BENNY! YAY FOR BENNY from all the other threads around here! Happy dance!
-
Oh BENNY That just made my day...Go celebrate !!!!! Yipppeee
And on a lighter note...I filed the paper work for a passport. Look out Canada!! If I do not have to have chemo, I am coming for Christmas. -
BENNY, BENNY, BENNY!!! So happy for you - what did I tell you? Hmmmm????? The raft is bobbing really precariously now as we are all jumping up and down for joy! YAYYYY!!!!!
S.A. Consulate and I are now on a friendlier footing, and they are assuring me that they are working hard, and doing their level best to issue a travel document to my son. I so wish I can wholeheartedly believe that . . . Yesterday I reported this foot dragging in an e-mail to the office of the Canadian minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and forwarded it to the S.A. Consulate as well. They did not like it one bit of course, but at least there is sudden movement in the right direction now - LOL. If you are not strong, you must be clever! This is so exasperating, but I am cautiously optimistic that something will happen now. -
Liefie.....Let no one underestimate the power of intelligent WOMEN. Hoping for a positive resolution to this mess by the weekend.
Okay, now Benny, call the mechanic and share some dessert and coffee. Seems to be my favorite offering...coffee We need a new story line, a romantic comedy to lighten things up!
Took the dogs for a walk, for the first time in 2 weeks. Gradually getting back into the routine.
Have a good evening ladies! -
hip hip hooray Benny is going on the farm to play.....
So Happy your results are finally in & you can now rest that pretty little head of your and rid those worries -
Wonderful news, Benny!!!!! Happy dancing, hang on all those on the raft
Morwenna - congratulations on the gold medal - can't wait for our next Timmies rendezvous, we'll get Benny playing the guitar. Nihahi - are you musically inclined?
Liefie - congratulations on a clear mammo - so nice of the radiologist to come in and tell you himself, glad you can go to SA with that off your mind; now we just need the SA consulate to get their act together. Looking forward to hearing good news on that front - hoping that it can be a worry free long weekend for DS, fiancé and the rest of you - now get busy on that dress hem
Momof2 - progress, take good care of yourself
Quick hi to everyone else, I've been having some migraine problems of late, all these weather changes here not helping. Bloodwork done yesterday for Friday's port removal
. One more long day of work tomorrow and then an extra long weekend for me.
Take care -
Morwenna....oops....forgot to add my congrats to your gold medal!!!! You were so sure you wouldn't be close to being in contention....pfft...you're the best girl!!!!!
websister....flute, piccolo and glockenspiel....pretty sure I've never seen any of those inside a Timmies
chinook migraines....

!!!!! Defo not fun....been there!!!
Hi traii!!!!!! -
Morwenna - big congratulations - well done - now your chorus can relax and celebrate - you must be so happy!
Liefie - good for you writing those letters to the big guns - looks like some positive action could be about rotate place. Praying for you and this situation.
Momof2 - I also love coffee - so I understand the pleasure of the experience of a good cup of coffee. Glad the drains are all out and that you are more mobile.
Benny - how amazing for you to hear benign - now you can relax and forget about mammograms for a while.
Hope everyone else has a great week - I am off to Mexico for 5 days - looking forward to the warmth of the sun! -
hi ladies !!!!
Websister good luck tomorrow !!!
Benny ..... So happy for you !!!
Morwenna - congrats !!!
Liefie ... Congrats to u too
Mom - positive thought for noooo chemo !!!
Gotta run at work just wanted to say hi to all u lovely ladies
Muah -

This is the first picture I have ever downloaded....Yay for me...This is my DD and soon to be SIL. This was one of many pictures taken for their Save the Date announcement. That's my girl
Hope everyone has a good day!
Jenifer -
beautiful !!! -
Jenifer, what a beautiful couple - they will be smashing on their wedding day! Oh, to be that young again . . . .
Last e-mail from S.A. Consulate yesterday afternoon made mention of a temporary passport that may be valid for a year. Nothing solid yet, but this is beginning to sound promising, and we are hoping and praying. This passport still has to get to Calgary from Toronto, and DS is leaving next Friday. I should have raised a stink much sooner, but DS wanted to fight his own battle, which is right. Somehow older people just have more clout, and are taken way more seriously, especially an irate rhinoceros mother - LOL.
