Now, Zorbing I will do! I'll do just about anything that doesn't leave the ground! Sounds fun

Had/having an "I don't want to die" moment...ick I hate it!! I'm organizing the basement and came across lots of boxes of "stuff." Threw out a lot but I ended up sorting through old pics and kids' school work and even an old ***love*** note from Mike (dated 1988- we were in college and he was in his car waiting for his class to start!!) Gee wiz, I really love me life...how corny am I??!!! Why can't all this make me happy instead of so dang depressed?!

UGH!! Ok, off to feed to my family and have a glass of wine...
Really gotta go, I have a kid screaming, "You're going to spill it!!" and anther laughing...not good... BYE!!!!

    Hello my sisters,

Okay I had to get the second coat of paint on the front door tonight and decided to paint the little piece in front of the door same colour as the door, it now looks better than the white it was before. So done the front hallway and then put first coat of paint on side door way.

I can now sit down and relax, hubby’s working nights. Tomorrow night I have physio at 6:00 pm. so will get a break then. I use to love painting before, still do but not when we are under a tight deadline to get everything done. It is coming together nicely, Norm will put the base coat on the kitchen on Thursday when he is off and then the new kitchen is installed next weekend. We really only have the basement left to organize and paint the floors and then tidy up the rest of the house that is now in a shambles from all this renovating and having no time to clean up!

Okay, I was exhausted last night, went to sleep at 9:30 a.m. and still woke up 3 times, argh….I cant remember when I last slept through the whole night, maybe almost a year ago? I’m finished venting, feel better, aw…..

Laura – yes I was a big fan of Gilligan’s Island but it never dawned on me that you were talking about the Ginger on that show! I am sometimes slow on the uptake and always, always mess up the punch lines when it comes to jokes…. I like the beige colour too, it is very neutral looking but still adds colour and goes with a lot of other colours well.

Maryanne – Cola is a cutie pie. She looks so loveable. She sounds like our dogs who are both herding dogs and love to run and need their daily exercise, especially Scooby the pup or she will get into things out of boredom. She likes insoles from shoes, have none now in the slippers, she got my the ones out of my husband’s running shoes.

I agree with you on the crate issue. All of our dogs, the puppy is now are third dog which we have raised from a pup have all been in a crate from day one. They get use to it being their home, private space and she will go in there just by me saying “go to your bed”…

Our Sheppard when he was alive, got a hold of a box of protein bars, ate 20 dollar bills, frozen porkchops, you name it and this is when he was a grown dog. He always use to dig in my mom;s plants when he was a puppy too!

Paula – hope you are feeling better, did the doctor prescribe anything?

Gracyie – Thanks for the comments on the floor, it is the uniclick laminate, so easy to take care of. It was pricy but worth every penny, we have had it about 6 years now.
I have the trouble sleeping due to being on Armidex and Zoladex and being shot into menopause at age 42. Usually one sleep for no more than 2 hours at a time and then I wake up. I am trying to be the Energizer Bunny but the one that runs out of steam pretty quick.LOL. Your new hair looks great!

Deb – thanks. Do you have problems sleeping too?

Debbie444 – your life is an adventure, you always have some excitement going on. Glad you didn’t get lost in the dark, we would need to invest in one of those miners helmets with the light on it. You were a young bride. Pictures are gorgeous, oh what a beautiful day! Okay, zorbing, hmmm sounds interesting but how do you keep from falling off it or better still if you are inside it, how do you escape if danger is ahead of you and in your case I don’t know if it is safe without FULL BODY ARMOUR!!

Your wedding looks British due to the top hat your hubby has and the rings that the flower girls are carrying, never seen that before but it is beautiful!

Rosemarie – a few of our entrance ways are arched like that, think it was popular in the older style homes. Ours was built 50 years ago and the walls are all plaster except for upstairs. Our home was originally a 1 ½ storey home until 1989 when they lifted the roof and added a ½ a storey, now is it a 2 storey home. All the rooms upstairs are newer. The only problem is they left in the original stairs which are quite steep…

Sorry you are having one of those days and “moments” that we all seem to have. It sometimes doesn’t make sense or seem fair in any way. Maybe someday we will understand the reason why “god” chose us. You and hubby have been together a long time. I met my husband when he was 24 and I was 25, we are now 42 and me soon to be 43!

