Love that, Alexandria!
Btw, reading yesterday's posts and just want to send big hugs and healing vibes to Wabbit and her hubby.

I am personally finding all of this a little scary. The level of extremism, the blatant rascism, and the acceptance of it all by "establishment" figures - makes me really worry about the future of this country.
-
Me, too, Sandy. Not only acceptance of it all by "establishment" figures, but encouragement. Why won't the House Republican leadership censure their members for their blatantly racist comments? Steve King is one of the most public, but there are many others. When the leadership doesn't speak out, they condone it.

Libby - hits another home run!
I thought McCain was born in Panama? Where his father was stationed in Navy. Doesn't matter to me, I still respect him for STANDING UP TO A WOMAN in the audience of one of his campaign stops who was insisting Obama was a muslim something or other, he took the microphone from her and set her straight immediately - not days after when press picked it up = but immediately. That's truth, courage, and honor. He hasn't always, IMHO, lived up to that finest moment, but that moment still shines for me.
Also enjoying watching a few videos of Donald Trump, how DOES he create that combover? Which seems to have a life of its own. I mean it seems to go around his whole head. Also love the "snear" he always displays...charming, yes???? ok - stop chortling, that was snark

-
When the leadership doesn't speak out, they condone it.

And if they do speak out, they know they'll be labelled RINOs. Which, of course, says a great deal about the GOTP, doesn't it?

Alexandria - what a GORGEOUS version of my FAVORITE Carole King. Didn't know Celine has such a pure sounding voice, my bad, always thought she was a just a "howler" like Michael Bolton, Streisand -
well, C4C, we're all singing along. BTW - HYSTERICAL pic of The Donald. What a idjut he is - if I could spell narcissist, I'd call him the Supreme One...
OK - are we done with all the rain yet? Little creeks around us, are raging...not like Colorado Springs, or the midwest, but my little cellar cold double as a goldfish bowl..
-
Sun - credit goes to crazy4carrots for the Carole King. I just posted it for her.
-
And that's cuz I'm severely tech-challenged! Thanks again, Alex!
I adore Carole King -- so incredibly talented. Along with Celine, Shania and Gloria, I think this is the best rendition of "You've Got a Friend" I've ever heard. And it seemed especially appropriate for our thread

Afternoon everyone. Had to work early today.....but thank the heavens and whomever is in it ( not a racist I hope ) that I have a job to go to......and this one so far has been delightful. I get to spend time with a Yorkie named Sadie....and Sadie will be getting a new female friend on Saturday. Sadie has a big case of lonesome since her housemate went away to college in Arizona with the young mistress of the house. Saturday will be a grand day for Sadie. I will be there to meet the new edition....can't wait.
I am really sad today, but feeling wonderful moisture welling over the Carole King and friends song. Still, it seems so many have forgotten the universal language. It is love and way too many won't speak it anymore. Belinda, RL, GG, C for C. Alexandria and Sunny, it can't ever be good when the voice of reason and sanity is trampled with hate and racism. There are none so blind as those who won't let themselves see. Unfortunately, it likely will have to get worse before it gets better and that is sad. I sit here and think....who do I hate --- and there is no one. There are some people I like way less than others..... but hate is far too harsh for me. I strongly dislike racists, and obstructionists and a lot of the Republicans and many TP'ers.....but I can't really find any hate there. Those people have a far bigger burden than I likely ever will --- and there will be lots of time and karma for them to steep in somewhere along the road.
There are many, many principles and as far as I'm concerned.....there is no person, no matter who they are, whether they participate in a relgion or not, who could not be a far better human being to themselves and to all those around them if they just adherred to the Ten Commandments. If you just did those -- you'd be someone I would admire. And if you just did those.....this old world would be a better place by far. More of us could speak the same language again.

For me (JMHO), it is all about race. I haven't seen a POTUS get this much disrespect. Joe Wilson screamed, "You lie!" during a State of the Union address. Governor Brewer wagged her finger in his face. It's really shameful.
It's a lot more socially acceptable to call him a Socialist or a Marxist, than what they really want to call him.
They have a huge problem with a black guy in the White House who is not the help.

Hmmm....Got to remember what I just posted....those rules!!!

Blue....the cactus flowers are a total delight......for the many years I lived in California, I had a huge cactus garden....a couple of them well over my head. Some not too attractive throughout the yr. but always breath-taking when they bloomed.

