In the 50's this is what a Wedding dress looked like......
-
Remember this game? Mousetrap? Sonny Fox gave me this at my Mom's work Christmas party. They hired him to emcee it. Anyone remember him and the show Wonderama?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltywPIWDohY&safe=active
Or this guy? Soup Sales https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKw651RQvMg&safe=active
-
Much prefer the 50"s wedding dresses than the hoochiemamma dresses I alter today.
-
Remember the show "My Mother the Car" with Ann Southern the voice of the car? OMG, I loved that show!
"1928 Porter, that's my mother dear..she helps me through everything I do and I'm so glad she's here!" LOL...still remember the opening song! YIKES!
-
FK - Yes I did wear those outfits. I am from Southern California but spent time in the San Francisco area and there were lots of hippies there. That was the "thing" then.
-
Ducky, I remember getting a baby burger and a baby root beer delivered to the car by girls on roller skates at A&W. I loved it! They stopped doing it when I was around six, though.
I used to pick up Veronica's face on the silly putty all the time and stretch her face stupid. I didn't like her. After about twenty times the putty turned the color of poo. Gross! -
Ducky, I remember the shoes that the gal was wearing in the photo of three of them. We called them hush puppies long before the shoes by that name now came out..
-
Ducky, I used to love going to the drive-up at A&W for a baby burger and baby root beer. They stopped doing it when I was in the first grade.
I always picked up Veronica's face with the putty and stretched her ugly. I didn't like her. If you picked up ink 20 times or so, the putty turned the color of poo. So gross. -
This was my father in the thirties..loved that look..so clean cut
-
Handsome fellow Lisa. It looks like an old-timey Hollywood head shot.
-
Socall.........I swear my next question before I read the caption was.....he looks familiar, but I can't put the name with the face....was thing "hollywood star".......great looking guy.........
-
Leggo.....LMAO.......
My youngest daughter had the first Fuzzy Pumper Play Doh set......loved it......all 6 played with it.........then their kids had it....and my kids would tell them..OMG.....Nannie would go nuts when we mixed the colors together, or left the lids off the cans..........LOL..and when I was with my grandchildren I would say "DON'T MIX THE COLORS".....
-
Wow, this thread is crazy busy - I love reading about everyone's memories.
I wish I could get back the countless hours I've spent on this one.
Edited to add: Love, love the old pictures of our family and ourselves.
-
Ducky your picture of the girls in 70s dresses made me laugh. I has a dress that length and like those. Had a maternity one that length as well when I was pregnant with my eldest!!! With my second I wore it as a top.
-
My mom & dad circa 1944. As an enlisted man, he survived Pearl Harbor. As the war was winding down, he received a commission and a new task, in Miami: training the new Taiwanese Navy to operate the ships we gave them. Though he had only a high school education, he had a natural gift of linguistics and taught himself Mandarin – and nine other languages.
-
Lovely photo Magdalene. Nice looking couple!
Ducky, is that you in your wedding dress???
SoCalLisa, Your Dad was dreamy!! Isn't that what they said in those days???
Here is my Mom and sister. My sister is 13 years older than me......I love how they all look so neat and put together.