Victoria – I hope it is our turn to be able to sell our home. We are so looking forward to moving into a newer home with less to take care of. The libido going south, hormonals are harse on our bodies, but a necessary evil. Wouldn’t think of not taking mine as my tumour was 4 cm and I had 3 positive nodes.

TracySeattle – our older dog was my champion on the end of the couch during chemo when I had no energy to move she would be lying right there sleeping at my feet. I got a medical alert braclet for my left arm (affected side) a week after I had my surgery. I still have to fight with some nurses not to have them use that arm, it is so frustrating sometimes.

Cindy – post your wedding picture if you can, would love to see your hubby in a kilt. I think they look so classy looking. I didn’t know that men didn’t wear underwear underneath them, what happens if there is a big windstorm???

Amy – I have a good book called “21 days to Train Your Dog” by Colin Tennant. It is really good because it has picture illustrations to explain the training. Do you want me to send it to you?

Kelly – Your reciepe sounds great, cant wait to taste it in August. Was the Easter Bunny good to Teryn?

Have a great evening ladies, gotta catch up on my soap opera.

    Love you all.

Hi , sounds like every one has had a good day. I had A GREAT day! Yup, my bone scan was OK. I had myself all set for it to be bad I almost didn't know what to think when she told me it was fine. I am mad now for letting my mind go there. Coupled with normal blood work I am going to RELAX for a long time, I hope...

I went to the gym and then to DQ for a peanut-Buster Parfait, it was so good. There must be 2000 calories in them.

I have to get to bed, likely won't sleep well either. Hot flashes again for me too..

    Fists up!

    Pregnant?????????

Nope, not likely, I was on the Evra birth control patch for my visit to DH and ,well that was over a month ago.

I am 46 so I guess peri-menopausal. I was very cranky yesterday so thought I had PMS but nothing yet.

So my hip pain is probably sittingatthecomputeritis...should I write it up in the New Enlgland Journal. I remember a whole thread about hip pain last year. Scary when it is you though. It even got worse this week, probably because I was checking it every 15 minutes to see if it still hurt.LOL.

    Fists up!

Maryanne - thats fantastic- the news we have all been waiting for ! Ok - i have afew more balloon pics - then i promise thats it! One is when we went down between the trees and skimmed the river, one is just before landing - before we were bounced along at an angle ! - you can just about see the dry stone walls that thr Peak District is famous for - there are miles and miles of them stretching out into nowhere that have been up for hundreds of years, the other is me waving to the kids.

    image

    image

Look how close to a heap of manure we landed - that would have been a real Debbie moment!
    image

Michelle - hope all this painting pays off! I enjoy painting but its veryr rare i do any - Roger says i paint too fast and the paint sprays everywhere - i usually end up wearing more that the wall - surely thats part of the fun?
OK - bear with me - i have forgotten when i am booking the hotel for - is it Sat and Sun or Fri and Sat? I sat to do it last night and had completely forgotten!

Pretty quiet here at 9.15 - no one else up - you can imagine from that what the sleepover was like!!
    Debbie

OMG they are massive - if they cause any probs let me know

I was looking at my wedding photos and it seemed like yesterday!
The church i got married in was the church where me and my brother and sister were christened, my brother got married there too and my kids and their kids were christened. My mum and dad got married there , as did my grandma and grandads! I got marroed there on my 21st birthday on 6th Feb, and my grandma got married there on her 21st birtday on the 1st Feb. I wore her cross and chain which she was given for her 21st , my mum wore the same one when she got married. My wedding ring and Rogers were made from gold from my mums wedding ring and other grandmas watchcase - Roger designed that, and on top of my wedding cake were two little rings with doves on - one from mum and dads wedding cake, and one from Rogers mum and dads cake.
My flowers were dried ( big in the 90s !) and Rogers mum made them into a picture which hangs over my bed. Catherine often wanders around with my head dress on. I cant believe it was 14 years ago, it seems woven into my life!!

Dad wasnt a designer - he was a sign writer and spray painter. I think if he had been born 50 years later it might have been different. I remember as a child, the neighbours paying him to pick colours and decorate their houses , and even now , walking into his house you wouldnt think it was the house of a 76 year old man. He regularly throws furniture out and buys new, because its'old fashioned!'
He used to make me the most fantastic fancy dress costumes which won loads of prizes , and a s achild i had a fantatstic Disney mural on my bedroom wall, as did my neices and nephews. My own kids had one of a canal boat with characters which were big on the TV at the time.
Hr takes great delight in telling us stories about when he was in the RAF - by all accounts he was the first person on the base to have slip on shoes and a swing back sports coat (?) - woohoo - my dad the trend setter!!

