INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

hoping tomorrow goes better than today:
- still fighting insurance, now they have me locked out online too
- on my way to my 2nd interview this week, got stopped for the first time, first driving ticket ever! Asked for a warning, but couldn't (said he had already called it in) but made it the lowest amount possible. Cop was nice, told me I could fight it but told him he was doing his job, I was the one in the wrong. Who knows about the interview, been told I'm over-qualified so many times.
- long parking lot freeway drive home so for the first time ever, I picked up a roasted chicken and salads. All DH did was complain. Really? At least there was dinner made! Sheesh!
-
did I see this on BCO or FB?
Sorry if this is a repeat
-
I truly admire people who can spend that much time creating edible creations. I just wouldn't have the patience.
-
That's an adorable baby and sweater!
-
Good MORNing gals, and AnnieMae!
Smarty, was it YOU that did the Watermelon art? All so amazing!
Nettie...! Us gals love everything that breathes.... Some aren't so sure about snakes, but I love them all...Even the Chickens! Sass says they are pretty smart, and going by the way they act NOW, to when they were tiny, they really DO recognize me, and even being loose in their yard, will come up to me, looking for treats! So I just bend over, and pick one up, and pet her!
Squirrels are another story. We have lots, mainly because DH fixes up a pan of food every night, and fills their 2 feeders every morning. So that means they have to SHARE with the Wood-peckers, Crows, and smaller birds. The little mice down on the ground are doing rather well also... because of all the crumbs those other guys drop down. I must be the critter whistler! Ha!
DD thinks I am inviting TRUBBLE with the Mice, but they are way over by the fence... near the ditch... so as long as they stay THERE, no problems.
Those SIRENS yesterday afternoon were JUST LOUD! I had to take out my hearing aids! THOSE scare me worse than the storm! So DH came in out of his man-cave-garage, and then HE sounded worried with all the hail, and the RAIN coming in sheets! I asked him, "But honey, what can it DO?" Other than our ceiling leaking in the hallway, which I just threw down a towel, so no worries!
He stews and frets, and says "Those guys say the end of the world is coming!" And I looked at him and asked... "WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON?" For GOD's Sakes, we are having a STORM, not the end of the world!
WHAT am I supposed to do? Set him on my lap, and calm him down, and pet the top of his head? Like I would my Grand-sons?
I just KNEW we would live THROUGH this...
Rivers of water were running down the curb...! Leaves getting plastered all over our windows... It was hailing like HELL! But we did survive! Whew! I took pictures... to remind us how close we came to our demise.
Sassy, that was so sweet, what you said about the.... "Everytime you get blue, this is what I want you to think- onebreathinChevy. Out. twobreathincami. OUT. ."
Cammi, did you see that? She meant us! She likes us! That was so cute, anyway.
But what was that about an extra vibrator? You have TWO? For what? In case of a power-outage or something?
Smarty... That picture WAS beautiful, of your friends yard... EVERYthing grows in Ca... Just like Florida! Those DO look like Clematis climbing on the trellis... Your friend really makes it all look beautiful.
Yes Wren... I would have gone to the basement...(Cellar)... and waited it out. I remember that.... those drills for bomb attacks...etc!
Some even built a bomb-shelter, and stocked it with provisions for months! I mean I always wondered WHAT would happen when you LEFT that bomb-shelter.... If we really DID get bombed, there would be nothing UP there! Like that movie, with Christopher Walken...!
That movie was hilarious... but I forget the name!
That's funny, about us all under a table... and we couldn't get up! It's so TRUE! Ha, ha! Or laying down in the curb! WTH? Like I could maybe get DOWN, but not up without some sort of HOIST! I KNOW this! I was DOWN, and I've BEEN there!
Tang, I'm so sorry you are hurting! It's like you just want to take something to knock you out...! But don't do it... If your PS can't figure out all the pain, maybe get another opinion?
Susan.... who is Mr. Waldo? Cammi, YOU know? He's hiding something, that's all I know... Oh, and darling sweater! I could never do that! I can only crochet in a straight line... no curves, or parts that go off in another direction.... I'm lucky to do THAT!
