Oh Edi, what a fantastic photo!!! Love your dress and those shoes! How were your feet by the end of the day? You girls all look so lovely. DH is handsome too. He reminds me of that late great actor Ed Asner when he was Lou Grant on the Mary Tyler Moore show.... not sure if you got that across the pond?

    Welcome Bianca and Sharron!

What trial is that Sharron? I'm on a trial of Herceptin for "Her_2 low" folks, although I am classed as triple negative. Actually I'm in the control arm of the study, so I'm not actually getting Herceptin!

At least I don't have to have treatments for the year, especially as they might not help anyway!

Edi, so happy you made it to the wedding! All of you look beautiful, and the bride must have been happy about the sunshine too.

Hi from damp Merseyside, really warm though so can't complain.
Almost recovered from wedding weekend, just pretty tired. DH gone off to work he must be pooped with all the driving but was pretty amazing. Newly weds off to Maldives today hope they stay safe. Seems it is the season there for storms !!

Benny, DH fascinated that you likened him tp Ed Asner, googled pics and you are right ! You made his day, thanks.
Would love to see pics of Trevor and Benny.
Your home must be such fun, Sharon sounds a hoot too.
Bet your hair is lovely ! at least it DID come back never thought mine would lol.
Girls are right, you are superwoman, laundry just about manageable today and probably naps in between loads, or on them if gets too much.
My feet did get sore at the wedding as did everyones, we all just kicked off the shoes and walked on the lovely cool stone floors. The shoes in the photo were a last minute purchase, I had given up on finding low heels in matching colour, browsing in local thrift store and there they were in my size ! So glad I found them, the original ones would have been like having foot in a vice lol.

Morwenna, hope rads appointments improved for you.

Dakota, how did your wedding go.?

Traii, so glad DS better, my DS had ear problems as a little one and they are so painful. Hope that incision less sore.

Liefie, you put me to shame too with the energy you have. Was DH making sausages or cooking them ?
The bunny pie reminded me of a story from around here, there was a movie called Watership Down which you may have seen. In local butchers window was a row of bunny carcasses hanging up ( yuk ) Underneath was a sign reading " you read the book, saw the Movie, now EAT the cast " Some nasty butchers out there lol.
Love your description of me at the wedding, wish it was true, tried my best to look cool and refined but so wanted my slippers and housecoat ha ha.
Sorry you have an iffy tum too. It really makes life hell sometimes.
Good luck with the baby blanket.Sure it will be beautiful.
Like Traii would love to hear you play.

Nihahi, Hope DH had a great birthday. Sounds like a great time was planned.
    Love poster of light too.

Websister, thanks for your lovely comments on f/b pic. Hope you had a good weekend of peace and quiet. We need to recharge our batteries sometimes.

Movie, Go girl !! So jealous of your Wilburs creek get together. Tim Tams too. Lots of pics required.
    BRAT diet is good, thanks.
Hope your pooch recovers well, my little yorkie had BC Vet operated then said she wouldnt survive very long. She passed five years later from something else. Don't give up.
Will send you and DD a cheer you up cake on next post.

Carla, sent you a message on F/B.

Bianca/Sharon welcome hope all goes well for you.

Edi, saw your wedding pics.....you gorgeous thing, you! Girls and DH quite the handsome trio! Thank you soooo much for thinking of me.....the cake was perfectly delicious! I am sure I have added 5lbs. just looking at it!

Last night (Sunday) I went to a reading of a play titled "Double Exposure" all about a woman who must come to terms with a BC diagnosis and the aftermath in her life. By the end of it, I was thinking: "OMG-this woman has just told the story of MY last 11 months!" It was phenomenal, and I am hoping she can find a way to present it in different cities, so MORE of our exclusive club can experience it. I walked out of there feeling hopeful, empowered, and buoyed up by meeting a woman whose experience with the Bitch is not so different from my own. I told her about BC Org., and the boards on here, and how I talk with women from all over the globe....she was fascinated. Maybe some day she'll join us...... :)

Nihahi-looking forward to the 17 th.......already starting my pre-Iceberg meditations......it's my Mecca, you know! :)

Taking dog to vets for surgery on Thursday......willing to do that, but can't wrap my head around chemo or rads for an animal......it would be frightening, I think.

DD #4 still improving.....hoping she is able to work in two weeks.....keeping fingers AND toes crossed!

Sorry I have been quiet......but have been staying up with reading posts.

