We'd like to (once again) remind all parties that if you do not agree with or like a certain thread that you use the BLOCK FEATURE.

This is the last warning; continuing to post instigating remarks on threads where you clearly do not meet eye-to-eye will result in deletion of posts and possible banning.

Thank you for continuing to maintain a civil, supportive atmosphere.

Juliaanna,  thank you for posting that link.  We all knew what an amazing and caring woman Athena was, but, wow, after reading that, those facts were strongly reinforced.

Her friend wrote, among other things:

"She was compassionate to the one who was oppressed."

".....she used that degree to expose drug violence, political corruption, human rights
concerns and poverty. She was the voice for the voiceless."

"She believed it was her responsibility to help improve people’s lives."

And what a lovely photo her friend posted.  Athena was beautiful inside and out.

She is very missed here.  Among so many memories, some of my fondest are of when she, I, Kam and others would "live blog" here during the political conventions.

She worked so hard for Obama's campaigns and she had such insight as to what issues the U.S. was facing and always had passionate solutions (e.g., her starting the petition to repeal the 2nd amendment).

Again, Juliaanna, thank you for finding that link and sharing it.

After reading that, trite as they may be, I am reminded of two quotes.....John Donne's famous words:

"....Any man's death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind."

as well as this one by Jordan Smith:

“When you were born, you were crying and
everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when
you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around
    you is crying.”

Wishing everyone who posts here or just reads here a day filled with some peaceful and joyful moments.

    Moderators -

To clarify, are we permitted to post insults and other instigating remarks on threads where we DO agree with the topics?  Perhaps there's some confusion about the rules.  Please clarify.

Thanks, Belinda44, for that (not trite at all) sentiment.

Mods - 17 hours ago, a comment on the other thread clearly referenced a case I had discussed here on this thread, and then asked "What kind of a lawyer are you?"  It was clearly directed personally at me, and it was clearly a challenge of my professionalism.  Everyone on this thread knows that it referenced me.  It was my case, and I am the only attorney on yes/no - at least as far as I know.   I saw no admonition on that thread as to personally challenging and intending to insult another member's profession.   If you think that this was neither intended as nor taken as a direct attack on me, then you need to think again.  It was only after two hours ago when I answered what I perceived to be a direct question as well as an intended insult and after several members of this thread  defended me, here, on yes/no, that this warning has been posted.

I have no problem with your rule and will stay off Mirror.  However, I suggest that this rule be fairly applied.

This is a general comment about people who dehumanize women who work as prostitutes or strippers or who have substance abuse problems -- as though that is all they are (stripper, prostitute, addict) and not also daughters, friends, sometimes mothers, always complicated human beings.  I think building a wall of self-righteousness around yourself just makes your world that much smaller.  And that's a shame.

The best book I've read in the past year was Colum McCann's novel, Let the Great World Spin.  Two of the characters are prostitutes.  One is a priest.  One is a hit and run driver.  And they are all flawed and infuriating and surprising and beautiful.

I read a profile of McCann that decribed his writing, perfectly, as an exercise in "radical empathy."  The world could use a bit more radical empathy, I think.

What Alexandria said - BUT if everyone would just BLOCK the Misleading Moat - and NOT READ and put the people posting stoooooopid things on IGNORE - then if a really, really stooooopid person, other than Us Regular Libtards posted on our Brussel Sprouts with a BIG BIG BIG Heart Thread  - no one would know - as in, "If a tree fell in the forest..."

Poisoonally, I couldn't care WHAT is said, if I wasn't reading it, and my friends weren't commenting on it.

Imagine - being so limited, that one has to read on our Spangled Scooter Gang of Grieving Cubs tossing Brussel Sprouts to ward off the criticism ( mockery!!!!) of our Lioness - in order to have something to comment about....bleah, or as another hero would say: "OH, BOTHER."

The Fashion Show "season" is coming up, the September Vogue is about to take up my Whole Mailbox, and I feel like crying, again.

Please don't feed the trolls.  RL is running outta spray...and thank you Lewing, for explaining to the really stooooopid people that men and women are NOT prostitutes as their "first career choice"- and thanks for the words: "Radical Empathy."  Delicious words.

Imagine going to your kitchen sink and turning on the faucet to find nothing coming out; and all your neighbours are in the same fix.  That's what has happened in a town in Texas.  Lots of oil and gas (thanks to fracking) and NO WATER.  Which begs the question: what would you rather live without?  Or, should I say, COULD?  As a wise person said some years ago, the last great war will not be about oil, but about water.....

Hubby came home from his fishing trip last night.  He was gone three days - got 6 fish (which is 3 day's limit).  They were all Chinook (King) salmon which is the VERY best (in case you're not a salmon afficionado).  The biggest was 37 lbs, the smallest was about 24.  We're giving one filet to his mom.  We're bbqing 1/2 of 1 filet this weekend, and the rest is all frozed up.  I LOVE SALMON!!!
