My kitchen is bright white with stainless steel. Ilove it - my last kitchen was maple and that forever looked dirty! Catherines friends think its cool as it has a retro feel with the curved doors but modern with th ecurved cooker hood - i just like it cos its curvy!! The best bit about moving ws getting room for a big fridge with ice. You take them for granted but here they are a novelty - called American style fridge freezers. Roger worked on a house the other day where all of the appliances were Barbie pink - even the cooker and fridge!! Michelle - perhaps you could consider that for resale??!!

I love beaded things. I love beads. I love shiny things. My daughter is embarrassed to be around me sometimes when we are shopping. I don't wear any shiny things...just love the look and wondering when I will buy stuff like that one day! I'm a pretty plain dresser.

If you do decide to "buy stuff like that"...check out my all time favorite place to shop:

    Your new avatar looks great!

    ------------------------------------------

For the race car enthusiasts here:

This is funny...at least to me it is! dh and all his gear-head car-dude buddies worked all day yesterday hooking up the new engine in the Goat. And it's actually running now! AND MAN DOES IT SOUND MEAN! LOL So loud, that Buddy hid behind our Armoire! We need a bigger transmission - so we can't actually drive it yet, but hopefully soon. I woke up in the middle of the night - to the sound of the new engine! Roy was sitting in it with a big grin on his face! I yelled to him, "you're crazy" and went back to bed! LOL The first thing he did this morning...you guessed it...LOL His eyes weren't even open, pj's still on and he was in the Goat...an Eric Clapton cd playing...you don't think this a mid-life crisis, do you! LOL

In August of '05 right after my dx, the one thing that really helped me deal with the shock and fear, was taking the Goat for a drive. Usually after rush hour, and just before sunset, I'd grab the keys, tell dh I'd be back in about an hour and I'd head west. It was a very calming experience. It was also a time to privately shed some tears about my dx and the upcoming Mast. (I've read that some girls secretly cry in the shower.)

So now that the new and improved engine is in I'll soon be, once again heading west, only this time, the dx is way far behind me and my plan is to beat it!

    Happy Sunday!

The snow almost all melted in our backyard and it is one yucky mudy mess!

I painted the basewall walls yesterday, vaccumed the cobwebs off the ceiling. Today I organized one whole section of the basement, neatly putting everything in its place. My hubby straightened up his work bench area and Wednesday when he is off he is going to get rid of more crap and old furniture. We can actually see some of the floor now. It is slowly starting to look presentable. Once it is all organized we have to sweep, clean and paint the floor as it is concrete.

Today’s chores are to finish laundry and get some groceries. Hubby is out taking pups for a walk, I took them yesterday.

Last night we had my brother in law and his wife over and they stayed until 1:30 a.m. which is way, way past my bed time. We had a good time, lots of laughing and my hubby was getting tipsey with his brother and my brother in law’s wife and I sat there laughing at my hubby trying to dance to the tunes we had on. It was fun and I got up and danced too!

We are getting excited about the possibility of moving and have been browsing the net at new homes and drooling at some of them!

TracyNy – I love potato salad, my mom makes it the best. She makes mine and my sister’s separately before making the main salad as I don’t like eggs and my sister does do onions. What furniture pieces have you bought?

Gracyie – you look like your mom!! She is so beautiful.

Laura – your GTO looks like a really cool, shiny car! Who are all the guys admiring the car?

Kelly – thanks for the clarification. Hope you are feeling better. I was also raised Catholic, attended church when we were younger but don’t go anymore since probably my late teens. My mom’s older sister is a nun and has been in the nunery since she was 16 and she is now 82. Teryn probably burns a lot of her food off by running around.
Yah, chicken pox are bye bye.

Mary – I didn’t know that Marissa was a bc survivor. That is why she has so much compassion as she understands and “gets it”.

Tracyseattle – did you enjoy your birthday celebration?

Debbie444 – Catherine sounds a lot like you. She enjoys life and doesn’t care what others think of her, will they let her join the scouts, are there rules that you have to be male to join?

Deb- did you find out when your son his going to the army? We have a room booked with two double beds and get a cot in there as well if I know ahead of time we can request it as the room is already reserved on my credit card. I don’t know if Jill is coming? Paula sounds like she maybe a yes. A Barbie pink fridge and stove, OMG that sounds gross!