    Love you all-(((Hugs)))

Sorry to be welcoming you, Sharron and Bianca - this is an incredible group of women though and we represent lots of different age ranges, stages of cancer, receptor statuses, treatments and types of surgeries

Edi - love the pictures, sorry to hear about the blood sugar scare post Johnny Cash. Beautiful cake for Movie and DD. Happy to hear about the shoe find at the thrift store, they looked beautiful

Liefie - hope the organ playing went well and that you like the new pastor from Calgary - what's Calgary going to do now? ;) We may have to steal the organist ;)

Carlads - have been thinking of you this weekend, hope you were able to put it out of your thoughts and enjoy friends and family

Movie - good to hear that DD continues to improve. Thinking of you as you make decisions for your dog. Very happy that you have your meetup with Nihahi to look forward to (and the TimTams)

Nihahi - another evening, another thunderstorm - seems to be becoming the norm, I'm spying a rainbow out there right now though

Benny - wonderful picture of Benny the cat on Facebook, could also be described as the small plush toy.

Traii, Dakota, Maria, Alive - hope all is going well

I'm waiting for my 'men' to arrive back in Calgary. They were held up on their trip home by a traffic accident in BC, thankfully it didn't involve them but had traffic stopped for awhile

Tomorrow is an appointment in the a.m. followed by work in the afternoon, didn't get to sleep last night until after 2, I will plan to take something tonight since you guys don't seem to do the all night parties on here that you used to

    Take care everyone

Lordy, Websister....out of towners are really starting to doubt me when I explain this is NOT a normal Alberta summer. Yup, another rain this afternoon, so we had to rush to tarp everything, with the wind picking up....thought I'd be parasailing a few times!!!!

I'm sometimes on the Diep thread when the insomnia hits....pop a message on here if you are up in the wee hours. If I'm up too, I'll likely see it and come play with you!

Movie.....so excited about Glacier....Ade and I are a bit concerned about joining you on your second hike (Highline, I think you said). Not sure if either she or I are up to 11 miles. (She is a young, insane 67 yearold). We might have to discuss that one. We are both psyched about Iceberg....sounds like our kind of hike!!!!

Catch you later, all, hope all is well.

    Hi everybody,

I've been reading, but not posting. Too lazy, and in a real summer holiday mood. Weather so gorgeous here, warm and sunny. This past long weekend here was an unbelievable number of boats on the lake, some of them weird homemade contraptions that can barely stay afloat - don't know how they got past the inspections - lol -  did not go through inspections obviously. One group had a 30 by 30 feet flat wooden platform towed by a boat. On it there were chairs, tables, umbrellas, coolers, and lots of partying people. Very amusing as long as nothing went wrong, and fortunately it didn't. This lake is 500 - 700 feet deep in places. We picnicked on a friend's dock yesterday, swam lots, and got a suntan.

Websister, hope sleeping gets better for you. Still the back pain keeping you up?

Nihahi and Movie, I discovered Timtams in a store here in town, and was sooooo excited! Until I read that ONE COOKIE has 200 calories!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dropped that box like a hot potato - lol. I don't exercise hard enough to burn those calories!

Edi, DH had made sausage before with a borrowed sausage maker. This time he used my Kitchen-Aid mixer for which we had bought the sausage attachment, and he was so excited to try it out. He first cut, spiced and then minced 15 kg of meat with the grinder attachment. I warned him that it is not an industrial grade mixer, and to let the machine cool down in between, and went to bed. When it came time next day to stuff the sausages, the machine would not go. He opened it up, and sure enough, there was a broken part. Now I am minus the mixer, which I use almost every day, and we are stuck with 15 kg of sausage meat. I am exasperated, to say the least . . . lots of meatballs, cottage pies, shepherd's pies, lasagnes etc. in our near future, and everything will taste like sausage. LOL.

Hi Sisters, Websister- I did try to forget about it for the weekend.  It was always in the back of my mind.  I know you understand.

I really just wanted to pop in and check on everyone and thank you all for your thoughts and encouraging words.

PET Scan isn't scheduled yet we are waiting for insurance approval, which won't be a problem I have already met my deductible and co-insurance.

    I will keep you posted.

    Love you all,

    Carla

Glorious sunshine here, it does lift the spirits.

Liefie, sausage story beyond belief, something my DH would do. Why do men ignore warnings. That is a hell of a lot of sausage meat !!
The activity on the lake sounds amazing. Lucky no one fell in.
    Timtams calorie count is frightening.

Movie, glad you liked the cake and DD improving.

Websister, hope you are sleeping better. Those shoes were such a good find !How is GD ?

