It really is pretty quiet here today. Where is everyone?? Having a wonderful day, I hope.
Judie, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today. Sometimes we just have to force ourselves to be positive, don't we? I've been more down lately than I have been since my whole bc journey started. Unlike you, I can't really figure out why. Hopefully, it will pass soon. Hang in there and keep smiling!!!!!!!
Jule, the cow story cracked me up! I can't imagine being run over by a cow that big. I'd pee my pants for sure if I saw one charging at me! Your poor nephew. I'm glad he's okay.
Good to see you, Jane. Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Hugs to everyone--Sue, Ulla, Shirlann, Wren, Lisa, Melody, Nancy, Lucy, Valsul, and everyone else who comes to visit here. Love you all!

Hi all! I went to the mall today to get some things for my trip. I just hope I am not getting sick! I have a sore neck , headache and my eyes are hurting. I think it is sinus pressure/headache. I had two full blown hotflashes in the mall , my head was soaked and I walk outside into a cold wind , and that didn't help at all. So I took some aleve and made dinner. So I thought I would stop in and see how everyone is doing today. Jule , I loveeee the story of the little squirrel! How cute. Poor little guy , I wonder what happen to his paw? I bet he loves those peanuts. I love squirrels and chipmunks. Alot of people don't like chippies cause they chew alot of things up. And make lots of holes in the ground. But I love them. I feed them in the summer and sit out side watching them. They are so comical. Oh the cow story was to funny. I'm glad no one was hurt. Kids are funny.xxxx
Hi Karen , You're still feeling down? I hope you're feeling better soon. Do you have any antides? I know you are taking effexor aren't you? I wasn't sure if it is for depression or anxiety. And I'm taking it!lol But for hotflashes. The kitty card is sooo cute!xxxx
Hi Judie , I hope you had a positively beautiful day!xxxx
AE , yes , it was quiet here today. I hope Sue is resting though. She so needs it. I hope UB is feeling better. Hope you had a restful Sunday.xxxx
Hi Sue
! Hope you are catching some zzz's. Thank you soooo much for the lovely Easter card. It is precious. Take care.xxxx
You know what ladies? I haven't seen Mia here since Feb.. I hope she is OK. Mia , come check in , you know how we all worry.xxxx
Ulla , I miss you.
OK ladies , I'm gonna see if I can get rid of this headache. Love you all.
Hi gb , Lucy , Lisa , Mia , Wren , Nancy , Valsul , Ulla , Karyll , Shirlann and anyone I may have forgot. Hope you all had a peaceful weekend.xxxx

Hi sisters!!!
Happy Birthday Mia!
Nothing much new around here. Just picking stuff to take on the trip. Can't take this, can't take that through airport inspections. What a mess. Walt takes eleven different prescriptions, diabetes and heart disease, so I usually put the whole lot with our many vitamins in little individual baggies, so he just has to grab one each day, well, they tell me "no way" I have to take the bottles!! This is insane, there are so many bottles, I will develop back trouble. Oh well, all in the name of security. What can you do?
Where is everyone, we have pretty Karen and hopefully, the birthday girl, I guess everyone is taking Palm Sunday off.
I hope we don't get some weird disease, but they tell us we only need Yellow Fever, but what about Malaria???
YIKES! I don't want that. Well, not much else going on aro.und here.
Love and kisses to you all, Shirlann
-
Hi everyone, back to work Monday. I had a very NORMAL Sunday: church (lo-o-ong Palm Sunday service), and then started an extra-large crock-pot of chicken cacciatore. Early evening I went to a charity concert given by come local singers...beautiful-voiced tenors who did an all-Irish concert. Then we had a family meal (most of my local family). Even normal to the point that my 16 year old daughter said she had a late lunch so would skip dinner with us, LOL.
Happy St. Patrick's Day. Did I tell you I'm almost 100% Irish? Who else is wearing green today?
-
Hi everyone, I had 3 pages to catch up on before I wanted to post. so much going on.
Nancy, I have a floral print top with green leaves on today, I follow tradition and wear green.
towhee, It is good to see you back. I also did not need chemo or rads after my surgery last June.
shirlann, My hubby also has problems with his meds, in the Semi he has to have original bottles for his meds because of DOT regulations. He has a plastic shoe box to keep his meds/vitamins in. He is on glucose lowering, blood pressure, cholersteral, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Needless to say the box is full. They want the original bottles to make sure that they know what each drug is by looking at the bottle and they can monitor for drug smugglers - not that you are one.