GGG, I totally agree. Scratch the surface of this country and you will see some KKK wannabes. Fortnately, there aren't that many any more, but the ones out there are very vocal.
I've always wondered how my parents would have reacted to Obama. After being lifelong Republicans, they became Democrats in the late 80's when the Repub party went crazy. However, they were always very racially prejudiced. But they changed so much in their last years that I kind of think they would have liked him. I'll never know as my mom died before he was even elected to the US Senate, and my dad suffered from alzheimer's after Obama became president. When I talked with him about Obama he would nod his head as if understanding, but it was clear he didn't.
-
We live in a two party system. Which Party is this racism coming from? This just happenned Saturday at a rodeo:
It's Town Hall season again. Racist after racist going to the microphone saying things that sound very familiar.
Wabbit - I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I didn't know.
-
Wabbit, I also want to extend my condolences for your DH's diagnosis. I just sporadically read and post so it's hard to catch up.

GGG as you said ( and it's so pithy, true, sad, and yet funny in a wonderful way) "They have a huge problem with a black guy in the White House who is not the help." I think it really started when Clinton was elected, the first of the "not one of us" ( not inherited wealth, family status, EastCoast what used to be called WASP) and then it seemed to quiet down for about 8 years.....shhh, don't try to 'splain why - and THEN, and THEN -
"the arc (very very too long) really started to bend toward justice" -
For those also interested in astrology - interesting phase, Uranus-Pluto square - and then, and then, and then -
Let's really ring the bell: HRC 2016. CLANG, CLANG, CLANG
Love the cactus. Never got one to bloom, BUT, I have a HUGE wax hoya with deliciously chocolately smelling clusters galore - "oh froojus day, calloo, callay, she chorteled in her joy"
C4C - plz leave some room on the tech challenged chaise lounge (with an accent in there somewhere) for me, I'll bring the wine & chocolate. I can STILL see CK on the cover of the Tapestry album

-
Talk about hitting the nail quite squarely on the head....Blue I loved Republican Jesus. What a terrific hoot.
Count me in as not able to find my way around the computer too well. I'm working on it though.....good thing I have lots of years left.....if I want to learn this 'onery' machine I am going to need them.
See you all in the morning.

Sunnyflowers - you use arnica don't you? Do you use the gel or do you take the pellets? or both?
-
-
Good one, Blue!
-
Blue, hahaha!
-
GG - ah, arnica....more aaaahs.

I use the gel ( Whole Foods generic brand 365) for massage. And I OFTEN use the under the tongue pills too. B4 any surgery, my PS suggests patients use the pills. I was introduced to homeopathy when I lived in London. It has always has strong support from the Royal family. You may have read of recent gurfluffle cuz Prince Charles has spoken out in support of "mind body medicine" - he's always been WAY AHEAD of the public, anyhow.
I know many "pooh, pooh" homeopathy ( "like treating like" - interesting, same theory of vaccines, giving thanks for the small pox vaccination upper arm scar I still have...) and also acupuncture - BOTH have been a part of my life AND well being, for years. SO...I'm not trying to "convince" anyone who is skeptical because neither has yet been "proven" by "scientific evaluation" - but know after major back surgery years ago, it was arnica which replaced the morphine I was getting in he hospital when I returned home.
Also am now using Chinese herbal medicine I get from acupuncturist to treat my allergies. Haven't needed an antihistamine in a long time. Tho, I also still use a steroid inhaler to treat the terrible bronchitis I got after the flu last Spring. So I am OPEN to both Western ( chemotherapy, Arimidex) and Eastern medicine.
A long anwer, gg, bottom line - BOTH Arnica Gel & under the tongue pills. NOTE: THIS IS IMPORTANT. Do not use any MENTHOL, peppermint, Olbas, Ben Gay, etc. when using Arnica gel - makes it ineffective, or at least LESS effective. Can't explain why, never asked, but trust Naturpath who first told me about it.
After arnica gel to treat immediate injury, sprain, serious bruise - I then use TIGER BALM for future pain relief. Not at the same time. Arnica Gel is excellent to put on IMMEDIATELY after the fall, bump, crashing into edge of door, stubbing toe, you get the idea. Tiger Balm now makes a LARGE patch - which my wonky ankle LOVES. saves the staining of clothes, and is effective for hours.
-
Sunny - I have a real problem with homeopathy! You really cannot make a comparison between it and vaccines, because homeopathic medicine has barely traceable amounts of the "medicine". In fact, several studies have shown that much of it has NO traceable amounts. I know the British Royal family swears by it and in fact their robustness and longevity would make one think it's effective. But I suggest that homeopathic medicine is very similar to placebos. So, I guess if Prince Charles thinks it works for him.......meanwhile the purveyors of homeopathy are sitting pretty!
This is JMHO, of course. Glad we can discuss this in a friendly fashion