Nihahi, Glacier trip sounds so wonderful, you and Movie will have a ball with your friend. Volunteering on hold right now as DH just loses it if I as much as mention it. Right now can't cope with any stress. Will explain why next week, lots going on.

Baking lots of little cakes as DD and ED attending fundraising for heart foundation on Saturday. Their friend died on the Rugby pitch aged 16, 20 years ago and now they are all meeting up to raise funds in his memory.

Shedman eating lots and has put on 10 lbs, things are improving for him thank goodness. His little GD being christened later this month so lovely family celebration coming up for him.

Watching a TV programme this morning and half of the presenters have been off with tummy bug that is going around. So glad only me got it at the time of the wedding.

Put wedding pics taken by my ED on my f/b timeline if anyone wants to flick through.Hard to believe the castle is a family home to couple with two children. !! They have to open to the public to pay the bills.

    Love to all not mentioned.

JDB53 and Colt45, welcome here! It is so heartwarming to see husbands who care so much, and who are supporting their wives the way you do. Too often on these boards one reads of husbands who treat their spouses really badly, and who fail to provide the love and care these women so desperately need after being diagnosed with this devastating illness.

Edi, that is indeed a lot of sausage meat - lol. DH's mom always used to say he does not know what is enough, and where to stop. Our biggest fights happen when we have people over, and he keeps nagging me that the food is not enough, that I have to make more. Nobody has ever gone away hungry from here, but he has this ridiculous fear. After 34 years of marriage, can't he just trust that I know what I'm doing? Lol. On another note - so happy to hear Shedman is doing so much better. Poor man has gone through so much, and deserves some respite.

Traii, you are quiet. Everything okay?

    Welcome Colt and JDB53

Edi - sorry to hear about the volunteering - will be watching for update next week. Lovely Facebook pictures, what a beautiful setting for a wedding! Also happy to hear that Shedman is doing well again

Nihahi - this evening rain seems to be becoming the norm

Carlads - any updates on insurance approval?

Benny - Benny appears to be living the good life in the Facebook pictures

Liefie - all I can envision are mounds of sausage meatballs ;)

Need to get to bed, work tomorrow but wanted to check in with everyone - I will be so glad when Herceptin is done and I don't have to take my big box of Kleenex with me to all my work meetings. I am enjoying being back though and chemobrain doesn't seem to be impacting too much thankfully. We have a big week ahead of us next week with oldest son and family coming on Wednesday, he will stay until Sunday, then return home, DIL and grandkids will stay a few days more before returning home - should be fun with a baby shower and some birthday celebrations thrown in. So different than this time last year :)

Hi and welcome Colt and JDB53. Laughing
Your ladies are so lucky to have you. We chatter on about some weird and wonderful things on here but the main thing is that we are here if you need us. If you need answers from a woman's perspective just ask.
My DH found the Breast Cancer Husband by an author called something Silver a great help.
I got it off Amazon and it is written by a lovely man who wanted to help his wife and find out things he didn't understand.

There are lots of books aimed at ladies but he felt in a cloud like you two.

Please keep reading and asking questions if you need too.

    The cloud will lift soon.

Traii hope you get DS worn out, our GD is helping pick up all the branches DH has cut from front tree. Trying to wear her out for her Mum.
ED took her to look at a wedding dress she had found and lo and behold she turned into the child from hell. When ED came out in her amazing dress GD was jumping on and off a beautiful pale sofa in the shop. She then proceeded to run around in circles then topped off the lot by wiping her face on the front of the dress !!!!
Thank goodness no chocolate involved but ED came home and cried. GD has been told off in no uncertain terms and it is so unlike her. She better behave on the Wedding day lol.

Websister, glad you liked the pics Smile back to normal now thank goodness.Have a wonderful time with the family.

Liefie, is your DH of Irish descent ? It seems to be an Irish habit supplying enough food for an army. My darling SIL supplies food for the five thousand even when only a handful there. We all leave laden with food for the next few days lol.

Dakota, Glad wedding went well and the insect behaving. My GD's cry buckets when they have to say goodbye to their cousins too.
Great news about boobs. Sure these lovely hubbies on here won't mind.

Benny, you look amazing on F/B looking back over last years posts, can't believe you are the same person. You have done so well. Are you eating all the things on your list for after burning pipes stopped ?

I have found things starting to taste better lately, still can't eat lots, but enough to keep me going.

Anyone heard from Bearcub or Luvmy on any other threads Jennie too ?

Welcome to the hubbys.....we may rant about ours sometimes......this is a group of honest, upfront ladies. We also share our love and amazement of our hubby's too. Hope you don't take offense, hope you get some insight into how your ladies may be feeling.