Victoria – I hope that your estrogen levels have come down or you get a reasonable explanation of why they have changed and can work on lowering them. I try to just use my right arm when cleaning or sweeping, although a pain it is better for lympodema prevention. I also make sure I have my sleeve on when doing cleaning chores.
Moving is a lot of work, gosh just getting organized to put our home on the market has been draining and tiring as I only do most of the stuff on the weekend when I should be relaxing somewhat after working all week. The payoff will be good though and isn’t too far away. I wear a sunscreen of 30 SPF, even more so since my bc diagnosis, don’t want to take any unnecessary risks now.

Linda – My hubby and I were looking at new stainless steel fridges and stoves and some of them are so gorgeous. Love the fridges with the pull out freezer in the bottom…Our new dishwasher is white and our older fridge and stove are an almond colour. The stainless steel dishwasher was more money than we wanted to spend since we are selling. The white looks nice.

Amy – did you enjoy your weekend?

    Maryanne – how are you?

Hello to all my other sisters….

Have a super Sunday, enjoy the spring like weather for those of us in the cooler climates.

    Much love

Michele..I won't know for a while about my son's army duty. I so hope it doesn't get in the way of the weekend. I'm counting on the weekend. But, I won't know for a while, I'm afraid. I'm willing to share a bed with somebody if we need to so we can add another person in the room... I plan to be there!

The Barbie Pink fridge was a Debbie in England story...of course! Have never seen pink appliances (except in my daughter's doll house!)though you can get an awful lot of different colored doors on the Amana fridges now.

Tracy..hope you are having a super birthday!

Darn just lost my whole post, I know better.

Happy birthday Tracy. Hope you had a good girls night out. It must be nice to be settled in your new home. How things have changed since last year.

I ahve a new white fridge. Went out to buy the stainless one but was warned about the finger prints. My fridge is coverded with pictures and notices.Covered. I collect magnets on my trips, good strong ones. I think it looks great.

Have you had your biopsy yet kellY? hOPE ALL IS WELL. tERYN IS NO DOUBT SO HAPPY TO BE HOME. Buffets are nothing like a MMom's cooking.

Good to see you back Brenda, thanks for the birthday greetings. How are things with you?

Victoria, you need to have a dumpster party. You invite all your children and rent a dumpster. Then have each pick aroom and cart out whatever is not to be saved. We had fun doing this at Mom's. Nothing was too big to throw in there. Old dishwashers, a thousand old flower pots, youknow, the kind of stuff that no one is ever going to use again.

I paddled for the first time this season today. We will meet every week at a local hotel until it is warm enough to paddle in the water. We all sit alongside the pool and go through our routine like that. It works well, I am beat. I have lost my paddling muscles. Our festival is in early July so we have to be in top form by then. Paula did I read that you have joined a team. maybe you can organize them to travel to Canada.LOL.

I liked the "wild" mom pics Graycie, you do look alike. I can not see your new avatar yet. I bet your hair is growing...

Any news from Rosemarie and Cathy? Pictures?

Passover sounds like a lot of organizing. It will be worth it to share the season with your families. I love Easter, maybe more than Christmas. The teens in our church put on The Way of the Cross-a pageant about the last day of Jesus. It is always well done and very moving. My daughter is the leader this year and sings the JC Superstar song I don't know how to love him. Later in the weekend is the Easter Vigil, thtis nice too. Then there is the CHOCOLATE....Swiss chocolate.mmmmmmmmmmm.

Laura, put on your shades, and GO!

Hi Amy, Tadah, Scottishlass, and anyone else.

    Fists up!

ok ladies - what an awesome weekend! I met Cathy for breakfast this morning - brought the whole family- she is such a sweet, wonderful person!! We chatted the entire time and she SO patiently listened to my kids go on, and on and on!!! (AND ON AND ON AND ON!) It was so wonderful! Here's pic:
    image
She's such a remarkable woman! It was hard to say good-bye! She was driving as far as she could today as she headed back home.
We spent the rest of the day playing outside. The kids even played in the sprinkler - it was THAT warm! We have a neighborhood FULL of kids so all the kids were out playing and the parents were chit chatting and relaxing. It really is spring!
Well, I wanted to post before it got too late - I can't wait until we all meet in person - you are all such an awesome blessing to me!

Rosemarie/Cathy - that picture is truely priceless. Your smiles light up the room. Rosemarie I cant believe how long your hair has gotten since your avtar was taken. Yes, Yes I cant wait to meet everyone in August, 4 more months to wait.