Off to yoga. Laters, girls! -
Oh Liefie, I'd be so tempted to 'pull rank' and just deal with those SA slackers myself but I know you have to respect his wishes. And how admirable that he wants to deal with it himself. You raised him well apparently. Eight days should be enough time to get from Toronto to Calgary, both major centres.
Jenifer, DD is so incredibly pretty! Sparkly eyes and beautiful smile. And FSIL (future son in law) looks like a sweetie too. Lovely picture. How did your dog walking go? Are you feeling stronger?
Websister, the countdown is on for deportation! Do you need any help with anything? Drives, etc? I'm getting my drums out of the basement for the drum roll!
Okay, will write more later, Princess (dominant chicken) just knocked over the water bowl (again) and Charlotte is squawking at the top of her lungs so gotta run.....
-
Benny, the most exasperating thing in these cases is that one first has to get nasty, and threaten them before there is action. Why? It just boggles my mind. They've got every possible document of proof that DS is a dual citizen of Canada and S.A., but they are still dragging their feet. He's held a S.A. passport for the last 15 years, and he also has a S.A. ID book. There is just no reason whatsoever to deny the passport.
Websister, you must really be looking forward to have that port out tomorrow? Best wishes that everything will go smoothly, and that you will have a relaxing long weekend. Sorry to hear about the migraines. How is the energy coming along? -
Oh dear, I missed that part about a migraine, Websister? Again? I wonder if it's the up/down weather? I will forgo the drum roll for your deportation as that would not help a migraine.
Isn't that frustrating, Liefie? I know that the standards are different in different countries. When I was travelling through the Far East in the early 1980's my passport wasn't stamped just right (which was a bunch of BS) and I had a hard time getting into China. They held me at the border for hours. I finally got in. You know how I did it? Two American $20 dollar bills under the table!! True story!! Anyway, I always think when they drag their feet like that they are trying to make a statement to remind us that they are IN CONTROL. Pathetic. If they were really in control they'd provide better service! Just do your job already!
Still dealing with the chickens.... ~sigh~
-
Mom-lovely pic of your DD and FSIL! I am sure you are starting to get excited! I have four DDs....no sons. Two are married, and I hope the two that are not will just elope! I am STILL (11 years) so burnt out from both weddings being in the same year....I doubt if I have the strength to do another! How are the doggies?
Benny, maybe you could call the mechanic to help with the chickens? Okay, I am just kidding.....but YOU are an adorable pirate lady, and maybe he needs hijacking!
Liefie.....this could be turned into a joke...."How many SA consulate workers does it take to..........."
Websister.....deportation on the horizon.....how exciting! Celebration time!
Well, it is well after noon here, and I have to at least pretend to be doing something constructive, so I have to run....
Love you all! -
Thank you for the kind compliments of my DD. We are pleased to be getting a SIL and his parents are happy to be getting a DIL. Ahh to be young again.LOL
Funny thing about dog walking. I did okay with the walk but the horse field across the street must have sprayed chicken manure on the pasture. The stench is just horrible. The UPS man brought a package to my door and we were both holding our breath to get back into the house and his truck. But the pasture does produce a lot of hay for the horses! We just have to endure this about 3 or 4 times a year. See Benny, if you lived with me, you could walk across the street to visit Diamond.
Got a call today from Genomic Health letting me know that my insurance will pay 90% of the oncotype Dx. But due to the fact we are not wealthy, they are going to give me the balance for free. Yay, that was a $350 phone call. Glad I answered. So here we go again, wishing for a low score.
Benny, I hope you are enjoying a worry free day.
Websister...migraines are awful, but hopefully all things will ease off when your port is removed.
Let us all have a great weekend...I like to start on Thursdays -
websister.....hoping for a "smooth" deportation for you tomorrow!
liefie....don't get me started on red tape and bureaucrats....hope all ends well for Gideon.
momof2.....ditto/ditto....daughter and future SIL are gorgeous. She obviously takes after mom, eh! Hope the testing goes well, and that you get your post surgery plan sorted out soon. Love your "southern" stories! I see nothing wrong with starting weekends on Thursdays.....works for me!
movie....hope you and Dave plan a night out for his birthday....that is all that day should be..for both of you. -
edi......where the heck have YOU disappeared to???? I thought for sure you'd be posting photos of a celebration cake for benny by now???? Hope all is OK??? -
Okay, so This Cake is for Benny, Liefie, Maria, Websister, and all other sisters who have overcome the ups and downs of this thing we share.
