Now u r going away right just to relax RIGHT. How is ur DD doing now, it's almost time.
Kim glad u can still take Sadie back. She has done so many silly antics, one of the funniest is when she coveted ur kitchen stuff and put it away where she wanted it.She's a super furbaby and I know how much u both enjoy each other. Our dog loves to go for rides, but they have learned to keep the windows closed so he can't jump out.The other nite he woke everyone up barking around 2am, my kids thought one of the guys from work was leaving but no it was me going to the bathroom...he's just nuts.
I'm wishing everyone a nice Sunday

Great concert. His band is filled with amazing young musicians. His performance on the upright base was the best anywhere I have seen

The Signature Room (used to be called just “The 95th") has been around for >50 years. As it's a special occasion place—especially for entertaining out of town guests, I doubt that policy has lost them any customers. (And I don't ever recall seeing that rule on the menu previously). Had our friends been staying at our place, we'd have just boxed the leftovers to go—but the friends with which they're staying have a chock-full fridge for a big birthday party at their place last night. They flew home this morning.
And yeah—I'm constantly dehydrated, no matter how much water I try to drink. (I “pee pale" all day and into the evening, but it's always yellow when I get up). Also been getting these weird side spasms since yesterday afternoon: just below and to the side of my lowermost left rib—a sharp-ish “wave" that suddenly disappears before it can peak. Bob thinks it might be a kidney stone, but I thought kidney stones were much, much more painful. Anyway, between the dizzies, the fatigue and now this pain, I think I'll call my PCP in the morning. Almost certain I'm anemic again, too.
Lunch today at a steakhouse on the Gold Coast—DOTD was a Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs.
-
Good Morning, Loungettes!Just a quick poop in before heading out for class. Got an hour's commute and it's foggy as all get out so I want to start early this ayem. Sadie looked out at the fog and then looked at me as if to say "What are you going to do about this?" she knows it means it's going to be muggy, muggy, muggy today. I've already got the big fan moved so it blows on her 2 favorite lie down spots in the living room so she'll be comfortable. I'm glad I'll be in an air conditioned classroom!
Teka--take care in all this heat!
Cammy Cat--love the energy saving mode--that was me yesterday! Sadie doesn't hide so much kitchen stuff in her crate since I started trying to make sure I put dirty dishes in the dishwasher right after every meal. She still gets a few things, though! I had a dog once that would jump out of the car window, it's scary! Funny that the doggy woke everyone up to announce your potty trip, and a bit embarrassing!
Jazzy--great pics!
Chi--I pray you don't have a kidney stone brewing trouble!
-
NM, glad that you found out about the lightning before heading to the lake. Nothing wrong with doing nothing for a day! Kaluha ok, I thought for sure it was limoncello, oh well, no biggie. Do you go to the same place for the bean suppah?
Cami, that's a lot of weight to lose! My DD has surgery this Thursday. As for Lucky and car rides, why don't they get him a harness. We saw a dog in a car on Friday, half of his body was out the window, I thought for sure he was going to jump, but he didn't.
Sandy, hoping you find out what's wrong. I always thought it better to have paler urine as opposed to bright yellow. I thought the more yellow, the dehydrated.
Quiet Sunday! Well, not heading out this morning. We got a message and picture of our product. It was taken off one truck in a warehouse and not put on the one that came to us. So hopefully we will have it sometime this week. We believe it's in CA. So we can't leave until we know when it will be here.
-
Well, you all know of the issues my poor DD has been going through. Well, the last time she was in MI, she told me she had went into the bedroom for something and woke up on the floor. Told her she needed to let the doctors know that. Well today, she went out to take care of some business, in her dads "newer" truck, was close to home, maybe 5 miles and he lives out in the country. Well, she passed out again and hit a tree. Thank God she wasn't in busy traffic, in the city and maybe something fatal! She has an appt. tomorrow with her primary in MI, but I'm sure it will involve a referral to a neurologist. My heart is breaking!
She is ok, but very shaken/scared and doesn't know why this is happening to her.
-
Oh Goldie - I'm so sorry. Glad she wasn't hurt in the accident and hope they can pinpoint why she's passing out.
-
I’m so sorry Goldie, these episodes must be terrifying. I so hope it’s something with an easy fix.
-
I just messaged her a bit ago, cuz she said her neck was hurting, I told her that she could still go to the hospital and perhaps they would run tests, rather than waiting on primary, then referral, then schedule for tests. Her and dad were coooking dinner and she didn't feel like it!!!!!!! I would shut the stove off and put her ass in the car and take her to ER. Why is dinner more important??? I am so pissed, at who I don't know, and so worried.
