Is there anything I should do before my tatt appointment with Vinnie next week? I confirmed my appointment, but how did you pick color, etc.? In advance? At his office the day of?
-
Shore I did nothing vinnie is that good I just told him to make them real and even and trusted him to do what he does and I am very happy. I
-
i did talk with someone..said 5 month wait after any procedure (i.e. nipple reconstruction if i do it). said they are scheduling into march anyways..?? I told him I had spoken with someone day prior and left my number with that person who said they would call me back in a few minutes; but that I never got a callback regarding tattooing and response was..what questions do you have? Not a sorry, apologize for that..not a fuzzy response. I did tentatively take a date, but I have been doing additional research as well. Not sure if this is the forum to ask, but have any of you heard of TeeJay in NY? Thanks guys!

Mamma twins, there is a tattoo artist that I have been speaking to who studied under Vinnie. Her name is Renee Maschinot. Her photos look great and she comes up to Jacksonville and works out of a DR office. She wants to work in Charlestn but hasn't found an office yet. Google her and see what you think.

Everyone,
Thank you so much for your kind words and all of your responses, emails and support. It is always nice to know that folks want to come to me for tattooing and to allow me to help in any way that I can. It is a pleasure to help!
At my office there are only two people, myself and my devoted assistant, Richie, working with this project of doing nipple/areola tattooing for as many ladies/men as we can. We are currently scheduling 6-7 months ahead... 5-7 clients daily (8-10 hours). We are currently building another tattoo room that is intended to be available to allow me to move from room to room and increase the volume from 5-7 to 8-10 clients daily. We receive more than 50 calls a day in regards to NAC tattooing and it is very difficult to respond to all of them on the day received... but we are trying our best to do so. Please understand that it is our intention to answer all calls in a timely manner.
I am trying to do the best that I can to help as many women/men that I can while running two tattoo shops, managing a family with four children ( two in college and two in high school), attend kids sporting events when work allows me to, tattoo in two different cities each month and attempt to have some kind of personal life with my wife and kids. If we cannot return calls in a matter of minutes it is not because we are are trying to put someone off it is because there are too many things to do in the time frame that allows us to do so. I apologize to anyone that has been overlooked in any way... it is truly not our intention and we regret that it has happened but I am ashamed to say it might happen again because of the current circumstances.
It is our intention to work to fix these problems but it will take time to solve them. Please feel free to call (410-876-4638) or email me (vm@vinniemyers.com) and someone will get back to you as soon as we possibly can and do everything in our power to get the information to you in a timely manner. Messages left on the website (vinniemyers.com) will not always be the fastest way to get information... calling or email is best.
Again, it has been a pleasure and an honor to help all of you who have been affected by this dreaded disease. I have committed the balance of my tattooing career to this cause and intend to perform in a manner that is professional and compassionate as does Richie France my assistant. I hope that if you or anyone you know is in need of my services that you contact me and I will do everything in my power to help fulfill your needs.

Vinnie,
1) I'll be calling! You've been "my plan" since last year. Just waiting for my revision date, then healing up again.
2) Always family first!! This is a lesson best learned BEFORE you have to learn it.
I'd rather wait a little longer knowing the people helping me are happy and healthy and loved...
3) What you're doing is life-changing for so many people and we really appreciate it. -
Well said Dulcigirl!!! THANK YOU Vinnie!!!
-
Hi vinnie,
so glad you are able to help Sooo many people Sooo sad that this disease has affected Sooo many people.
I have a tattoo that was on my hip that dr d. Transfered part of it to make the flap breast. the whole tattoo did not make the transfer....
I sent pictures to richie back the end of august and made an appointment in Nola for december, will you need anything additional to fix the tattoo at the same time as my nipple tattoo?
It is the bottom part of a butterfly (top of it needs a wing) and color cleanup on the body, is that something you will be able to do in Nola ?
Thank you again for all of us that feel complete with your finishing touches, I know I am excited about them))
-
Hey Vinnie... You have been part of my plan for over two years. Of course I have delayed as I am still having revisions. I will actually be back in NOLA for hopefully the last surgery in November. I really don't want to schedule my appt with you until I know I am done, but at the same time don't want to wait many months for the tattoos... So should I make an appt for next spring now, knowing I may need to change the date? Or wait til December to have a better idea if I am surgically done, which I really think will be the case?
-
Marcie47,
You will need to call me at my office about other tattoos besides nipple tatts done in NOLA. I will explain what the deal is with that... If I am not available when you call I will get back to you as soon as I can. I will be at my office all of next week, Mon-Sat 9:30am-7pm.
bdavis,
You are a legend on BCO! I have been following your posts for more than two years... you are amazing with the support you offer to everyone on this forum! Your karma account must be over flowing...lol. I think it would be best to make your appointment for next year now. My schedule is filling up faster than I can keep track so get in the book as soon as possible. I am not sure the scheduling in NOLA so call Brittany for info... or call Richie in Maryland for appts there.
Good luck with the last revisions...! It is almost over... tatts soon! Can't wait to sit with you and talk and tat for a while...!
Vinnie