Funny cartoon! YOU should have BEEN there in that alley with us! Ha, ha! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry... Feeling so STUPID lying in the ALLEY of all places! I mean, you don't usually SEE full grown people laying down in an ALLEY! Without even a beer-bottle close by! If I was alone, I don't know WHAT I would have done! Start yelling? I couldn't even crawl! I was dead in the water.... But then from no-where.... (well, up the alley) came Steve, with his Dad, his SUV, and that wheel-chair! My guardian angel was with me...
DH was just about speech-less! And he couldn't lift me up.... Even with me trying to pull myself up on his pants legs!
But it's all over.... I'm not even walking with a cane now.... hardly ever.
Morning 22222nd! Has anyone heard from 444444? Or Lilshit? Or Jwow?
I copied that cartoon about the caterpillar.... and sent it to my Daughter's... The one in Orlando had these HUGE larva's of some sort, like some sort of citrus something, that turned into a Butterfly?
She had one in a jar, and she and the boys were keeping it "fed" and she watched it turn into a Butterfly! Some sort of "horn-dog"???
No.... I looked it up.... an "Orange Dog caterpillar!" It anchors itself to a stick... and eats the citrus leaves... Now ordinarily people would not think this was cute... but DD thought this was amazing! She broke off the stick... and put it into a jar, and watched that thing ... hatch? No, must be emerge? And turn into a butterfly, after sitting there, drying it's curled up wings!
So Sass... you guys in Florida know what I am talking about... You probably wouldn't go to the extremes as DD, but, well... she is just like that!
Morning Lee! What were you doing up so early?
-
*Owlettes*
-
morning everyone!Chevy....you had 2 days of tornados over there?? It's always nerve wracking when the hail starts coming, I know. We get sideways rain in Texas, I'm ussed to it now. Glad the leak didn't get worse.
Susan-thinking of you this morning and your appt. I know you will update us ((hugs))
This morning when I got undressed for the shower, I looked in the mirror at my seroma area. The part that was hard as a rock yesterday, appears to have softened, but now it is seeping fluid. I know this isn't good. Also, I don't recommend looking in the mirror first thing, it can be scary.
-
That is *skin weeping*.
-
smaarty, i vote clematis also. Beautiful garden. Love the mermaid even if she has her back turned to us.
Wren, that was a funny visual. Hopefully adrenalin would let everyone get up again!
Susan, that outfit was adorable! You really are talented!
Tang, sorry your having such difficulties. I also had many problems on my prophylactic side. (And for chevy and cami, thats not condoms!) all this talk of vibrators thought id better clear that up right away.
Teka, my cat always tries to swipe my food. Shes very good at hooking it right before i take a bite.
-
FBB yes we both know the difference, (don't we Chevy?) u splain it.
OK who's using the mirror--that a real drag to do--when I look into a mirror I see no reflextion oh wait no that would mean, nevermind I meant I don't want to see any reflection and yes I took a shower today and of course I smell luscious as usual. Today it's wild rasberry-Whoa--U know in my opinion if it's oozing Tang do u call the Dr.? Remember it's going to be a long weekend.
Well we should get our other Drs. report in today, I hope she let's us know.
Chevy there are street walkers and there are alley walkers--Need I say more? Another thing I always pictured CO as this state of beautiful mountains and fluffy snow and so resorty and all u every describe are barnyard animals and coops, U'r so funny.
2nd the dinner u described sounded great to me.
Oh F*ck my D is here, I the bthrooms.
-
no my gosh Teka....best picture ever !!!!!
Chevy...come on...where's Waldo ...have you never done those books? You must be pulling my leg...I can feel it..lol. You have to find Waldo on every page in the book . And every page is crammed with things he is hard to find. I have named my cancer Waldo. Sounds so much better than cancer. He actually sounds kinda friendly.
Let you all know later about tests !!!
-
Hey friendsJust got home from doc's and guess what happened?? As I was changing into their lovely paper cover, the part of my chest that had been seeping popped open and starting running all over my tummy and onto the floor. It was disgusting and I freaked. Doctor came in and they cleaned me up and calmed me down....he said it was an abscess. Put me on more antibiotics and told me that I'd have to pack it twice a day. I told him about how much pain I'd been in and he said that I should have gone to the ER, and that if I get that way again I better go.