A quick hello to my sisters. I am still feeling bad. I rested all day yesterday, and still don't feel better today. I am very weak, which I am sure is from not eating. NO appetite.
Mel, I hope you feel better. You don't want to be sick for your visit home. My whole thing started with the really bad headache.
I think I will call the doctor today, to see if I can get in.
Sorry, I am not commenting on all that has happened since Friday. I read it all, but too tired to type.
xoxo

Ladies, I wanted to post this information for you. Some of you I have your emails and sent it. It's very interesting. Lot's of foods to avoid!!
News from John Hopkins
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY (TRY THE KEY WORD) AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .
Cancer Update from John Hopkins:
1.. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that th ere are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying
and forming tumors.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to
genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the
immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy
cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liv er, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of
chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised
or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.
Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder .
By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like Nutrasweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus.
By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved..
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.
A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains
livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment ..
About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed
and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)
and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.
Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water- best to drink purified water, or filtered,
to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest
and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more
enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.)
to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells.
Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.
Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and
forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to
get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.
PLEASE READ ON
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at
Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.
Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water
in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto,
Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.
He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in
the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the
combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.
You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc.,
should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is
in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the
fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be
cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat ca uses poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the
plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life. orwardSourceID:NT0

Hi Lisa,
I sent you a PM about the email you received. I'm so sorry -- I wish I didn't have to post this contradictory information -- but I think it's important to note that Johns Hopkins did not issue those statements. This has come up here on BCO before --
here: http://community.breastcancer.org/topic/78/conversation/700786?page=2
and here: http://community.breastcancer.org/topic/7/conversation/699641?page=1#idx_20
Here is a link to some more information from Snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/cancerupdate.asp
The Snopes page also has a link to a Johns Hopkins disclaimer issued a year ago.
I would love for all the things in that email to be true -- but the fact that they need to be falsely attributed to researchers who did not say these things doesn't give me confidence in the statements.
Oh well -- at least this means we can enjoy our chocolate, right?
With love,
Ann
-
Thanks Ann, I am actually somewhat relieved to read that it's false information. I was starting to wonder what I could eat! lol.
-
lol, Lisa -- "I was starting to wonder what I could eat!"
I know just what you mean!
-
Yes, and I had just read elsewhere the OPPOSITE of this report's advice regarding green tea and essiac. Plus we all know that soy is NOT good for ER+ breast cancer, right?
So while there may be some things in here that are good for maintaining a healthy diet, they are NOT cancer-fighting.

HORRAY! I just heard that my drugs have been approved and are being shipped to my onc in time for my Thursday appointment. I may regret it if I feel poorly over Easter weekend...missing the ham and lamb, but I am so glad it will begin. I know my body, and I know when changes are happening, and I know this has to be hit NOW.
Ah, the luck of the Irish? Maybe I should pick up some lottery tickets on the way home, LOL.
-
Congratulations, NancyD! Faith and Begorrah!
-
Nancy, the luck of the Irish has fallen on you today! If you get any lottery tickets and win, you have to share

Lisa - even though J Hopkins didn't write that article I still think it has allot of valid points. Thanks for posting it.
Nancy - I'm so happy that you will be starting treatment ASAP. If I remember correctly UB & I went out to eat and to a concert a few days after my treatment and I was fine. You should be able to have Easter dinner with no problem.