Ok... Thanks Vinnie. Dr DellaCroce thinks I should have it done in NOLA so you all can consult with each other... but MD is so so much closer and drivable.. No price difference, right? But in MD I need to submit to insurance myself?
And thank you so much for your kind words. I look forward to meeting you SOON!
-
bdavis,
No price difference that I know of... yes you will need to submit but a lot of ins companies have been paying lately. Anyway NOLA is WAY more fun than Finksburg, Md. Trust me on that one. Also what Dr. D says is always the best! He is WAY smarter than I am about these thing... well about everything...lol. Either way... see you soon!!!
-
Vinnie I am so happy with my tats they healed great very little flaking almost no scabs and the color is perfect
-
AWESOME.... this is what I love to hear!!! Man what a great job!!! V
-
Vinnie! Please let me chime in and say that I am in love with my Tats you did on September 18th.... I had no scabbing, just a minimal amount of flaking and they are the perfect color, size and shape. I couldn't be more pleased.
I called you the day of my CV Nipple flap surgery as I knew you were the one I wanted. I also knew you would want me to wait at least 5 months for everything to calm down and the nips positions to be in their permanent place. Richie made my appointment for exactly when he thought I would be ready.
Vinny will get back to you! I emailed him and he never failed to answer me back. Richie is great also and will answer any questions you may have. I don't know how they keep up the schedule they have and have any sort of personal lives. I am one grateful woman..in that sacrifices are made by Vinnie and Ritchie on BC women's behalf to give us back part of what we lost.
I feel normal and whole for the first time since my diagnosis and I smile every time I look in the mirror. Life is good, again! Thank you so much!
-
Bdavis....... I live on the Outer Banks of NC so we drove to Baltimore as it was closer. In my mind, Vinnie is going to do a great job no matter where you have it done. He is the expert on what he does, so don't worry if you would rather stay in Baltimore. He's the professional and has the "expert eye" for what he does. I'm sure your doctor would agree. Good luck and look forward to hearing about your results one day.
-
The Center called today and I have a appointment for April 8. I would loved to have had it done in Dec. but I think that may be out of the question unless they have a cancelation. But at least by April I should be well healed.
-
So I had a weird conversation this past week... Apparently, there are TWO Betsy Davis's... and I had a "who's on first" chat with NOLA on Friday.... They called me about my surgery in November, but when I called back, they thought I was the other Betsy Davis who apparently has her appt with Vinnie in February...
So, Vinnie, when you meet with a Betsy Davis in February, its not me. I will be sometime after March. I was thinking of spring break in March, but they tell me you won't be there. sigh. -
My appt w Vinnie is less than two weeks away. I'm heading to Baltimore. I have a little extra time the day before my appt, so I thought I'd take the train to downtown Baltimore, before I go back to the airport to get my rental car. (That way I only have to rent a car for one day.) Can anyone tell me how one gets to the BWI train station from BWI? Walk? Bus? Also, does anyone know if the trains are affected by the government shutdown? Thanks so much for any help you can provide. -
There are regular shuttle buses from BWI to the trains. Google Marc train and you should get to the schedule. Should say if trains are running, but Amtrak is running. You buy tickets when you get to the little train station. -
Thanks Marty! -
bdavis,
WOW... strange... that might have made for an awkward position ... thanks for the heads up... can't wait to meet you in March! v -
Can you please give me Vinnie's website? I am shopping around for a good ps. Thanks -
Vinnie, maybe you could start a private fb group to include docs to avoid if your getting a mastectomy.
you see all the work and know who is not good. a group like angies list- vinnies list!
i dont know how you do it. lol
do you ever get sick days? -
no sick days... no time for getting sick... knock on wood!
Great idea about the list thing... I have seen a fair amount of reconstructed breasts. Maybe something like post a photo of the surgical results then post the docs name...no critique just photos and let them do the talking. I would make a ton of enemies that way for sure but it may keep someone from getting a bad result. I will have to think about it for awhile before jumping into that cauldron. I will however offer my opinions to anyone that wants them... feel free to ask by way of PM or email.
I feel strongly that when the breast surgeon and the PS are working together, not necessarily in the same practice but together in approach, the results are almost always better. I also think that when the breast surgeon, PS and tattooer are all working together the results, in the end, are the best. I really believe that the tattoo is a massively important part of the recon... not just because I do them but because ... like I have said before... the perfectly reconstructed breast without a nipple/areola doesn't look like as much like a breast... and a bad tattoo on a great recon makes the recon look worse than with nothing tattooed at all. What we need is more "qualified" and "talented" tattooers doing this procedure... the key words in quotes! I would always suggest that you look at as many photos of the wok done by the person proposing to do the tattoos. If you do not like what you see DO NOT GET THE TATTOOS!!! That simple. no photos = no tattoos!
V -
Tomorrow's my day! So excited. BTW the Hampton Inn in Owings Mills is awesome! Also, can anyone tell me how insurance treats nipple recon in a new calendar year? I'm thinking my copayment and deductible reset - but maybe not. I know I need to file Vinnie's cost, but I wasn't sure if it is worth the trouble. Thanks ladies! -
Thanks kayb! -
I'm done! They look sooooo good. Way better than I expected. A news crew was there from wjla channel 7 abc affiliate out of DC. They filmed the whole thing! A segment should air in November.
I'm so happy I decided to do this. Vinnie et al were awesome! -
Congrats! I'm so happy for you! I want this done by Vinnie as well. I am thinking of doing the nip reconstruction and the tattoos as well. I think I saw somewhere that the tattoo doesn't work as well on a reconstructed nipple. Does anyone know about that?