Better go and load the washer
    Take Care

Debbie..those balloon pictures are unbelievable! Gorgeous. I told my dh that I want to go on a balloon ride but we don't think there are any here. I am going to see about going on one in Illinois while I'm there. That is really neat. I'm afraid of heights but I think I could do this. Now..zorbing..still gotta look that one up on the internet.

The story of your wedding with the rings and the top of the cake..that is so touching. I love things that mean something rather than just a "plastic" wedding if you know what I mean. Your wedding is just so you...full of meaning and life and connections. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

You amaze me, Debbie...you know how to make the best out of life, to take life in its hands and just go with it. Beautiful. I'm so happy to "know" you.

Amy, we were not good dog-parents! I can tell you everything we did to make our dog hate the crate...and then you can do the opposite! We even took "Rocky" to obedience school and he won a prize - but he was just a big faker for the class!
    image
Debbie - what sweet memories - very touching and so meaningful!! Your dad is quite a guy!!

Mike and I were 21 and 22 when we got married, we were 16 and 17 when we started dating! (Actually almost 17, almost 18 - I'm a year older) He was a Senior in High School and I had just started college when we started going out.

Ok - off to do my thing...rainy and cold today and it's an early release day (a week off and now early release??)

    Lots of love ladies!!!!!!!

Just popped in to tell Mary-Anne: WOO-HOO! So happy that you got your results. Let's celebrate this morning coffee! LOL! Don't forget to breath and relax. Oh never mind, you ate that DQ thing, go exercise girlie!!

Well, I will get the Easter pics downloaded soon and show off my little girl. We had a good time at Dad's and his wife even surprised me with a cake
for my b-day. It was very pretty. I will post a pic of that as well.

Then two more days off!! 3 in a row!! Monday was errands and yesterday
morning I got the garage clean in time to lay at the pool and read, then pick
up dd at school, David and his daughter came over and the girls swam
    and we bbq'd.

Happy Days are here for all of us!

    Love you ladies!

Oh wish we had all been there Kelly - sounds great.
Deb - you should go ballooning in Chicago - it was great. I dont like heights - got stuck in the loft the other day as darent get back on the ladder but the balloon didnt bother me at all.
Dads just gone - he is working on Marks train board , the buildings are finished, he has been painting figures about 1/2 inch high, now we are doing the roads. I have to take Catherines dolls house over to him soon as he is painting the roof to look like tiles.
Sam , obedience classes - hahahahahhahaha. He does what he wants, when he wants. He will sit , stay and come for Roger a) if he feels like it and b) if there are no other dogs or people around. A friend of ours does agility with collies and when we had Sam he told us there was no chance - little dogs know their own minds too much. The look he gave me when i told him to get off teh bed and go and play out in the sunshine reaffirmed that!!

I can't believe your Dad! Send him my way...during chemo I bought a doll house! I want to decorate each room, but haven't made the time yet. It's in my nieces play room for now. I had always wanted one as a child, but mum couldn't afford one. Do you celebrate Mum's Day?

blizzard??? yuck. I should take pictures of my potted flowers. They are doing so well that my mil is jealous! She and I bought the same flowers together and every time she comes over (all the time! ) she looks at mine and just shakes her head and tells me hers are just about dead. I do NOT have a green thumb..probably just good sun! I've been checking on them a lot and giving them a touch of water every day since it's so dry here. maybe that's why.

I will look into the balloon trip. Will ask my girlfriend to do that with me. She's usually game for just about anything!

RoseMarie..you dog was a faker in class! That is toooo funny!!!!

Interesting about the small dog theory. I believe that. Smaller dogs are smarter

Kelly..wanna see the pics! Sounds like you are having great weather. Ours is good, too. I need to take advantage of it. I've been so lazy. Haven't been to the beach and I could have gone today.