You can buy all of the appliances in pink ( donation goes to BC of course) but if you want Barbie pink you have to buy SMEG.
That is a great photo - i think Cathy is planning on meeting everyone one by one!! Rosemarie - you get younger in each photo that comes on - the remarkable regresssing woman!
Kelly - Mark is overly fond of the 'buffet' The chain 'Country Buffet' was his favourite last time we were there, he has already asked if he will see them again, and if there will be blue jelly for breakfast again - what is that all about??
Laura - i kind of know where you are coming from. Roger is like that with his cars too. When we moved from our first house , it was like a magic trick. It was a tiny house with a cellar, the only way in through a door in the house. Virtually an entire car came out bit by bit - that i didnt even know was there !! The car he has know is a Lotus Sunbeam - 1 of only 400 left - he treats it like a small child. he sits in that in the garage and brums it too!!
    Antway, bed time here
    Take care

I envy your energy! The old me had that level of it, but the new me (post chemo, etc.) doesn't! Keep up the good work...can't wait to see your new love shack! LOL Sounds like you had lots of fun last night...good for you! The photo of the guys is dh and the dudes that helped him get the engine running yesterday.

    maryanne -
I envy your energy too! Dragon boats again...it's great that you have such a wonderful incentive to stay fit, and it all takes place in such a beautiful environment (referring to the open waters). I hate the inside of health clubs...LOL

    mary -
I love the character of old houses. Quite a few of my friends live in them, and have investigated their history. It's really interesting. Can you possibly put down sheets of 1/4" plywood over the rocks? That could be a quick and inexpensive fix. I don't know...just a thought/suggestion. I sent you something for your little friend. It should get there no later than Wednesday. If you don't receive it, can you please let me know?

    Debbie -
While we were working in the forest today, the tire fell off of a car while it was driving on the road in front of my house! The tire came flying into the forest - not all that far from where we were working! The first thing that came to my mind...OMG that is something that would happen to Debbie. The guy was okay, he did a good job at keeping the car under control. My dh carried the tire over to him and high-fived him! A tow truck just came and towed the poor car away.

    --------------------------------------

Hmmmmm...I wonder how Tracy's spending her special day!

    ------------------------------------

    EVERYONE -

Hope you all had a great weekend...
this afternoon, dh and I chopped wood in the forest to replenish our fireplace supply. It felt good to be outdoors, but I just don't have the energy I used to have. My chainsaw weighs only 10 pounds, but now all of a sudden it feels like 30! I really need to continue to force myself to the health club - until we get our exercise equipment in the basement. Then I really do think that I will be able to tolerate the dislike of it.

    Have a great evening!

Michele, my hair sticks out all over my head. To get any peace I have to smear some cream on it to weigh it down. I kind of want to cut it but I have this thing about seeing it long again. At least I know I look OK in short hair now.LOL>

Laura, a CHAIN SAW???? I let my DH do all that kind of work...be careful.

Laura, I am glad you see my new avatar. Since you are the only one seeing it, how do I look? I'm laughing because I don't have a new one..............lol.....Still the same one....haaaaaaa.....I want a new one though. .I like the picture's of the Goat. That is funny about Roy getting up in the middle of the night. That's cute, he's like a little kid with a new toy.....lol.. I took a sleeping pill last night and apparently got up in the middle of the night myself only I don't remember doing it. My husband told me this morning. I guess I was really out of it. Apparently my darling little grandson was on the computer at 4:00 AM and I got up and told him to go back to bed. Can you believe it? He said he couldn't sleep.....I think he is addicted to the d** computer. Gee, I wonder where he get's that from........lol
Thanks, I just ordered the Boston Proper catalog.

Linny, Just re-paint your cupboard's white to match your refrigerator.

Debbie, Your kitchen sounds nice. You will have to post some pictures of your new kitchen. You too Michele when your's get's done. Pink appliance's that's funny.. They have a new one out now that looks like stainless but doesn't show the finger prints.

Michele and everyone else, Thanks for the compliment on my Mom . And Maryanne, yes, my mother was a little bit on the wild side. lol
Victoria, You are almost right. The picture was taken in the early 70's.

Rosemarie, Love the picture of you and Cathy. You both look wonderful. I told you that you would love Cathy. She is definitely a remarkable women.

Kelly, I hope you are feeling better. As much as Teryn had a good time with her grandpa I bet she is glad to be home with Mom.

Tadah, Don't go crazy with all that money....lol......I know, if you are anything like me it is burning a hole in your pocket. Good Luck once again with your furniture man. I see he hasn't changed.