I already feel some relief just from it bursting open and getting that junk out. He said I will likely need surgery, but first I need to get healed and thru chemo.
I'm just glad it burst open there and not at home!
-
Tang,
Unbelievable ! You might be able to write a book on what can go wrong. Hope the antibiotics kick in & you get some relief.
Did they teach you how to pack it ? Do you get to skip radiation since you had the mascetomy?
-
Tang...timing is everything...glad it happened there....I'm in your pocket ..I'm cool now too.
-
Yes, lucky in the doc's office!
-
No, I'm still supposed to do radiation. And yes, I think I could write a book too...I don't know why it's been like this!!Susan ((hugs))
Teka-that was the look on my face when it happened!
-
Tang I don't mean to upset u but he needed to do a culture and sensitivity. Sorry it's 3;50 my time est. Just because he thinks an antibiotic is going to work doesn't make it work. Antibx's do have special places they work. But without a culture you don't know if the bacteria is susceptible. Pleas, he could be making things worse with this paintball approach to wound care. Don't know what you can do now. Try and call the doc's office and ask for 1. Culture and sensitivity of wound 2. ask for a homecare referral for wound care.Homecare should be covered under you insurance. Do not let him talk you into going into ER for a dressing change. It would be a full ER charge. There's no way you can do a proper dressing change with where it's at. Dh doesn't have a clue. Please get the referral. I'll link the wound thread I did allot of work on for some other people having problems.
Poop on your docs head
-
He did do a culture....forgot to mention that. But I guess the antibiotics are just to get something going for now. As far as the would care, that is probably a good idea to get a home health nurse. I haven't seen the the opening on my chest, but I'm sure it is heinous. -
Tang okay I'll wash the poop of his head. He did the right sequence then.
New wound>> C&S, and start "best guess" antibiotic >> wound care
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/44/topic/754935?page=1
Ask for a wound care certified nurse to evaluate and make treatment recommendations. Please, use those words exactly, there's a reason
I posted that before I was done. Hopefully you see this before you called. If you didn't call again and ask. posting and continuing.
With the homecare referral and referral for wound care nurse. You will be assigned a homecare nurse who will do the dressing changes. She will likely try to teach husband to do dressing change. The homecare company should supply all wound care dressings and gloves. Some will supply the wound cleaner. They don't supply pour saline if it's needed. You may need a script for that.
The ideal is to have the Wound Care NurseWCN evaluate the wound first. They have very special training to eval and make dressing recommendations. There are specific dressings for different types of wounds.
The culture will be ready in 48 hrs. The sensitivity will be ready in 72 hours. Find out who is doing the testing. Find out who is going to get the information in 72 hrs MONDAY the holiday. The importance is to verify that the drug is the right drug. Even 24 hours can be major in how a wound behaves if the drug isn't sensitive. i.e. killing bacteria.
Ask wound care nurse about silver alginate and iso-sorb. But I'm sure there many new things since I left. Problem is wound care nurses are high enough in the food chain, they get the weekends off. So, even if you get the referral you may not see one until Tuesday.
Also, ask if you are a wound vac candidate. Wound vacuums are excellent when they are indicated for a wound. But they shouldn't be used in certain areas or over devascularized tissue like irradiated areas or old burns. Okay

TANG! OMG! That's all I can say! Good Lord Girl! Eeeeks! Oweeee! But it probably doesn't hurt as much now, right? I remember when the tech gave me a Mammogram, and I asked how long that Seroma would show up.... She said probably always, but it will go down, and get absorbed into my body.... BUT she said one time, they did a mammogram on a gal, and it did the same thing YOURS did!
Oh my God, I would have fallen over in a dead faint! If you would have been home when it burst, it would have been worse! Not knowing what happened! You got a leak!
Okay.... antibiotics.... Hope they help! Sometimes it takes more than one.... AT THE SAME TIME!
Yes... GGhole is right.... write a book of "Things that can go wrong, and probably will!"
GG.... what is a "mascetomy"? Are you taking spelling lessons from Cammi? Ha, ha! See? I understand ALL of you gals!
No.... Susan....still don't know about "Waldo"... Cammi.... I should ask you! Do YOU know? Don't tell me yes, because I won't believe you!