Michele..I wanted to tell you that I do have a terrible problem sleeping through the night and this started with my diagnosis. When I was hospitalized during chemo I asked the doctor for a sleeping pill (I was allowed to go home each day and return the first few days til they put me in isolation after they figured out what I had) and he gave it to me and then told me not to take it because he was afraid I'd have a reaction to it and they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me. My onc later on refused to give me a prescription and this new resident I saw the last time was all ready to give me one. I didn't trust her after these other doctors who were not residents advised against them, so I've never taken anything.

But, last night I slept like a baby! I went to bed at about 1 a.m. because I had gone to a concert and I slept straight through til 9 am! I was in shock! I need to go to more concerts!

Instead, I'm drinking my favorite white wine and attempting to design a card! yea, right!

Laura , I always thought that wheni retired i would do an Edwardian dolls house - now i just help Catherine with hers! We are lucky to have a cute dolls house shop in town , but we live near the Dolls house Emporium in Ripley which is good to. Catherine buys the bits herself , or has bits for Christmas and birthdays etc - she is wanting to put electrics in soon.
It has to stand on the floor in the hall now she has a basement in it as it is too big for her room. we use www.dollshouse.com a lot as it is near us

I was just reading about this in a novel! How strange is that?? I love miniatures. I haven't worked with doll houses though my mom built one that she never painted..it was a kit..she did it for my daughter when she was little.

I draw miniature pictures, though. I love small things. (ok..do NOT go there! )I love going to museums that have miniature historical rooms.

OMG - I love miniatures too! I make x-mas trees covered with minis that I collect at flea markets and antique shows. Each tree is only about 11" tall, but it takes a couple of weeks to finish. I wrap empty boxes of mini stick matches in x-mas paper and make mini bows (less than the size of a pencil eraser) and put the mini packages under the trees. In my arts & crafts room, I have many jars filled with minis.

Also, the Museum of Science and Industry in downtown Chi-town has an incredible exhibit of the most incredible doll house (ravdeb-is this the one you were referring to?). It's expansive and the furnishings are amazing the details incredible. You may want to put that on your "to-do" list when you're here.

Maryanne, Congratulations.....I LOVE peanut buster parfait's. I may just have to go and get one since DQ is open now.....lol

Debbie, Those balloon pictures are amazing. I am thinking maybe I could go up in a balloon after all. It depends how high and how long.......You sound like you have a very talented Dad and some wonderful childhood memories.

Michelle, You got me on a roll now. I want to redo my house. I really need to blitz this place and do a little touch up painting in some of my rooms. Nothing major but I do plan on throwing a lot of stuff out. I may just use your wall color too in one of my room's.....lol

Rosemarie, Rocky is beautiful. My husband would love him.

Laura, I keep forgetting to tell you. The Iberostar is where my sister stayed in Cozumel. She loved it and want's to go back there again next year. I also had a doll house which I made from a kit. My grandson got into it when he was little and broke a couple frame's off the window's so I sort of gave up on it. It turned out to be a dust collector so I ended up selling it in a garage sale. I never finished decorating it but I did have some cute miniature's I was going to use. I also wrap little boxes to put under a miniature Christmas tree I have. It shouldn't surprise me that we both have the same idea's.....lol

Swimming across the Atlantic looks like the easy part compared to all those driving directions. Yikes!! I'd get lost, I think.

I'm going to vote for crate training. (Are we having a vote?) My experience as a aunt to several canines of different varieties is that if they feel comfortable in their own space, the crate, then the dogs will not be upset if they have to be isolated for a time due to illness, surgery, or injury. My sister's yellow lab had to have a knee operation and her recovery required inactivity. So, in her crate, she was safe and unable to hurt herself while she healed. Then when she got really old and confused, her crate became her safe place where she could sleep soundly. Like someone said, if we said, "Go to your crate" she simply got in there and made herself comfortable.

Remember how I said I would be meeting my sister's new dog, Stella? She is a black lab and the sweetest thing. We are totally incredulous that someone would give her up for adoption. It is evident that someone has taught her good manners and obedience. The vet estimates she is 2 years old. I am staying with her and the older dog, Sinclair, tomorrow and Friday. Even though Stella is not technically a puppy, she has already chewed up 2 pairs of shoes. I've known labs to eat TV remotes, eye glasses, and bread and angel food cake right of the counter. I recommend the books by the Monks of New Skeete on puppy raising. They support their monastary by breedeing and training puppies. Great books on dogs!

    Going to the gym now.
    Later,
    Mary