Amy, I hope you are having fun in NY.

LOL I wonder if I just now am seeing your latest avatar! I have had probs in the past with seeing avatar updates. But anyway...you still look great! LOL You are so funny with the grandson and the dh! LOL You're right...Roy's like a kid again! And btw...I'm worried...I had a very sharp pain in my left temple today, followed by a very sharp pain in my right knee! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

    -------------------

A bunch of us were all posting at the same time!

Love you all, mucho! Can't wait for AUGUST! Sounds like some of you will be needing bunk beds! I love it! OMG

It was 75 degrees here today in southeastern Minnesota, which is VERY unusual, but VERY welcome.

DH and I went bike riding on our favorite trail along a river through a woods and it was just wonderful. When we got back to the car, we laid back on the grass and watched the white puffy clouds in the deep blue sky.

During the winter, we have a giant pane of glass that goes in the screen doors on the front and side of our house. Today we swapped the glass out for screen again and our cats were ecstatic! However, I'm sure we've now jinxed our town into having another foot of snow before May.

The ground is still frozen here. I did see the first bit of a crocus peeping through by the step.

I just cleaned up puke!!!!!!!!!! My youngest began to vomit in his bedroom , then proceeded to my white-carpeted bedroom to tell me,spew,I hurried him to my bathroom, spew all over the floor and toilet, thought he was done, took him to his bathroom, spew, allover the floor and toilet. Poor kid. I showered him and he got out only to spew again, luckily hadn't cleaned up yet. So, I had 1 bed to remake, 2 bathrooms to clean a full load of laundry and an attempt to gat stains out of white carpet( what was I thinking, oh yah had no kids when I moved in). And you know the worst thing is knowing that this may go off and on all night. Please let it be just this one episode. He is 13 now and has not made it to the toilet to throw up yet. I put a bucket by his bed in case he has to vomit again.

    Thanks for listening!

Oh Maryanne, you poor thing and your poor son. I remember those days. I used to give them a towel to keep with them at all times when they were sick to put over their mouth's if they had to run to the bathroom. I also gave them the bucket just incase they couldn't make it that far. I hope you don't get it.

Tracy--- Happy Birthday, it's definitely time to celebrate and rest!! Hope you and Dave are happy in your love nest.

Laura, love the Boy Roy story and pics! I bet your knee is just from overworking out there in the forest. I bet that man was embarrassed he lost his whole dang wheel. LOL ... but not funny when it happens to you.

Mary, I sure hope your friend in faith are faring better. I am still so sad about the young girl.

Mary-Anne, YUK ... but been there, done that ... over and over. Its hard when our kids are sick, especially when they are vomitting!!!!

Tadah: did you go shopping yesterday??? What's the latest on the drunken furniture man?

Linny and dEBBIE: I hope you are happy with your preparations. What day does it fall on this year. It's next week, right?

Michelle, I am glad you have the energy and a helper. I could help you serve the drinks but too tired to help clean!!

Victoria: you know you should wear more than a 4 SPF!!! Pretty soon you and Dave will be back in a homey comfy place again. I envy you. You did live your dreams and now you have more to live.

    ---------
Teryn is home, happy and we just made fresh orange juice in my juicer. I got a good deal on load of oranges and it's the first time she has juiced. I might try to keep it up but it's not easy. I did it years ago when I lost weight ... carrots, apples, celery and oranges were a staple.

Of course, we had to go to the buffet this morning. Like my dad said, he thinks she enjoys the freedom to get up and roam in public .... freedom to go get her own chocolate ice cream or more chocolate milk. Eating something little and going back again for another small serving of something else. We went to church, too. She informed that yesterday they went 3 times. There was a wedding about to happen and she had my dad stop so they could see the pretty lady get married!

    Hi Everyone!

Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes! I had a good day, but it really was kinda quiet. I spebt most of the day hanging around the house and unpacking my stuff.

Dave took me out to dinner at a nice restaurant on the water, we had a very good dinner and watched the ferry and boats go buy. Key Lime Pie for dessert!!! YUM!

I had fun with my girlfriends last night too, but I didn't get home until 12:30am!!! I am way too old to be out so late!

We are watching Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel - AWESOME!!! It is a 13 episode series, Sunday nights at 8pm packfic time. You should try to watch it - it is incredible....

Thanks again for all of the good wishes - love you all!