-
OMG, Lori! Your DD should at least get to an urgent care clinic if there's one w/in easy driving distance, taking a rideshare if available--with a neck injury after having passed out, she shouldn't be driving. If not an urgent care clinic, then an ER. The most expensive taxi would cost less than an EMS or private ambulance (yes, municipalities bill for ambulance rides, and insurers won't pay if nothing dire could be diagnosed). Does she live in a rural area like you do?
Yes, the rule is "pee pale." My voice teacher constantly nags me about that (though his quaff of choice is--ugh--diet Red Bull). It takes a full 24 hrs. for water you drink to make it to the vocal folds to moisturize the mucosa from the inside, so I guess it takes at least that long to orally hydrate a dehydrated person. It's so weird that the older we get, the less we want to drink plain water, whether still or sparkling--even though we need it more. Bob says that's something he frequently encounters with his increasingly aging patient base. I wonder why that is. You know me--I am never satisfied witth "just because;" I want a scientific explanation.
Oddly, the pain disappeared late last night. Wondering if it was gravel and I passed it, or (as I suspect) trapped gas. So no doctor visit for me today. (If I see him for anything, it's to find out why I'm so tired and de-conditioned, and if I'm anemic again; and to see if my diet has improved my glucose and a1c). The three-block walk between the 900 N. Mich. garage and Gibson's steakhouse took a lot out of me, despite chugging water at home, while driving and while shopping at UntuckIt--where I got water and Bob got whiskey. (Can't blame it all on the 90-degree temp, because it was dry and there was a pleasant breeze).
So DOTD tonight was an almondmilk breve (1/2 cream, 1/2 almondmilk) latte. (The cream is necessary to make a texture for decent frothing, and it's allowed); and seltzer.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Boy has it come of hot and humid again. When I got home from class I had to turn on the AC in the house and the bedroom. Thanks to the bedroom unit I slept like a baby last night, good thing cuz even with the living room AC on it's sticky and uncomfortable. First day of class went really well despite my getting hung up on the trip down by an accident that happened just past a construction zone. Still got everything ready on time, though. Sadie is moving pretty slowly in the heat, but she did beg a couple belly rubs while I was waiting for the coffee to brew this ayem!
Goldie--I did pick up a bottle of Limoncello while I was grocery shopping yesterday, I'm betting it's not too hard to make, I will have to look into that! The bean suppahs are at different churches each week, rotating through a handful of churches during the course of a month. Most churches hold one a month, some dobigger deal a little less often, a very few have one almost every week. We all have our favorites. Hope the lost-no-found merchandise arrives soonest. I say your post on FB about DD's accident. So scary! She must be terrified.
Chi--I can give you one reason older folks don't drink as much, one I hear all the time. "If I drink that then I'll have to go pee."Yeah, that's the point, but older people get the more effort it takes to get there (or the more incontinent episodes they have) so they start avoiding drinking. I'm sure there is a more scientific reason, or other more scientific reasons, too. About getting wiped out with a shortish walk, given that you are drinking water well (good for you!) you may want to look at your sodium intake. Many people get caught up in the avoiding sodium while increasing water intake in temperatures over 85-90 degrees and end up with low sodium levels.Symptoms of mildhyponatremia (low sodium levels) are muscle weakness and fatigue. One quick and dirty way to see if you are getting low on sodium is to drink a mix of 1/2 teaspoon salt in 4 ounces of water when you notice you feel tied/muscle weakness after some exercise and note if the feeling eases over the next 20 to 30 minutes. I've learned that I should put a teaspoon of salt in every third or fourth drink of water or iced tea. I usually drink 16 to 20 ounce glasses/bottles to keep from getting tired, wiped out, and to prevent muscle spasms from low sodium. Or I get a margarita andlick the salt off the rim!
MARGARITA
Margaritas are best, in my opinion, with salt around the rim of your glass. This is totally optional, but my preference. If you want to take things a bit further, mix a little sugar and lime zest in with your salt. YUM! Then fill that glass with ice.
one part tequila, 2 parts lime juice, 1 part simple syrup, and 1 part orange liqueur. For me, that recipe is not only easy to remember but it's the perfect balance of sweet and sour and wow. Feel free to adjust my margarita recipe to your own personal taste.