The cake is yellow with pineapple filling...enjoy, sorry I could not get the coffee downloaded.
I need to practice more, but that will have to wait until my situation resolves itself. -
Ooooooh, Jenifer, you've got me drooling now - I just love pineapple, and that cake looks positively delish! Yum yum yum . . . Oh well, I can do one part - I'm making me a lovely cup of coffee!! No cake though - 2 more lbs to lose before the wedding in 3 weeks.
Yes, Edi, where are you? Have you tried the new oven yet?
Nihahi, I had the mother of e-mail fights with the S.A. Consul in Toronto yesterday - the mails flew back and forth like balls in a tennis match - lol. They accused me of lying to the Canadian minister of Immigration, my blood just boiled, and I lost it. Could not let them get away with that, could I? They did not like to be reported, they are guests in this country, so they have to behave - lol. But yes, I can't stand red tape either, and have had enough of filling out various applications for 5 people in threefold over the years. So happy my kids can do that for themselves now.
Movie, how many S.A.consulate workers does it take . . . . apparently there are not enough in Toronto! LOLOLOL! -
Adagio - have a wonderful time in Mexico!
Dakota - bet you have another busy weekend ahead of you with your beautiful children, take some time to be good to you also - muah
Traii - hi
DS picture on Facebook was so sweet
Benny - you make me laugh - you have had some adventures in your life - that situation at the border of China could have gone either way - glad it worked in your favor! Do the chickens lay eggs and, if so, what do you do with them - not part of your vegetarian diet?
I am good for a ride tomorrow but thanks so much for the offer. I do think the migraines are part of the weather changes combined with fatigue - that's what Dr. T is thinking - she has cut me back to three half days a week for the next three weeks, hopefully that will help. I told her they might have to put me out to pasture if it doesn't - do you think Diamond would like some company
Nihahi - we could do a mini-flash mob at Timmie's, maybe Benny will let me play the drums - softly
Momof2 - wonderful news re: funding for oncotype testing and thanks so much for the cake - I will have my piece tonight as I am NPO after midnight.
The genetics counsellor emailed me a link to the syndrome she suspects I have and told me they would be reviewing my case tomorrow with a geneticist - should be interesting, it would put a lot of puzzle pieces together for me.
Liefie - glad you didn't let that accusation go without challenging it - how dare they!!! Hope and pray all will fall into place now
Found it a little funny that I spent the week reviewing the booked surgical process at the various hospitals in our city, ending up at the one I will be having my port out at tomorrow. When I returned home I had a phone message from one of the people I interviewed this afternoon regarding instructions for my procedure tomorrow. Once again, thinking I am going above and beyond in my role to understand the patient experience and behind the scenes preparations!
Edi - hope you get tht Internet access worked out with DH, missing you
Take care everyone -
Hi

Sorry not read or posted for days
stupid internet !! Got data back but if I log on someone sulks.
So fed up.Benny have only read this page, Thrilled as gather it was good news ? Will catch up with last few pages in a minute. Finally got DH to get the oven yesterday, the one we wanted was out of stock by the time he stopped pxxxxxg about.
I just said nooo nice meals or cakes was fine with me. Off we go to just LOOK, then miracle of miracles he actually bought the one I REALLY liked. Being delivered next Wed, hopefully a nice roast and cooked pudding. The chickens sound a riot by the way.Reiki still being sent to you xMomof, cake gorgeous, and photo too.Hope no chemo and Canada happens.
Liefie, Can't believe what they are putting you through re S.A. Good luck, hope it all gets sorted soon.
Morwenna, congrats on medal knew you would be magnificent.

Websister, sending Reiki to you too for port removal. Hope all goes well and you feel free without it.
Adagio, Enjoy Mexico.
Nihahi, find a Timmies with a web cam please for when you all do the entertainment. It will rival any group in the world !!
Dakota / Traii, have a fab weekend.
Not long back from a walk from GD's school to the village war memorial. 90 little ones lots of grown ups and half an hour walk in the cold and rain. They were fascinated with the list of names carved in the stone cross. Their teacher said that even though weather was dreadful it was very apt for the ocassion.Little ones were so good and stood for a minutes silence ( miracle in itself )

Last night went over to theatre in Liverpool to see " Blood Brothers " it was written about 28 years ago and is an amazing story, funny and sad. It was my fourth time of seeing it.
