Okay Mods....thanks! Where did you FIND these "tech" people....? Ha! I'M the one that can fix anything, you SHOULD have come to me, if something were wrong with this web-site in the beginning....:(

Tell them their job is in jeopardy if they don't get it fixed fast! :) All I want is to be able to post pictures (again) and NOT misspell all my words unless I want to, and talk to my friends without all this hassle.

You mean all these problems are due to the goblins getting loose early? ;)

Sorry, I'm returning often to the complaint department. I also noted that though I can post..............I don't have paragraphs....even when I place them. When I submit my post they are gone somewhere.....outer space, under the bed....well, just gone.

I hope this won't take too long.....I miss my old BC. Org.

    Jackie
P.S. and thanks for listening to all my 100 and 1 gripes or whatever I'm up to now. Your the best.

OK Mods please ask your tech team what is mandatory script-wise before BCO (posting) will work? I know this may be different to what others are experiencing.

Before this site upgrade I could post with the toolbar present, smilies etc, by just allowing BCO org scripts but NOT "googleanalytics" "ajax.googleapis" etc. Now I can't. I realise my issues may be more on the technical side and most people don't look into this stuff, but if they understood it, they'd realise its worth understanding :-).

I like to block as much of google as possible as they track everything you do and more. This is NO secret for those who are particular about privacy and security issues. We all know BC is a VERY personal matter and some are OK with what others (including other 3rd party sites) can see and some are not. Some won't know what Im talking about. We need that option to be private about our BC as is indicated in your site documentation which we should read before we join. I believe some time back I asked about https. Is there anything being done with that?

Ok Mods. GG gave me a huge hand and I think I'm back in business. My tool bar has made a stunning reappearance and I'm assuming ( fond did at the same time ) that I'm going to quit ringing your chines near so often.

Thanking you and of course GG too.....she stimulated the idea of checking all of my settings....this is a very important piece of my life.

Great news IllinoisLady! And gardengumby, thanks for repeating the advice posted here the other day for those using Internet Explorer turning off Compatability View from the Tools menu as a way to bring back the formatting panel.

    Thanks Mods.

Id be interested if anyone is using noscript (addon for FF) and their current experience.

I can reliably reproduce a copy and paste glitch.

Before I came to this thread I already had "temporarily allow all breastcancer.org" checked in noscripts, so I can see the toolbar. I can type, my cursor is fine, spacebar is fine. No problems with spellcheck here as in red underscore. Not sure about the spacing on paragraphs yet.

However, once I try to copy and paste ANY text from anywhere I can no longer enter text. The spacebar doesnt work.

After this, further tests reveal I can carry on entering text as normal if I hit the preview button, I don't even have to hi-light any text, it happens by just doing Ctrl/V. Ive also tried Ctrl/C and that action is OK.

I am totally non-techie, so probably can't explain what is happening to me right (and won't understand any advice you give me unless it is in plain, simple English), but I have been trying to copy some information over from the web. When it is in 'preview' it looks fine, but when I submit it, I get all sorts of symbols (such as <font>), when I go to 'edit', it looks right again (so I can't even fix all the glop), and when I re-submit all the symbols show up again. I have tried copying from the webpage to here, I've copied the information to a word document and then here, and have also e-mailed my word document to myself, copied it over here. Any way I do it, the results are the same......CRYING AND MAD FACES..........

ruthbru, it looks as though all that hidden formatting from the web document was transferred when you copied it into Word, and then shows up when it's published in the forums. All those symbols are instructions to the website to change the font, set a size and so on. Can you paste the original into TextEdit or WordPad - something that's just plain text?

Ruthbru, when theres a site upgrade and theres teething issues, typically you would start with comparing apples with apples, but thats not always possible cuz theres M$ (Microsoft) too. (lol) OK just being facetious here. (that was supposed to be a joke) ... seriously...

So you start with comparing the glitches with the usual variables. Platform: PC or Mac and their particular OS (Operating System) Windoze XP/Vista/7/8 or Mac Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion or Linux etc..., Then Browser (& Version) IE / FireFox /Chrome (Ugh {google}) / Safari etc.... Another biggie is Javascript, which most websites use and which you need to have enabled if you want to utilize the sites' full features. Some won't function at all.

If the techies can see a pattern for a particular configuration, then it helps them nail down the issue/s. Call it a process of elimination.

Where I'm concerned at least, the tech team is going to have to do the upgrading thing first. In other words, my situation is like a wingnut and is exacerbated because I tweak tweak tweak and use utilities like noscript to lock the browser down as much as possible against sites like the Google monster who tracks your every move. They also have a nasty habit of buying out sites like doubleclick, which still gets to keep it's name but is owned by Google. Just to realize how much google actually owns would give you nightmares. You can tell I have issues with google but I digress....

OK, for me, when I post, the formatting symbols show with whatever Ive used (paragraphs and bolding etc,) but only IF I disable scripts AFTER I've typed stuff in. They go away when I enable scripts, so ruth from what Im understanding your situation is almost opposite to mine.

Mods Im wondering about the toolbar. Its prettty slim on features or maybe its just me? Theres no font size on mine and of course the venerable emoticons are missing.

Congratulations, ruthbru - you got it to post! When you're finished your celebration, can you let everyone know how you solved the formatting problem?

I pasted all the information into a word document, I then clicked on the clipboard, then 'paste', and then 'paste special', and then 'unformatted text'. I notice some <fonts> still sneaked through. A lot of work just to bring over some information!!!!

    Again, our apologies!

I think I will just give up ever posting pictures again. I use AOL, on a desk-top. I have copied and pasted pictures on here for maybe 3 years now, with no problems.

Can't be done with this computer, and with all the suggestions and everything I've tried so far...Same with spell check... wheen I tipe ths ther s nooooo wavi red line

ANYwhere. So no way to correct.

So I will just muddle on, typing, adding no pictures, and crossing my fingers with the spelling.

Don't give up Chevyboy! As you all know, there is a learning curve when implementing a new feature -- we truly are attempting to make the boards a better place -- just a few growing pains! Hang in there and before you know it, it'll be like nothing ever happened...

Mods you are doing a great job, and so far as I'm aware, NONE of us are required to pay for coming on here. Someone has to pay for bandwidth and servers etc. You have provided a place for us all to come without charge. So I for one say THANKYOU and I appreciate these boards even with glitches or things that may be a little inconvenient or even if theres features Id like to see that don't eventuate. Yes theres always gonna be upgrade issues and teething problems from time to time.

    Thankyou again Mods.

Thanks Mods, I eagerly await a response. Unfortunately it's no mystery to me. Google has their fingers in too many pies and I dont necessarily want them "knowing/phoning home" when I access my HDD :-(.

Hi Mods! Just letting you know that today, for some reason, I cannot put my curser into the middle of a word to correct it as I have always done with out a highlight appearing. When the highlight appears and I backspace, it interferes with every word written after so I can no longer correct a single letter.

Cheryl, just point your curser at the photo and click.......a broken line box will appear around it......them scroll to the bottom right corner of the pic and there is a little black box. Place curser on the box and hold while you move the line to the size you want........release curser and hit enter.......voila! done!

hbcheryl you're not limited to when you posted your pik. You can also go in after, hit edit, and simply click the pik to activate the size box, do your adjustments, save, and all done.