Thank you ladies, I have the best internet friends here!
Sandy, her dad lives in a rural area yes, but not like me! She is seeing a doctor this morning. Glad you passed the "gravel" or whatever it was and hoping you get an answer in regards to anemia. I hear ya about simple things just waring you out.
NM, good thing you left early due to the fog, which was most likely the cause of the accident. Glad you got there in time and the class went smoothly.
I got this message, actually from a friend who use to frequent the lounge. It makes sense. I'm just going to copy and past what I sent to her. She had passed out 2 times when she went to ER on the island and had to have blood transfusion. I believe it was 6 units.
Jennifer, I got this from a friend of mine, and might explain you passing out, at dads and when you were in the hospital. This sounds more logical than a siezure or something. Ask the doctor about it. Not sure how you determine this, if it's just labs or what. But it makes sense!
Oh Lori, a friend of my had terrible fibroids and they made her so anemic she kept passing out. I would assume they checked this but thought I'd pass it along. She had no idea and had to then eat diet very heavy in iron and get transfusions.
Also, if you think you still want to go to the hospital, you can bring that up with your primary. Just tell her you should have went yesterday, but was rather in shock. This morning your neck hurts and you have a headache!

Mornin' ladies
OH LORI I'm sick to my stomach. How could her father just not take her right after the accident. Isn't that what u do if u've past out???Wasn't there paramedics at the accident. I don't understand, did she just refuse going. This doesn't make any sense how she could wait to see a Dr. Then have to wait to see a specialist and tests, going to the ER would hurry all this up. Oh u've got to be screaming inside. It almost sounds like a stage of some kind of epilepsy U know I know nothing so I'm sure it's not but going to the ER could rule so much out and find out what;s going on so much faster. I'm so so sorry Lori and not being with her is a whole big thing too. How can they go ahead with the surgery with this going on??? I know u'll tell us as things go on even if it's just a poop in please.<<<PRAYERS>>>
Ok I had to stop a couple of minutes, but I'm here. Kim the DOTD looks luscious , so many summer drinks look so pretty. I think that's why I want to drink, but I keep on forgetting to ask my Dr. if I can have an occasional one. The only thing that stops me is the morphine and codeine I take. The other meds not really and I'd probably be drunk with one drink, it;s been so long.
Sandy I know it always seems like I'm dehydrated everytime I see a Dr., but when it's extreme I feel it myself and yet I always have a bottle of water right next to me it's usually the first thing on my shopping list. So doesn't it seem goofy that we get dehydrated all the time. And with u, u always watch what u eat and drink so it's a little surprising. And I've heard more people with kidney problems lately than ever before. And not just older people either. I hope u start feeling better. Oh I thought I went to the 96th rest. years ago cu I do remember thinking how can anyone ea this high up.
My phones started so I have to go for now.

OMG! Goldie, fingers crossed for your daughter. I found out I was very anemic when I was much younger. I kept passing out while at work, but not while driving. Had to take giant iron pills. Will she still have her surgery? Sandy, kidney ‘gravel’ is a real pain. LOL! NM, watch out for fog. It can be very dangerous when other drivers do not know how to behave. All this must be the result of the weird moon this past week.
Still enjoying my time off from chemo. Played cards last night. The daughter of one of my friends had a massive heart attack last August. She was 40 years old and has three children. She was on an LVAD machine for several months and had a heart transplant. Most of this is a result of having radiation for lymphoma that effected her heart. She also had a double mastectomy from breast cancer. Now one of her implants is infected and has to be removed. She should not have surgery at this point in her recovery, but she has to get the infection out. Puts things in perspective for me.
Enjoy your Tuesday