DH in back room with lovely neighbour who is sorting out big computer with him so Edi's fingers flying like the wind on the keyboard ha ha.
Looking forward to weekend with ED and GD,Hope all of you have a pain free, happy and healthy o
-
Adagio, have you got your mammo results yet? Enjoy the sun in Mexico - what fun!
Edi, glad to have you back on the air, and yay for the oven of your dreams. Happy cooking and baking! I've always been fascinated with WW11. Read everything about it that I can get my hands on - there never was, and never again will be, a war like that. It has left an unforgettable scar on the world. Still remember how my father could quote parts of Churchill's war speeches, and it still sends chills down my back.
Websister, in your pocket today. Hope that procedure goes smoothly and with as little pain as possible. Also glad that you are getting more time off to get stronger, and to recover from that fatique. -
liefie - about the mammogram - my oncologist told me that if I didn't hear from them that it was good news - so since it has been almost 3 weeks, I think that is good news!!! Just off to walk the dog, then pack my case for a very early flight tomorrow morning! Looking forward to 5 full days of relaxing by the beach and the pool in the warmth of the sun - aahhhhh!!!!
Edi - congrats on the new stove - is it gas?
Websister - hope port comes out smoothly and that it doesn't't hurt too much!
To everyone else - have a great weekend. Keep warm and comfortable. -
my port and I had become quite attached over time so it was a difficult separation. I am numb
Wonderful to have it gone! You guys throw a great pocket party! -
Sorry it was so attached to you, but good riddance. Relax with some cake and coffee....cheers to a nice weekend.
((HUGS)) -
Websister....I am sorry you were so attached to your port...give yourself a few days, and I bet you won't miss it at all....
Adagio, did I miss where in Mexico you are headed? If so, I am truly sorry, but would you please re-post, so I can feel really good and envious of your trip to the sun?
Liefie....the SA consulate is ridiculo...as my housekeeper would say......I think the pre-requisite for working in that gov't is the inability to think in a logical manner......so sorry you are having to deal with this.......how things have changed, and in terms of smooth workings of gov't, NOT for the better.....
Edi-so glad you got your new over! I will be expecting a cake in the very near future! DH needs to volunteer somewhere, so he can feel "useful" again....and YOU can feel some peace and quiet!
Mom....I will have a slice of that pineapple cake.....with tea, please! Will you serve that in Yachats?
Spent the morning trying to figure out which compression garment(s) i need for after my LAST surgery in early December.......very confusing.......PS will have to tell me which he prefers (which he doesn't like to do) so I at least know I am on the right track!
Can you tell I am obsessed with the icons?????
Love to all! -
Movie...Oh I will bake as many as we want in Yachats! I have spent so much money on the Wilton products, because I had this crazy idea that I would make my DD wedding cake. For the money I has spent, I could have had a professional make a very nice cake. So sorry that the Ducks loss to a team with no mascot (Tree)....now I really want Bama to lose. My DH's late father got his degrees from Stanford and Ohio State, was a professor at U of O and UGA. But we are Duck fans. When my DD was in college in Charleston, SC she got the attention of several students and a major professor when she worn her Oregon spirit wear.
Liefie...are things straightened out with your DS...gee, I thought those situations only happened in USA.
Went out to get milk and the traffic was horrendous. Oh, silly me...it is Homecoming Weekend and all the alumni and their big busses are lining the streets. I am not going out again until Sunday.
Let's have a great weekend!!! Benny, are you still celebrating?
Jenifer -
Hi ladies....just back from the first snowshoe trip of the season....the photos will have to wait until tomorrow..too pooped to post them tonight. websister...just came on to see how your "deportation" went...sounds like you didn't give it up without a struggle, but glad to hear you final let go!!! Rest up as long as you need....maybe part time employment is in your future, as opposed to the stress of trying to get to full time. Think of it as more time to enjoy your garden and grand daughter!
Movie...Ade and I sent you some "phone photos" as we were getting ready to head up the trail today....bad quality, but we were laughing so hard, we thought we'd share the moment with you!
momof2....you just sound amazingly strong and fun, sure hope to some day be able to meet you!