Teka.... I LOVED that coffee, cookie and cat-paw picture! I sent it to my Daughter's!
Tang! Yes! Tornado's.... or Tomato's.... Same thing! AND it's getting dark again! I just finished moving ALL my plants under the picnic table, or covering with plastic.... Kind of like closing the barn door after the cow got out... But weather is supposed to do the same thing for 3 more days!
And NO! Never look in mirrors... they are NOT our friends... Just cover all the mirrors in the house...
Cammi.... yes.... "resorty".... Good description.... but NOT lately...Ha!
and whatever else you said, I don't have a clue... Read your last almost-sentence.... Now YOU 'splain THAT to me!
One of our "critters"...
And part of my garden... Note the Rooster! Ha, ha!
And almost over! Some of the hail was still there this morning
-
Chevy, my mouse and my brain aren't working. To prevent my frustration, I'm taking an official spelling and punctuation break. This is different then my normal spelling and punctuation usage. This is official. Stupid mouse has to be clicked multiple times to get it to work. it's not really my brain. Brain is perfect. Yay it started with that "it's" in the last sentence. Not going to correct. nUH-no-huhh. Someone else has mouse problems. Join me, don't be frustrated.
Just realized I am a really bad typer.
Very happy you are safe. Do you have supplies for the next week at least??? Water, food, batteries, tp. At some point powers going to go out.
Love your backyard.
Talked with phillyisokay, her area didn't get very much bad weather. But more is coming.
BBL

-
Sassy, my love! I understand everything you say/type! The only reason I can get by, is because I type..(usually) like sending an email, on a blank page, then copying it, and pasting it here! THIS site does NOT correct anything! But my email's always run a red line through everything I spell! So I should be perfect! At least THERE... but not like now, when I am just posting underneath you...
I just have to kid you, or you would think I was sick! Yes, we have so many supplies.... You would THINK I am expecting to never leave the house for like 2 months! I am bordering on being a snack/food/ hoarder! We either have to quit going to any kind of the store that sells food, or wear blinders. We could stay IN for 2 months, I swear, and not go hungry!
BUT.... we do have chickens, foxes, raccoons that are eager to eat left-overs! OH wait.... squirrels, and birds... and meeces!
I'll take pictures whenever this weather straightens up, and I have flowers again! Thank you! I LOVE my gardens!
-
I found Waldo -
yeah Waldo...good job dutchris !!! Love it
Ok gals...r u ready
Over the last 2 1/2 years, I have never gotten further than 4 months on any chemo without Waldo coming back in same areas and spreading. I got checked at the end of five months this time instead of three....wanted a pet scan time out..lol. So you know my liver area is hurting so I thought here we go again...are you sitting down? Best scan ever !!!! All the spots were gone except for one small node uptake, which is smaller than it was five months ago. And the Prevacid prescription. Stuff I am suppose to b taking and am not....oppppps....should correct the "indigestion" that I prob have from 2 1/2 years of chemo....go figure.......so thanks for keeping me in all your pockets ....good news
Sad to see hail there Chevy.....beautiful day we r having here
I think I will sleep well tonight!!
-
-
Awesome news Susan!!!!! -
Susan, Wonderful news! Prevacid was a wonder drug for me.
Chevy, We have a very similar rooster. We were buying it for our 50th wedding anniversary present. A much younger couple we were chatting with bought it for us as a surprise. They said we were an inspiration.
I discovered this morning that if I put my left arm over my ear (right one is on pillow) and my right arm over my eyes, I can get back to sleep at 5:00am when the crows start their ruckus. I think I'm going to be feeling much better with more sleep and perhaps can stay up past 9pm.
-
Okay Sas, might be time to poop on doc's head...I just called my pharmacy to see if my meds were ready and they said nothing had been called in. WTF?? The doc's office is closed already and it's a long weekend. I'm supposed to start an antibiotic! I'm telling you I am so sick of doctor f-ups! Now I'm just holding out a little hope that between 5-6p is when the MA's make calls for medications. If not, I will be disturbing the peace over the long weekend. I'm not scared to do that anymore. -
Dutch, GREAT pic of Waldo!!
Susan, YEAH, YIPEE, HALLELUJAH