It's still officially the 25th here, so hoping this is not belated. Happy Birthday Seattle Tracy!

Things are just going very well, ladies. Some joints ache, but I'm sure you all can relate. Not sure if it's part of growing old or left over from chemo. Wow, chemo... seems like ages ago.

We're having spring-like weather in San Diego, which is unusual. Normally at this time of the year it's a bit gloomy. But the flowers are blooming, and Angus gets burrs on his fur during his walks, and he really likes it when I take the time to pick them out.

Amy - do a google on ants. There are heaps of ways to get rid of them without chemicals.
Here in Sydney we have a much more disgusting problem -cockroaches!!! Huge ones, 1.5-2 inches. You can spray them and hit them and smack them and they are still alive... yuk. AND THEY CAN FLY!!

Laura, love the car. You hubby must be very happy!

    Tracy - Happy Birthday!!

And here is my D'oh moment for today: used a face wash in the shower instead of my hair conditioner. My hair is sure clean now.

    hope everyone is well!

Oh - I am impressed - you have your own chainsaw - hmmm, wonder why i am only allowed my own paint scraper!!
My fridge is one that looks like stainless but isnt so th efingers dont show. Its for Rogers sanity - he spends long enough polishing the cooker as it is!!
Cockroaches - euch . We had those at the boarding school i went to for a while. They were horrid.
Mary - is your cellar not tanked?? Or is it coming in throught somewhere other than the walls? We will club together and get you some decent colourful wellies!!
Maryanne - i feel for you . I really dont do sick very well.

Rose Marie and Cathy..I LOVE the picture of the two of you! It's so much fun to meet each other and it's so much fun to see the pics! I think that none of us will get any sleep on our weekend! You both look so fantastic! Your smiles, your everything! Can't wait to meet everybody!

Tracy..sounds like a great birthday. That is how I usually celebrate mine..dinner out on the water at my beach. I just did it big time this past birthday!

My dh just had a birthday but he has no time to celebrate. I hate this time of year. I am bogged down with Passover and he is into the height of his fruit season. I won't really see him again until July!

Paula..we have those huge flying cockroaches here, too! ONLY RAID kills them and then you need an entire can of it! What ARE those things made of? The first time I saw them was the summer we got married here and they reminded me of something out of a movie...The Attack of the Giant Cockroaches!

Ants.. we have them in our kitchen now, too. My friend said to wipe the area with vinegar. They don't like vinegar. After a couple of wipings, they really were gone!

The other solution is to find the hole they seem to be coming from and clog it with salt. They apparently will avoid the salt.

My kitchen smelled like a salad bar for a while but it worked! I refuse to spray anything in my kitchen.

Cindy..are you coming to the weekend? I can't remember...

Kelly..Passover starts next Monday evening. yikes! My horoscope today said to relax and not stress over things and to just do what I can. I'm taking that to heart! I will get what I can get done and the rest will just have to wait til the holiday is over!Happy with my holiday preparations??? NO! I am frustrated with some recipes that I chose and now realize that some of the ingredients we cannot technically eat. I'm ashkenazit and we omit an whole group of grains and seeds that the Sepharadim will eat on the holiday. In Israel this is a big problem because the majority of Israelis go by the Sepharadi tradition. I asked my daughter (my one member who cares) what she thought about adding one ingred that we don't normally eat, and she said NO! Boy, she's strict!!!!

Brenda..enjoy the spring. Spring is a season that comes and goes here before you know it. We will get a flowery tree for about 2 weeks and then it will be summer. But, it's a struggle. It will get intensely hot and dry here between winter and summer and then between summer and winter, then the temps will drop and it will rain (rain is winter) and then the temps will go up. It will do this for a while and then it will just be summer with no more rain til winter again. I hate the hot dry winds we get. My eyes hurt and nose fills up and I get sleepy. Have to drink tons of water.

Yes...Michele..where DO you get your energy?

Mary-Anne...hope your son feels better soon. How awful! I used to put a bucket next to my kids' beds, too. We have no carpets so clean up isn't too bad but it's better when it's in a bucket! I remember those days...My baby is now 18 years old. White carpet??? hmmmmmmmmmm.... A few years ago there was a congregational party at a member's house. The entire house was white...walls, floors (tiles, though) sofas, everything. The party was with food and wine (a holiday celebration) and we all sat on those sofas with the wine and I was nervous that I would be the one to spill on their white sofa! They had two kids, too. Wonder how they kept everything so clean!
